Location. The bed was excellent. Generally unfriendly staff to include the Restaurant folks.
The best part of staying at this hotel was access to the beautiful beach and the view. Every room faces the gulf. The room was clean and toiletries were higher end. The tv guide was missing, the pillows were lumpy and the bed was further than i prefer.

The rooms and the view were amazing. When I booked the hotel it said I was getting a king bed with balcony. I came to orange beach with my fiancé. However, when I got there they gave me too queen size beds, knowing we were together. Mind you I booked the room a month before. I had to argue with the front desk for thirty min until they FINALLY gave me what I asked for. Why not just do it right the first time? Why tell me you don't have an availability and then thirty min later when I said to cancel they said "oh we may have a room actually...." Get the f... Out of here. Really? Not to mention when you ask for towels the manager front desk lady has the biggest attitude. Great view but without good service this place is nothing. Treat people how you would want to be treated. I will not be coming back.
Family friendly Staff wasn't very friendly. When I checked out the woman had her cellphone out and vapor cigarette. She was short with me when I asked if I would receive a receipt.
Loves the Island House Hotel. Right on the beach, complimentary pool towels and beach towels, cafe on premises with great food and reasonably priced, and plenty of room on the beach. Highly recommend!
The location was good. The pool is nice. They didn't furnish a refrigerator or microwave. They offered to rent one for $20 / night. It seem everything was for additional price.

Availability when we had no other options! Rude check-in staff. Had to ask for towels and TP. Breakfast room was not well stocked. Refrigerator was not cold. TV was terrible. There were no carpets. Too far from beach.
Not much, close to beach but you have to cross a busy street Upon arriving we went to our room, kicked off our shoes and chilled for a bit, I had to go use the restroom, there was no toilet paper to be found, my husband picks up the phone to call the front desk and no dial tone, so he had to go back down to the front desk and get a roll, then we see they didn't stock towels and the bottom of our feet from walking around in the room are now black. The only thing housekeeping did to our room was make the bed and the coverlet was either stained or dirty. We paid good money to get a room at this time of year, but I'm telling you here and now,we will never stay at this hotel again. It wasn't worth over $700.00 for three days here.
Friendly staff, clean rooms, clean pool. Very cold air conditioner. Older building showed its age. Cheapest rate by the beach on Gulf Shores, but you get what you pay for.
It was next to beach! I just didnt think it was worth $156.00 for the one night. The breakfast was horrible, no hot food, just dry cereal and pastries, with packaged oatmeal, and i should of stuck with my first mind and that was staying at Hampton Inn which i should of paid the $180.00..
The room description was wrong! No private balcony, no ocean view, room was old, smelled terrible, had holes in the wall, mildew in the bathroom, cracks in the ceiling, staff was rude and the elevators smelled like pee, also after second day there wasn't an ice machine that worked in the building! Never again!!!!!!!
Loved that this hotel was so close to the beach! Facility was clean. A bit dated not a big deal and didn't effect our stay. The floor are tile which made sand a big issue (of course being near the beach im not sure carpet would be better).

We stayed for three nights and the first two morning we were awoken by very loud and repetitive banging on the door by housekeeping. Just not very curteous at all.
The Hotel was across from the beach which made it very easy to return back in case of forgot items. Also, the hotel did provide laundry rooms and ice machines, which made things easier overall. The cleaning service came to my room once during our 4 day stay. We did not leave "Do not Disturb" signs on the doors, and still we only received clean towels and had our beds made once.

Everything was kept super clean and the whole staff was amazingly friendly. Have stayed here once before and it was just as great each time. The rooms are nice and the view is perfect. Good distance from the water and awesome pool area The restaurants were extremely expensive and they didn't let our pizza delivery lady come up to the room. When questioned, the answer was so that we would be more likely to buy from their restaurants.
Good food. Kids had fun at the pool. There was a left over ice cream in the freezer when we got to our room. I kept wanting to put more foil on the rabbit ears on the tv. Tv sucked. No microwave to reheat your left overs. What hotel doesn't have a microwave? Oh and the tv sucked.
Slept great in the bed. Very comfortable pillows and mattress, and the room was very clean. The view of the gulf overlooking the pool was gorgeous. The piano player in the lobby was great and many people enjoyed dancing in the evening. One of the elevators was broken, so their was only one working on our side. Their was a retreat that weekend with hundreds of loud and obnoxious teenagers. We hopped on the elevator after waiting for it for about 10 minutes and the 10 kids that were on it had pressed all of the elevator floor buttons before they got off as a prank. It was really really annoying. We finally made it to the 9th floor where our room was and unloaded. When we went outside to relax on the balcony the kids at the pool and on the balconies across the hotel on the other side had laser pointers flashing and shining in our eyes. We saw the potential of having an enjoyable time had everything worked and the kids not been there but unfortunately we did not enjoy our stay at all. We wanted to eat breakfast the next morning at their restaurant but it was so chaotic and crowded the wait was too long. We ended up going to Waffle House and leavaing early.
Had everything we needed. Destiny at the front desk was the most pleasant and helpful person we came across. The industry needs more stars like her. Be aware of your room location. We could smell the garbage that we were put by the whole time. Latitude30 service was terrible. Slow, and not how we requested. Charged for items we never received but manager never was available. One server on a holiday night.
They had every kind of food, from pizza and ice cream to seafood, and at a pretty reasonable price! Plenty of lounge chairs by the pool and the beach. They also had an outdoor bar and a nightclub! And played music all day! Didn't need to leave once! Pizza and brunch were delicious! Can be loud at times because of children, but it's a family place so you can't expect it to be perfectly quiet. Next time I would choose a room on the outside of the towers facing the ocean instead of the pool area (but still a great view of the ocean on the pool side!) Patios were very small. Could not fit 3 people on it comfortably at the same time.
Beds were comfortable. Hotel was clean. "Angled beach view" was as advertised. for the one person who could see it at a time, the vbiew was okay. The other person was out of luck unless they wanted to see the neighboring condos or their pool Room size, Difficult to control the heating/AC TINY bathroom "Angled beach view" was as advertised, so when combined with the minuscule balcony, only one of us could sit on the balcony and see the beach/ocean at the time. There was room for the 2 of us, but only one could see anything
Proximity to beach and local amenities. We found no fault.
The room was very nice, clean, pretty spacious. We had no complaints with the room or staff. We just thought it was a bit overpriced. I will qualify that by saying, I know it was peek season but at 299 a night it was a bit much. We are use to staying in a multi bedroom condo with kitchen for those prices. We were just staying one night and a lot of other places were booked up so I understand. I'd stay again under similar circumstances.

Our balcony was huge with an amazing view of the beach . It was room #5015 . Everyone was so friendly and the place was very clean . We will stay there again ! No negative comments on the hotel .
Location on the beach-undeveloped lots on either side so their beach area was uncrowded/Hampton Inn guests only. Complementary breakfast was convenient with a variety of hot and cold food choices. Large indoor/outdoor pool area. Only two elevators, and no stairs to the lobby area. If you took the stairs, you exited into the parking garage.
Cleanliness of the room. Staff was nice and helpful. Construction on the property next went on too late into Friday night making it difficult to sleep.

This was a nice hotel. It was less than five minutes from the beach. The staff were all very friendly, it was clean, and the bed was very comfortable! I wish there had been a refrigerator for our drinks, other than that I have no complaints!

Booked no smoking. The room they originally gave me had been changed to no smoking only 3 weeks prior. The next room they gave me was the same. Finally the 3rd room didn't reek of smoke and an ash tray. Was very disappointed. They offered to not charge my card, but I had driven over 8 hours and didn't have another place to stay. They seemed very worried they might have to upgrade my room to fill my no smoking request. I have bad allergies to smoke and tobacco and the staff were not pleasant to work with.
Service was polite, room was clean, we didn't really ask for anything so it's not like we got to see much of the staff anyways. We just wanted a cheap place to stay so we could enjoy the beach. But while we were there it was acceptable. No real complaints here. There's no elevator in the first building because there's only 2 floors. Call me lazy, but I didn't like carrying all my bags up a flight of stairs.
I enjoyed the way the room was decorated and the cleanliness. The room did not look the same size as the pictures-it was much smaller. They had friendly staff. The location was excellent as well by the beach and fun attractions. I didn't care for the confusion upon first arrival. They could not find my reservation. I was almost charged double for the room. The breakfast was dry, hard, and tasteless.

I like the fact that it is right on the beach and we can hear the waves with our balcony door open. The hotel is clean and the staff is good about helping the guests. We have been to this beach and this particular hotel several times. It generally has the best value for a beach front room that is in a decent hotel. They don't have a complimentary breakfast. You can either pay for their breakfast bar or go down the road a bit to get breakfast. The beds are adjustable for firmness but I have trouble personally finding them comfortable. Our first night one of the air bladders in the bed was broken and we were so tired we didn't bother reporting it until the next morning. They did move us into another room for the duration of our stay as quickly as they could though.
The location is great. The breakfast there was great at $9.99. The room was clean, plenty of space and a Kuerig Coffeemaker.
Good location and beach access. Random room cleaning. The WIFI sucks big time. Plus they have blocked any outside signals. Want to send a text or email without paying them $5 a day, nope. Better go out to the street.
The view of the beach was very nice. We enjoyed the balcony and ocean view. The staff was very friendly and accommodating when we decided to stay an extra day. The atmosphere in the lobby was inviting with fresh water and coffee. The warm breakfast also included omelets or French toast made fresh. The only suggestion for improvement I would add would be to extend the beach chair/umbrella rental time. We rented the chairs for two days (Friday and Saturday) and we weren't ready to leave the beach at 5pm when the workers started removing the cushions and umbrellas.
The staff was nice and the location was great. The breakfast was great as well. Bathroom was moldy and rusty. The carpet was stained. There wasn't significant disrepair but general disrepair was everywhere. In general it wasn't bad just not up to HGI standards.
Dining was off the top! The room had the most gorgeous panoramic view overlooking Mobile Bay. Flowers were in bloom with the grandest of old oak trees. The music in the lounge was entertaining, and I have never had a better time!! The service was beyond reproach.
Thanksgiving 2007 was may first stay at this resort. The landscape was beautiful. Majority of the staff was helpful and polite, but I did have an issue with a waiter at Buckey's not wanting to serve our table. The female waiter/bartender completely ignored us, pertending to clean the bar and surrounding tables, when the male waiter/bartender came back to the bar, some minutes later, she told him to wait our table. The food at the Lakewood House was wonderful, the best food we had at the hotel. The other dining prices was too expensive for quality and okay taste of the food (i.e. $39.00 for breakfast buffet). The spa was wonderful. The beds were extremely comfortable. The resort supplied many activities. Overall my experience was a good one. I would be happy to return again, but the majority of my meals will be outside the resort.
I spent 4 nights in the main building at this resort. Hot water for the shower was limited and roaches were present in the room. Disgusting when they share the bed with you. The service and food was excellent. The staff was very friendly. The room was dated, but clean. The grounds were well kept and the scenic view of Mobile Bay is nice.
I live less than 15 minutes from The Grand Hotel; but when I visit, it feels like I am thousands of miles away! Yes, the prices are high. However, this is either a four or five star resort; and I always find it shocking that people seem shocked that the prices are as they are. This is to be expected! Otherwise, the ''beautiful grounds and landscaping'' which so many people love wouldn't be maintainable, the staff shortened, room service slower, amenities fewer, comfort lessened, etc. I am by no means wealthy at all. In fact, I am a single Mom with three kids who depend solely on me for income and support. This is, in fact, why I do visit this resort! I can drive a few minutes, check in with few bags, stay a SHORT TIME so that I do not blow my budget, and leave feeling refreshed and unstressed by long travel experiences. Even though the cost is high, one may take advantage of our year round pleasant weather and visit during off season, use various discounts such as ''AAA'' or other organizations. Marriott points help a lot, also. One might enjoy staying about two or three nights with a discount, especially if a local to the area or within close distance of the resort, and still come out less expensively than staying at a ''cheaper'' place if you know how to be creative without acting ridiculous and ruining your vacation by trying to save a few pennies here and there. Be pampered and stop whining! I have stayed in this hotel at least 30 times; and love it every time. I budget out $***; and eat room service once a day late morning, then dine out in the evening; which does save money. Try it!
On the positive side, the campus of this resort is beautiful. A lot is invested in landscaping. Also, the beds were the most comfortable I have ever slept in at a hotel. The food is good, almost great. The staff is generally polite and helpful.\n\nThere is a lot of negative however. First, food and amenities are very over-priced. I don't mind paying more for those things if they exceptional, but these were not. In addition, my dining exerpience was often impeded by the server pestering me for a method of payment either before or during the meal. I was told it was hotel policy. It is a bad one and I felt insulted every time it happened.\n\nWhile I did not personally experience this, about half of the people that attended the same conference I did went at least two days without hot water for bathing. The hotel did offer restitution (Marriott points, a free breakfast or half of the room charge for one night).\n\nThe campus is sprawling and getting anywhere entails a bit of a walk. However this worked out for me since the highly touted fitness center was closed for remodelling the whole time of my stay.\n\nOverall, my stay was both good and bad, and there was enough bad for me to not recommend experience.
I reserved a room with a view of the bay. When we arrived I was told the only room they had available for us was great because it had a view of the marina. When we got to the room (which was nice) all it had was an expansive view of the parking lot and the building on the other side. If I stretched I could look around a large tree and catch a glimpse of a couple of masts. A balcony overlooking the water is important to us. I would not have made the reservation had I known we weren't getting what we paid for. A little honesty and an apology would have been appreciated. I don't know if I can recommend The Grand because the trip was spoiled by the way we were treated. We recently stayed at a hotel in San Diego that made us feel as if we they were so very pleased to have us as their guests. It doesn't take much.
We returned from the Grand feeling relaxed,refreshed and eager to go again. The staff (wait staff included) seemed to go out of their way to be helpful and friendly. Nothing we asked for seemed too much or a bother. We loved the beds, the spa, the pool,and the wonderful weather. Hope to return real soon.
Every one was so nice and willing to acomodate your every need. Price includes free hobie cat, bikes, and kyate. Pool with waterslide great foe kids. You could stay here and not have to leave for anything. Beds were great. Rooms were clean. Some of the help was younger and they were a little less interested in your needs.
We have been to the Grand many times and always loved it. This time was my first to have some negative experiences. First was the coffee shop, overcharged for my ''cappucino'' which was really a latte and awful at that, undrinkable. Taken off my room bill but the waitress was unpleasant. Next was the restaurant, service slow, food not up to par, very expensive for the quality. Loved the swimming pool but I will think twice before going back. Need to upgrade the food services for this price tag.
This is the second time we stayed at this particular hotel. Although the atmosphere and scenery is excellent, service was lacking. We had major problems at check in, since our stay was a gift from relatives. The staff at the front desk did not seem to want to take the extra time to help us or actually look into our situation and charged the wrong card after we asked them three times to double check which card was billed. Also, the amount that was taken out of my account for drinks at Bucky's Lounge was higher than the amount that I signed for. I know that these things seem small for such a beautiful, luxury hotel, but I feel that luxury means that these situations should not occur, or be handled better when they do occur.

A very short walk to the beach( short enough for my 2 year old) but they also have a shuttle if you need it. Several restaurants, ice cream shop, and grocery stores in walking distance Nothing to complain about except maybe better eggs with breakfast. They serve premade egg foam circles (but still very edible)

It was in a great location. Right on the beach, within walking distance to The Hangout and many other restaurants. For the price, I was expecting immaculate rooms, the room was a great size beings we had a king suite, but it definitely needs to be updated, furniture was horrible! For the price of 349.99 a night I expected much better rooms. The lobby was newly redone and looked great, so I figured the rooms would be the same!
Oceanfront view, breakfast (Pancake House), beds were somewhat comfortable. No laundry mat or a bit outdated, not enough channels.

Even though we did not have an animal with us, I loved how this place is pet-friendly. As a person who works with animals, I was very impressed with the cleanliness and well put together the hotel was. The staff was very nice. We did have a closet door that was broken, but all I had to do was call to the front desk and make them aware,(as I did not want to be charged a damage fee), they made note of it.
The room is big and very clean. There's a kitchen in the room. It'll be very convenient if you stay several days here. I like this hotel!

Great spot to relax and enjoy the gulf coast at the coast. accommodations are more than adequate with great staff and pool, with easy beach access get to gulf coast and experience a great time, our second year here the only drawback was the noisy carts being used by the staff early and late in the day.. need some rubber tires, not plastic on the tile floor bring your own umbrella and chair as rental is high
Loved the staff and hotel! All aspects of it! People saving seats around the pool and not being there all day. Elevator was slow but we enjoyed and used the stairs.
Friendly staff with close proximity to about anything you could need. I had sausage and egg on an English muffin for breakfast and it was yummy (and hot). My husband had some of the small waffles b/c he wasn't hungry enough for a large one. He said they were good as well.The room was clean. It is not a 5 star establishment but for the price I was pleasantly surprised and would rate this as an excellent place to stay, especially for those on a budget. It was rated a 3 star on one site and AFTER I booked it I saw only two stars so I was concerned I had booked a nasty hotel! This is why I was pleasantly surprised!

You aren't close to the beach and the room cost alot. The room was very small and the bed wasnt comfortable at all.
The staff was very attentive,the whole compound was landscaped to reduce most if not all road noise. We were very impressed with our stay. The only thing I could possibly come.up with is that the A/C was a bit noisy during the night. But that's because a light sleeper.
Location over priced for what it is
My husband and I went down to the beach for just a relaxing weekend we actually arrived a couple hours before check in but the room was ready and we were able to check in early which was a plus! We will be staying here again! The hotel staff were so friendly and helpful. And for the price it was just an all around comfy room and just a nice relaxing atmosphere. And who could beat having a Starbucks open 24/7 in the hotel. That was awesome..!! Nothing bad with our stay!

Hot breakfast until 9:30 was good. Theres a bar within walking distance that was a neat place. And its next to some nice walking paths. Comfortable beds and great bathrooms also. Only an outdoor pool was really the only downside.

The room was very nice and clean. There were children above us running up and down The halls screaming and slamming doors at all hours. My family and I didn't feel relaxed. We could not rest.

I liked a lot about most Holiday Inns and this was no different. It had a lot of convenient / cool amenities, like very delicious hot breakfast, a gym, a pool / hot tub, Bed Bath and Beyond lotion, etc. I really appreciated that they had soft and firm pillows on the bed and labeled it accordingly! My friend that I traveled with is a little bit of a germophobe and she lifted up both of our beds to check for bed bugs. We definitely didn't find any; the rest of the room was also very clean. One of the only things I didn't like was that our room couldn't get Wifi Connection. When I called the front desk, they did offer to switch our room, but we were already settled in. It was okay, though, because I think most of their rooms have Wifi, just ask if that's something that's important to you.
We were very pleased ! Bed comfortable and room was very clean. Only complaint was a loose toilet seat that they fixed. Otherwise we would definitely go back. Best deal for the money and close to lots or restaurants.
Clean comfortable room right across the street from the hospital. We were there to greet new grandbaby. Will stay there again when visiting our children in Fairhope. Price was right. hotel is a little older, but clean.

Location and king size beds for price.

I really have no real complaints, this place was just what we needed. I enjoyed our stay.
Basically everything at the Tides is great. Previously, we had typically stayed at a regular Best Western or maybe once at a Plus property. The quality difference on a Premier location is evident immediately with this place. The property opened in June 2016, so everything has that "new" feel to it. The entire building has a contemporary beach chic style to it. The lobby is on the fourth floor, and joins a large dining/lounge/bar area with huge windows and an unobstructed view of the Gulf. This space serves multiple purposes, including a bar area, entrance to the spa and the dining area for their free and ample hot breakfasts each morning. My wife's only critique: no bacon. But I enjoyed the two varieties of sausage available. The pool area is definitely nice but not necessarily remarkable. It has an outdoor bar with pool and hot tub partially hidden under the building overhang. A little more separation from the bottom-floor parking lot would be nice, but still pleasant. The property has its own walkway directly onto the sand, which is a must for us. The fire pit along the side of the pool bar is a nice touch, and was a welcome stop after a chilly evening walk on the beach. Rooms mainly start on the fifth floor, which guarantees a great view - if you select the right room. Some are "beach view" which means somewhere along the side. There are only about 25 "beach front" rooms, which mean they directly face the water. Be sure to ask for them if that's what you prefer. All told, this is a great property, and we will probably stay again. My only complaint is the same I always have: the pillows and mattress. The bed could easily be fixed with a small foam mattress topper. But the pillows are the typical hotel terrible. I eventually used 4 to get comfortable. Bring your own. Our bed's comforter also had a small stain on it, but this was minor.
Location was perfect, right on the beach, comfortable bed, nice views, friendly staff. Very small bathroom, shower not really clean, my hallway smelled terrible. Like poop. I was on the 3rd floor. At night time when we were sleep my husband & I smelled poop.

The proximity to the beach was great! Room was small but everything seemed new or newer. Well..The proximity of the beach greatly diminishes when they lock all the outside doors. The front door was the only one open. When I asked the attendant, he got rude and told me they had noise complaints so they locked all the doors. Wouldnt you just stop the noise instead? And the AC unit was way over its head in the room. Kinda worked...sorta.
Myself and a group of friends came down to Orange Beach for the Florida George Line Concert. Sleep Inn had a great location that was easy to find. Clean room and overall very clean hotel. Staff was super friendly and knew the area well. I think it's a really great place if you have to do an overnight or maybe a weekend stay. We rented a two bedroom for 4 people; there's going to be a space issue no matter how you look at it, but I feel that even with only 2 people there wouldn't be much room. It was an excellent room, but do know ahead of time it is a little close quarters.
Confortable room. Quaint pool area. Balcony is a plus, but a bit small and narrow. We weren't given the option of having a beachfront room. No rooms are smoking. No microwaves in the room. Elevators are extremely slow. Very small continental breakfast, dining area too crowded to tackle alone with a 10 month old. Beach access slightly inconvenient. Definitely overpriced. The majority of the hotel faces the adjoining condos and hotels rather than the beach itself.
Hotel was conveniently located My wife and I had to leave the night we were scheduled to stay around 9:30pm to get home to our 15 month old who had a bacterial infection. So we were not able to stay the night. The hotel told me to call expedia who "approved" the refund. The front desk person advised me I would then have to call back and speak to the GM to talk refund. Mr Bolin informed me I could not even get a partial refund because they could not book out the room to their sold out hotel. In case of emergency do not expect any "understanding" from Mr. Bolin. 3 important things I have learned from this: 1. Each Choice Hotel is independently owned and operated so a refund of some sort could of been given. 2. Sleep INN in Orange Beach values their $220 more than genuine understanding of the situation and my son's health. 3. I will never stay at a Choice Family Hotel on my dime again. I will tell all my friends this story and recommend the Hampton Inn conveniently located next door. Hope your "policy" was worth the lost business.
Great view and right on the beach, staff was amazing...very comfortable beds Ice machines didn't work and needed some general maintenance and repairs done around facility...parking was horrible
Great location, good breakfast, clean room Door to the bathroom was broken, shower was partially painted, toilets didn't flush properly, ocean view was more of a parking lot view, and the minifridge was extremely loud.
Price was okay, proximity to beach was great. Bathroom needed to be cleaned a little better
We didn't spend much time in the room because the beach location was perfect. Great restaurants in the area. If you love BBQ then try Moes across the street. Seafood at Sea and Suds to dine and watch the waves. The staff was friendly and eager to please but Betty the breakfast hostess was delightful and so pleasant every morning. We were very pleased with our stay.

The continental breakfast was excellent and the facility was nicely decorated. The mattress on one of the beds in my room was very uncomfortable, it was like sleeping on a hump . My room was handicap accessible as I requested , it was not however equipped to make ease of access better for a person with mobility issues.
Best pool in foley, an actual breakfast buffet not just cold donuts and stale travel size boxes of cereal. The room was immaculate and we received a warm smile and extra towels upon request. We have found our HQ for our next Foley stay at the Hampton Inn. Thank you for kayak for helping us find this place!
