Easy
Pros: Even the day after the eclipse in Wyoming, we got exactly the car we wanted and had no trouble. Drop off was fast and easy. Customer service was excellent.
Cons: We got the car in Casper, Wy. and dropped it off in Kalispel, MT. the surcharge was a bit steep but understandable.

Large family rental (Chevy Tahoe) for Yellowstone
Pros: Easy pickup in Cody, Wyoming. The car was ready along with the paperwork. The Hertz employee was very friendly and helpful - couldn't have been easier. This was for a one-way rental from Cody, WY to Salt Lake City, UT. We toured Yellowstone and Grand Teton Nat'l parks in-between.
Cons: 1) When I dropped off the car in SLC their location wasn't able to complete the rental transaction for some reason. They had to send the info the next day to the Hertz desk in Cody, Wyoming (the place of origin) for them to complete. This was a minor inconvenience. 2) The price was VERY expensive. $1700 for an 8-day rental. I'm not sure how much the one-way played into that, or the large-SUV played into it, but I couldn't find anything else to rent for 6 passengers. So I had to pay it.
