Food was excellant. Staff were very helpful. Room was a great surprise and a lovely treat. Breakfast hamper was fun. Vodafone signal was not good in hotel but okay in car park. Had booked 2 nights but when arrived they had arranged another night in a nearby hotel.
Lovely position and an impressive building. Staff polite, accommodating and friendly. I liked the decor and general feel of the hotel. Dinner was good, breakfast too; English with all the trimmings if wanted, as well as the offer of fruit, yoghurts - just right The ramp at the entrance took up most of the step space. I didn't like the fact I had a struggle to draw the curtains as some are off the runners. Shame about the big stain on the bedroom carpet. Oh yes, I would very much have liked to have been able to read about the background to the Hotel, was it a house at some time, who owned it etc...
The staff and service were excellent, the food was also top quality. A lack of hot water in the bathroom was the only gripe.
The atmosphere Yes, for a hotel with a number of business people staying, it had NO access to the internet
we stayed for dinner in the restaurant, the food was excellant our room was cold on arrival, no heating on until later in the day,we had fan heaters but after a long drive I think the rooms should be nice and warm and welcoming
The hotel was excellent. The room was lovely and the food was outstanding. The shower was not the best I'd ever used.
Fantastic evening meal in grand setting. Excellent full english breakfast. Large room, well appointed. Friendly and helpful staff
peaceful, excellent food, hotel staff very helpful. room was a good size only thing wrong with room was that the lighting could have been better,
staff, esp. receptionist and waiting staff were incredible. Amazing food, great value for money. noise from next door returning to their room drunk and arguing. Noise / quiet policy wasn't mentioned on checking in, might be a good idea to make all customers aware.
Not a great deal, it was dowdy and old fashioned, service was poor See above plus food was very average
Hotel is nice, envoriment is also very charming. Beds are so soft. not good for the back. It is not nice staying at very nice hotel but waking up with pain on the back.
Breakfast was buffet style, plenty of choice of cereals, fruit juice and cooked items. Staff were friendly. Noise from cars and youngsters visiting McDonald's was a bit disturbing late in the evening.
Ideally situated for breaking the journey from the south of england to scotland. staff were extremely helpful. breakfast is outstanding. nothing
breakfast very good corridors a bit shabby
Accessibility for touring yorkshire It was not appropriate for a short stay holiday location ~ there was not enough seating in the lounge area so we had to sit in the TV room on what are classed as cafe table and chairs. The hotel is probably ideal for conferences and overnight stay for delegates but not for tourists.
Good Breakfast spoiled by cold plates and heel ends for toast
Customer service was very good, all staff were very pleasant and helpful. The rooms, though clean and comfortable are in need of refurbishment. The towels provided need to be replaced competely, the ones we had were frayed and very thin.
Quick check in, room nice and warm. Ugly and worn furnishings; poor water pressure in the shower; grubby bath (mildew and a hair in it).
The staff were attentive and friendly. This was an overpriced hotel given the basic nature of the accommodation. For £69 one can stay in a 4* hotel in some cities.
The rooms were clean and the breakfast was very nice Bar only staying open till 11pm for residents. Bed's were un-comfortable
Easy to find, very pleasant and helpful staff, good selection for breakfast, clean and quiet room and plenty of milk for the tea!! N/A
It was more than expected excellent I would have liked a bar area
The luxury room A wedding was on at the hotel on our first night and we were put in a room directly above it. It was not a quite christmas getaway we had hoped for,
Lovely setting, excellent food comparable with michelin starred restaurants we have used, friendly and attentive staff. That we couldn't stay longer!!
Very good staff and pleasant surroundings The facilities for smokers were an insult and absolutely appallling when most pubs in slums do better as of course most hotels do too. Those at the wedding that was going on when we were there were equally disgusted on this issue. All my comments herein are all subject to this one criticism.
Very friendly staff, and location was brilliant with lovely views and grounds to walk in Nothing
The room (Roxby)was small. The bathroom wass poorly laid out ie you virtually had to climb over the toilet to enter the shower and the lighting was wholly inadequate.
The staff was lovely and most helpful.
The location, the view from the room and the contemporary decoration in the room The fire alarm that went off at 3.30am! The speed of the service wasn't great either, drinks in the lounge took ages and breakfast was a slow process
The staff. Attentive and courteous and professional
Clean, modern and comfortable Nothing at all
Room was clean and tidy. Breakfast was good.. Only downside do not go May Day weekend, large street fun fair outside Black Bull. We were lucky that we were there on the Thursday night and everything closed down by 22:45, would hate to have been there over the weekend.
The food and the room.
The hotel is in a fantastic location, and verry easy to find. The hotel grounds are wonderful, well worth a walk riubd. Our room was large and well decorated, and very comfortable. Very expensive, breakfast portion was tiny!
The lovely gardens and grounds, and table-service in the restaurant.
High quality escape from business Nothing
just about everything, the whole experience was most pleasing! no
We attended a wedding so only had bed and breakfast in the hotel which was excellent. The wedding arrangements all went well and seemed well organised.Having viewed the menue we will return for dinner at some furtre date.
I spend a lot of time in hotels and this time I felt as though I was in someone's home - A crisp autum walk around the grounds followed by hot chocolate in front of a real crackling log fire..heaven. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful and breakfast fresh cooked rather than kept warm under hot lamps. Bedroom cosy and comforable with stereo /cd with cds and i pod dock, candles and oil burner in the bathroom. I would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to avoid the 'corporate hotel' My only suggestion for any improvements would be that the decor in the room I stayed in was rather tired ( a bit 90's) and I would have loved a reading lamp in the armchair seating area to complete the experience.
hotel is immaculate and in stunning surroundings
Missed breakfast however they still provided us with a breakfast in the lounge whihc was excellent
lovely large room, very quiet and relaxing. beautiful grounds , had a nice walk through the woods. bed not comfortable due to mattress topper.
