Location, restaurant.....and unfortunately that's all
Dilapidated room and bathroom, AC is so loud when turns on that wakes you up
Great location (not far from Penn Station / Empire State Building) new, clean bathroom
room was very small noisy AC
I visited for a conference. That means I spent a minimum amount of time at the hotel and didn't take advantage of any of the on-site facilities -- straight out every morning, straight to my room every night. That being said, the experience was highly positive. The room was bright, clean, comfortable and well appointed. I liked the hotel's decor. And of course, the location was ideal. The staff were friendly and helpful.
I should note that the room was a bit small, and as others have said it didn't have a chair. I was able to get my work done using the provided stool, but an office chair might have been better. I also found that parts of the hotel, especially the elevators, were too heavily perfumed for my taste. The room wasn't, which is good.
The best hotel I have stayed in in all my trips to NYC. They accommodated my requests. I slept like a baby---& that NEVER happens!
I would like to see a lower rate.
Location was convenient to midtown and subway.
Room was not clean; rotten food stored in the closet caused me to throw up. We notified the manager on duty (Juliane Vasquez) and she said there was nothing she could do than give us continental breakfast vouchers at the hotel restaurant. Continental breakfast is only toast and a hard boiled egg. We declined the vouchers and went to breakfast at another restaurant. Ironically, Juliane was at that restaurant and pretended she did not know us when we walked by her. I called hotels.com to straighten out the mess and they were surprised that Juliane/Martha Washington did not reach out to them to help us. Hotels.com called the Martha Washington and negotiated an adjustment to our bill. We checked out immediately and went to another hotel. We would not stay nor recommend staying there; Juliane and some of the staff need customer service training.
Great atmosphere when you walk in - the place thrums and buzzes. Superb beer selection at the bar.
I found little deskroom on which to place my computer and no chair, just a stool, to use.
Location was perfect for my needs this trip. Staff was greatr
Rooms were small. Fitness center was poor.
The staff was exceptionally good. All we encountered went above and beyond to take care of what we anted. The concierge and door people were particularly helpful, but all were skilled and customer focused. The room was small but well designed
Not really a dislike, but the name had changed from King and Grove to Martha Washington between the time we booked and arrived. A bit confusing. The closest thing we had to a complaint was the outside noise that penetrated the room. Our room was in the back on the outside, making it more vulnerable to ambient noise apparently.
The price and location were very good. Rooms were on the large side for Manhattan.
Hotel was still in the middle of a major renovation even though website said it was finished. A lot of noise and construction in and around the hotel. Maid service was below par. Had to ask for more soap, tissues, drinking cups, etc., instead of them being replaced when they were used up. Front desk staff were very nice but lacked the professionalism that you should see in a hotel like this.
It's a very clean, nice hotel. Well situated. Free Wi-Fi sort of made up for the lobby renovations but not really. Staff was very nice and helpful. I would stay there again but would call first to make sure the lobby reno is complete.
The entire 1st floor is under renovation...really kills the vibe. Had I known the lobby was under construction, I wouldn't have booked the room. The pictures of the lobby, lobby bar, etc. were a compelling reason I decided to stay here. Very disappointed. Also, the bathroom sinks are TINY and no spot to set your bathroom kit down...really more annoying than anything else. A small shelf or table next to the sink would be perfect.
