Overview
The Old Monterey Inn was built by Carmel Martin Sr, an instrumental person in creating the city of Monterey, in 1929. This award-winning hotel resides in the historic English Tudor mansion. It contains intricate woodwork, stained glass windows, and copper detailing. Guests can relax in the garden and enjoy seeing rose trees, old oaks, cedars and even some lavender.
Guests can choose from ten rooms in the mansion. The Garden cottage is a stand-alone cottage on the property which includes a secluded private patio through the English garden. There is a jacuzzi tub large enough for two in this cottage.
The Mayfield suite includes a king-sized down bed and two-person jacuzzi next to the fireplace. The Brightstone suite overlooks the gardens with a queen-sized bed. There is a two-person hydro-thermo massage tub beside the fireplace. In the Ashford Suite there is a private dressing room with a walk-in mahogany closet. The sitting area has a cozy fireplace and a king-sized bed.
The library room is the original library of the mansion; it has a private balcony and king-sized bed. The Stoneleigh has a private garden entrance, spa-like jacuzzi, and a king-sized bed. In the Chawton room, guests are treated to a fireplace, queen bed, and two-person jacuzzi. The Tattershall has a unique fireplace and is located on the second floor.
In the Rookery, guests have a fireplace, private bath, and queen bed. Finally, the Dovecote is a third-floor room with windows framed in Ivy and a cozy sitting area.
