Cons:Put simply, Hertz rented us a dangerous car and refused to even reimburse us for the cost of making it safer. The car was in need of service, with dangerously low levels of oil and brake fluid. We didn’t know this until, far from any service stations, the dashboard lit up with an emergency notification that the vehicle needed to be stopped immediately due to oil issues. We checked the oil, which was well below the “Low” level. We also noticed the brake fluid was below the “Low” level. We eventually we made it to a service station and purchased both oil and brake fluid. Hertz refused to reimburse us for those purchases. They also refused to refund any portion of the rental cost, which we requested since they put our lives in danger. If you value your safety, not to mention a basic level of customer service and concern, I recommend you NOT rent from Hertz.

Pros:When I went to pick up the car, the office was open but unoccupied. Waited 1/2 hour and made three calls before somebody showed up. But there she upgraded us for no extra charge she also added two additional drivers without charge because I have elite status. But I was charged anyway. It took three emails to get those charges reversed. We picked up the vehicle in Oslo and returned it to Kristiansand. They charged NOK 1,500 for that (c. $180) I knew that when I reserved the cart, but I still think it's outrageous. Tools are collected automatically in Norway and Hertz added those charges to there invoice. But what they never warned me is that they added an administrative chargev that equalised the tolls.

Cons:I dropped the car off at 5:30am, but now have been charged for a 4th day because it says that I turned the car in at 9am. Hopefully this will be cleared up, but that policy should be altered when you drop off the car before opening hours (of 7am).

Pros:The supervisor at the airport location spent an hour and made several calls to resolve my problem.
Cons:It was very difficult to and took a long time to resolve my billing issue.

Pros:If traveling by rail or flying into Oslo, renting a car at the Oslo central train station is great. Great location and easy to exit the city
Cons:Hertz really needs to add signs to make it easy to find their car location in the parking garage. They have two (2) very small signs showing the location. One was on a utility pole about 8" long and the other was in the elevator (about 2 inches long). Once in the right area of the parking garage the Hertz sign was near the floor, again hard to find. No attendent on duty when we returned the car at 15:00 on a Wednesday. Other then that, no problems.

Pros:I ordered a VW Passat from Rentalcars.com in 30% less than the price I got as a Hertz Gold member. I got a new BMW X4 (I'v been upgraded without asking for). The service, the car and Norway were great..

Cons:The drop-off was a nightmare. The drop-off location was extremely difficult to find, no signage telling us where to park, where to drop the keys, etc. We had to do a lot of guessing and walking around asking and looking for help. In the end, we weren't sure we had done the right thing or that we had left the car or the keys in the right spot. The support phone number had no answer.

Cons:A very poorly managed experience. As it turned out, I was assigned an electric car in Oslo when I had selected "Mini" as an option (although I don't think this option specified "electric" when I chose it 4 months prior). The Hertz office informed me the day before that the car I had reserved wouldn't be able to make the trip I had booked it for. When I said that I would like to upgrade, I did not get an email until the next morning at the time of my reservation, saying they did not have an upgrade option available. When I then asked about using the electric car, they said they had already rented it out to someone else. After working with them for 6 more hours, we finally were given a suitable car, albeit one that cost twice as much as the one we reserved. Overall a very annoying experience that cost a half day of our vacation to sort out.

Pros:Brand new red car!! Who wouldn't like that. We also rented out car in Tromsø with major competitor and got scammed so this was a great experience. No hidden fees and charges.

Cons:We got a flat tire and customer service was not existent and we didn't get help for two days. STRANDED FOR TWO DAYS! NIGHTMARE!
