9.6 Excellent (95 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Matemwe, within 6 km of Dive Spot and 7 km of Mnemba Island, Maji Lodge provides a private beach area. 8 km from Muyuni Beach, the guest house features water sports facilities and barbecue facilities. The property offers a shared lounge. At the guest house, each room is fitted with a wardrobe. A continental breakfast is served every morning at the property.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is in a category of its own. It is a beach house with only 4 rooms so you almost feel like you are in your own place even when renting only a room. The garden is beautiful and well maintained like the rest of the house. Freshly prepared breakfast is served in the garden each morning and for lunch and dinner there are some decent options only a short walk on the beach, shortest being a new local place with decent food just beside the property. In the kitchen you can help yourself with a cold beer, wine or some snacks in the any time of day or night. The area is very safe and has somewhat classy feel with all the private villas on the beach. It does not feel overbuilt like some other places on Zanzibar and it would be a shame for that to change in the future. I must mention the people taking care of the guests and the house. Everyone was absolutely wonderful and were making us sincerely welcome. We felt like everyone is giving us extra attention but in a very non obtrusive kind of way. We liked the place and the relaxed vibe of the beach in front so much that we came back after spending one night in Kendwa.
Cons: Everything was great!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. The staff was very kind and helpful, and the owner as well.
Cons: Nothing. Maybe a sign would help to find the lodge, and a bottle of water in the room would have been great.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Maji Lodge is a very relaxed and laid back guesthouse with amazingly nice and attentive staff! Price is very good for what you get. Mboka, the manager of the guesthouse, was absolutely lovely and made us feel right at home and she helped us with all of our questions and provided everything that we asked for. The location is incredible, right at the beautiful Matemwe beach overlooking the Indian ocean. The view was right out of a postcard! Breakfast is very good with fresh daily changing fruits, and you can choose from omelets, eggs prepared in different ways or pancakes and great coffee. Breakfast chef was a cool and funny guy as well, as all the rest of the staff! There is the possibility to cook for yourself in the guesthouse kitchen, but there are also plenty of hotels and restaurants just a short walk away along the beach, where you can have lunch, dinner or just go for a drink. There is also a fridge in the guesthouse packed with beer, sodas and water and you can take anything you want, mark it on a piece of paper and settle your bill when you are checking out. You can also organize snorkeling trips to the nearby atoll, spice tours, spa treatments, transport to/from Stone town etc. through the guesthouse. We really enjoyed the week that we spent there and we really recommend Maji Lodge!
Cons: It is a small gripe, but the internet connection is far from great. At times it was not working at all, and if it was, the connection was very slow. We were in Maji Lodge at the end of the rainy season and the rooms felt at times quite moist inside, but if the fans where turned on, it was helping with it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Maji Lodge is a cosy spot along the quiet beach of Matemwe, where you can lounge on the beach chairs, hammocks, or head out for activities you can arrange with the resort e.g. Stonetown tours, snorkelling. We stayed sadly only 2 nights but would have loved to extend our stay at Maji. Thank you for the hospitality!
Cons: None
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Great place to stay
Cons: Transport from Airport. It's very expressive. Could be even $50
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Literally everything else!
Cons: WiFi was spotty
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Flexible: we did a late check in but everything was still very easy
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location and value for money is so good. Breakfast was delicious and filling, and the staff are friendly and helpful. There are lovely touches everywhere, from fresh flowers in the room, to good quality Zanzibari shampoo and gel in the bathroom. It is quiet and tasteful, feels like being in a lovely home. Next door on the south side is the best local restaurant Ceviche, serving the freshest, most delicious food! Highly recommend staying here.
Cons: There was nothing we didn't like, everything was wonderful!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved our stay at Zanzibar Sunrise at Bandas! The stuff was so friendly and everyone wanted to have us a nice stay. The breakfast was extraordinary and so was dinner. We loved exercising Yoga in the morning and there were 4 very good Local Musicians during our stay in the evening.
Cons: Everything was fine!

Pros: Everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything at this property was exceptional from staff to scenery! The individual bungalows are beautifully appointed and offer an exquisite view of the Indian Ocean. The live music show they have on Friday night is incredible and provides a wonderfully diverse collection of local performers and traditional music. However, the one thing that ranked my stay as extraordinary was the kindness and attentiveness of the staff, chief among them were Naila and Rosa, as well as the property manager, whose name I sadly never got. I booked my stay for the weekend of my birthday and the staff went above and beyond to ensure that my birthday was special. They surprised me with a personalized birthday cake that was made by the hotel chef. It was delivered to my room by the staff who sang happy birthday, almost bringing me to tears. They also gifted me with a massage that I attempted to pay for on checkout. All told, this is an amazing property. The staff truly couldn't have been more lovely and thoughtful and the space itself more peaceful and relaxing. I will be back again for a much longer stay!
Cons: Everything was stellar. The only issue was the construction that was happening beside my bungalow on a Saturday (which happened to be my birthday). When I complained, the staff dealt with it swiftly and effectively.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: The view from the beach front bungalow was perfect. The staff from the restaurant, bar and the trainee girl were very friendly and helped us and answered every question. Reef walk is a must during your stay here Thank you Bandas team.l
Cons: During the night, the sound of the waves can wake you up.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beach location Amazing food Brilliant staff Live music was perfect
Cons: Genuinely couldn’t fault it
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Zanzibar Bandas is a little paradise. We loved to stay there. The cabins are beautiful and right at the beach (we have not seen similar in any other place). In the morning you wake up to the sight of white sands, the beautiful colors and sound of the sea. Breakfast and food is delicious. There is music 2 - 3 times a week (very nice, not too loud). Staff is very friendly and supportive. What else would we hope for!? We will be back!
Cons: Nothing at all. This is the perfect place!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The view from the beach front bungalow was perfect. The staff from the restaurant, bar and the trainee girl were very friendly and helped us and answered every question. Reef walk is a must during your stay here Thank you Bandas team.l
Cons: During the night, the sound of the waves can wake you up.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We love the place and its chill atmosphere. They are free yoga session from Monday to Friday and you can borrow shoes to go in the sea as they are some urchins. We love the fact to be able to eat whenever and wherever, even in the room. The breakfast is very great and food in general! We also very much enjoyed the music on Friday night with great artists! We very much recommend this place! Matemwe is very quiet so it is good for relaxing but the sea is not the best to swim as of the tide and wind. But except that, we enjoyed very much our stay!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: At first I thought I booked two nights for €160, but I made a mistake as that is the normal price here for one night, which is a bit more than we would normally pay for a hotel but what an experience it was. One of the best places I ever stayed. Located on what must be one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, the bungalows are huge, you get your own private little pool and the service is excellent. Also the restaurant is really good and the live music is a cosy, extra touch. Even after we had moved to a different place, they still arranged our taxi back to Stone town for 20 dollars less then our next hotel would. Perfect place!
Cons: It's a bit pricey but totally worth every cent.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location for people looking to be closer to nature. Great beach, lovely food (local fish and seafood), helpful staff (especially Latifah!). Also, lovely coconut soap/shower gel/shampoo! We had the plane leaving at 21:30, they gave us another bungalow to stay till we left free of charge!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: - Great and very clean bungalow. - The breakfast and Dinner were delicious. - very friendly staff, always very helpful - great Yoga classes in the morning from mon to fri - Airport Transfer worked perfectly fine, even in the middle of the night
Cons: Some problems with the wifi but they could quickly be solved.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast and service from the owners and the staff. Everyone was friendly and made sure that we had a comfortable stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in Zanziblue for 3 nights and we loved it. Very nice and clean accommodation, beautiful beach, perfect seaview, nice staff and excellent food. They also have some nice beach bikes and canoes that you can rent and they can arrange some nice activities. Wish we stayed here longer.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was amazing. The hosts were incredibly nice and helpful to us. Tom and Chris helped us with everything we needed. The place is very nice, best retreat for holidays. I would definitely come back.
Cons: It might be a little bit far from everything, but I guess that is common in Zanzibar.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The whole concept was great, safari in comfort right on the beach. Left alone but plenty of help when required. All fantastic. Staff wonderful and friendly
Cons: Either side of the property the beaches suffer a little from litter washed up by the tide. This is more of a disappointing observation than a black mark against Zanziblue. The beech in front of the property and in front of the neighbouring properties is cleaned daily.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect
9.3 Excellent
Pros: It was absolutely fantastic! A very dedicated and passionate team welcomed us for our honey moon, making to pay every attention to detail and to even prepare a special dinner for us with sea view! The villas are just perfect, we congratulate ourselves to have chosen the hotel!
Cons: To be a bit picky, there was no shampoo in the villa and I think it is a minor improvement they could implement !
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The peace and quiet. its on the quite part of town and not much happens here. Staff are great they go above and beyond to accommodate for u.
Cons: Its pretty far from the main area of the town. No shops around and no restaurant on site however the menu and the food served in the rooms is great.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice and helpfull staff Good food Nice place Great pool
Cons: Pillow was not fine and bed a bit to hard A bit quite
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Best hotel ever! Amazing staff, very caring and beautiful location. We will definitely come back again. Thank you to all the staff and a special thanks to Kandy and Tom
Cons: Nothing
6.8 Good
Pros: The attentiveness of the staff. Very responsive and with very good attitude. Kandy and Aisha and team did a wonderful job! All personnel is well trained Managers helpful in coordinating activities and transport. Cleanliness of the Villa. Cars used for transport were in pretty good shape and driver takes good care of you Good value in foods and beverages. Very nice beach location
Cons: I was unpleasantly surprised that there was no way of being in the beach. I though I could relax in front of the ocean with proper shade and I had to stay in the pool area (with very limited ocean view). This is a major drawback considering how nice the beach is and how other properties nearby have chars/beds on the beach with proper shade. Very frustrating! The property is also starting to be worn out and needs to be updated. The chairs/beds in the pool and terrace areas are not in very good shape. It gets extremely windy in the afternoon and there is no place to hide. The living room which would be a natural option is not adequately furnished (it has 1 worn out of chair/sofa for three people) and you have to use the chairs from the dining (outside dining as there is no inside dining) that are not comfortable either. The attic room is open which makes it subject to the weather. Wind makes it impossible to be in there during the afternoon. Need more variety in the menu especially as it relates to fish. For the four nights we spent there the “catch of the day” was the same (tuna)

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Simply wonderful it is worth every Euro spent
Cons: I could not say anything in particular
7.0 Good
Pros: The rooms were great, the staff was very nice and eager to help, the food was very good
Cons: The location isn't very good, basically there is not much to do outside of the hotel. Would be nice to have a more wider choice of activities. Don't recommend this location for more than three nights
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and attentive staff, delicious food, amazing beach
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Facilities are great, everything is very well maintained Food was amazing (we had half board) Staff is super friendly and welcoming Lot of perks (e.g. free library, sport equipment ecc.) Very relaxing and pampering Offer of several activities to do around the area
Cons: Sometimes the internet connection was not working super well
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Zanzibar Queen was a really magical spot for three nights. It had a certain eclectic chic to it and the flowers/landscaping were absolutely beautiful! The hotel really creates a sort of Club Med type vibe by offering free yoga classes, free meditation classes, activities in the evening such as a Maasai show and acrobatics etc. The hotel also has a great and known dive centre in it (Scuba Fish) but we went diving with Dive Point who arranged pick ups for us every day. We had a half board and so this included breakfast and dinner (highly recommend going for this). We had lunch at some of the beach restaurants along the way.
Cons: My only feedback is on their dinner options, I really wish they offered more simple dishes - for example the best evening was when they offered grilled sea food which was divine!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff of the hotel from reception to restaurant and housekeeping was extremely friendly and helpful, a wonderful level of service. On top, the hotel is located close to Mnembe island (best snorkelling spot of Zanzibar) and benefit from a beautiful scenery. Would recommend to anyone looking for a stay in Zanzibar.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent service, extremely friendly staff, tons of optional activities, great food - recommendable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The whole stay was perfect and above expectations. I would like to stress in particular how much all the staff cares about delivering the best service possible to the guests. This really enhances the quality of the stay, beyond the perfect beach, swimming pool and food. We (2 friends) were there for 1 whole week and managed to have the most relaxing holiday, just like we wanted, while keeping active with free yoga classes on the premises, meditation, volley gear, pétanque, badminton, massages. We could also organise day trips directly with the hotel which was quite convenient (100% recommend the spice farm!). Deep tissue massage really kicked off our holiday and was more than welcome to re-energize after the flights. The food was amazing every night and the portion are (too) big! Special thanks to Marta, Justin, Sangeti and Stephano - you were the cherry on the cake for this magical week off, with your energy, your amazing personalities and personal stories, and your dedication to helping guests enjoy their stay. I sincerely will not hesitate to come back if life takes me to Zanzibar again. Asante sana and I wish you the best!
Cons: The only thing I would not recommend is the manicure, for the nail polishing part (it’s hard to maintain satisfactory nail polish in this climate to begin with) but the hand massage that goes with it was good, perhaps just a hand treatment would be preferable.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Restaurant and food are excellent. Majority of Staff (especially Abdoul in restaurant and Given at reception ) are nice. The hotel arrange every day some free activities.
Cons: 1- The ocean view is kind of hidden by trees. So the ocean view is not great and not as you expect. 2- Billing: we just needed to say our room number without showing our key or sign any recipt for any expenses like drinks while we were there. It sounds comfortable but the last day when you recieve the bill it's higher than what you expected and doesn't have the details of what have you consumed. Just a cost per day but who knows what they have charged you!!!! We are sure of mistake as we kept note of every expense we had so we are sure of the mistake. Maybe somebody had said a wrong room number or the waiter heard it wrongly or ... . still waiting for hotel to clarify that although we have paid extra. Still no response from hotel which is very DISAPPOINTING. So be careful!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very kind staff. They are always ready to help and make your stay a big pleasure. The hotel is in typical African style and you can feel the atmosphere of Africa transferred in a modern way. Clean rooms with large bed. Magnificent view from the room to the garden full of tropical plants and the ocean in background. World class cuisine with a lot of choices from sea food, meet and vegetarian. Huge clean beach and coral reef in front of the hotel.
Cons: Nothing to say here.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Its a small paradise to hang out and relax. The staff and the owners are very friendly. The internet was excellent for Zanzibar and the food was the best we had on Zanzibar. We recommend everyone to go for the dinner menu!
Cons: It would have been nice to see the ocean.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful owners - Giorgia and Daniele - wonderful food, wonderful place and accomodation!!!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Really nice stay at this quiet little hotel. The friendly owners, Georgia and Daniel, are warm and welcoming. The property is stylish and comfortable with plenty of lounge chairs and shade umbrellas for everyone. We enjoyed the generous and fresh breakfasts, as well  as a couple of nice dinners at the hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful. Very interesting to be in a local working village. The beach is just steps away and very beautiful. If you're looking for a place to relax, this hotel is a great place to do it. We recommend Kiganja Retreat!
4.5 Okay
Pros: The owner was very friendly.
Cons: Almost everything went wrong. The taxidriver, who would collect us at the airport, and who was sent by the lodge, was half an hour too late. The dinner was good, but it went very slowly and it took a very long time between the courses. We sat there for almost 2 hours. For dessert, my wife received a normal piece of cake, but mine was very small, less than half of my wifes piece. The airconditioning of the room did not work at all. The owner repaired it, but this was only finished around 10 pm. We were very tired and wanted to go asleep early, also because we had ordered a snorkeling tour for the next morning, and we had to be up early. After 15 minutes in bed, I felt something on my skin: it was a big beetle, almost 3 cm. When I turned on the light, I saw 3 more beetles above the bed. You can imagine, I did not sleep well. The beach was very disappointing: no tourists at all at the beach and it was not so clean, seaweed and some plastic waste. I think the tourists prefer to stay at the lodges, also because of the local businesspeople who harass them.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were very satisfied with this lovely hotel. Everything was as we expected. The food was very nice. Dinner out of 3 courses and always tasty. Staff is very friendly and the owners from Italy as well. We can highly recommend this small hotel when you are staying in Matemwe.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff at Kiganja made us feel very welcome and catered for our every need. This included an early check in, organising of a fantastic day trip to Mnemba Island for snorkelling and a fairly priced taxi to our subsequent destination. Our room was very comfortable and clean. Breakfast is very good, options for lunch are varied and cooked well whilst a 3 course dinner option is made available for $15 per person. The location is ideal for those wanting a quiet retreat close to the beach.
Cons: For non-smokers it’s unpleasant to be in the company of smokers in the restaurant area whilst eating.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: They catered for a gluten-free and lactose free diet upon request. Personnel and owners treated us fantastically. They let us use bikes and kayaks free of charge. We had a great stay.
Cons: Can't fault anything.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The owners were amazing- friendly, welcoming and helpful. Good breakfast, nice quiet beach just 2 minutes walk away. Cute small hotel area with very hot pool. Rooms and hotel area overall is very clean. Best shower we had in Zanzibar (warm water + decent water pressure) :)
Cons: Location is not the best- there are no restaurants nearby where you can eat when you desire. In nearby restaurants it is only possible to eat breakfast on fixed times, then lunch on fixed times and again dinner on fixed times. For example, if you would like to have something to eat between 2.30 pm and 7.30 pm, it is not possible. But of course its is not Kiganja´s fault :)
9.3 Excellent
Pros: the hotel
Cons: the poor peole next door
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were really clean and nice, with a beautiful balcony overlooking the pool. Very idyllic. Georgia and her husband were very friendly and helpful with requests such as transportation. Very cosy, chill vibe.

Pros: The owners are amazing. They arranged snorkling, taxi and everything we needed. Place is private (no beach boys) and quiet. We went all around zanzibar and if we would come again we would come here. Its posible to pay in any currency or you can just transfer them the money.
Cons: The toilet wasnt working, but they offered us a new room because of that.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was just perfect?
Cons: nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Big house, we could even use the kitchen (big bonus with a small child). Very safe and quiet. The owners have another Hotel, where we experienced a great live music evening and dinner. They have mosquito nets. The pool is big enough to swim, have even a shallow area for kids. Beach is in walking distance, also some restaurants. We are coming back.
Cons: Everything was good, only the staff cooked (fried) once little fishes - the smell was not really nice in the house afterwards. It only happens once. So I guess it is just fine.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was our second time in Villa Tunda and it was even better than the first time! Magdalena and Milo are super cool and are helping with everything. Go for a seafood barbecue. It is just delicious.

A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free valet parking is available onsite.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Hotel and pool are really cool.
Cons: The beach next to it is not that good, you need to drive to go somewhere else. Not a big restaurant menu and there are no other options to eat around.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location, clean, friendly staff, good facilities, lovely food!
Cons: - Constant pestering for signatures on bar receipts etc. Became really annoying. I want a drink and then relax. I don’t want to get out a pool or wake up to sign the 100th bit of paper during the week. - Paying final bill was chaos due to so many receipts during the week. - No pre warning of 5% card fee on paying very large bill. Absolute rip off of a fee. No option to do a bank transfer. - Fishing trip excursion was $25 per head for 10 people. No one touched a fishing rod. The snorkelling guide running the trip didn’t have a clue how to fish. Refused refund full or partial.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We married at the villa Kiva and it was more than perfect. The whole crew is so nice. We will never forget our stay.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The scenery of the hotel was very good. Staff was really nice
Cons: I didn’t like the fact that there was no internet for one week. The hotel transfers and excursions were overpriced. The dinner food options were really poor as I already paid inclusive of this. I didn’t enjoy most of the meals taste wise and portion wise. The beach was not nice due to low tides and high tides situation. Prior visit I didn’t receive any email of general information about the island from the hotel which would be a bonus it it was there.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is a lovely little getaway spot from other main areas teeming with tourists. Villa kiva feels like you are a world away from everyone else and is wasn’t over crowded which we loved! It has the special boutique feeling (from the aroma, rooms, little library and traditional board games) with all the amenities you need while feeling like you have the place all to yourself. The room was lovely and the food was really good!! The staff are so lovely and inviting and they add so much to the experience. I would choose villa kiva over a big resort any day. A gorgeous place to have spent my holiday.
Cons: The only thing that I did not enjoy (which is entirely out of the hotel’s hands) was the beach boys ready and waiting to catch anyone who steps foot on the beach beyond the hotel to sell tours or products. If you are wanting to give them business, be sure to stop and have a chat I’m sure they will be able to help you, but it can be frustrating when you are simply wanting to walk along the beach.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything super Clean, nicely designed, very good breakfast! - the best i ever had in Zanzibar. Lovely Details such as fresh flowers in room everything day, nice handcrafted soap, painkillers in the room. Standard is above the price category
Cons: Everything was very good. Well the beach was not the best but i found it ok
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect specially the friendly staff , the beach , the pool the location
Cons: Nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Staff were phenomenal
Cons: Room was quite small (twin room n.24) and quite dark.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything. Great service, clean smashing location. We weren’t leaving until 4pm to the airport and as no one was checking into our room they let us stay until 4!! Get sea view room , worth the extra. Tip: ask for one of the sea view rooms further from the reception as they’ve the best view.
Cons: Nothing!!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Just about everything. Can't beat the location.
Cons: Noisy and not efficient AC unit in one of the two rooms. Guests that do not at least try the "outside' world.

Pros: I love everything about ZRH. It is located right on the beach with sand so gloriously soft you should forget about your shoes all together. Everything we tried on the menu was delicious: club sandwich, ceviche, Zanzibari soup, grilled tuna with rice and french fries with home-made mayo! Breakfast was amazing with crêpe (pancake) my Breton friend can certainly vouch for. The room was spacious and beautiful with Zanzibari furniture. I felt very relaxed, safe and comfortable here. Big thanks to Jan ans Salomé for being such gracious and hospitable hosts.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing food! Some of the best we have ever had!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location is superb set on a long white, soft sandy beach The hotel offers many services such as free bikes which is a big plus, coral shoes, sun hat, sarong ect, all for free. Breakfast comes with different choices and it is very tasty as well. We found the place to be very quite and relaxing.
Cons: Maybe the restaurant could lower the price just a little bit. However what we ate at the restaurant was very good.

Cons: Though nice location, road connecting to property is too bad

Pros: Everything- it is like a fairytale
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything in this place was amazing. The people were beyond amazing. The place is gorgeous with nice balconies, we couldn't have asked for more.
Cons: The road to the place is really rough. It takes about 20-30 minutes of terrible road to get to the place/paradise.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location. Private pool.
Cons: Access road is very rough.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Private, spacious, clean, comfortable, amazing views, amazing hosts
Cons: The road to get there is very rough
9.5 Excellent
Pros: It was a truly unique experience - the villa is lovely and the people there too. We had beautiful dinners with our cook Ahmed, Ali the house manager always looked after us and Upendo kept the house tidy and beautiful. You have your own little paradise and people who enjoy their me time - that’s perfect as you will be on your own. Having your own pool and access to the beach where you can stroll around is truly meditativ Can only recommend you will not regret it!
Cons: If you want to go swimming in the sea, the location is not ideal because there are sea urchins a little further out and the water is covered with seaweed. But when the sea has gone back you can go for a walk which was very nice and you could also watch the crabs between the rocks. Don't forget your shoes because you "climb" over stones. You're really isolated there. You can book a taxi to take you somewhere on the island, but if you want to buy for example food spontaneously it is actually not possible. Therefore I recommend if you go to Stone Town or somewhere else stock up with some things if you feel the need to. But the food in the villa ist really good so you don't have to. Maybe just for some sweets?!
7.0 Good
Pros: The villa is nice and has amazing views of the pristine sea
Cons: Location is inaccessible, very difficult 30 min drive from paved road. In-house food options are limited.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: the atmosphere was great. the service impecable. food delicious. no insects such as mosquitos or others.
Cons: many plastic bags + plastic products in the water, not in front of the hotel, but very close. the coral reef is almost completely destroyed.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Big room with a nice view.
Cons: There was not hot water when we tried to have a shower.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was perfect. It is not another all incluse resort with dozens of rooms. Here the staff kmows your name. Everyone was very kind and professional. Everything is quiet. The beach is amazing (and yes, you have the low tide effect on this side of the Island). The hotel can arrange all type of excursions. The food is great! In a word, Zanzibar House is just perfect. It is not a fancy and artificial hotel; it is a hotel that cares about you.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice owners, really friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast, nice balconies with the room, the overall relaxed atmosphere in a beautiful building in a beautiful landscape.
Cons: The airconditioning in other rooms cause annoying humming sounds in the rest of the building. After complaining about this, measures were taken.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Tranquility and totally delicious food, Italian family hospitality, serene beach, balmy Indian ocean; i booked Zanzibar House as a treat for myself and my 2 teenagers to end our 16 day East African overland trip . It was without doubt the high point of our African adventure.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I spent about 10 days in Zanzibar, most of them in the north at Zanzibar House, and I am glad I did. It’s a wonderful place to rest and enjoy the magnificent beach. It is also close to Mnemba island, a good place for snorkeling and diving. The food was amazing. The staff was very caring.
Cons: The only problem was that shower water sometimes had little flux and sometimes had no hot water.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean and staffs
Cons: NA
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The building and its location was exquisite, we had the whole beach to our yourselves most of the time, the 4 course dinner menu was carefully thought through and executed and the staff team were courteous and efficient. We can't wait to go back!
Cons: There was an issue with the shower on one occasion but this this was quickly resolved.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The food, especially the 4 course Italien dinner, was extraordinary good. Don’t miss it!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location, lovely family run place with great Italian food Really helpful staff and amazing beach - really recommend this place to chill out in for a few days
Cons: The friendly room is comfortably but the difference with the ocean view rooms is quite big, and this isn't reflected in the price difference between the rooms. For an extra $15 a night the ocean view rooms are so much nicer!

Pros: I would like to say a very big thank you to all the staff and especially to Anna: I was really ill during my stay and you all made it so comfortable for me and made me feel safe! Thank you very much, I hope I will be back one day!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property inside and out, hot shower 24/7, exclusive-feeling wide white sand beach. Ideal retreat for relaxation for couples.
Cons: Too isolated with no real road to the property and not much around. It’s best if you stay here planning to do nothing but relax. It’s a grueling 1:30 private car/taxi ride between $30 to $60 one way to Stone Town / the airport, or :45 min $25 to $45 one way to Nugwi. And it’s time consuming because you’ll have to reach out to multiple taxi companies for one to come get you within a reasonable amount of time. The Retreat can get you a ride within 30 mins at the maximum rate.

Cons: Very nice hotel along the oceanside. Very relaxing stay. Service super friendly. We had an excursion to Mwemba (island of Bill Gates) to swim with the dolphins and to snorkle. Highly recommended, ask prices on the beach (we paid 14 dollar a person). Restaurant was ok, but rather expensive for europeans. The beach bungalow is rented for 4 people but is to small. We certainly would like to come back.

Pros: Loved the view and the hotel is beautiful. Clean, comfortable and aesthetically pleasing for sure. Hotel offers extra entertainment and in general is a really wonderful experience.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff. Location. Facilities. Looks better in reality than in the photos.

Pros: We spent 4 nights in Zanzibar magic as the beginning of our honeymoon. It was simply above our expectations!! They were flexible, polite, nice ,the food was amazing, especially the breakfast. We could use the kayaks and the bikes for free. It was easy to organize spice tour and all the transfers. We highly recommend it to everyone who wants to have a pleasant, ambient holiday. Hopefully we'll be back sometime..

Pros: The staff from the bar and restaurant is absolutely amazing!!! They are helpful, kind and smiley. The cleaners and the gardeners too are really kind. The food is really good, overall all the vegetables are delicious !!!
Cons: We was expecting more fruits... maybe was a wrong season
9.3 Excellent
Pros: It's a lovely secluded place which is perfect for couples. It's on the beach and our room had a stunning view of the ocean. The restaurant is a few metres from the water. Breakfast was good with lots of fruit as well. Swimming pool and loungers are great for those lazy days. There is a long strip of white sand beach with natural beauty for those romantic walks. We also got to hire a scooter which made it fun.
Cons: The restaurant is a bit expensive.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It's magical! I love this hotel and I heartily recommend it. It is located on a beautiful beach with an amazing view from morning to evening. The buildings are surrounded by a garden, but there is a lot of space around which favors relaxation and tranquility. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were spacious and clean. I loved the bar, the meals in the restaurant were amazing, and the breakfast had many options to choose from. The design of this place is great! The interiors are beautiful, adapted to the character of the place. The family atmosphere and comfort here are wonderful! The building is charming and well protected. I felt very safe and comfortable during my stay. Location, friendliness, professionalism, space, cleanliness - I fully recommend singles, young people and families. This may be the best place for a vacation.

Overview Reviews
Seles Bungalows are located in Matemwe. The open-air restaurant has views of the ocean and serves local Swahili cuisine and fresh sea food. Free WiFi access is available. The simple decorated and thatched bungalows come with hot and cold water and a fan. Mosquito nets are draped around the beds. An array of activities can be enjoyed on site or in the surroundings, including snorkelling, kite surfing and fishing. Cocktails and drinks can be enjoyed at the bar. Trips to Mnemba Island can be arranged. Zanzibar Airport is a 50-minute drive away.
7.5 Good
Pros: Excellent staff and very nice breakfast in a calm environment. On the beach front however not noisy. good restaurants nearby.
Cons: The air conditioning unit in our room struggled to keep the room cool in the evening.
5.0 Okay
Pros: They kept the place clean. The staff and owner make a great effort in making you feel welcome and help you with any queries.
Cons: The beach is spectacular, however you cannot see the beach due to trees and bushes inbetween the hotel and beach. The landscaping has been done as if you are 3 blocks back from the beach. There is no view from your balcony except palm tree leaves which start 1m from the balcony. The decor in the rooms is very mix match. Bed mattresses are uncomfortable. The length of the beds are small for anyone over 180cm in height as it is a sleigh bed. The AC did not work in one of the rooms, another room had a very musty smell.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Jeannette is the best hostess.
7.0 Good
Pros: Lovely setting and beautiful beach
Cons: Some of the staff perhaps not as warm as they could be. We were disappointed with the 5% credit card charge
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice cosy vibe. Friendly staff. Good food. Relaxing.
Cons: Old carpeted floor in the room, useless A/C and very loud fan.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Nice garden, nice common, facilities, good food. Great quite beach.
Cons: We were two couples in two rooms, one was OK but the other one would really need some renovation. Food was good but especially lunch took really long time before served.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The restaurant and bar were fabulous. The chef is excellent and we thought the food was fantastic. Janet, the host, went above and beyond to help us and the other staff were great too. The location was great for a trip to Mnemba Island and amazing snorkelling.
Cons: Our room was only just big enough with the bed pushed right up to one wall and the bathroom wasn't anything special. Having said that, value for money was satisfactory and when we had an issue with a shower head, it was changed immediately, which was great service.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about the place; the staff, the food, the atmosphere was absolutely super. A really welcoming place with a big personality that you fall in love with. Thanks for having us!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff. The food. The atmosphere. The room. The location.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: very large room and windows, great balcony with sea view, flowers on the bed each morning, helpful staff, espacially the manager.
Cons: the old dust in the storage closet, and the breakfast very limited and without real coffee.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice small resort located on Matemwe beach. We were there end of June and were the only people there for most of the 3 nights we spent. Matemwe really is a very quiet area so if you're looking for a party you've come to the wrong place. Because it was so quiet we were upgraded to a nicer room which was a plus. Room was serviced twice a day, in the morning it would be cleaned and beds made, towels folded into nice shapes and flower leaves sprinkled onto the bed. In the evening there was a turn-down service which was quite nice though not necessary. Breakfast was ok; fresh fruit juice, a choice of eggs whichever way you like them or pancakes. Unfortunately only instant coffee while they have 2 normal coffee machines: a big espresso machine which apparently was broken (seems it might have been broken for a while already..) and a normal filter machine which wasn't being used either. We went for great coffee at Zanzibar House, 30 minutes by foot along the beach. We had lunch at the restaurant once and weren't impressed so decided to go to one of the many other restaurants/lodges just a short walk along the beach for our meals. All in all we spent most of our time outside of the resort going on tours and visiting Stone Town. Payment by creditcard on site was possible but took forever.
Cons: Instant coffee.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We spend second part of our vacation at Zawadi and we were still surprised with the friendliness of the staff and accommodations. The breakfast is excellent, don't be shy to ask anything you have in mind, if they have it, you will get it. The location is excellent, right on the beach and the beach boys don't bother you too much if you inform them that you already have trips booked. The pool is great when there is low tide, but that is the best time to visit the reef. Bring water shoes cause there are sea urchins. 500 meters on the right of the location there is a more accessible path and you get too see lots of starfish. The rooms are very clean and they decorate the bed each day in a different way. Go visit Mnemba island!
Cons: Though the options for lunch are dinner are plenty, a 'catch of the day' option would be a welcomed addition to the menu.
7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast was good. unfortunately we were not served with croissants. i really would have appreciated a full English breakfast. The beds were comfortable. Liked the furniture!
Cons: Didn't quite like the compound setting right behind the beautiful villas. made us feel a bit uncomfortable. a constant reminder of the poverty of the locals. A little corporate social responsibility from the proprietors of the lodges could go a long way in uplifting the standards of the locals...especially on the road network behind!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were great and very helpful, clean rooms, almost private pool and beach because there are only 6 rooms in the property
Cons: We told them that we’re celebrating a birthday before our arrival and they surprised us with a cake when we arrived and on the end of our stay they charged us about it although they didn’t mention before that it’s not free. There was a problem with flashing the water in the room’s toilet.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I loved my stay at Zawadi. Great staff. Great place. Great value for money. I would love to come back. And the place was not to big or crowded. 10/10
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice big room - nice pool
Cons: Food was a bit expensivec- but lots of other good value beach restaurant s - breakfast was very good
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great staff and pleasant pool in the shade of coconut palm-trees. We stayed in a second floor room with an ocean-view balcony, and it was simply great. The owner arranged no-hassle trips to the Mnemba island and to the Stone town at reasonable pirce.
Cons: The restaurant menu is quite limited, but you can always have lunch or dinner in another hotel 5 minutes down the beach if you want some diversity.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Had the nicest room there is....Good and well maintained pool. Helpful management and staff.
Cons: Difficult to swim due to shallow waters and rough bottom.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are nice and big. I loved that its a small hotel with few guest so you get all the attention you need. Right on the beach. Beautiful beautiful beach. Lovely staff. Suki and fumu were extremely helpful. Nice big pool with sunbeds. Very good value for money especially considering it was high season. Loved the deck at the restaurant on the beach. Hope to be back some day!!
Cons: Nothing really...

Pros: Ocean paradise is the heaven on Earth! If you want to feel African nature and soul, do you want to start and practice surfing? - You have to visit Ocean Paradise Resort & Spa. <3 <3 <3 I know, I will be back! <3 <3 <3
Cons: I liked everything, but there are just e few problems and it is very easy to resolve them. 1. The hotel should have sleepers and white coats for hotel guests. 2. Bathroom facilities could be better - (shower)... But do not take it in your mind! The hotel is true Eden!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything was amazing. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Cons: There are too many beach boys, always offering things...we couldn't walk free on beach. The wifi connection could be better.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Very Nice territory. Very Nice bungalows. Good smimming pool.
Cons: - FOOD. I was poisoned. Mold on the bread. Poor breakfast. Very bad qulaity of cooking. Cheff is absolutely unprofessional. - VERY bad management team from India. Unprofessional. Not client oriented. Only protects each other. - VERY unprofessional general manager from Germany. Didnt do anything during my poisoning and during mistakes in refund procedure. Only protects himself and his unprofessional staff. Talked a lot - did nothing. - bad beach. Mostly at low tide - 1 km no water. Impossible to swim. Very dirty We left this hotel after 3 days
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed our stay in this lovely resort. We had half board and the breakfast and dinner buffet were super. We just missed avocados. :-) also for vegetarians very suitable. The pool is awesome and the staff mainly friendly and helpful. Clean and nice room.
Cons: The gym was quite disappointing. Just a few machines and some in poor condition. No water dispenser. For excursions we booked only a snorkeling tour via the hotel operator. Everything else via beach boys (happy tours) which was usually half price. (Taxi to Nungwi 30$, spice farm 30$) Moreover we found the billing of the drinks kind of chaotic. You always have to sign the checks and in the end it is very hard to have an overview of all expenses.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The property and all the premises are awesome, we loved it. This entire complex is ultra clean. We enjoyed the food a lot. Walking to the corals right from the beach gates of the hotel during the low tide is an interesting experience.
Cons: The only thing we didn’t like is the clarity of the water in the beach. The water is absolutely clean. However the sand in the beach is so fine like a powder, which is lovely of course, but with tides the water picks up a lot of sand and is not clear.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic rooms , friendly staff, excellent food with large variety every night
Cons: There was a lot of sea weed on the beach , some music at pool bar would be nice during the day.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: High tea was lovely Themed evenings great fun
Cons: Breakfast could improve and safety of your stuff at the beach
8.0 Excellent
Pros: My husband sprained his back and we had to extend our stay. The manager in charge was super cooperative and even upgraded us to make us more comfortable. Lovely people.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Resort Hotel was very well managed. The food was delicious. Very pleasant, friendly and helpful staff. The room and bathroom were clean and well designed. The gardens, pool area and beach was well kept. Everything was extremely well organized.

A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the amazing views from the swimming pool. The atmosphere and the eco-concept of the hotel was great. The staff was very nice and helpful.
Cons: They did not have many choices in the restaurant
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great service, lovely room, great views, good amenities
Cons: Staff walking through outside part of our room made it feel not very private. Can’t walk onto beach without people trying to sell you things (though not the hotel’s fault)
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Located on a beautiful beach with lovely swimming pools and friendly staff, and also good value for money compared to other places in Matemwe. The food they offer in the restaurant is excellent. Turn down service is a nice extra!
Cons: Our room (double room with garden view) was a bit small and didn't seem to be as nice as all the other bungalows, so I would advice a different kind of room. When we stayed there, there were also lot's of people putting their towels on the few available beds while they were away for hours, which I didn't like. Also the excursions and taxi service they offer are overpriced, you can find those cheaper elsewhere.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location, the room, the view from the room
Cons: Little mouse in the room; they clean the pool around 7-8 PM and you can’t use it until the morning.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel, rooms and facilities were all nicely designed in an earthy luxurious style. The food was very good and the service in the restaurant was excellent. The swimming pools were small but lovely and the lounge chairs overlooking the sea very comfortable.
Cons: Service on the front desk could be improved, the staff were basically helpful but not particularly friendly. Upon checking out the team suspected that I had stolen a beach towel but later found it in the room. Being questioned about that was really quite embarrassing and delayed my waiting taxi. It could have been handled much better and was a bitter note on which to end my stay. As with other beaches in this area, you won't be able to swim in the sea or see the sunset. The area is quiet and so this hotel is a nice place to get away for a couple of days. If you are visiting Zanzibar for either of the above I recommend you spend some time in Nungwi and Kendwa in the North. I would recommend arranging transfers and probably tours independently, their prices are very expensive.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The resort looks really nice, both pools are lovely with a nice view. There are mountain bikes at the reception you can use for a ride on the beach.
Cons: No air conditioning in the rooms, food is highly overpriced and of limited -and bad quality, F.e: a “cappuccino” is just filtered coffee with some foamed up milk and costs 4 dollars. We went for dinner and lunch to the neighbors: ‘Zanzibar Retreat’, the food is lovely there and fairly priced. Further the staff customer care is non existent. They seem uninterested in the guests needs and hang around the restaurant all day, although there is enough to improve, service wise and quality wise.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We felt so relaxed during our stay at the Sunshine hotel! The resort is very beautiful with gorgeous garden, two pools and nice restaurant. We received a warm welcome upon our arrival. Our room was very big and even though there is no A/C, we got very good sleep, because there is a big fan directly above the bed.
Cons: The restaurant is a lit bit pricey and the WiFi has very pool signal in the more remote areas of the resort, like or example in our room, that is the closest to the reception.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beach was very quiet & peaceful. If you are looking for a restful retreat this is the place to go to. The manager, Prisca, was incredible kind & valued our feedback. All the staff were hard-working & friendly.
Cons: Water heater in our bathroom was leaking slightly, nothing major just needed to be fixed. Wish they had more dinner choices, we were restricted to one option during dinner. Would like to see more options & a vegetarian-friendly menu.
6.8 Good
Pros: Good food, great pizza, beautiful beach, good location, lovely resident cats, cute resto
Cons: Room was just “ok”. Very much a boutique hotel. Difficult communication with front desk manager at times
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The beautiful indiain ocean and the friendliness of the people
Cons: Limited menu at meal times

Pros: The hotel was beautifully decorated, offered peace & tranquility. Definitely a very nice place to spend some alone time with your significant other away from the bustling noise of city.
Cons: The wall outlets and lack of wifi in the room
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The tranquility
Cons: Higher food pricing compared to other places
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location and crew
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Spacious bungalow and a very nice view over the ocean
Cons: In my personal opinion this place is overpriced. Food and drinks cost 3 times as much as in other restaurants in Zanzibar, but since you are stuck in this hotel you have no alternative. The staff is extremely friendly but in a way that we thought was awkward. I felt monitored all the time and don’t think it is necessary to be ask a thousand times if everything is fine. If you are a couple looking for complete isolation it’s the place to go, if you wanna be more flexible and experience Zanzibar then don’t.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great service. Management was awesome. Highly recommended!
Cons: Road to hotel was a bit difficult
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Large spacious room with veranda n private pool. Very helpful and respectful staff. Beautiful infinity pool and breakfast overlooking the ocean. Very comfy pillows and bedding. Manicured grounds.
Cons: The drains in our room had a smell but management tried sorted it out . Breakfast was great and tasty but the same every day. The beach is not really for swimming. But you can walk amongst sea urchins n rocks. The hotel has shoes for guests to walk in the water.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are nice and big, sea view and private pools was really nice. The garden was very nice and green.
Cons: The road there , you can loose hope and believe that you are lost. The road is so bad
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great food
4.5 Okay
Pros: This place is surely a great place for a young couple and not for a family. The view from our suite was breathtaking. One feels like they are staying in a big garden with amazing greenery around. It is not far from Kendwa and its lovely beach.
Cons: The hotel is old and it shows. It requires ALOT of maintenance vis a vis the suites. Our room needed serious cleaning to say the least. The food wasnt so great and surely not suitable for young kids. The location is very remote and we had to drive through the villages for about 20 minutes in a really rough terrain to reach. The hotel doesn't have direct access to the beach. We visited in June and it was way too windy to enjoy the pool. The hotel changes the food menu everyday and provides a set menu at a specific time which makes it very hard for a family with young kids. Mind you the food is on the pricey side and you can get better selection and quality at any other place around that area. Given its remote location we would have liked for the hotel to provide some sort of entertainment, but unfortunately nothing. Not even a little music in the public places. All in all, we dont think we will ever visit this place again.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The property is very beautiful. It is isolated and so very quiet.
Cons: The property is very isolated, which can be good or bad. What we were looking for was a serene, relaxed environment, and Kasha is that. However, it is also kind of an Island unto itself with little in the immediate area for diversion. Take that for what you will.

Pros: I had an amazing stay in sunshine marine lodge. The staff they have hired are one of the best I have come across in my life! Especially a waiter called Nicolas that became my good friend now. The chef khalid is also an amazing guy and has amazing creative food! The beach in very nice, highly recommend.
Cons: The drive to sunshine marine is a bit bumpy.
5.5 Okay
Pros: The location
Cons: Our stay was a disappointment. During the first night monkeys were coming in and out of our room, leaving us wordless. Instead of sleeping we had to lead the monkeys out again and again, hoping they won’t touch our children. The management tried to compensate us but on the fourth night we had one more time monkeys visit in our room. On top of it, the crew wasn’t attentive, what doubled our frustration, a total contrast to other places we stayed at. Breakfast was as minor as can be, we had the feeling as if everything was counted. Something in the atmosphere lacks in this lodge and it’s transferred to the guests. Yes, it’s a nice spot and the pool is situated nicely. But All the rest was way below the expected standards, not to mention having monkeys in the room.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: - fantastic location: TRANQUILL place - no crowd - nice restaurant - proper selection of wines
Cons: the last part of road is terrible - but You don't need to travel too often ;)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great Service, very nice location, beautiful rooms, very good food. A great place to be - but keep in mind that it is a remote place without a chance to take a walk to the next village with restaurants. Snorkling is great but if you want to snorkel from the beach you have to walk/swim a bit to the reef (depending on flood/tide)

Pros: Beautiful villa with large comfortable bed, balcony and amazing staff who even took our dirty clothes and brought them back washed and exquisitely folded. Hassein the waiter was wonderful and made our stay a pleasure. Breakfast was simple but filling and meals were good at the hotel. We ventured into the village and ate at Garden Bob's too, was wonderful experience...
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very close from the sea and nice facilities
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The nearby beachfront with nice view, and easy access to bike rental, Kayak rental at a nearby Hotel, and the beautiful sunrise. Rooms are spacious and clean and you really get a feeling like you landed in paradise, at a reasonable price. Also I arrived early and the staff did not keep me waiting, but was very flexible, so my stay was almost 30 hours for the price of one night, which was very generous, even if it was in low season.
Cons: The accomodation itself was fabulous. Regarding the location, the sea itself has urchins (in general) and marine life is moderate. For an exciting snorkling or diving experience the nearby islands can be visited at a reasonable price. Its also a quiet beach at this time of the year (end of April), nothing much happening in the area, so its perfect for people and couples who are looking for a serene spot in paradise.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and nice staff. The beach is very clean white sand.
Cons: Limited food choices. You cannot swim from the beach.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good
Cons: It all met our expectations.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good location for snorkeling or diving trips to Mnemba Island. The room was really big, with air-conditioning, a balcony and great shower. Laundry services are included, which is a plus after a safari! The staff was super nice and friendly.
Cons: Waiting time at the restaurant was a bit long even when the restaurant was empty. WiFi wasn't working for a few days, probably due to heavy rains - this was actually nice for us, but I understand it could be a problem for other travellers.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were great, extremely friendly and helpful. The location is perfect and the rooms were spacious and clean. The pool was lovely and kept well.
Cons: The restaurant should be much better, the menu was too small for all times of the day, and no alcohol was served. This should be stated on booking.com, because of this there is no atmosphere in the restaurant. I was a solo traveller and my first night in the restaurant was empty, the waiter even said nobody likes to eat there because there is no alcohol. The music was a strange choice and I ended up feeling very awkward. I didn’t eat dinner there again and found other hotels along the beach which was quite nerve wracking to walk back from in the dark alone. There’s no facilities in the rooms to make tea or coffee, or a phone to ring down to reception quick. The water cut out when I stayed and so did the power, the WiFi didn’t work for me at all and I ended up having to turn it off. SO much potential for this place as the staff were really lovely.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Rooms very comfortable with air con. Breakfast was big! Fruit platter plus full English breakfast everyday plus fresh fruit smoothies and tea and coffee - enough to fill you up until dinner. Staff very friendly!
Cons: Need to be careful in Zanzibar in general, as soon as you step into the street or on the beach you have people trying to sell you things of children in ragged clothes begging for money
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The accomodation was at a great location
Cons: The food were not good
