Pros: It's actually a bar that has some accommodation separate from the bar area (which I discovered to be common in Australia/New Zealand). The rooms were also secured and tucked away to help prevent anyone from randomly wandering up there. I found it to be pretty quiet, and the bed was quite warm and comfortable. For a single person, the room was more than spacious enough, and the bathroom and kitchen facilities down the hall were well-maintained. The staff was very friendly and accommodating as well.
Cons: There didn't seem to be any heat in the building. Considering it was getting close to winter in New Zealand, it got pretty cold throughout the whole building. Fortunately, the bed was surprisingly warm, and I slept comfortably that night. There was a little dirt/dust on top of the comforter and the table in the room, but hardly anything worth mentioning and not anything near enough to get my things dirty. The kitchen didn't seem to have hot water from the tap, but the communal bathrooms definitely did. Also, the wifi doesn't really reach the bedrooms, so you have to go to the bar if you need to use the internet. Overall, just some minor inconveniences for me.
Pros: Loved the location, felt secure in building, staff was very helpful
