It was a great ambience. Deep in the woods. It was a beautiful sight to wake up to. Staff were very friendly and accomodating. We were not the best customers to deal with but they did their best to meet every need. It was very lovely of them.
It took about an hour or so to get from the city to the ryokan by bus. Cost us about 7,000 Yen to take a taxi from the station to the ryokan. Quite deep in the hills/mountain. Best to travel there by car.
Incredibly friendly staff, best miso I have ever eaten, dreamy onsen and location
The Ryokan is nice, bigger than it seems from the site. There are at least 6 rooms that can accommodate 3 people per room. We were warned in advance that there would be only one thermal bath available to be used alternately for men and women. Upon arrival we were given a timetable with access for men and women. On the evening of arrival it was respected but not the next morning. Considering that the thermal baths are the only way to wash yourself, there are no showers in the structure, only toilets, it was not very comfortable. The dinner is very good, but it is “do it yourself”, they give you a sheet with instructions for cooking and then if you are not able, they give you a hand. Breakfast is just typical. Only raw fish, raw egg, rice, miso, and matcha. The staff is nice and polite but very detached.
It is too expensive.
We were here in Feb so the snow on the mountains made for amazing scenery - hiking up the mountain was gorgeous - the hot springs were wonderful aswell
If your not used to sleeping on the floor futon you might struggle - but all in the experience - also be prepared for Japanese breakfast - if you do not like traditional foods bring some with you
