Pros: The staff is kind.
Cons: The organisation is terrible. Rooms near the road suffer for the noise of the traffic on early morning. The breakfast is poor and expensive if you compare to cheaper restaurant near the hotel. Terrible quality if you compare to the price payed.
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff. Super breakfast!
Cons: Rooms were fine but could use some hooks or shelves for clothes and personal items.
Pros: There is a kitchen that guests can use. The staff are pleasant, especially the young man who works in the evenings.
Cons: Most of the space in the room was taken up by two double beds. There was nothing else in there other than a table and chair. The only light in the room was a dim overhead bulb. The walls could do with a coat of paint! The thing that I disliked most though was the "suicide shower." This is the only source of hot water and there is only cold water to the washbasin.
Pros: Very authentically Guatemalan type structure with long shaded porch. Beautifully green garden. Nice places to sit outside and use of the kitchen. Rooms were adequately furnished. Enough covers as Nebaj is chilly at night. Very centrally located so we walked to restaurants, the market and plaza. The staff is very helpful.
Cons: Nebaj is a busy town with lots of noisy motor bikes (everyone has one!) The big buses and trucks use the outside street- so if you are sensitive to street noises during the day, this is not your place. Around 9pm it quiets way down so you can sleep peacefully - but roosters get up early and sometimes the street dogs bark. If you can tune this out - you'll be fine!
Hotel Gran Shalom II is located in Nebaj. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Great stay. Comfortable and clean. Very few guests when we were there so it was quiet. Staff are lovely. It is a bit of a walk into town but you can easily get a tuktuk. Restaurant food was tasty.
Cons: Just two very small things: the restaurant wasn't open for breakfast on our last morning. Also some of the sheets were too small for a double bed.
