Excellent from start to finish
Location, Well kept grounds, Comfortable. Good breakfast. No menus produced in restaurant for evening meal.
Great hotel, nice and quiet, bit out of town, hire very good quality bikes at hotel for cycling but beware of the few hills. Check out Beek in particular Hotel/Restaurant "Het Spijkertje" Little bit out of town but bus stops right outside the hotel (and runs to timetable unlike in UK!)
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Overall the hotel was good value for money. The room service menu was extremely limited and you had to get the menu from the front desk - was not in the room.
the breakfast is excellent, always good quality and plenty off. the pillow are awefull!
Very peaceful and relaxing. Good room; clen and quiet. Probably best suited to those with a car. Bus service is available quite nearby, but a few trips to ton can get expensive.
Setting noisiness from other rooms.
Helpfull and honest staff. Recovered mislaid documents which we had left in our room, and posted same to us in the UK
Nice and quiet, nice area
Hotel staff very friendly Food is. Dry good Old hotel. Feel like an hospital
The hotel is close to the station and the city center. Nothing.
Staff very friendly and the room comfortable.
Very good breakfast. Everything is new now
no tea-making facilities in room
Everything about the hotel was exellent. Very relaxing atmosphere, and extremely helpful and friendly staff.
location Breakfast was not included, and too expensive
Hot drink facility in room
The location is brilliant , next to the station . Hotel very clean , excellent staff & very good breakfast .
32 Euro for breakfast? Ridicilous price compared to spending 24 Euro on a three course meal at a local restaurant.
It's clean and not expensive.
The breakfast and the kindness of the people who worked in the Beans and Bagels café. The person in charge of the internet connection was kind enough to do some troubleshooting in the router configuration so I could use mi wireless with my laptop. That was very helpful and I appreciate it a lot. Only the pillows, which were too big and there weren't other to choose from. Also, the shower door dripped too much water when openned after a shower.
Convenience, location, price, courtesy of staff The rooms are in a separate building to the 'office'. This is at the restaurant a few doors along the street. In principle there is nothing wrong with this. However, as I had to leave early, I paid my bill the night before. I left the keys in my room and then found that I needed to use the outer door key to exit the building - something I had not been told. At this stage I was unable to exit the building and locked out of my room. I could not get to the keys. This may seem funny but at 6.55 in the morning with a train to catch it was not! I managed to get another guest to get up early and let me out. I was lucky. In case of a fire and panicking people or any other emergency, it would not be safe.
Very nice rooms, good location. Awsome breakfest included!
its location was very convienient as it is very close to the bus and train station , and it was clean expensive . very tiny small rooms. and poor lighting
The bathroom of the room had a plastic curtain instead of a door.
Location - in old Nijmegen shopping st. Toilet was in a very small cubicle & wash basin was tiny in shower area
centre of Nijmegen, nice, old house thin walls, you can hear a lot from your neightbours
Excellent location in downtown Nijmegen. The room we were given was in a adjacent building in a calm side street. The room was adequate and clean and even cozy. Heating was adjusted after we asked for it. A very nice and more than sufficient breakfast was served in the Bagels & Beans café that operates the b&b. All in all a very simple but not unsympathetic place. This accommodation cannot be recommended for people who have trouble with stairs. The b&b is difficult to reach by cab as the street is pedestrians only. The room can only be reached through a steep and winding stairs. We had to carry our luggage upstairs ourselves. The bathroom and toilet (shared) are on another floor.
This is an observation, rather than a complaint. Room very small, as also the bathroom. Floors are wooden, so guests can be heard coming up the stairs and in their rooms. Extremely noisy. Stairs steep and narrow, so not recommended for less mobile guests.
It's a nice place with friendly helpfull staff despite the rant below. really steep stairs (closer to a ladder than staris) which did not suit my mother who is 70 and not physically able to climb them. we were booked in for 3 nights. i offered to pay the first night as it was booked and try to find somwhere else. the manager charged the full amount and told it it was my problem as the web site says they have steep stairs (it doesn't by the way) didn't have enough money to find anoter place so pretty much had to carry mum up and down those stairs. Hope your proud of yourself Mr.Manager.
When booking, we requested a room in a specific part of the hotel and the result could not have been more accurate. The design of the corridor entrance door and those of the rooms means that they are difficult to close quietly. This results in the general noise level being quite high.
Arrived late at 23:30 and reception staff had everything prepared for our group to check-in. Went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable.
good for money
Good clean room, close to Nijmegen and the motorway A73. Everything was very clean.
Typical VanderValk: a well-oiled machine with all the facilities in place.
staff helped with breast feeding milk that needed to be stored and accesssed Room was next to a lift and stairs, hence slept badly. First day breakfast was insufficient (everything was gone and not replaced). No minibar for storing breast milk.
Nice clean rooms. Had to cross the road to get to the restaurant, which was expensive.
Room was excellent, breakfast very good
I liked the friendly staff, the food was excellent, the room was clean and comfortable, the cost was good value for money. All in all I cannot complain about anything and I will be booking again next Summer. Everything was perfect as far as I am concerned. I noticed that someone complained about having to cross the road to get to the rooms. I did not find this a probem at all. When I left your hotel, I went on to stay at the Sandton Pillows in Zwolle. Biggest rip off I have ever come across.
very quiet town
Food is always excellent if it arrives and the spa is a great way to unwind after a busy day. The building and grounds are very pleasant. The struggle to get food, even as room service, when arriving at 10pm. Being charged for items that were untouched. Very slow checkout. I'll try not to come back.
The room was just redecorated and it looks good. The breakfast is extensive and the food is good. The mattress was too hard and the pillow too soft.
Nature outside is wonderful, close to 52 degrees building, nice comfort rooms, good beer in the bar, however restaurant is a bit of expensive. But no choice, there's no restaurants around.
Politeness and friendliness of staff None
We were there for a concert at Goffertpark and the hotel was at an ideal location, just ten minutes walking distance from the concert grounds. Of course, the spa center and the mineral springs made our stay more pleasurable. By the way, as a comment on an earlier guest review, the carpets in our room were recently renewed.
the hotel has re-furbish and the room was excellent. the spa is very relaxing and really enjoyable. only a 5 min cab ride to the centre of the city. we really enjoyed our stay and will be going back.
quite sterile environment, with at this time of the year almost empty
Staff and facilities were especially welcoming
Nice hotel, spacious rooms, comfortable balcony. Wireless internet works well. Very nice spa, good breakfast buffet Beds are too hard and the pillows soft.
Friendly staff, spotless refurbished room, and Goffert Park festival area at walking distance:-) nope
We booked last minute, so we paid less for a very very nice suite. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. The food was excellent, very well presented and the price range suited all budgets. No free parking. Parking is only available at nearby public parking garages.
It's a small luxery hotel with only 6 suites. Allthough it was very busy because of the Vierdaagse, hotel staff was very friendly and helpfull.Nice detail: Apple with free internet in all the room available.
This hotel had a Wow factor. Recently opened with a very modern appealing style. Free internet and your own iMac in the room with a wide selection of music etc. Great bed, better than my own at home! And a great continental breakfast. I am already recommending this hotel to friends and family and will definitely stay here again.
It was an amzing stay - Hotel and restaurant were fantastic - very helpful staff and a really "cool" "happening" feel about the place......I would compare to Malmaison over here on wow factor. Owner Sander and his wife were very hospitable. No lift we were on top floor. A few drawers would have been good for undewear etc as we were there for 4 nights.
Funky boutique design. Sander provides a great, friendly welcome and his staff follow suit. The rooms are excellent and inspired.
Great design hotel without losing the warm welcome of a small hotel! The fact that every room had a computer with a very good musical selection is a must! Breakfast is amazaing with an always helpful staff!
Perfect service and attention to all our requests. Spatious room, nice design. Current design requires the bath in the room, you have to like this.
This hotel was fantastic the rooms are very inspiring and well thought out. The bath right next to the bed is a nice touch and the rain shower is a gentle wake up, prior to the lovely breakfast that we were served. All in all it was a very pleaseant stay with a little bit more than i expected when first booking.
Beautifully refurbished building, wonderful stylish & luxurious room, good attention to detail & friendly, attentive staff.
The location was convenient for us. Breakfast may improve.
Easy access and short walking distance to the city centre.
Location,Silent Beds totally uncomfortable Breakfast poor
The rating was incorrect and the general standard was awful. With noise at night and dorrs damaged where they have been kicked in!
I was upgraded to one of the few renovated rooms because of a faulty tv. This room was very nicely decorated, expect ally the bathroom, the wifi worked well and there was a good choice for breakfast The room I had initially been allocated was in need of renovation, dated decor mouldy bathroom etc. the problem with the new room was the temperature, as the upstairs neighbour turned on the heating the radiator pipes in my room were boiling hot. They were also making a lot of noise. And the duvet added further to the uncomfortable temperature, the material it was made of is more suitable for the arctic than for the. Netherlands
Location, clean room The hotel needs a renovation badly for this name, for this price, and for the 4**** stars. I have felt like in an old movie from the early 80s.
The room was big. It ıs not up to 4 stars standard. The breakfast could have been better.
This hotel was great value and very clean, with a nice bathroom. Although the decor was slightly dated it was very comfortable. The beds were comfy, although we didnt have a double bed, and there was a TV with some english channels! The bathroom and shower were nice too! the staff were nice, with one particular lady in the bar who was really lovely and very helpful giving advice about what to do.The hotel was in a good location, with just a 10/15 minute walk to the city center. The Breakfast was nice, typical continental breakfast but absolutely not worth paying €15 for, plus they did not ask for my room number either time that I went down. The decor was a bit old style but very clean so I cant complain! There was not much to do in Nijmegen on a Sunday but that wasnt the hotels fault. They did have bicycles to rent for €11 each for the day, but it was raining :(. and the 'deluxe rooms' do not have a double bed, they have two twin beds. You pay €20 extra per night for the upgrade.
quite, location close to city centre, easy to find, excellent breakfast, free hotel parking
Absolutly nothing The restaurant was bad, and breakfast too
Our deluxe double room had been upgraded to a suite. This made an excellent base as we were visiting our son who is studying at Raboud University. The lighting in our accomodation was very minimal. Plenty of table lamps but little main lighting.
The breakfast was great. The room was very comfortable.
Hotel staff was more than professional and courteous!
The hotel is in a scenic location and the staff are very helpful. The attached cycling museum is a big bonus. The room was quite cold - and the air conditioning did not seem to be functioning to give heat. The breakfast was okay, but not great.
Hotel was in a central position and our room had a great view of the river, with a big tall window. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was minimal, no hot food apart from a hard boiled egg.
Very pleasent location on the river front, friendly staff and perfect for touring the city.
The hotel had a lovely setting, very convenient for the city yet quiet and safe
Superb views over the river Waal. Bedroom and toilet could have been much cleaner.
- Staff is great. -Lobby looks great. - Hotel is incorporated in a museum! very special. - We could put the bicycles inside the hotel at night. -the breakfast tables were very very small, so were the breakfast plates. -room was small. -except for the lobby the entire hotel is exceedingly small. I felt like being in Madurodam. But I guess these cramped quarters are typically Dutch. -No free parking.
Quaint. Friendly family atmosphere. Attention to my needs. Limited restaurant facility.
the view of the wall river from our 4th floor window, and proximity to the centre of the old town of Nymegen. Generally a reasonably poor 2-3 star max. hotel, where you pay for the view. if you were on a lower floor, or without view, questionable.
The relaxed friendly atmosphere. Also, the proximity to other locations being close made it a wonderful place to bicycle to and from. The night staff was a bit less informed about how to route calls to the rooms. The internet access was too week from my room and I had to do all internet access from the lobby.
Actually, the internet was available in my room, other othels try to exploit fees for connecting to the internet, so it was a great plus Well, having stayed in other hotels in holland, I think it's average, I mean in other countries you can get much more for the same price, in general the hotel did not look very new, also, I don't like floor carpet, but it's very common
Newly refurbished hotel. Close to hospital, university campus.Perfect location for cycling and walking. Breakfast basic for the price category
Friendly staff, liked the style of the rooms. No lift, but staff is very helpfull.
Excellent service and very customer focussed
Good location 2 miles from Niemegen centre and on routes out/around city. Didn't use restaurant-but nobody seemed to anyway. Poor marketing of a very nice looking hotel. Toilet/washbasin space too small for comfort. Antiquated toilet flush system which smelled badly when flushed.
The staff was relaxed, polite, no avid on money The staff don't comunicate about the hotel bill payment (the lady from morning don't knew nothing about the payment in the previous evening made to her colleague)
The nice building and the friendy staff
Beautifully designed spacious rooms—top quality. Attendance to details, from organic chocolates to two different showerheads to fit your preference. Nice terrace for having breakfast, and a French balcony to a nice quite street. Owners are exceptionally friendly and generous. Highly recommended. Nothing at all.
The hotel has now installed large LCD TVs which also have cable TV with a wide range of channels. Staff are very friendly. No
pleasant friendly staff and well located in the city for reswtaurants, travel ,parking and even the concert hall, where we enjoyed a brilliant evening of classical music! room lights too dim...impossible to read
The location No Bar lounch room
room and reception the room needed more ventilation, but this is normal in hollland
The room was very comfortable and well prepared for arrival
Very friendly staff and well worth the price for a comfortable, clean room with modern bathroom facilities.
Room was clean and fairly spacious for Netherland. The location was excellent and the staff very friendly. Breakfast was a little dreary, but ample. Hotel could be more generous with soap and shampoo.
Very friendly staff. Central location.
Friendly reception and good breakfast
it is a very nice hotel to stay for spa wellness purposes. the hotel in general looks great, but there were to many (minor) things that bothered us(2 older couples), especially the warm temperature and the smell of the spa (sauna etc.) all around.
cheap, lots of space, nice pool smallest beds i've ever seen
A very good kitchen, but we didn't use it. The single bed is really too small .
swimming pool, fitness very good and professional
our room was very clean and airy . the staff were very helpful and polite. the hotel was quiet and relaxing, and my internet booking was very easy.
Generally i liked the comfort the Resort had to offer.
Our room, the swimmingpool and the breakfast
The family apartment was very roomy and well stocked with cookware, dishes ect. The breakfast was very good. Had to get picture taken in order to use fitness facilities/pool. Seemed like too much trouble for an overnight stay,
Lovely area. Rooms were a good value. Would've liked to know that the bus stop was a 10-15min walk.
The hotel is sitated on a beautifull place, very close to center of Nijmegen. Very relaxing atmosfere after hard work.
very nice enviorment, and very good hotel in the forrest. I like the trees there and the foutain and the fresh air. a good place for a weekend stay!the staffs are nice! the bed is too soft, can't sleep well. the lift is broken so luggage can't fit. and the apparatus seems a little bit out dated.
High standard, helpful staff, superb breakfast Expensive bar prices
Very nice room, nice staff, and situated in a lovely area.
the restaurant, verry good dinner and enjoyable breakfast the rooms are enough big but dark colours and didnt look like 4 stars hotel!
i have stayed at hotel erica before, it is close to the town, but the location makes you feel as if you are miles away
the location is ver nice close to the woods for a nice walk the sauna was verry small just one cabine
scrambles eggs in the morning, never seen so perfect in any hotel!
nice place inside the wood no cooking facilities for tea..., bath needs renovation, very small TV, expensive W-Lan access, old and dirty towels
Easy access, located at main road. Hotel located between the lanes of major road. Therefore some traffic noise audible.
Easy to find.Easy to park. Breakfast until 10.30. Close to city center, without being to exepensive.
free wireless the rooms are too expensive for what it is
It was with in 2 minutes from the customer I was visting. there was not much to do in that area. you could not go fow a walk because it was in between 2 roads but then again you can not have erevything.
The location of the hotel directly in between 2 very busy roads makes that you hear the cars in the rooms all night. And there is no rooms with no direct access to the roads. Advice is only to go for this hotel when there is really no other option.
correct service, efficient handling of the check-in breakfast could be better
very friendly staff too close to busy roads. Note able to open windows
it was clean and efficient. Staff were on the whole friendly and helpful. our booking stated breakfast costs seperately. Staff informed us breakfast had been added on for the 4 of us for the time of our stay. Had we not asked we would have been charged for breakfasts we had not had. At 11.50 euros a head, for a family of 4 that's a lot extra.
Central location, esy parking, excellent staff.
The surroundings were beautiful and we very much enjoyed walking in the woods. Receptionist was very friendly. Our evening meal was disappointing - my husband's steak was so raw it was purple (he asked for medium) and my fish course was very salty and strongly fishy. Also, the beds and pillows were not comfortable and we could hear our neighbours in the adjacent room.
The room is very big and the hotel staff was very friendly. The breakfast wasn't as high standard as expected.
Warm welcome, staff attentive & very helpful, room was spacious, clean, very comfortable beds, bathroom bits & pieces were a nice touch, quiet, but stayed open late.Food was very nice and parking was secure & free.Breakfast was excellent.
good villiage sightseen, good hotel service no
Used as a base for touring the area
warm & friendly, easy access, very quiet.
It was clean, quiet, good beds, friendly staff, good restaurant with good prices, good breakfast. Smallish rooms, but ok. Good location in a small town near Arnhem.
good service, sightseen
Very convenient as a base for commemoration events taking place in the area, pleasant situation in the small town of Elst and with off-road parking.
Staff were very helpful and kept the kitchens open for us...the food was excellent and very good value.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room faced the street which was very noisy late into the night and then again in the early morning. We got little sleep.
Good clean large bedrooms, once you'd navigated the labyrinth of corridors. The service in the evening was excellent but there was not a lot else to commend it. Labyrinth of corridors and stairs was not good, with a lift by name but not reality. Buffet breakfast was more hunt the waiter to ask for the buffet to be replenished.
