clean rooms, staff (my luggage didn't come of the plane and the staff called the airport several times to check the status). beautiful pool area, breakfast (fresh orange juice and home made fruit salad every morning). great place to chill at the pool. The hotel is located near a very busy road (SS114), the main road of Giarre. Giarre itself is a not very interesting village: cars, cars, cars. there are only 3 rooms with views on the Etna, the other rooms are much smaller too. We stayed in the building close to the exit. When we turned of the airco at night, the noise of main road was audible. We do not recommend the restaurant. (best restaurant: Ciampoli in Taormina, it's on top of the building of the 5 star hotel El Jebel. fantastic views, great food and value for money: 6 course menu including a bottle of wine and water for 120 Euro(for 2).
restaurant and pool
we like our room very much, everything was shining! Friendliness of the staff! Poor breakfast buffet
The situation of the rooms in the beautifull citrus plantage with the swimming pool from where you can see the sea and the etna is really very nice. A good place to relax, yet just outside Riposto. Also a good place to visit Etna (north and South), Taormina, and some beautifull beaches are easily reached by car. Rooms are fine with a private porch. Breakfast is good quality. Also the evening meals in the restaurant are prepared with care, good taste and good value for money in comparison with restaurants in town. We would stay here again. The location is not so easy to find the first time (and even the second time). In the rush hour the main streats of Riposto and Giarre are crowded. It would help if a map with access alternatives is provided.
The staff went above and beyond to respond to our needs and were always friendly and cheerful. One staff member arrived at 5am to prepare breakfast and open the gate for us because we had an early flight. The breakfast was substantial and dinners were excellent; the cook happily made items not on the menu. The location provided mountains, country and beach all in one quiet peaceful location. We felt very comfortable. The roadsigns leading to the hotel took us to a road that was closed and it was very difficult to find another way to the hotel. Need to provide alternate directions.
Very nice stay at the hotel. Nature, lemon farm, warm atmosphere.
We really loved it out at Galea Agritourismo. In the middle of the lemon trees, with the lovely restaurant, rooms and swimming pool and places to sit outside. Not to mention the view on the Etna in the morning. Staff is very helpful and friendly. We had a very relaxing and assured feeling here. Very good food in the restaurant. Compliments to the chef. Would recommend it to everyone. Only downside was that we had a room close to the kitchen, which was really noisy. Especially when door was open. Sometimes there where big diners for a big group and the kitchen only stopped working at 4 o'clock in the morning. A pity, because all the rest is top.
Apart from the quiet and lovely location amongst lemon trees, the italian cuisine of the restaurant was the best we ever had! The staff was really friendly and tried to fulfill all wishes. Good place for children as there is plenty of space around the hotel and a big swimming pool. The Galea Farm House was not easy to find due to road works.
Beautiful site and lovely service. Enjoyed our stay immensely, thank you.
Guisy and Valerie could not have been more accomodating and friendly, and went out of their way to offer help. The location was beautiful - flowers, lemon groves, and views of Mount Etna. Secure parking and air conditioning were free. Convenient to public transport - train and bus.
The friendly and helpful attitude of the staff, Ms Giusy, impressed us very much. She gave us a warm reception as well as attending service during our stay. Easily reach Mt. Etna and beaches. There are good restaurants nearby. No TV in room.
peace and quiet. opportunity to have dinner on one night of typical sicilian food. excellent and good value
Warm and helpful staff, big garden, very privat. Noisy
We liked it very much! A great place to stay and next to the (little) trainstation of Calebatiano. We liked the people that helped us very much! And can recommend this for everybody that want to see Taormina or the complete area. Very close to the highway (you can hear the sound very good), but this is in no way a reason to not go to this lovely place.
The grounds were beautiful and our room very comfortable although air conditioning would improve it. If you go on a Sunday the restaurant is not open. We did not know this and went there particularly for the sicilian food experience, which meant that we were very disappointed and had to settle for an over priced average meal in town. The breakfast was also not as expected, the juice was of the cartoon variety and yet we were surrounded by oranges, there was no fresh fruit etc.
The setting and surroundings are lovely. All was very good. Perhaps a clear sign stating the Name in Large letters would be of help.
Antico Borgo is a charming old building set in a lovely garden bursting with colour and surrounded by groves of lemon, orange and other fruit trees. It provides very comfortable, well-appointed accommodation within easy reach of Catania, Taormina and the coast. It is one of the most friendly, welcoming and hospitable of places you can imagine and just remembering it brings a smile to my face. Fresh orange juice for breakfast comes from fruit picked from the tree that morning. And the view across to Mount Etna is stunning. I loved the place and the people. I couldn't fault the hotel itself. The only disadvantage which others have mentioned is its proximity to the busy autostrada but the rooms are quiet and air-conditioned and the noise is not at all intrusive.
Good location Very noisy (close to motorway), no air conditioning (only ventilation), the windows can not maintained open because the nise and musqitos
