Having to wait outside in the middle of the night for houses at the hotel to be cleared by the fire department.
I love that you check-in at the bar, and that you are offered a complimentary drink (which is delicious)! I also liked that the room had character. It was fun & spunky! Plus, the hotel is located one block from Canal Street, which is literally the beginning of the French Quarter!
Unfortunately, Hurricane Barry had done some damage to the lobby, so there was a mildew smell every time you walked in. Also, because they had to repaint and do some other work (because of Barry), they didn’t have any of the snacks and amenities promised on their page.
The location was good
It had a smell and the room and bathroom was very small. You could hear everything and for the price I paid it wasn’t worth it.
The bed was very comfortable, we came weeks after a flood so food was limited pretty much nothing, exercise room wasn't available my fiance didn't appreciate that, but we liked the location
Room was smaller then I expected
We were in town to see the Rolling Stones at the Superdome. The price was suspiciously low for that area but we took a chance. Turns out, the lobby of the hotel had been flooded two days earlier by Hurricane Barry. It was a mess and a little chaotic with construction/remediation but they still managed to make checking in smooth. The rest of the hotel was very nice. The staff was great and I commend them for handling a difficult situation with grace. For example, our door lock malfunctioned due to the flood so someone from the staff had to let us in every time. They hustled to help us with a smile. We're coming back to see what it's like when it hasn't been flooded. It was a great place to stay as it was. It's also within walking distance of the Saenger, Joy, Civic and Orpheum theaters.
They need to use some voodoo or whatever to keep the hurricanes away.
