Overview

The Mansfield Hotel is a historic, high-end hotel situated in the heart of Manhattan, right between Fifth and Sixth Avenue. Sitting on 44th Street, this hotel is within minutes to Broadway theatres, fine dining, shopping, Times Square, and many other area attractions. There are 126 guest rooms available at this hotel, all featuring various city views and appointed with modern amenities. Hardwood floors and high-end linens are just the start of the luxury that this hotel is known for.

The Mansfield Hotel features charming, historic architectural details combined with modern decor for a stylish accommodation. This hotel was designed by James Renwick, known for The New York Public Library and Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, in 1890. Originally, it was meant to be a hostelry for high-end socialites and bachelors that came to New York’s Club Row. This pet-friendly hotel has since been transformed and now offers luxurious accommodations to guests throughout the 126 rooms and suites. There are 10 different types of rooms to choose from, including the Penthouse suite.

The Club Room, right off the main lobby, is available for entertaining and meetings. This room was originally designed as the hotel’s parlor and has been restored to its traditional Beaux Arts library design, offering a home-like setting right in the heart of New York City. Within walking distance, guests can visit Grand Central Station, Bryant Park, Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, and all of the best shopping on Fifth Avenue.

Guests say
Guests appreciated the great location of the hotel, being close to major attractions in NYC. However, many reviews highlighted issues with cleanliness, such as dirty sheets and rooms, and some guests experienced unhelpful service from the front desk. While the atmosphere and some amenities were praised, the overall experience was marred by these negative aspects.

Pros (+) The location mid-town was very convenient to my conference.
Cons (-) Bedbugs. They moved me to a much better room, but I was not confident that it was bedbug free. There was no way to make tea or coffee in my room. A huge drawback as far as I am concerned.

Pros (+) Charming, location is near shows and very central, interesting architectural details, great coffee from espresso machine in lobby and it's always available, nice to have two beds as I was traveling with my adult daughter, staff helpful and friendly
Cons (-) The room was cold and an engineer fixed our radiator, however, when temps hit the teens, you could feel cold air coming through the ac window unit. The shower tiles had some moldy grout.

Pros (+) Good hotel for sleeping, but too small to spend much time in. So, it's good if you plan to see the NYC sights. Has a nice reading room up front with free wifi. Have to pay for wifi in the room which is kind of odd. Room was clean and comfortable for sleeping. I wouldn't recommend the hotel for families with young children. Perfect hotel for touring NYC or watching a Broadway show.

Cons (-) Free wifi in lobby only; paid wifi in rooms. Would have liked free wifi in rooms.

Pros (+) I love the character and history of this show. I film like I am in a film noir movie with its library, the spiral staircase and the classic, old NY feel of the rooms. The only complaint I had was the staff. The first time I stayed, they greeted me with such a welcoming warmth and interest in me as an individual. It was lovely! This time, they had a rude woman working the front desk who was so cold...
Cons (-) The rude, robotic woman at the front desk. Please find someone who is friendly, interested. It's a boutique hotel. It is charming and the service should reflect that charm!

Cons (-) It was a rather horrible experience. The room was small and dirty and nothing like what was advertised. The furniture was broken and it was facing a wall. The room next to mine had several people in it who were partying late into the night and even though I called the reception they refused to do anything about it. So there was shouting and music until after 2am. Probably one of the worst hotel i ...

Pros (+) NOTHING
Cons (-) Double room was smaller than anything they've seen before. It was only one tiny bed [I even called them explaining they are sister and brother] and I believe it was a twin or maximum a queen- my brother was taller than the size of the bed-unacceptable. My closet is bigger than that bathroom and the building is remodeling so it looked terrible and they so bugs on the shower-real gross. I payed the ...
