Bed was very comfortable!
The shower was not wonderful.
Last Saturday we checked in at the 'Hotel Passeo del Arte'. In the afternoon I brought my young daughters to bed for the siesta but that was impossible because the room (number 224) was really, really noisy because of all the sounds of the surroundings. You could hear not only the busy traffic, but also really loud the people talking and screaming on the street. I noticed the bad condition of the windows which need to be replaced by new ones. I asked the reception for another room and they moved us to room 714. I hoped it would be better, but unfortunately this was not the case. Of course I understand that the hotel is located in the city centre, but the windows are really very bad. During the night it sounded like we were sitting right in the middle of the street and it was really impossible to sleep. We had a terrible and frustrated night. I stay in hotels most time of the year because of my job, so I know that also in the city centre hotel rooms can be really quit when they have windows of good quality. Which unfortunately here is not the case. I made a complaint to the staff and wanted to talk to the hotel manager, mrs. Laura Cabello. The message was that she was never in the hotel on Sunday and there was no manager on duty. They would pass her my e-mail and message and she would get in touch with me. You can guess, I never heard from her. So I visited the hotel again Monday afternoon because I was still in Madrid. She did come to talk to me but the only thing she could say was 'sorry, which you could see she did not mean. She did not listen to my complaint and she did not want to listen to the movie I recorded, so she could have heard that the noise was terrible. She said that the windows were good and she just sent me away. I paid € 350,- for a night without sleep. I find this really a very big disappointment and the most frustrated I am with the attitude of the general manager mrs. Cabello. Do not book this hotel if you need to sleep!
Good selection for breakfast. Good location, near the Prado and Retiro Park. Also good restaurants and bars within 10 minutes walk.
Maid service, we were 3 in a room and after the first day had to ask for a third towel every day. Soap tablet in the room when we arrived but taken away ( when hardly used) after that leaving us with just shower gel to wash our hands. Minor point but breakfast maybe should open at 6.30 and not 7.00 for people catching early flights.
Good location and very clean
Excellent breakfast, so much choice. However, for a 4 star hotel, coffee should be much better.
No English language European TV channels available; only Russian (Russia Today) or American (CNBC, Bloomberg). Unbelievable. Have stayed in many 3/4 star hotels; BBC always available.
