Pros: The location was great and the self catering facilities were more than I expected. Lovely rooms and extremely clean. The kitchen had everything and more, the bed was the best I have slept in for a long long time and the sitting room/ eating area was fab, lovely décor and relaxing. The homemade cake awaiting me on arrival was delicious, the hosts couldn't have been more inviting and I cant wait till my next time stay.

Pros: Cottage absolutely lovely place. Loved watching the birds and animals feeding at the bird feeders (red squirrels and woodpecker) Emma is an absolutely lovely host. There if you need anything but not pestering. Cookies on arrivals were absolutely gorgeous. Excellent place to take dogs as they have a field for them to run around in and was ideal for our 2 labradors. They definately enjoyed themselves. Will definately be returning
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The appartment was really spacious and tastefully decorated and equipped. It was particularly private but the view was stunning and the surroundings quiet and restful. Certainly a place to return to. Particularly appreciated the home made cake on arrival and the warm welcome yet the owners were not intrusive. The 'neighbours' were delightful - ducks, chickens and a few local cows! Lots of birdlife. Even a red squirrel. Slightly off the beaten track but not difficult to find - instructions on how to get to the property were spot on.
Cons: Loved it all.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is right on the main road with two good pubs within walking distance, Pat (the owner) is such a lovely welcoming lady who couldn’t do enough for you. Fresh cakes made every day, rooms cleaned and bed made every day. There’s a little shop next door to get your coffee fix or anything else you may need. The hotel is spotlessly clean. I stayed in the king room which was lovely and very comfortable. Room was not too hot or too cold, I stayed here during the Easter weekend and the weather was amazing so having somewhere to sleep that wasn’t stifling at night was appreciated! The hotel is within good driving distances to Kirkby Stephens, Appleby Westmorland, High Force waterfalls, Brough Castle and many more destinations. Truly a great stay which I’ll be more than happy to return again and again.

Cons: It was very warm in the room but there was a ceiling fan which was quiet and efficient
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room in the disabled bungalow was excellent. The staff were excellent, the food was very good
Cons: Unfortunately the stay classed with a group of primary school children having a bingo party in the function room. During the break between games, they were let unsupervised by parents and teacher, to run amok in the car park. This involved them using the disable access bars out side the bungalow as swing bars, and throwing gravel over the wall towards the river. The other side of the wall was a public foot path about 3 metres below, where most of these stones landed. The second break they were so awful I had to find a member of staff to complain. This may have been a one off but be warned.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location was lovely and quiet, breakfast was good, bed very comfortable, lovely room and view over garden, great lounges to relax in, very laid back and informal, a lovely break, just what we needed
Cons: Didn't realise that the food was mostly pasta based, my husband doesn't like pasta! However, I do and it wasn't a problem for me, so maybe I should have checked the menus before booking! When we arrived on Sunday things seemed a bit disorganised but apparently there was a shortage of staff and next day all was well.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The food was excellent and the staff were very helpful
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable bed breakfast was very good staff very friendly
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Unique property, friendly and helpful staff. Very comfortable and peaceful we really enjoyed it.
Cons: Small things but worth noting. We booked a dinner ( which was pasta, salad and dessert) the food was pretty good and good value. However the bread provided was store bought sliced bread ( it really should have been rolls or artisanal bread) and the server ( who was very friendly and helpful) served dinner in a old logo’ed t-shirt.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super friendly staff, food amazing and kids loved the private cinema and games room ! Was very relaxed and comfortable.
Cons: Nothinh
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Beautiful castle situated in a stunning location. When you arrive down the stoned road you think you’re arriving at the place you’d imagined. However when you disembark the car you’re greeted with an old lady who doesn’t care or has no idea what her purpose is, she shows you around with little dialogue and that’s it, not much learnt. I suppose the booklet left in each room helps to a degree. The rooms are nice for a picture but not kept in the way you’d expect, poor electrics, plumbing and hygiene. Loo brush was revolting, wallpaper hanging off, damp in the rooms.
Cons: Also if you’re gonna stop here book direct, we made the mistake (unknown to us at the time) that booking through a different vendor meant breakfast wasn’t included although we paid the same or higher price than other guests which is a con really. During check out I was asked to pay another £110 to finalise the bill. I paid £360 for two nights online which is already scandalous. They waived part of this in the end, but they’d charged us double for the bar. All sorted in the end but if I hadn’t questioned these extra fees then it would of been a sham. The honesty bar doesn’t work well. Alcohol is expensive so you should be paying for bar staff with that fee and not be helping yourself. Staff are never really around as you would imagine, so service is not existent. To call this place 5 star is a joke an insult. This place has charm and character but it’s worth less than half the price you actually pay. Would I stay again?, no chance, it’s a rip off and the people here run it like a farm house b&b.

6.8 Good
Pros: Nice helpfull person
Cons: Maybe we are not so good with youth hostels anymore and missed some luxury? We arrived very late, kitchen was a mess with uncleaned dishes and left overs everywhere. Outside it is a nice building, but inside I don't see the grandeur of this which is a missed opportunity When someone was using water, a lot of noise was in our room. In the morning we couldn't go out of our room because the door was stuck (which apparantly was the consequence of the carpet). We thought to find towels etc which wasn't the case. mattress was bad, as if you sleep in a hammock

6.8 Good
Pros: Location.
Cons: Was a bit cold.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Made to feel most welcome, and unexpectedly given a single room, which was much appreciated. Denise always had time to chat, even though very busy, so, as a lone traveller, this was good. The weather had turned quite cool , so the blankets provided were very welcome, as was the little heater in the room. The fresh strawberries at breakfast were quite a luxury, with a variety of cereals.
Cons: Nothing to complain about, or want to alter.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Relaxed, friendly and in a great building
Cons: Not a problem for my stay but just don’t expect shining new fixtures & fittings

Pros: The front room on the first level has lots of space, with a very comfortable bed and large en-suite. It was very clean and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We ate in the restaurant on two nights, both meals were great.
Cons: A very minor negative is, there was no table in our room. A plug-in booster for the internet with a table and chair would make working in the bedroom easier.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely little country village pub. Lively but not noisy bar with wide selection of drinks, good menu selection for evening meal and great standard of food. We booked the penthouse room which was newly recurved and very spacious

Pros: The people were so welcoming and helpful. Alistair helped with our luggage and along with Morgan and Imogen gave excellent service in the bar and restaurant. The Sunday roast was delicious and plentiful and the chef’s goulash was superb. Laura cooked a lovely breakfast and her scramble were the best ever! Location and parking were excellent and the bar prices were were very reasonable. We were able to watch the Cricket World Cup surrounded by some lovely locals and lots of friendly dogs.
Cons: Nothing spoiled our visit except that there was not enough time to sample a pint from every pump - see photo!

Pros: We booked the Fat Lamb at fairly short notice for a weekend away walking. It’s a great base for the Howgill Fells, which we’ve seen from a distance a number of times (on the way the Lake District and walking the Coast to Coast) but only just got round to visiting. The Fat Lamb is a great base, offering comfortable and welcoming accommodation with good food and good beer.
6.3 Good
Pros: Good location with friendly staff
Cons: Decor super tired
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We arrived on foot in the rain but were welcomed regardless of our state! Kind staff took our wettest gear to the drying room so we were good to set off the next day. We loved the quirky classic car (and other retro) memorabilia, which may say something about our age, too. sadly we didn't get to explore the nature reserve nor see the local area in good conditions because of the weather, but we'll come back when there's a better forecast!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Traditional country inn. Lovely views and relaxed atmosphere. Food enjoyable and large portions.
Cons: Rooms and bathrooms need updating.
3.8 Mediocre
Cons: Room was too small has no where to put stuff, there is a chunky cupboard in the room occupying too much space and not very useful. And the room is above the pub kitchen with loud noisy fan outside the window and smell from the kitchen, it was very hot in summer time due to kitchen below. Breakfast was average with grumpy staff service.

Pros: Location, friendly staff and atmosphere .Beer garden lovely in the sun with very friendly chickens
Cons: Think for weekend breakfast time is a little restricted.you only get a one hour window.

Pros: location is easy for sedbergh school, facilities are good...tea and hot and cold water and biscuits and chocolate. Being close to the country side also good, parking is easy as well. food was good, breakfast good.
Cons: the tv was very small and could not see it from the bed as the angle all wrong.... needs a bigger screen. breakfast should be available from seven am
