The location was great: just off the 86th Street Line 1 station and with Central Park just next door.

The location is good (close to subway and with 24/7 services nearby), Central Park, etc... and staff members always nice and helpful, it was always clean and quiet, not a noisy backpackers place... Bathrooms were always clean and not busy, 24 hours reception, clean sheets...
It looks like a pension, and common areas are not necessary accommodating, there´s a kitchen which is OK and some "lounge" area in the basement but I wouldn´t say there were cool places to hang out at... Not too much of a hostel environment...at least not the ones I´m used to, with other travelers with whom to socialize. Understanding NYC it´s an expensive city, this was still not worth it (for the kind of experience I expect in a hostel), I'd rather check other options for the same budget...

The mattress size was really little, the bathroom seat was so old, it looked dirty. They really need appropriate door locks, because the other ones had tape on them

The bathrooms were not clean and my room was very
I had to sleep with clothes on because the room (210) was very cold. Also the bathroom was not clean. Someone else had left a pizza box in the garbage can and it remained there for two more days.

Overview
The Central Park West Hostel is a unique accommodation located just two blocks from Central Park, in the heart of Manhattan’s best attractions and activities. Times Square is just a short 10-minute subway ride, making it easy to get to Broadway shows and more. Guests can also visit the American Museum of Natural History, Rockefeller Center, Madison Square Garden, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and of course the Central Park Zoo, located inside Central Park just steps from the hostel.
The Central Park West Hostel offers free WiFi in all areas of the building, including the dorms. There are staff-organized events held regularly for guest interaction and enjoyment. There is also a shared kitchen and cafe area, along with an open lounge with a flat-screen TV for guest enjoyment. Luggage storage services are available and lockers are provided in all dorm rooms for guest security. Daily housekeeping service is provided at the hostel, which also offers a 24-hour front desk for all guest needs. Some of the guest rooms include private bathrooms while others share baths located throughout the building.
This hostel offers a newly constructed roof deck for relaxing and entertaining, and there are two bunk bed dorm options as well as a private king room option for guests, with 4 guest rooms in total to choose from. This hotel offers airport shuttle service and is a non-smoking property. Pets are not allowed at the hostel. A tour desk is available to assist guests with sightseeing tours, tickets, reservations, and recommendations.
