Was not advised of significant additional charges required insurance before picking up car! The windshield wipers on the car were broken! To return the car was very difficult. Had to hunt down the Hertz office in Ulm Germany by asking other car rental companies where they are located. The online info was not correct. The other car rental places were open on Saturday but not Hertz!

Car was not what we reserved, but was ok.We were forced to take the additional insurance after I showed proof of having full coverage European insurance through USAA, and an American Express card that paid any deductibles. It was a rip off and a scam. I've rented cars all over Europe for many years, and have not been forced to take additional coverage. Rental was reserved over a month in advance, with no mention of this "policy". When we arrived in Munich at 10PM, on the weekend before Christmas, we were forced to accept it because there were no other cars available in the area.

We paid for an SUV, but arrived at the airport to find that Hertz, Dollar and Thrifty all share a desk. There was a very long line and not enough employees. There were also no cars available. They were having people write their names on a list and as cars came in, you were called to come get a car. You got whatever came in, which in our case was a compact. They didn't adjust our rate to compensate for the size difference. Additionally, our credit card and car insurance both have rental car coverage, however, they stated that unless you had one of four specific credit cards, you couldn't decline the coverage required for Germany. The coverage alone was higher than the rental rate. We had no choice to pay, but what should've been a $100 rental turned into a $250 rental. The required Germany insurance information should've been posted when making the reservation and they should've over-rent for the inventory they have.

Drop off was easy.Vehicle had a mechanical issue and no help was available. Overcharged and no one responds to requests for contact to address the issue. No receipt provided at rental OR at drop off to show the amount I was going to be charged was more than $1200 more than I agreed to pay.

I was expecting it to cost around 100$. Instead it cost me 200 because the forced me to get insurance- even though I’m already insured. Also they put a 500$ hold on my credit card and charged everything in euros. I still do not have my money back. I’m upset over this.

Car return was easy.Only at the counter was I told that I needed written proof of my credit card rental car coverage. I did not have it with me not did I know a way of getting to it. Why was I not told at time of purchase that such proof is required? This tactic felt like road robbery!

At the time of the booking the amount due was quoted $368. It was no mentioning at all about any specific insurance requirements. I always use my business Chase Ink credit card for the accidental insurance coverage. At the time of picking up my rental car, the agent did not accept this coverage and forced me to purchase the additional insurance. As a result, my amount due jumped to $814 which is 122% higher than original quote. The agent hasn't given me a choice: either purchase the insurance that I didn't need, or no car would be released to me, knowing that the customer cannot start shopping around at that point. This is a classical ripoff case which I am going to dispute with my credit card, and it will be reported to the Better Business Bureau, Consumer Protection Agency, and the Attorney General Office.

A nice and clean Nissan Micro with great navigation system. The insurance appeared to be as much as the car rental. When making the reservations, no insurance rates were indicated and as per the rental office clerk, no part of it could be waived. So finally I paid twice as much as was my quotation which was more than upsetting
