Cons: I was placed in a handicap room with no tub.
The Umstead Hotel and Spa puts you 5 mi (8 km) from the airport and within a 10-minute drive of PNC Arena. You can visit the spa to indulge in deep-tissue massages, body wraps, or aromatherapy, and American cuisine is served at Herons, which is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A poolside bar and a bar/lounge are other highlights, and rooms at this luxurious resort offer up nice touches like deep soaking tubs and iPod docks.
Pros: The staff the cleanliness and newest size of roomðŸ‘ðŸ¾
Cons: There was no room cleaners after a certain time like late evening
Pros: Clean and modern decor is appealing and welcoming to the guest.
Pros: Rooms were amazing. Very modern and clean. Breakfast was great too
Pros: The staff
Pros: It was great in every extra way...
Pros: New new new
Pros: Very nice
Pros: We liked the modern amenities. It was not a double sink in the bathroom, but it was set up in a very roomy manner that allowed for the room of a double sink. The bathroom was large and the bedroom and sitting area were roomy as well. The A/C worked well.
Cons: I chose this hotel because of the nice free breakfast which they offered. It was nice, lots to choose from and not all carbs but the scrambled eggs were way too dry, and the sausage seemed overdone, and we got there at 7:30am. Regardless, I would go back.
Pros: The bathroom was amazing. The room was clean and the furnishings very trendy.
Cons: The breakfast area was a bit crowded but other than that no.
Pros: Modern decor throughout. Very pleasing to the eye. The lobby is very chic too! Way to go, SHS! You exceeded my expectation.
Pros: It had the best bed and pillows I have ever slept on!
Pros: New, clean, quiet, friendly. Room was nicely designed.

Pros: Hotel is gorgeous, greeted with convenience of valet and breakfast exceptional. Tablet in the room was cool and convenient. Room gorgeous. Bed super comfy. I would stay there again it's been more time to try the spa. The staff was very accommodating in and available for any need.
Cons: Broken ice machine and fried green tomatoes. For a Resteraunt in the south you master this delicacy if you dare to serve it. By the way where was tub? Shower lovely but no garden tub a mistake in design.
At The Mayton Inn, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of PNC Arena. Guests can indulge in spa services and enjoy southern cuisine at Verandah, which is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A bar/lounge and a 24-hour fitness center are other highlights, and rooms at this upscale hotel offer upscale touches like soaking tubs and tablet computers.
Pros: The rooms were very clean and had beautiful bathrooms. The free cookies at check in/check out were a nice touch.
Cons: There were no free travel amenities. When I asked guest services for q-tips I was told they "are available for purchase" at the small store in the lobby.
Cons: Upon arrival we find out that are unavailable because they have no more king suites available. They told us that they found one available and we went up to our room. Once we unpacked out things and before we planned to go out for the evening we go to take a shower and we realize that the room is a handicapped room and the shower is extremely uncomfortable. I paid $130 for a nice romantic room to spend the weekend in Raleigh with my girlfriend for our first Valentine's Day. I was extremely dissatisfied with how the situation was handled. I would like a refund on my room due to the fact that the reservation was humbled by Doubletree Hot I would like a refund on my room due to the fact that the reservation was humbled by Doubletree.

Pros: Felt clean, comfortable, and safe. Close to some decent dining options. All around great value.
Cons: Staff was neutral upon our arrival -- not rude but not exactly friendly either. It didn't really have an impact really on our experience.
Pros: Location is convenient to shopping, restaurants, and airport.
Modern, clean, airy and spacious lobby with indoor and outdoor seating.
Rooms are modern, sheets and towels are fresh-smelling and clean.
Soaps and toiletries replaced each day.
Microwave, fridge and coffee maker in room-nice touch.
Free coffee in the lobby in the morning and water in the afternoon.
Newspaper is complimentary each day.
Hallways are quiet at night. Staff is very friendly, efficient and accommodating.
Stayed with my mother while visiting family who live in Cary area; she will find fault in any and everything, yet even she commented she would stay at this hotel again. Seriously, the best compliment ever.
Very reasonable price-excellent value.
Cons: Hook on door for towels was missing-a minor nuisance.
On check out day at 9:00 am maid knocked on door repeatedly. I forgot to put do not disturb sign on door. I answered and told her we would be leaving soon, but she spoke little to no English, and kept repeating when we would check out. She eventually got the message, but annoying nonetheless.
Pros: The cleanliness, the indoor pool, the free cookies, and the business center so we could buy and print our hockey game tickets. :)
Cons: We didn't love the bed comfort level, but we do have a temperpedic at home, so it just wasn't as comfortable.

Pros: I really appreciated the friendly and knowledgable front desk staff. They were very professional and helpful throughout my stay. I loved they layout of my room and the pool(even though I couldn't enjoy it) looked amazing and the people in the pool looked like they were having tons of fun!
Cons: Can't say there was anything I didn't like.
Pros: 2 bedroom suite worked well for father and daughter in town for a multi day swim meet (requiring afternoon rest by the swimmer). Mattress was fine.
Cons: Absolutely nothing plush about the space. Bedding was sad. The layer above the sheet (I can't call it a blanket) seemed like a thin mattress pad. It was soft. The coverlet had to be flammable. Both were only about as wide as the bed making it challenging for 2 people sharing the bed to have covers.
Pros: Overall the facility was great in a desired location with plus size on the amnesties
Cons: I don't know where to start about the staff. Lady was rude upon check in. Then when I get to the room it was not what I had booked. Took over an hour to come to understanding and still didn't get the room I booked. I will never stay here again
Pros: The location was great.
Cons: When we arrived to check in at 3 p.m., we were told that we'd have to wait 30 more minutes. We left to get an early dinner and came back 90 minutes later. Our room still wasn't ready. We were able to check in at 4:50 p.m. Then the air conditioner in our room didn't work and when that was fixed, it made such a loud noise we asked to change rooms the next morning. We were not able to get much rest with all of the noise. They accommodated that, but we had to take a room with a full size bed instead of the king like we had, and then the air conditioner in that room didn't work, so we had to call maintenance. While laying out by the pool, the workers were painting the building with their radio blasting and them talking, talking, talking, singing, etc. The three days we were there, there were cut tree branches in piles around the patio. What a mess. The hot tub at the pool was out of order as well. It wasn't enjoyable at all. We couldn't wait to leave.
Pros: If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of Cary/Raleigh, but want easy access to shopping and dining, this is a perfect location. The hotel was majestic from the outside pulling in, and the lobby/dining areas were the same. Very classy. The room was a king suite, complete with full small modern kitchen, spacious living area, very comfortable and clean bed in the bedroom (which was slightly on the small side), and the room had a romantic vibe to it. The only thing less than ideal was the free breakfast included. It was mediocre at best.
Pros: Very nice clean accommodations. Competent friendly staff.
Pros: Location was secluded very quiet
Cons: No vending machine
Pros: Room was very clean, spacious, and very affordable via Kayak. We saved over $150 for a 2 night stay with Kayak.
Cons: Hot breakfast was out of service on one morning.
Pros: My boyfriend and I loved the location. It was really close to everything in Cary. We also loved the room, it had a full kitchen and living room and balcony. Absolutely amazing. The staff was very polite. Everything was just so perfect!
Cons: We didn't like that by 4-5pm the building was shading the pool.
Pros: Plenty of space in a suite to have people meet after dinner. Very clean!
Cons: Bathrooms were a bit small and dated but clean and functioned flawlessly.

Cons: Bathroom wasn't clean enough
Bed pillows were not comfortable
Pros: Love staying at Embassy Suites, the omelet bar for breakfast and the large suites make the brand a good value for the money. Right off I-40 so easy to get around the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area. Complementary airport shuttle (runs every 30 min). Quick walk to a strip mall with a bar and restaurants in it. Plenty of parking. The indoor pool/hot tub/sauna was a good place to relax.
Cons: The rooms are starting to feel dated with the wallpaper border around the top of the rooms and the color palette was similar in vibe. The pool water level seemed a bit low since the water couldn't get into the side drains but was otherwise fine. Wish they didn't charge for wi-fi.

Cons: The room had some age on it, overall it was pretty clean but I was expecting a hotel that was in a little better condition.
Pros: Great service great hot breakfast

Pros: Clean, quiet room. Helpful, friendly staff.
Cons: Short length of breakfast hours on weekend.
Pros: The Holiday Inn Express Apex is a great hotel. Clean and comfortable rooms in a very good location. The staff is friendly and helpful. This is my second stay at the hotel and I will definitely be back.
Pros: Our room had a view of the woods behind the hotel. It was very peaceful and quiet.
Cons: The hotel sits behind a row of restaurants and you can miss it if you don't look carefully. There was one small sign at one entrance of the property that was barely visible from the main road.
Pros: Great Staff, nice rooms.
Pros: Very clean room. Everyone in the staff was very friendly.
Cons: Nothing bad to say. Everything was great!
Pros: Staff was very helpful, especially given how busy they were.
Cons: (Lack of signage) made it a little hard to find. Noise carried over from other room. Street exit was one-way. Parking lot and sidewalk were not cleared, making it slippery.
Pros: friendliness of staff
Pros: Free USA Today--just like every other hotel.
Cons: Plenty of breakfast food, but quality was low. No butter, only some whipped margarine-like goo. Lots of heavy starches & some inedible-looking meat. Bottled water only available at front desk.
Pros: (Hotel employee) at the front desk was so friendly! Clean, easy check in/out. I would definitely stay again if I unfortunately find myself spending NYE in Apex again I know where to stay!
Cons: Nothing, it was amazing.

Clean, nice rooms. The pool was still covered, even though it was 70-80s the two days we were there so that upset my son (one of the reasons I booked the hotel was for the pool).
Pros: The cleanliness of the rooms and housekeeping was very nice.
Cons: You need a sign noting to NOT take your pets in to the dining area. There is nothing noted and I was rudely told to get my dog out of the eating area (I wasn't where the food was, only where you sit out near the lobby).
Hotel was very nice. Could make some improvements with the heating and air conditioning to make it quieter. Make sure doors work.
Pros: Comfortable beds. Good food at breakfast.
Cons: Air Conditioner was very load. Woke up every time it went on. Bathroom door would not close tightly.

Pros: This is why I love Hampton Inn. You can count on impeccable cleanliness, a very comfortable, well furnished room and little unnecessary extras.
I was in town on business and initially went barebones, staying at a competing "comfort in simplicity" chain for two days, trying to save a few bucks. It was not worth it! My room was tropical hot, and I couldn't control the temperature and the wifi was spotty at best... Then the latest winter storm front stranded me in Raleigh for two more days. To dampen the aggravation of Travel Hell, I decided to upgrade myself to a Hampon Inn for the extra two nights. Once I checked into the Hampton, everything got instantly better.
The location is great. Several restaurant choices, the beltway within striking distance, and stores across Tryon road for all the stuff you didn't bring because you thought you'd be home by now. When I checked in, the complimentary cookies and very good fix-it-yourself coffee helped me to "reset" when I got to my room. When I logged into the wifi, I found Hampton now offers a five dollar premium wifi option (above the complimentary wifi) for those willing to pay for a faster, more reliable connection. Today, a fast, reliable internet connection is as essential as hot water! Of course, my room was impeccably clean; and everything was in great condition.
Having seen the stark difference, I'm a fan of Hampton Inn for business travel going forward.
Cons: I wanted a cookie every evening :-) but didn't see them my second night.

Cons: The first room smelled of stale cigarette smoke. The hall carpet was a mess and there were frayed edges at the door transitions. Overall cleanliness was poor. The second room was a little improved. No cigarette smoke odor everything else was about the same. We could have stayed in a similar hotel, in terms of overall condition, for less money. In fact we recently stayed at a newer facility for less.
Pros: The hotel had an excellent chef. He prepared us a delicious meal on our first night when we had just spent the whole day in the car. The rest of the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Cons: The only negatives were the pillows were very soft and the pool was having an issue.
Pros: You can check in early as 4 pm and I went at 7 pm and the room was not ready I have to wait 1 hr to I can check in
Cons: Floors the pool is next to the elevator and the hallway it was al wet because people coming out fro the pool walk to the elevator was all wet make the floors wet

Cons: The beak fast was not complimentary.
Pros: Was right off main road easy to get to.
Cons: Didn't have a free breakfast.
Pros: The friendly help and staff at the front desk.Food was good>
Cons: The distance we were from the city.
Would stay again!
Pros: Neat and clean and all things in order. Staff was friendly and room and bed were comfortable!
Cons: Area around the hotel was stark and seemed institutional. There were no trash bags in tiny trash cans which was somewhat unsanitary. I was glad I didn't have much trash!
Pros: Nice, clean, large rooms that were well appointed.
Cons: For the cost of the room, breakfast should have been provided. They sold Star Bucks coffee in the lobby but had a cheaper brand in the room.
Pros: Front desk staff is friendly. Ample supply of newspapers each day. They put my dry cleaning in my room for me when it arrived. This is the only Courtyard that I have stayed at that does that, and I appreciate it.
Pros: Nice room, very clean. Great location several good restraunts very close.
All staff from front desk to cleaning were GREAT! Helpful and kind. Hotel was quiet. Nice pool. Many walking distance restaurants from subs to pizza to steaks. Very comfortable beds and clean, clean, clean! Thanks, we will be back!
Pros: Staff polite and professional. Room was clean and nicely furnished, comfortable bed, frig, hairdryer, desk, sofa. Just perfect. Walking distance to restaurants although there is a nice café right there in the hotel with excellent service & delicious food
Cons: No, we found this hotel completely satisfactory.
The hotel was unusually quiet compared to most Courtyards I have stayed in. No slamming doors! Got a good nights sleep each night. Lots of food choices nearby.
Pros: The front desk staff was friendly and accommodating. The in-hotel 'bistro' was tasty (although a bit pricey).
The front desk staff was great! Very friendly and helpful. Didn't get a chance to try the Bistro but which we had.
Pros: Great hotel! Very clean and staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The location is fantastic too as we had to travel to Chapel Hill and Raleigh and Apex and Jordan lake. Would love to come back here again!

Pros: The day manager who helped resolve our choice to check out early was very nice. The bed was comfortable.
Cons: The couch was so uncomfortable you couldn't even sit in it. There was an unusual odor in the suite that was not pleasant but couldn't really figure out what it was. The rooms were outdated. The breakfast was a joke. Very skimpy!
Pros: It was a large clean room next to where we needed to be.
Cons: The front desk was not friendly at all. Barely spoke to us or even looked at us. We did not feel welcomed at all. Worst check in ever.... Felt like an inconvenience to her. Breakfast was poor.

Pros: The staff was fantastic from the front desk, breakfast and maid service. The personnel at the front desk gave us useful information about things to see and do. As a result, we will return next year and visit the areas we missed.
Pros: Staff was great Good breakfast
Cons: It just was a bit dated I t seemed small for a suite There where no HBO very few TV selection The exercise room was simply one treadmîl and à coûplè of dumbbells When I think of the name Marriott it was just lacking in areas
Pros: Room was good. Liked small kitchen.
Cons: Breakfast was below average. Small area to sit.
Pros: Our room was immaculately clean. It was wonderful to have the kitchen (and the kitchen was nice!). Nothing was broken. The hotel felt like a home away from home. A very pleasant experience.
Pros: My daughters and I loved staying at this hotel! The staff was very helpful and friendly and the wide open spaces on the grounds were great for them to get out and run around! The breakfast was amazing, so many choices and we never left hungry!
Pros: Clean room and comfortable bed.
Cons: Breakfast area seating is inadequate.
Pros: Great location and loved having the kitchen
Cons: The ac unit was super loud
Pros: I liked how people were turning up in the pool when we got there. And the room was really nice. The bed was comfortable and the couch was astounding.
Cons: The shower was really loud. I couldn't even hear my music from my bluetooth speaker.
It would be nice to have a canopy or some covering from parking lot to hotel door. Even when I let my wife out she still gets wet. The cooler in the breakfast room needs to be put up higher so people are not bending over. Need 2 waffle irons. If the pool is not used a lot you can enlarge the breakfast room to that area. Have a door to the parking lot for people in the other building to get to easier.
Pros: The bed was real comfortable
Cons: The breakfast room is way too small with only 3 tables & 6 chairs. With all the people coming at once it is hard to get your food. You're always bumping into someone. Needs to have twice the space with the coffee in a separate location by itself.
It's not really a good deal.
Pros: This is just average hotel for needy.
The staff was nice, I was very happy with the room(clean and spacious and it was close to my family. Only a couple of miles from the movies, shopping and dining options! The breakfast was pleasant as well.
Pros: The room was great for the price
Cons: The pool was small
Pros: The room looked newly remodeled. Very clean and very comfortable.

Cons: The middle sheets had some stains. Not sure if it was blood
Pros: Good staff very helpful and friendly good free breakfast very quiet
Cons: They couldn't accommodate us early even though we asked months ago and they said to call early.
Pros: Location and cleanliness.
Cons: I think we should have been able to get in sooner since we were from out of town attending a wedding.
Pros: Cleanliness, staff friendly
Cons: Price, as a retired professional driver the same room would have cost half the price.
Cons: Breakfast area was very small
Pros: The breakfast was very good and the bed was so comfy,
Pros: This hotel was very convenient and the staff are super friendly. They would try to the best to their abilities to accommodate all your needs. The breakfast was good and fresh. The hotel is also by all of restaurants and stores. No need to drive far!
Cons: I stayed in a 'non-smoking' room, but you still could smell smoke in the room. I guess it came from the vents. The staff should probably use better deodorized products to freshen up the rooms.
Pros: The room and hotel was clean and comfortable. A great continental breakfast too!
Pros: Conveniently located. Clean, quiet and comfortable room. Free breakfast and free parking.
Cons: Everything was great.
Pros: Shocked at the 2 star rating, should be 3. Very clean, newer looking hotel.
Pros: appearance of the room

Cons: Severely outdated bathroom, missing light bulbs in room.
Pros: Very comfortable rooms...pool was good.. close to everything.
Cons: Need a vehicle or uber, but everything pretty close.
Pros: Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room had more than I expected.
Pros: Very clean, great value, friendly front desk staff, new bathroom
Cons: Scratchy thin sheets, oddly small sized pillows, no fridge in room
Pros: We were just staying for one night and it had everything we needed.
Pros: The location was great. Very easy to get to and had lots of restaurants and nice businesses nearby. Very clean and comfortable. Very impressed by Best Western Plus
Pros: The room was spacious and reasonably clean and comfortable
Cons: The check in desk had a long line each time I walked by and it took about 10 minutes to get service each time with no eye contact or acknowledgement from the staff. The front desk staff who checked me in was disorganized and kept asking the same questions more than once. There was a leak in the hallway. There are stairs everywhere and I never did find the elevator. It is definitely not handicap or stroller friendly.
Pros: Front desk staff very pleasant and understanding.
Cons: Dirty, dismall and ended up leaving after 2 room changes got my deposit back from the agent. NEVER again. I stayed at a Hampton Inn and Suites, They should take a page out of their book.
Pros: Good location. Well maintained property, inside and out. Super clean. Very well trained, helpful staff with great attitudes, both in person and on the phone. Overall, an excellent property in all respects at a very reasonable price. From here forward, this is my hotel in Raleigh.
Cons: Nothing negative. It was all top notch.
Pros: Check in staff Renee was awesome! Room was nice and clean.
Cons: There was nearly no food in breakfast. It opened at 7am and we arrived around 8am to find no eggs, pancakes, low on juice. I asked the front desk as there were others behind us looking for food. It took 15 minutes for the person to arrive. We left just as she arrived.
There was a dog staying there. So now we must ask for no smoking and no pet rooms???
Pros: Easy in and out, no frills but nice clean room with adequate toiletries, friendly helpful staff.
Cons: Property could be kept up a little nicer on the outside.
Pros: Good value with friendly and helpful staff.
Cons: The internet WiFi was very poor. Even though my room was very close to the front desk, the signal was so weak I struggled to do even simple email. Good thing I wasn't planning on doing anything important or work related. This needs to be fixed if they expect business travelers.
The location is tough to find as it is tucked behind other businesses but once your are there, it is an easy on and off Rt1 for Cary or Raleigh.

Pros: Room was clean and comfortable. Has perfect coffee/teamaker.
Pros: Great staff, great breakfast, comfort level was great
Pros: This was a very good, clean and appealing motel. We are from Ca. And had trouble locating it. It is back off the highway and at night NC does not have street lights and no large signs to let you see it from highway.
Cons: Someone needs to do a better job with the breakfast. Bacon barely cooked! Sausage not cooked the 2nd day. Ran out of eggs. Large group of basketball women were there so maybe motel was unprepared for so many people.
Pros: Room very clean. Continental breakfast good with a wide variety. Staff friendly
Cons: Breakfast could be upgraded
Pros: The staff was nice. Our room was clean. Parking was convenient to our room and I liked the breakfast.
Cons: I booked the hotel as something fun for my sons birthday with the intent on getting good use of the pool and hot tub. The pool was cold and too small to enjoy with just 7 kids in the pool. The hot tub was even smaller and couldn't enjoy it because it was full with 4 kids and another adult. The pool room was obviously out of sight / out of mind as the room needed tidying up and a restock of towels. All the chairs for adults/non-swimmers were soaked because they are 2 feet away from pool (too close).
I clearly indicated on the website that I was booking the room for 1 adult and 3 small kids. I chose the king bed room because it was the best value and seemed like it would have met our sleeping requirements (3 kids on the king and the adult on the pull out). The king bed was great for the kids but the pull out sofa needs to be thrown out! Nothing positive can be said about the pull out bed. The mattress was so bad, I actually got poaked from a spring that stuck through it. The frame was so uncomfortable/unbearable I actually chose to sleep on the floor and was much more comfortable sleep.
I'm sure for the average traveler the hotel was fine but for my intentions and experience it wasn't worth the discounted rate of 79.99. I'm confident I could of had a better experience at another hotel at that price.
Pros: Bed was very comfortable and the room clean. Breakfast bar was well supplied.
Cons: House cleaning did not clean room on 2nd day.

Cons: I drove into North Carolin from a 10 hr drive and booked this hotel because I had business in Apex, NC. Check in easy. However, when I got to the room you can sense this Hotel is Really a MOTEL charging Hotel rates. The rooms looked clean but upon closer inspection it was not. Carpets are dirty. Tub was dirty. I couldn't even make coffee the tea pot had bugs. The towels smelled like they hadn't been washed properly. Upon leaving I saw a staff member feeding her young child breakfast. I tried to do an early check out and they refused. The front desk manager checked the room said it was fine too him, that he had the flu (no surprise) and didn't smell anything. THIS BUILDING NEEDS TO BE TORN DOWN. In the end they REFUSED TO GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK. NOT EVEN A PARTIAL REFUND WHICH IS WHAT I ASKED FOR.. I had to Go through hell to locate a phone number for Booking.com which is not in the US but Europe- the only nice person I spoke with during this entire ordeal. Agreed to refund me 20. Euros back to my card. I was charged 119.00 US. This is not about the money had the room been 60. dollars okay I would have been like you get what you pay for. But 119. with an unfriendly staff and nasty room.
PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMFORT INN OR ANY COMFORT INN FOR THAT MATTER. ONE WORD DISGUSTING. I don't travel often so I had no idea. I had to find another hotel and used a HOLIDAY INN in Cary,NC (5 minutes away) which Amen was so clean, super friendly staff. Breakfast was good. The charge was 99.00 less that Comfort Inn. I even had an incident where I booked for an extra night and had to cancel and they had no issues. Again book with this COMFORT INN AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

Cons: Doors slamming and bright parking lot light outside my window. There were no room darkening shades like at most hotels, just miniblinds so the light shone in all night.
