9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff are amazing and all of them went out of their way to make my stay memorable. In addition, the setting was spectacular, accommodations comfortable, with a great menu with lots of variety in the restaurant.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: location, staff was excellent, overall experience
Cons: the ac in my room had a leak and it dripped on my pillow through the night
7.5 Good
Pros: The attention was good
Cons: The villa we rented had AC problems, was leaking water the whole 3 days we stayed, my daughter slipped and fell, the stove wasnt working and they fixed it the day we left, water heater didnt work the first fay, they had it off, and dont turn it on unless you ask for it
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The espectacular view on my room
Cons: We didn’t have access to the beach
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing views, nice personal
Cons: The car cleaner spoiled the whole impression about the hotel. Trying to charge some extra money without previous agreement.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Swimming pool, food, service and views were first class. We enjoyed the 4km tropical forest walk. The whole experience was very relaxing.
Cons: 5 star experience. We stayed in other hotels which were closer to the beach.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The service provided by Santo, & Humberto was incredible. They made sure we were always comfortable, making adjustments and recommendations at the right moment really heightened our experience. The food was delicious and the portions were perfect. Thank you very much.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful setting, amazingly kind and friendly, accommodating staff.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super fancy and luxurious resort with breathtaking views of the mountains and the beach. Staff was super friendly, breakfast was great, rooms were amazing, and offers a lot of activities to enjoy in group/solo.
Cons: The pool was bit too cold to swim in, but on the positive side, an empty and beautiful pool made for a superb terrace to look at while you're chilling on one of the lounge chairs or having breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything, the pool , excellent food , environment, friendly staff
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful Place, perfect to relax, sip drinks or take a dip in the pool. The view from every place on this property is breathtaking. The attention I receieved was over the top. Waking up and seeing the Audi I rented cleaned was A+ in my book. The food was excellent, Although a little pricey... I thought this was
Cons: Obviously getting here is the first problem getting here. I rented a car and found the drive to be pretty easy using google map. The actual location turn/ exit is like finding waldo so keep your eyes sharp. The second gripe I have is that for a luxury hotel, their fridge game is non exisent. They had 2 nasty water bottles. I rather them fill it up and charge me if I use anything. Luckily though I stopped at an actual supermarket chain in Santo Domingo and stocked up. Closest place is 10 mins away in car, so if you have it use it. Third, would be if you buy your stay at a lower rate, they notice and try to cheat u out of free breakfast. Not that they treat you different because service was excellent almost annoyingly too good. Just seems they want ti suck every nickel off of you. Would I go again or recommend the place.... Absolutely.
Casa Del Mar Lodge - Santa Cruz de Barahona - Building

8.8 Excellent (235 reviews)
Overview Reviews
When you stay at Casa del Mar Lodge in La Ciénaga, you'll be on the beach and 11 minutes by car from San Rafael Beach. Featured amenities include laundry facilities and a safe deposit box at the front desk. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
7.5 Good
Pros: The View and concept
Cons: Bugs, mosquito, dark areas
6.3 Good
Pros: The staff was excellent. I accidently left my lap top in the bar which was a public area and when I returned I found it was gone. I was ready to write it off as stolen or missing but it was later recovered in the office.
Cons: The property is remotely located outside Barahona and the internet reception is spotty. Most of the time I could not get a reliable WIFI signal. The property is being renovated so you had to watch where you were walking. There was confusion about my reservation. I was asked via WhatsApp to deposit money in BanReservas but my CC was used to secure my reservation. At check out my room was not paid for, someone from the staff contacted me a day later and took my CC information over the phone. I have never had this happen before.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is located on the beach, from the room, directly from the bed you can see the sea. The room has a terrace where is a sofa or sun beds, a table, in the evening you can order dinner in your room and enjoy the sound of the surf. Also from the room there is access to the pool. We stayed for two nights at this hotel and it was the best two nights on the island. The owner of the hotel and all the staff is very hospitable. They wanted to give us maximum comfort. In the mornings on your terrace you will be served coffee in a kettle-thermos, then the staff comes and brings you breakfast. The area is very beautiful and well appointed. There is also a restaurant with very tasty food, the portions are huge. In one evening we ordered two dishes with lobster in the room, the portion was so large that we could not finish our meal. Restaurant prices are average. We were very pleased with the time spent here. Definitely we will come back again!
Cons: No air conditioning. There is a fan, but at night it makes noise. Sleep uncomfortable. The room was not very clean, but the bed was clean !! Even despite the cons, we were very pleased and recommend this place.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The people that worked there were excellent, some of the best I have met. The resort was very quiet and relaxing.
Cons: Their restaurant offerings were limited, ran out of ketchup and coke a cola. The owner was on site and not very personable.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location was ideal.
Cons: I couldn't find any complaints
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The place was really cool. It made us feel like home. Great team. The fact that every time you walk down to the Restaurant, you feel that own the place, this is a big plus.
Cons: I highly suggest to install ceiling fans instead of the one they are using right now. The room was a little bit hot and humid but overall it was a good experience.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Liked the view and tranquility of the place.
7.5 Good
Pros: Extra comfy bed Nice stone floor and wood decorations Breakfast on the terrace Friendly staff
Cons: No ceiling fan, the fan provided was really noisy The bathroom sink is very badly designed WiFi is spotty and there's no network coverage (might be a plus for someone) Beach is not fit for swimming
8.8 Excellent
Cons: There's no A/C
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I like how peaceful and family friendly it was.
Cons: There was nothing I didn’t like.
9.5 Excellent

Hotel Playazul - Santa Cruz de Barahona - Building
3
8.8 Excellent (133 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hotel Playazul in Barahona, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Barahona Central Park and Rincon Lagoon. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, multilingual staff, and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I love it
Cons: Everything was great
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were good and spacy with an excellent airconditioning. The service was very nice and friendly and the swimming pool not big but comfortable and clean. The views from the restaurant are really great.
Cons: The beach basically does not exist. The small beach area is dirty (plastic), and the sea does not really look like on the pictures. It is not recommended to swim there. So if you look for a time on the beach this is not the right place.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are of a good size, extremely clean, relatively modern and with a good location in relation to the pool. The hotel has a good size pool, great view, great gardens, even a hammock! My child loved everything about it. And the staff was super friendly!!!! For the money I paid, I was expecting to be a run-down hotel, but it was not. I enjoyed it and recommend it!! It is near the town as well as to other tourist sites.
Cons: It is literally up on a hill to the beach, with a great view. The problem is that the beach is unusable even though it has a set of great stairs that leads right to it. The problem is all the garbage that is accumulated there: bottles, disposable plates, cups, forks, spoons, and other undesirable garbage with lots, and lots of dry seaweed that makes almost a huge mountain across the beach shore. Why don't they clean it up is beyond my understanding since it is feasible to clean up with a three-day project with their own staff, and the maintenance it clean by doing it once a day. The guests will certainly enjoy it, and would give the hotel that extra value that is not getting for having such a filthy beach. It is really a shame, an unnecessary shame given that it shows that the owners care about the hotel. Please clean the beach up and make your hotel extra special.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Swimming pool
Cons: Beach is dirty
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location is beautiful, the staff is responsive and kind, the food offered at their restaurant was tasty, the rooms aren't fancy but pleasant.
Cons: We did have a problem with a little mouse, which was handled by the staff in under an hour while we enjoyed some food at their restaurant ON THE HOUSE (thank you!). Some of the electrical wiring behind the fridge's outlet was sticking out (where the mouse came from, presumably). A minor inconvenience, but one nonetheless. The hotel's beach, which seems to be it's main attraction at some point, is filled with trash. This was a surprise and we were left with exploring the local public beaches (we visited Quemaito beach, which is your average rocky beach filled with locals playing loud music and eating average food offered at some food shacks near the beach, limited parking available).
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The pool
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Tranquility. Near of the city but enough appart
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: the only thing I liked was the people that worked there are friendly, everything else it is not worth the price.
Cons: upon my arrival, I had to pay cash because the machine was broken. then the room it is super hot, and small, the air conditioner is loud, the beds are unfordable, there was no refrigerator, not hot or cold water for shower, the floor in the bathroom was messed up, I think this place it is not even a 1-star hotel. I would not recommend this place to anyone. also, the power goes off and on so I had to wake up and start the air conditioner again.
6.8 Good
Pros: For an affordable place to stay with a nice ocean view near Barahona this hotel is a fine choice. The staff was friendly and the pool area was nice although we didn’t swim. The room was old and a little worn, but it was comfortable. The included breakfast was great.
Cons: The biggest disappointment was the beach below the hotel. It was covered in garbage and completely unusable, worse than I have seen anywhere in the DR. It is sad that the hotel hasn’t done anything to keep the beach clean. This alone will keep me from returning to this hotel. If you can afford one of the nicer hotels in the area then I would recommend that unless Hotel Azul makes an effort to clean their beach.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff is amazing The chef is the best, everything he makes is a 5 star plate. The owner is very gentle The views are stunnings The place is breathtaking I would stay a month here if I could
Cons: Some rooms don't have fridge.

Pros: Hot water in the shower Free water Cleanness ok
Cons: I tooked chock of electricity 2 times touching the switcher in our rooms.. don’t worth the price of 53$ for one night Also with the food because what’s they give you is low quality and nothing is fresh no fruits They could do an easy effort about the quality of the food to compense the old style of the hotel like do fresh soup which cost nothing to them, Do fresh coffee propose fresh juices.....
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice breakfast and supper service. Pleasant and helpful wait staff. Quiet clean room.
Cons: Internet Wi-Fi did not work. TV cable also didn't work.

Cons: I didn’t find anything negative about it
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very accommodating. We had to change our check in date by a day and adjusted at no charge. The complimentary breakfast menu was very adequate. The pool and view are exceptional. The location of the balcony room with the ocean breeze in evening and morning was the best
Cons: Pets around restaurant
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast is really good!
Cons: Mosquitos
7.5 Good
Pros: we had to get used to it - quite a lonely place, looks a bit out of its best time but the new manager is striving to make it a wonderful place. she reacted immediately as air conditioning wasnt working right and there wasnt hot water. service in the restaurant (and breakfast) depended very much on the staff - sometimes quick and very friendly, sometimes a little bit uninterested, but over all always very polite and good. nice pool with the view to the sea. two little shady places above the coastline to spend quiet time. if you seek recuperation that s the place to go. Of course denpending on other guests. 2 minutes to go to a small beach, not cared for - hence some rubbish, empty plastic bottles. a bit further on along the coast (manager advised for using the car, but it is only 5 min by feet, though over stones) you can reach the "el quemaito" beach.
6.8 Good
Pros: Breakfast was great, excellent choice. Good evening menu too
Cons: Beautiful room but a bit noisy due to thatched roof. Bed not particularly comfortable either.

Pros: The owner of the hotel was really nice with us. She brings us to restaurant, we visited together the aguirille area (crocodiles ) and she provided us a way to visit the larimar site. There are also two lovely dogs in the hotel, perfect for the children to play with. A good place to stay.
Cons: The lack of hot water.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was amazing. You are two steps away from the beach. The women who owns the hotel is incredibly kind. at one time we were the only people there and she would wait until we would wake up around 1 or 2 and make us breakfast.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent

Pros: We had a wonderful time, it is a peaceful place with great food and lovely staff.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was awesome! Super well placed, fun activities, treehouse was phenomenal, beautifully secluded place. One of the best places I've ever stayed at.
Cons: Not really a flaw, as it is part of the experience, but I wasn't a huge fan of the super bumpy road getting there. But again, that's the price you pay for going to a super secluded part of the city :)
Hotel Loro Tuerto - Santa Cruz de Barahona - Building
9
8.0 Excellent (170 reviews)
Overview Reviews
When you stay at Hotel Loro Tuerto in Barahona, you'll be near the beach and 7 minutes by foot from Barahona Central Park.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were really friendly! We came in the middle of a wedding but we were still very well taken care of. The room was what we expected, the AC worked quick, and the hotel was little and cozy! We are just on our way through but we would definitely recommend staying here.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Good location, clean, nice, helpful and friendly staff.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed for one night and will return to this property. We checked in early and the staff member even made us fresh juice while we were settling in. We enjoyed the hammocks in the little courtyard and were able to walk to restaurants easily.
Cons: There isn't a designated parking lot, but we were able to park right across the street.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely little place with caring and attentive hosts. Juan gave us two sets of mosquito spray against the little beasts. The hotel is located right in the city center from where you can walk around easily. As all rooms open towards the yard behind the main house (at the street) the hotel perfectly suits groups of travellers.
7.5 Good
Pros: Close to Caribe Tours, air conditioning
Cons: The door of the bathroom did not close and the wooden window could only be open, making it easy for mosquitos to find the bedroom. WiFi signal was sometimes weak. And last but not least we were a bit tricked by a person whom we believe was part of the staff (“Billy”). He proposed us a tour to Bahia de Las Aguilas. He did not really want to negotiate the price for the tour (which he charged 8500 pesos, about 170 USD, instead of the initial 9000 pesos for 2 people). But in the end the tour was just a drive to the Bahia (with return), in a bad quality van, without any explanation or stop on the way. And we had to pay ourselves the boat from Cabo Rojo to the Bahia (2300 pesos). Once at the Bahia, we did not have any water or meal or seats. So, for those interested in going to Bahia de Las Aguilas from Barahona, we highly recommend to go with EcoTour Barahona. They pick you up in the morning at your hotel, the price of the boat at Cabo Rojo is included as well as a meal on the beach with fresh water. And they charge less than Billy. We went with EcoTour the next day to see Enriquillo lake and had a much better time.
6.3 Good
Pros: Easy to find, quiet surroundings, nice yard to relax.
Cons: wifi so-so (felt a bit slow), staff could be a bit friendlier, a bit expensive for the value.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Ann and Napole are the sweetest people ever! Made us feel right at home.
5.5 Okay
Pros: The administrators are very courteous and friendly, as people I like them very much. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. We also made arrangements with the neighbour for a laundry service. There is a colmado 5 houses down the street for cold drinks, snacks and other things...tbey also make fresh tostads and empanadas. The beach is nearby but its a rock beach not sand, bring water shoes. A pool was being installed during my stay, which is a plus for future visitors as I did not have the opportunity to swim in it.
Cons: AC unreliable due to construction but was not mentioned during booking. Poor air circulation in room due to design for coolness/breezes. No shampoo or conditioner until i asked for it. Shower is unnecessarily small - there is room for a proper sized shower, there is no need for such a tiny one. Construction started within a day of arriving right behind my room - again this should have been advised before booking and I should have been offered a significant discount for having to put up with it for the 15 days of my stay. Wifi signal is especially poor. We had to sit against the wall adjoining their apartment to do anything. Getting things like a lightbulb replaced took 3 days....unnecessary. Breakfast is included but several times there was no sugar or milk to go with the coffee despite having paid for it included in the stay. It seems making breakfast is an inconvience to the administrator, if so then it shouldnt be offered as sometimes the meals were great and other times it seemed liked leftover slapped together. Because the breakfast is brought to the room at a certain time and there is no phone in tge room i was often woken up by a knock at the door. I got sick from food at a restaurant (not from napole) and had a fever, but because the ac was not working it was so hot in the room that I developed a heat rash.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host are are super nice. Very servicial and nice people.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The service, good accommodation of the host, very clean, good running water and good breakfast
8.8 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect place with creative rooms, just 500 m from the beach. Nice breakfast. Very hospitable host. Immediately you feel like at home. Napole, thanks a lot!
7.5 Good
Pros: THE PERSONAL ATTENTION FROM THE STAFF
Cons: THE BEDS, WERE UNCOMFORTABLE
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Anna and her husband were so nice! They went above and beyond by changing money for us and driving us around for souvenirs. Anna offered us juice and coffee at night and breakfast and delicious coffee in the morning. Super clean and lovely rooms !
Cons: Wi-Fi was broken at the time, hotel does not furnish hot water, noise from highway
6.8 Good
Pros: Beautiful vistas of the mountain in back nearby and a faint one of playa Quemaito 5 minutes walk diagonally across the road. The place wasn't overcrowded, and the shower has great pressure, though very cold
Cons: Shower stall is a cramped enclosure, room has only a bed, no fridge or counter top or chairs. Clothes storage in bathroom only. Walkway access to rooms is crowded by 2 sets of patio chairs and tables. The patio area is accessible only by a narrow spiral staircase.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Helpfull over all. Help me to hospital and Everything.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel La Saladilla Beach Club was anything but a noisy club. Beautiful view, comfortable rooms, supportive staff, quite hotel, good wifi and parking. Bonus one of the few places that takes corporate American Express!
Cons: The only down side is they don't serve late diners and they are a long way from the nearest place to go eat.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast! The pineapple preserves--made in house--was so good we suggested they offer it for purchase. Staff was most accommodating.
Cons: All in our group of five were satisfied with location, services, etc.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Security guards at the spot which was great. One of the two security guards will go for your food if you order it from the city. Front desk was very friendly and helpful.
Cons: The price for 2 nights was over the top for the location to the city. As well as difficult to go out from one place to another. Hotel lacks their own personal taxi driver. They cleaned my room and did not clean all that well. Restaurant in the hotel closed early at 8pm. After that it is a bit difficult to get food from there seeing as you are about 10 minute car ride to the city.
7.5 Good
Pros: Quiet
Cons: No Access yo the beach
6.3 Good
Pros: Breakfast was good. Pool was clean and enjoyable. It is close to town (Barahona) and other beaches.
Cons: They did not accept booking.com reservation and had no room available when we got there. We went back 2 days later and did stay for two days. The hotel swimming area is very loud with music playing late into the night. I had to use ear plugs to sleep. There was no tv service during the two days we were there. I would not go back on my next trip.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff is very friendly and the cook is making very tasty food. Good excursion to Bahia de las Agulias, Los Patos and San Rafael beach with the hotel suggested very friendly driver Willy Gomez.
Cons: The beach in front of the hotel is not nice.

Pros: Dinner was great!! And we were served in the nice terrace. Cordiality if the staff.
Cons: The furniture of the room and overall interior. Breakfast is not a buffet.
6.8 Good
Pros: The staff was nice and the property was clean and safe.
Cons: The hotel’s location was terrible. The closest beaches were too rocky and the water too rough to swim in. Not very many local businesses were open past 10 or 11.
5.5 Okay
Pros: The spaguettis, very goods. The location is quiet and near of "Los Patos". Touristic place. Near, also, of the Los Cocos wind farm.
Cons: The doors and the windows of the rooms are very old and don't provide adecuate isolation for sounds and air, from the outside. The wifi connection was poor and with difficulties to connect. The hot water sometimes fail. The breakfast don't offer enough options, eggs and little more. The dinner yes, several options, including fish and seafood but, too much cooked all. The swimming pool, without water enough to use it. Very expensive all for the quality offered.
4.5 Okay
Pros: The eggs during breakfast were tasty.
Cons: South "Beach" hotel but no beach at all (cannot even walk to). Location is a bit in the middle of nowhere. Swimming pool was half empty so didn't use. No breakfast buffet but rather some eggs and some bread + tea/coffee.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place was beautifully maintained. Very clean and food was delicious.
Cons: Not hot water, no acces to the beach.

4.3 Okay
Pros: Breakfast wasn't bad and the staff was very friendly and accommodating.
Cons: It was the hottest room I have ever stayed in. When we arrived there was no grid power therefore no air conditioning. You could open the windows but there were no screens and a lot of mosquitoes. Decided to take a shower to cool off but there was no water either. When the power did come on the air conditioner only blew hot air.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The service was superb.
Cons: The owner struggles to prevent blaring music from an adjacent bar from disturbing his guests. It will interfere if you are a light sleeper.
7.0 Good
Pros: The room was comfortable and the staff friendly
Cons: The beaches nearby had too much debree
7.0 Good
Pros: It was a small, intimate hotel. The room and bathroom were large and had covered private verandah for the upstairs rooms. Nice attention to construction details and use of local materials. The verandah was a huge plus , we ate breakfast and supper there each evening.
Cons: The hotel is in front of the towns cantral park, and the first evening was very loud with local music and many visitors. It certainly added Dominican atmosphere, but we were looking for something more peaceful. There was no water pressure unless there was power, and the power outages were long. Difficult to shower under the cool dribble of water that came from the shower head. No hot water. The hotel advertised a restaurant, but the menu was very limited and of the dishes advertised a number were not available. We are happy that the hotel respects the breeding season for lobster, but would be nice to include that information on the menu, with the dates, so that expectations are not raised.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Extremely friendly and helpful hoasts little extras like a welcome drink, fresh coconut at breakfast, superb location!
Cons: Very little, maybe an information sheet with hotel and location information would have been useful?
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff was great. An incredibly delicious breakfast was served. The views are beautiful and swimming pool very nice and clean. Great place for privacy and remote location. Near the Larimar mines. We arranged a trip for four for about 2500 pesos (about $51 US total from the manager's husband. Much cheaper than you will find anywhere. This is the only larimar mine in the world.
Cons: No A/C as described online. Fans were ok and helped. Crashing waves on beach.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Such a lovely place full of good vibes. We were feeling even better than home there. Warmly recommended.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice owners and staff. They help us or give very accurate advice, when we need something. They have a book with the tips for trips around - written by guests. Great breakfast. Very nice hotel. Big room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The B&B is located near Barahona in a lovely house with a nice big pool and a fantastic view of the ocean. Norman and Joyce were very welcoming, helpful hosts who did everything to make us feel comfortable. The rooms were clean and comfortable. For breakfast we could choose from a variety of options with fresh fruit. The location is very good with external access to the sea and a lagoon. There are good restaurants a short drive away.
Cons: Nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Joyce and Norman were such lovely hosts. They did everything to make my stay confortable. The beach next to the hotel is nice. A quiet place (without mosquito !!) There is a small place called Don Manuel where you can eat very good food for a low price. I hardly recommand the Hotel Panoramica Barahona.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Joyce and her husband were always very helpful and attentive during the stay. While the hotel is far from the city of Barahona, you have many things nearby: beaches, restaurants, shops (grocery store). The hotel is comfortable and the facilities are in excellent condition! Thank you for making us feel at home!
Cons: -
8.8 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful little hotel with only three rooms. Fantastic view from the main bedroom balcony over the coast. Lovely thatched out-building by the pool where they served breakfast.
Cons: The owners were away in Canada when we visited, and the family who looked after us, while being very friendly and as helpful as they could be, didn't speak any English. They sent out to a local cafe for the evening meal, and on the day we arrived it was closed, so we had to drive out to Barahona. But these are minor points.
4.5 Okay
Pros: The view from the balcony and terrace. Size of the room.
Cons: We were REALLY looking forward coming here after all the wonderful reviews about the hospitality of Joyce and Norman. Unfortunately they were not present themselves. We had the feeling the upkeep and maintenance has not been properly taken care off. The bottom of the swimming pool was covered with dirt and the pool was only cleaned on the day we were leaving. The air conditioning was only fixed in the late afternoon some hours after we arrived, the balcony had huge cracks (in one section half of the railing was missing), the bathroom had missing tiles filled up with gravel, the jacuzzi-bath was missing some tiles so you were able to see all the pipes underneath. The water in the shower was cold. The pillows of the chairs were torn and the bed was not very comfortable because every time my partner or me would move, the whole bed would shake. The feeling was not that of a hotel: the hosts were living in the downstairs area and displayed all their personal belongings. So it was more like a guesthouse/B&B. Given all of these shortcomings, $90 per night feels massively overpriced...

3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Hot water
Cons: There is no road to go to the hotel. Is a rock path and it was very hard for the car to go through. The parking is very limited. The property is old. The bathroom did not have soap, towels or toilet paper.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room had some issues with the air conditioner and the fan, but the owner help us solve the issue by giving us another room.
Cons: The room was recently painted and it was still smelling to fresh paint.
4.5 Okay
Pros: The owner is friendly and cooks very well. Los patos in general is a cute little town and worth a stop, especially the section where the river meets the sea.
Cons: The property was probably nice some years ago, now it feels a bit abandonned with cleaning/ construction stuff lying around. The room was shabby and we had to ask twice to get the water in the shower work, and it still just came out drop by drop. Overall way overpriced for what it is.
4.3 Okay
Pros: The owner was flexible enough to let us check out after the first night and pay only one night, whilst we had booked two nights.
Cons: We booked a Queen economy room and when we arrived the room had no air conditioning, the toilet wasn’t working, there were no mosquito nets in the windows and the room was drab in general. So totally opposite what was described on booking.com. We were allowed to switch to another room with air conditioning, but this was with only one window facing a wall, and it was dirty with old cobwebs on the ceiling etc. There were used soap bars from previous guests in the shower, indicating that there had not been a proper cleaning before our stay. Also there were holes in the mosquito nets here. We booked including breakfast, which meant you could pick 1 thing from the breakfast menu, but for example fruit was a separate entity so if you wanted fruit that was all you got (or you had to pay extra). We also ate dinner at their restaurant the first night, and the pasta was very salty which we pointed out. The lady in the kitchen was asked to make me a new one, but the owner came to me to point out that it was actually not salt at all, just spicy. Like as if I can’t taste that difference and regardless, maybe not the best way to react to a guest’s complaint. The fish was okay though, but not spectacular.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very nice grounds and pool, nice views of the ocean from some rooms, good linens and towels, good wi-fi. Very peasant owner and staff and the breakfast and coffee was fantastic. Only a few minutes walk to the beach, river and stores.
Cons: There was some confusion on my room rate, even after showing a copy of my room reservation. Perhaps it was a language barrier issue. The walk up the short dirt road was not a problem for me but if one has a problem walking and no car, the walk up the short dirt road maybe a problem.
