4.0 Okay
Pros: Pool and breakfast were both nice.
Cons: When we first checked in we were given a room that had two dirty popcorn bowls and garbage all over the floor. The bed had looked like someone laid on it after being made. We were excited to try this hotel but our first impression wasn't good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful rooms, wonderful breakfast
Cons: No
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I LOVED THE BATHROOM AND THE SHOWER! ALSO THE KITCHENETTE AND KING SIZE BED!! LOVED IT ALL!!
Cons: NO
10.0 Excellent
Pros: New Hotel, Good Breakfast
4.8 Okay
Pros: Beautiful hotel and not bad for the price, room was clean although smaller than expected, had to change rooms upon arrival due to strange heater / air conditioning noise in the ceiling of the first room. Breakfast was nice, but it gets over super early at 9:30 in the morning.
Cons: Staff is fairly snooty, they act like this hotel is the four seasons, which is fairly laughable. If you smoke, be advised that the entire property is non-smoking, and staff will rudely tell you to leave the property. Yeah overall would have rated this hotel much higher if their staff had had any manners or tact. The hotel itself is very nice, but the basic king suite is much smaller than it looks in the photos.
7.5 Good
Pros: Lovely hotel, nice facilities and great restaurant

7.0 Good
Pros: Very clean and great staff.
Cons: The breakfast was terrible. The eggs were very dry and over cooked, sausage was spongy, the potatoes were stale plus the food was cold. I threw out my food after the first bite. Such a clean and beautiful hotel but the breakfast made me want to never return. This food made me think twice about staying at any Hampton Inn again.

Pros: Warm, yummy free cookies in the lobby, very clean rooms & bathrooms, comfortable beds etc... continental breakfast included some made ahead omelets which was a nice option.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: It was cleaning and comfortable for a stop overnight there's a great little bar downstairs where all the local truck drivers hang out
Cons: It's great if you just passing through not really downtown more of a roadside stop should have looked at my map better would have liked to have been more downtown not their fault mine
8.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a unique antique hotel. Very clean and well maintained, but funky.
Cons: Need better blackout curtains. It was like a fireball in the yellow east facing room when the sun came up at 5 am something.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Easy access to shopping areas. Clean rooms and the staff is excellent
Cons: Not much really.
6.0 Good
Pros: Beds and location
Cons: They put another charge on my credit card and they didn't tell he about it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The employees working the front desk were very helpful & friendly. They helped us with a computer problem in the business office & let us check out an hour later to accommodate a later flight home.
Cons: A better window covering of the only window in the room would help. It was an eastern window, so the light was very bright each morning. Since the window was built into the roofline, we had no way to block out the light & no view of the outside area. However, we enjoyed everything else about our room & our stay there. Luckily, Maine is cloudy a lot which helped us with the bright morning light!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable beds. Location, though a little out of town, was easy, and next to the truck stop restaurant - Dysart’s - which was excellent! Breakfast was excellent and dining room nice. This hotel had a lovely ambience. We really enjoyed our stay.
Cons: I’m surprised that in the lovely breakfast room, plastic cutlery is used. I imagine it just makes life easier, but it’s not great to use, and it’s not great for the planet.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Large room with 2 king beds
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was great - lots of options
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great staff Great location easy to find Great breakfast Beautiful rooms. Great deal at twice the price.
Cons: Yes. We had to check out.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very peaceful and the atmosphere in the room was amazing
Cons: No
6.0 Good
Cons: The location was convenient to the airport but it had lots of car noise of the highway, was back behind a Citgo, and had very limited restaurant options (particularly if you don't eat seafood). When we arrived, we were greeted by a barricade of construction vehicles. I immediately inquired about the hours of the construction and the location of my room. Turns out my room, reserved just a month prior was in the construction zone? So they switched my room (did not have the amenities I booked for), we had to wait for another room to be cleaned (albeit we were a couple of hours before the stated 3pm check-in policy), and we had construction workers standing at the pool fence staring at us and some others in the pool that were not hotel guests - they snuck out the back way along the road when they left. There was no disclosure of the construction on the website or when the reservation was made. We did not feel safe leaving the luggage in the car. We did not find anywhere convenient to have dinner and missed lunch waiting in the lobby for a room after a long and taxing trip. I personally would not pick this facility for my future travel plans.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great staff. Good location. Fair price for the area.
Cons: Not real syrup with the breakfast. Corn syrup!

Cons: Breakfast wasn't great, but it was better than some.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Good location, close to shopping area and not far off I95
Cons: Hotel is somewhat dated and only has 1 elevator meaning you either drag luggage up stairs yourself or walk long distances thru hotel. Buffet breakfast low average in comparison with other properties.
1.0 Poor
Pros: Location
Cons: The bed was as hard as a rock and very wobbly. My husband and I woke up all through night and in the morning, the both of us had extreme back pain. The breakfast was not worth waking up for unless all you want is toast.
8.0 Excellent
Cons: When we went into our room initially, the room was very cold. About 55 degrees. It took two and a half hours to warm up to comfortable. The Hvac was very noisy all night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I've stayed there in the past. It's nice. The staff is very friendly and professional. It's close to my son's college. The breakfast is good. The restaurant staff wasbvery good
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The price was very reasonable. The staff smiled and all acted as if interactions with customers were a positive in their lives. The facility was "home-like" and comfortable. The rooms were fairly quiet with only direct hallway noise being any issue at all. The in room temperature control and equipment worked well and kept the room perfectly comfortable.
Cons: For the age of the facility it is fine but some materials are showing wear. Given the price, none of this is surprising as its far nicer than some other Bangor facilities in the area.
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Nothing. This place is great. Love it!
7.0 Good

8.0 Excellent
Cons: There was no way to turn on the fan in the winter to block noise or keep air moving in the room, and no temperature on the thermostat, so it was too hot. Also, the shower head wasn't even a real shower head, it just sort of sprayed a hard mist at you. These are my only complaints, otherwise the place and people were great.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location
Cons: No
4.0 Okay

4.0 Okay
Pros: Breakfast buffet OK though not much variety or quality.
Cons: Expected the room to have a fridge and microwave, but none there (offered one later, - too late). Overly attentive manager looking for good reviews, but the place is just a crumby old motel.
6.0 Good
Pros: Great location to attend concert at Darlings Waterfront. Perfect to walk to nearby restaurants for dinner. The bed and pillows very comfortable! The breakfast in morning very good with lots of variety and choices!
Cons: Rm 113 smelled like old cigarettes and very stale upon entering this Mon smoking room. The bathroom had a very strong Irvine odor in it.

Pros: I really like the location since it is right off I95. Easy to get to!
Cons: We found ants in the room and the lighting is not the best.
The Lucerne Inn - Holden - Building
9
8.6 Excellent (571 reviews)
Overview Reviews
The Lucerne Inn includes two buildings for overnight accommodations with a fine-dining restaurant, a comfortable pub and lounge, banquet rooms and other additional private spaces. The buildings elegant colonial architecture, unique artwork and antique furniture transports you to another era. Outside the buildings, the hotel grounds include an elegant gazebo, an outdoor patio, pool and, of course, famous scenic sunsets.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Luxury accommodations, especially nice shower, fine dinner options on site. Unbelievably, we found the portions overly generous. View was foggy, but we knew it would have been beautiful. A wedding tent in front of the guest room was disappointing. Breakfast service was excellent.
6.3 Good
Pros: The inn was quaint and had beautiful views and landscaping. The staff was helpful and kind.
Cons: The air quality in the room was stuffy. The tiles in the shower were not clean.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was very good. Plenty of great food to eat and a very comfortable setting to enjoy it in. The views are beautiful and the Inn is a very relaxing place to stay. And if you have the time for nine holes, the golf course is just across the street.
Cons: Everything was fine.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful - and the pool and grounds are terrific and just as they looked in the pictures online. The food at the restaurant was very good (expensive - but good).
Cons: Our room did not have any view - of which I thought all rooms did. In fact, our room's window overlooked a closed-in space for wedding receptions (those white tents) so it felt dark and not at all matched the pictures on the website for rooms. When we asked if we could have a different room, the staff said that the rooms with 2 double beds are all on the lower level without views. I wish I had known that in advance - as we chose the inn because we thought we would have a view - so it was disappointing. It also smelled musty in the room - perhaps because it was on the lower level and windows didn't open up to fresh air (they opened up to the white tent room - luckily no one had a party in it while we were there - that would have been very awkward!).
7.9 Good
Pros: Staff was nice, breakfast good, great view
Cons: The property is showing its age
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Hotel was very clean. The staff was very friendly and courteous. Very professional and you could tell they had pride in what they were doing.
5.0 Okay
Pros: did not go to breakfast---was only served until 9 am----view very nice----wedding meal fantastic---nice gazebo---not handicapped friendly grounds---nice flowers outside---
Cons: booked room with 2 beds----arrived and only had 1 bed---only 1 set of towels, 1/2 roll toilet paper, 3 Kleenex in box, bathroom faucet leaks all over, toilet does not flush properly, carpeting, dirty, smells dank and moldy musty in room, window crank broken, windows do not shut properly, need extra grab bars in only walk-in shower bathroom, furniture odd places in hallway making it hard to maneuver with walker and luggage, extra tables stored in entrance of back room entrance blocking entrance, asked for roll-away bed---did not have pillows with bed, no luggage rack in room, major dust under tv, 3 daddy long leg spiders in bathroom, door frames in entrances of building need to be painted, holes in parking lot need to be filled, only had 1 bottle of shampoo, conditioner, lotion for 4 people, only 2 glasses for 4 people, $75.00 directory was dirty and gross---asked for walk-in shower----upon arrival, had walk-in/NOT handicapped accessible bathroom and because that was the only room with walk-in shower, they gave us that room even though there was only 1 bed----service desk had to call owner to question that booking---owner had attitude----with amount we paid, (total $204.00) I feel we did not get what we paid for----1st call to Lucerne, asked for "friends of the wedding party room"---was quoted $280.00----called back few days later and got a room for $200.00---why an extra $80.00 for being with the family??? Not impressed with anything except for the food---I am not expecting any more attitude from owner---aim should be to please customers---wait staff were dumping glasses of liquid outside the tent as they cleaned the tables at end of evening----great way to attract all kinds of bugs!!!!
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful view. Comfy gas fireplace. Relaxing whirlpool bath. Large room. Terrific restaurant! (Salmon for dinner.) Friendly and helpful staff (Andre) Nice breakfast. Quiet.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: We love the Fairfield Inn and their staff (usually). The location is great, the breakfast is great and the pool is wonderful.
Cons: We stay at the Fairfield Inn every year in Bangor and have for many years When we made the reservation through booking .com I called the hotel with one request. That request was to have a room by the pool and hot tub... Specifically the hot tub.. we were not told the hot tub was not working at the time I called. It looked the tub had been down a while. Secondly, our bathroom was not very clean. The tub still had the previous guests hair in it and there was toilet paper floating in the toilet. It had been "shined" but did not feel or look very clean. Disappointing. My husband and I are General Managers at a summer resort and so this is our down time.. We were expecting to get what we've always gotten at Fairfield Inn in Bangor but this time it fell a little short.. The inside itself seems to be getting a little tired . Also, some of the evening staff never look up from the computer to greet you when you come back in and do not even speak to you when you walk by. That's unusual for the staff there.

7.1 Good
Pros: The bed was comfortable, the room was nice. It had a little apartment vibe to it. It was quiet and cozy.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: It was very quiet and clean. Great nights sleep
4.0 Okay
Pros: Nice location, large room, nice having a kitchenette
Cons: breakfast was an absolute joke, don't waste your money on the "pastries" but the worst part was being on the first floor and having someone above us walking around and moving things from 9pm until 1:30am when my husband went to the front desk to complain. Needless to say, we got almost no sleep the first night. The hallway needed to be swept. Having college kids work there is great, however, have them do something besides sit around. This has potential but it will go downhill fast if you do not maintain it. Also, there was an older man standing outside smoking every time we came and went who just stared at us, not very comforting.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Coffee.
Cons: Low quality pastries

7.5 Good
Pros: The night staff were great, very friendly and accommodating. Other than that, didn't care for much else!
Cons: The hotel needs some MAJOR upgrades (including the furniture - ex. arms of armchair were worn and VERY dirty, etc.). Lacks a microwave in the room). Elevator seems to be on its last legs and quite freaky. Bathroom fixtures are old a worn. Air unit did not work properly and some of the buttons and dials wouldn't function at all. Very much OVER priced!! We stayed at the Comfort Inn Airport in Portland, ME from Friday night until Tuesday morning. MUCH better quality rooms and everything else. Fri. & Sat., we paid a bit over $75.00 for each night. Sun. & Mon. was $68.16 each night (plus tax of course). Here, for 1 night, in a pretty much empty hotel and FAR less quality, it cost us $101.+, plus tax??? We're NOT very impressed and, will think twice before staying THERE again!!

9.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed here for a concert. Less than a .5 mile walk to the waterfront. Easy to find, the parking garage was perfect and the room was awesome!
Cons: Nothing bad to report!
5.0 Okay
Pros: Price
Cons: When we sat on toilet water dropped on our heads from the ceiling. Would have liked a rooftop patio or patio outside hotel
7.5 Good
Pros: Old city hotel with character that has not been updated and is a little long in the tooth. Staff is awesome and mentioned under new ownership and will be updating soon. Great location in downtown Bangor.
Cons: In-room amenities were lacking. There was no iron and the shampoo was in a packet. Minor, but thought I'd share. Mattress and pillows were old and lumpy.
7.7 Good
Pros: Great location in the heart of town. Friendly staff. The room was very spacious, but spartanly furnished.
Cons: The rooms are very basic. The building is old (which can be charming, but not in this case). Water pressure in the sink was low and the mattress was very, very soft.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: There was no breakfast.
Cons: The sink was filthy. Our room wasn't cleaned. The bed wasn't made. I asked for an attraction map of Bangor and was told you had none. (It says "tourist information" on your front door!!!) The parking situation was inconvenient... and expensive: $10.00 a day was outrageous.
7.5 Good
Pros: Location, large room
Cons: Was very hot and couldn't open windows. Free breakfast isn't on site, it's at an entirely different property. Paid WiFi, really?!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good location. Dated, but clean room. Quiet. Would stay again.
Cons: Parking can be a challenge. Mattress was slightly soft and bouncy for my tastes, but not horrible.
7.5 Good
Pros: The locations is the best part about the hotel, situated in the center of downtown Bangor. It was very easy to get to many destinations from here. The staff were also very friendly and courteous.
Cons: The "free" amenities were very limited. The free breakfast was half a mile away at their sister location, and the WiFi was only free for one day. The doors also are a bit tricky to open and close.
6.0 Good
Pros: Lobby & Bar
Cons: Some of the decor
7.6 Good
Pros: Cool character, has an older boarding house feel. Excellent place to spend a night or two if you want to be in the middle of it all. Not a chain, it is everything they are not, both in good and bad ways.
Cons: Warm room, too warm even with the ac on.

6.7 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: When we were given our room. It was already occupied. Front desk had to reissue us a new room.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The location was fine and the kids enjoyed the pool.
Cons: The breakfast was poor and not stocked at all. One woman was trying to keep up with a full hotel of guests and she just couldn't keep up with the demand. One of the mornings, the hours for breakfast were shortened and trying to get anything to eat was impossible. I would book somewhere else to avoid this issue in the future. The breakfast facility did not meet the needs of the number of guests staying at the hotel.
7.0 Good
Pros: Location and restaurant next door.
Cons: Charging for Pet's, our dogs are like our children and when we travel they come too. I think that it's atrocious to charge for pets.

Pros: The value I think this hotel is under rated. It isn't a 5 star but I'd say it is a 3 for sure.

Best rooms in Holden

The Lucerne Inn - Holden - Building
1
Quiet.
Cons: Windows needed cleaning. Clock wasn't plugged in. Would have been nice to have been able to check in at Sunday brunch.
