Pros: Stayed before, it was excellent once again! So much attention to detail: from hand made chocolates and wonderful selection of fruit in the room, bath robe, slippers and toiletries, in fact nothing was missing - huge selection of tea bags and fresh coffee bags, even the tiny flask for the fresh milk which was a lovely touch. Then there was the excellent breakfast!!!!!! I could go on...... All this in the most gorgeous historical property, where all original features have been retained and renovated to a very high standard.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Porch house was the main 'jewel in the crown' of Northallerton with our hosts doing all they could to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The breakfast was superb and we did not eat for the rest of the day on our further travel north into central Scotland. Fortunately for us they had a vacancy for our return trip and we look forward to another overnight stay - we have recommended Porch House to a number of friends already and will look to book again on any future trips north.
Cons: Nothing comes to mind - we had an excellent, friendly stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a fabulous place. To call it a B and B is a bit of an understatement. It is the oldest house in Northallerton built in the 16th century and frequented in by Charles 1. The rooms are immaculate, both in terms of cleanliness and decor. There is a lovely garden and guests reception room and the rooms are in a separate part of the house from the proprietors. They were lovely and formerly ran a restaurant so excellent breakfast and home made cakes. Also great location right next to the high street.

The hotel is lovely and I can imagine it must be a great venue for weddings.

Pros: Lovely place to stop off to break up our journey, excellent food!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely breakfast and lovely accommodating staff
Cons: The shower could have been bigger and more powerful but it was satisfactory
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, staff pleasant, parking ok, food was ok it was just not how I expected it to be cooked. Would stay again but possibly eat before I arrived.
Cons: Everything we ate seemed to swim in butter, if the food was served, without all that butter filling the plates then I couldn’t fault the meal, it was cooked well and there was plenty of it. That was my only grievance on a pleasant stay.

6.3 Good
Pros: The location is fantastic and all the reception staff are a big asset.
Cons: The day staff were lovely, the night staff unusual. The Motel is in a fantastic location but is looking very tired and old. My cousin had his wedding reception here nearly 35 years ago and nothing has changed. Could go with a refurb, woodwork rotten, creaky floors in both rooms and corridors, Windows need replacing and there is a lot of unused space. The place could be a wee gold mine. The pillows smelt of stale smoke. Not sure why.
5.8 Okay
Pros: I was not expecting too much given the recent reviews but was surprised at the level of cleanliness. Bathroom was clean, with clean , unmarked towels and the bed was nice and comfy, again with very clean linen.
Cons: If you step back to 1983 and think of "Crossroads" you are on the right lines, in its heyday of the 1980's this place must have been very good, however wind forward 35 years and things are a little different. Everything is very dated with chipped paint and old light fittings and tired decor in the reception and hallways. Don't get me wrong the place was clean, just very tired. But given the reviews and price band this was acceptable as I was out for most of the two days I spent in the area .
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice reception. Decent bedroom.
Cons: Stains in the bath and the shower
5.5 Okay
Pros: Location right next to the A1M, and the room was clean but the water from the shower trickled out!
Cons: The whole facility is completely run down to the point that it all looks closed! No bar, no food except McDonalds or Costa coffee! Sits right on top of the lorry park so all night long you have lorries coming in and out making the noise level unbearable. 10 minute walk to the nearest pub that doesn't serve food on a Monday or Tuesday, all this needs to be made aware before booking!!
6.3 Good
Pros: Room was clean and tidy. Breakfast was good..
Cons: Only downside do not go May Day weekend, large street fun fair outside Black Bull. We were lucky that we were there on the Thursday night and everything closed down by 22:45, would hate to have been there over the weekend.
