Pros: Our stay in Asheville was very pleasant. Room was comfortable and attractive. Loved the shower. Staff was polite and helpful. We had seen on the website that the pool would be closed for renovations, so were pleasantly surprised to find that renovations were complete and it was open. Pool, hot tub and firepit area were very nice.
Pros: Room was very nice. Staff maintains it's well. Staff was very nice and well dressed and spoken desk clerk. You could tell they cared about their job and guest.
Cons: Trash can was overflowing out front of lobby door. Hotel it self was very clean, parking lot too with that one exception.
Pros: Clean, quiet and convenient.
Cons: Breakfast was just okay, not good, just okay..

Tree stumps tripping hazard at night. Carry flashlight because parking area not well lit.
Pros: It was clean and there was a fireplace in our room. Water mill entrance scenery pretty.
Cons: Extremely dated. Walls very thin. The chairs were horrible(sank almost to the floor when we sat in them). Curtains didn't cover the windows and some of the blinds were broke. Front porch deck needed repair work. Winding roads with very little signs.
I could have stayed at a chain hotel and got better views of the mountains
Pros: Room had character. Wood floors, ceilings, walls, etc
Cons: It was advertised as having senic mountain views. The only view we had was pine trees. Not a single mountain view anywhere.
My kids (ages 8 and 10), did not want to leave. The pool and lake were fun places to swim, hammocks and swings were throughout the grounds, pool table and several other games in the lodge, wonderful hot breakfast every morning, plus many other activities. We really enjoyed it here and plan to come back every year.
Pros: There were many activities to do on the grounds.
Cons: There were a few ants in the cabin, but it could be expected when in a wooded area.
HLI has been a favorite of ours for 25 plus years. We used to live in Asheville and dined at Seasons regularly. Sunday Brunch is a must. It's a great place to host business meetings as well as social events. It's the only place we stay when visiting Asheville for business or pleasure. There are many new, 'fancier' hotels, but one cannot duplicate the environment of HLI location, the excellent staff, and cuisine at all meals. peaceful and serene always.
Pros: We have been going to HLI since the 1980's. We always stay in one of the cabins with easy parking and convenient location. The BEST is the included breakfast. Season's is an excellent restaurant and breakfast is not-to-be-missed.
Very nice hotel, great location and excellent restaurant at Seasons.
Pros: Best meal we have had in years at Seasons!

Cons: The room was near the highway so was a bit noisy. Other than that, all was good. The staff are extremely nice and friendly.
Pros: Nice clean hotel with heated indoor pool gym
Cons: The resturaunt in the hotel could use better food the breakfast was all just heated up.
Cons: Slamming doors waking me up. Terrible pillows. No info regarding local attractions in lobby or room.

Pros: Very pretty area, nice outward appearance. Nice grounds, some thoughtful appointments.
Cons: Some maintenance issues, 'the little things' were off. Everything was fine, but the 'lodge' part was more decoration.
Cons: The breakfast wasn't edible.
Cons: The only thing I didn't like was there wasn't ventilation in the bathroom. Besides that, beautiful place, and great staff!
Pros: This was a great place to stay with clean, well appointed suites. The grounds are well kept and reminiscent of a mountain getaway. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I would say this was an excellent value and we enjoyed our stay.
Cons: This is trifling, but I wish there were napkins or paper towels in the kitchen.

Pros: This property is conveniently located just off the interstate near Hendersonville, Flat Rock Playhouse, Carl Sandburg home...not terribly far from Ashville. In other words it is in a lovely location. The staff are delightful and made the stay most enjoyable.
It truly is a pleasant place to stay without having to overspend.
Cons: While our room was clean and had a nice décor, the "bathroom basket" only had a shampoo..no conditioner, etc. Also, was disappointed no pool or exercise room.
Pros: Staff was friendly. Place was clean. Great location. Great price
Pros: The lobby was very nice and the staff was very friendly.
Cons: Our room smelled like stale cigarette smoke. Burn marks on carpet. The upholstered chair had a slash in it, and there were large cobb webs in the corner.
Pros: Staff were welcoming and friendly and the room was spacious comfortable and very clean. The atmosphere was quiet and family oriented
Pros: About on a par with some of the less expensive national chains - Clean, functional, no frills. I was in it for less than 12 hours. Included breakfast limited but ok.
Cons: Lighting in room was harsh and glaring. Only one inconveniently located electrical outlet made phone charging awkward. Shower a bit difficult to operate. Tap water tasted and smelled of chlorine but this may not be hotel's fault.
Pros: Location. Staff atmosphere. Breakfast
Pros: king bed room with extra pull out couch, two tvs frig and micro ..
staff was great had a great stay will use them again...

Cons: I paid for my vehicle to be parked on property until I returned from my short trip. Upon my return, I called the hotel for my pick up, I was told someone would be in the shuttle on the way to get me in minutes. Twenty minutes later, NO ONE has shown up. I WALKED FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE HOTEL, not one time during my walk did I see a Clarion shuttle pass me. I walked into the lobby and asked them what was going on around there. I told them what happened and the response I got from the ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER was "You only called once?!" HUH??!!! Should I have to call more than once when they are all standing around doing nothing!!!?? NEVER AGAIN!!!
Cons: Rate for value of facility
Pros: Staff was awesome. Breakfast was decent. Beds was comfy and quiet
Cons: Everywhere had to walk up and down steps no elevators.
Very noisy . was woke up at 12am loudness in hallways . quality of hotel needs upgrade for the price.
