Great location, within 2 blocks of central station downtown Hotel is 100% computerized- you check in and out on a terminal Very easy and efficient. The hotel rooms are very small, like staying on a cruise ship, economy class. The rooms are very spartan with a small beds, a desk, a chair and small bathroom. Otherwise, they did provide a good wifi signal. If you don't mind clean and spartan, this hotel would be great when in Oslo.
proximity to the train station room was spacious enough No kleenex
Location and price were right
location poor business center (only 1 computer, tiny) poor barkeeper in Grand Cafe: did not know his sherries nor acquavit: served both different sherries and aquavit than asked for. door to french balcony could not be closed properly letting in a lot of noice during the night.
location was great. breakfast was poor and needed to wait for the coffee very long. Rooms need renovation badly.
This is a warm hotel which seems to appreciate its customers. The room was an elegant modern design filled with quality. It was attractive and stylish and contained a very comfortable bed. We really liked this hotel and will stay there again.
Excellent Hotel and superb staff
The carpets in the lobby were lovely! The staff at reception when I checked in were not very helpful. I was waiting to be attended to and they dealt with three other people who came in after me. There was also three fire alarms going off in the afternoon. Each time I followed the fire instructions and went downstairs but there were no staff there to advise me when it was safe to go back in or what had happened. When I was leaving via the stairs the third time, there was a workman vacuuming the staircase and he told me not to worry and that it was nothing. Not a very professional attitude from any of the staff.
Nothing. Not as represented. Old Hotel not kept up.
The location there has gone a lot of things wrong for us at the grand hotel unfortunately. there has not been room cleaning the whole weekend. the video system dind't work proper and this could not be solved. the spa we couldn't make use of with our 2 1/2 year old, because he should be 3 years. unfortunately they could only inform us about this after we were dressed in our bading suits. the hotel staff wasn't very cooperating.
I liked the location of the hotel it was very central and the staff we very friendly. The foo was good and the hotel was very clean
Comfort, breakfast Noise during the night from outside.
exceptionally good was the breakfast, very wide variety of anything you can wish for and great service( michael from the brekfast service was very helpful and gave a great service!). also the view from the hotelbar is great! the "business class" rooms were a little bit old fashioned and run down, but clean and everythign was there.
Breakfast The room was old and not entirely clean, staying at this hotel was a true disappointment, not value for money at all!!
The staff was excellent - they helped me recover my kindle when I accidentally left it on the airport shuttle. They also helped me with directions and provided assistance in finding my way around Oslo. The breakfast buffet was very good as well. Room temperature was a bit warm for my taste - the ac was apparently not on yet (early spring), so I could not make the room cooler.
Breakfast buffet was nice, good location Didn't really have air conditioning -- our room was really hot which was disruptive
The roof bar and the location with a nice walk to the city center.
Very nice breakfast in nice room The interior of the rooms is "dated"
Very slow/non-existant Room Service.
Friendly staff, nice room and very clean.Good location. We decided to have a meal on the night we arrived in the dining room, waiter said how good the food was,he took our order and we ordered a bottle of wine then he returned to say all that was available was a burger. Not good for first impression.
We don't know what we would have liked because our reservation was cancelled on the morning of our flight to Oslo because of a hotel workers strike. Obviously, we didn't like the need to find another hotel at the very last minute.
Stig the Receptionist at front desk who tried to rectify the problems with our rooms My wife and I arrived on the 17th August 2015, and on attempting to check-in we were told the "computer system" was not working and therefore we we not able to check in. We were told to either wait (they could not provide an estimate on how long it would take). After a 15-min wait we were checked in "manually". As an American Carlson member, I presented my Club Carlson Gold card, but it wasn't accepted because my trip was booked through Kayak! Nevertheless after a short delay we were in our room. Immediately we noticed that the carpet in the room was dirty, and there were 2-single beds (as opposed to a double as we booked) Credit to the front desk staff who promptly reassigned us to a "newly refurbished" room. The room was a marked improvement over the last, and we happily settled in; unpacking our suitcases and preparing for an afternoon of sightseeing. On return in the evening, we prepared for the night and around 20:00 we tried to lock the door. The door lock did not work. A call to the front desk and a couple of minutes later someone from maintenance was at our door. I explained that the door wouldn't lock from the inside and he insisted that the lock was working. I was a bit taken back by his curt response, but nevertheless invited him to try. What followed next had me flabbergasted! The maintenance employee closed the door, and using his body weight proceeded to to yank on the door handle until he could engage the lock. Curtly he replied, "There it is locked". I attempted to unlock door by turning the lock itself and when I couldn't he demonstrated how to unlock the door. Standing on his toes and again using all his body weight he pressed down on the door handle until the lock disengaged. Again the curt response, "There it is unlocked". I couldn't believe it! Visibility annoyed at this point, when I pointed out that locking the door in such a manner would be a fire hazard (not to mention my wife will never be able to unlock the door if I locked it), he suggested that I actually didn't need to lock the door as no one from the outside could get in without a key. In response I stated that any member of staff could enter if the door was unlocked, to which he acknowledged was true and said I could either call the front desk to arrange a new room, lock the door as he demonstrated, or leave the door unlocked; but there was nothing he could do to fix the lock. Another call to the front desk and we were offered a room on the 20th floor. So after repacking we moved to our 3-room for the day. From then on the only issues we faced were with our room keys. Every time we left our room, the room key would not let us back in. So we had to make our way to the front desk where they would make a new key. Every time without fail!
I stayed 2 nights for a city break and found the hotel fine in particular I found the sauna a welcome relief after touring the city all day. The breakfast buffet had everthing you would want with good quality ingredients. It was a good location just a 5 min walk to the main street karl johans. my only fault was the room was a little small (twin queen were 2 single beds although comfortable) with no tea coffee making facility which is a pity especially when walking around the city all you look forward to is a warm cup of coffee to relax in your room, the hotel lobby was dated the chairs were quiet worn and the leisure facilities (pool) was freezing!!
The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. The swimming pool and sauna had free lockers and plenty of fluffy white towels. The breakfast was absolutely amazing. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others. The booking details were totally correct. Thank you. No.
Breakfast was great Rooms were small, pillows were terrible.
Best location, good breakfest
Nice location in the middle of town. Didn't have any problems during my stay. Hotel room is basic but clean. The breakfast selection is huge, and I think typical for most Scandic properties.
Amazing breakfast (included everything), very clean, great spot, exactly downtown, very helpful and polite staff, It was my first time in norway so i cant compare with other norwegian hotels, but this one seemed amazing.
Alt er på en viss god stabil nivå Astronomisk pris for å brke internett i lobby.
The rooms were well appointed and the staff was top notch. Scandic's location in Oslo was great, minutes walk from the heart of the city.
Yes, good location and good breakfast
Fantastic breakfast, excellent location.
Hotel is clean, breakfast is outstanding, good bedding Some staff members are helpful, and some are not
The breakfast was quite good. The rooms were not clean properly (Dust and hair). Carpet was filthy. Water boiler was unhealthy. Due to an extreme noise level our first room (9th floor) was changed. The bed was uncomfortable and it was very difficult to sleep two persons in it, being way too soft. The extra pillow in the cabinet was full of hair. The lunch/Xmas buffet came with a surprise, a black/short curly hair on the ham. The male receptionist should not be working in a service oriented job. He had a very arrogant attitude.
Very nice breakfast buffet. Perfect location near Stortinget and Nobel Price Center.
Breakfast The bad was not clean and in the room was pretty cold.
This hotel has all the needed facilities and is perfectly located in the centre of Oslo. Despite agreement there was no early check in possible and no coffee/tea facility available. The TV was also very old.
Most appreciated was the polite and efficient staff
Breakfast according to expectations with Norwegian touch.Magnificent view on the National Theater (front view) is worth asking for. City center location with access to all nearby landmarks of the city center. Room was rather cold (no temperature control possible).
Great hotel with fantastic location in the city center. Everything nearby. Staff is extremely friendly and help you with all your questions. Especially the bell-boys at the entrance. The restaurant in the hotel (Theatercafeen) is the most famous one in Oslo and also very nice to have a diner. a lot of business people. Cosy restaurant on 1st floor (Gourmet) and nice lobby-bar for an afternoon coffee. Free use of computer, printer and internet. Facilities in the room are super. Fantastic view (ask room on higher level). Would certainly visit hotel again for a next stay. Oslo is very very expensive...but that is in whole Scandinavia.
Very clean and new. The staff was very helpful. The terrace was a great place to hang out and plan the day and in the evening, have a beer. Very good breakfast. No coin laundry nearby. Be aware that this is a cashless hotel. That's not a bad thing, just don't plan to use cash for anything. The single room is tiny. Bed, restroom, entrance, area to step off bed--each make up a quarter of the room. The sink is too small to wash a shirt in. Don't plan to hand wash anything.
Very comfortable room. Excellent bed and armchair! Perfect with ironing board and possibilty to hang up clothes-hangers in shower. Placing of breakfast rather erratic. Spent a lot of time finding the different items of food and drink and getting them to my table.
Perfectly located with normal living condotions. Reception staff could be more friendly Wi-Fi internet would really help as we had only phones and pda, plus it is very cheap to implement.
a cosy warm room for unseasonable cold Oslo weather The shower and wash basin took ages to warm up - I can't imagine the amount of water that was wasted.
Location, comfortable rooms, good food.
a sauna would be perfect in such cities especially in winter time. the breakfast is not good...Nobody attended the room (until 8:00). Little choice of fresh fruit...No green tea available.
friendly and helpfull staff
Very convenient location. Walking distance to large parts of Oslo city
Clean, quiet, conveniently located in the heart of Oslo
Perfect Location The Bus stop for to and from airport shuttle is right at the entrance of the hotel The hotel is in a perfect center of the city Most of the things/places to see in Oslo are within 10 minutes walking distance of this hotel Hundreds of restaurants, bars and late night fast food places available within 3 to 5 minutes walking Perfect place if you are visiting Oslo for leisure or business. Staff is very polite and friendly. Maybe need to improve on soundproof windows
breakfast was okay We would liked to have any information regarding the fire alarm after we went down to the lobby. Nobody told us what it was all about......
The hotel has been newly redecorated, but it has kept the Norwegian traditions. Perfect location.
Great location and wonderful roof top lounge. not too clean, overall renovation would be needed. Breakfast buffet poor and service not particularly good.
Nice hotel, but noisy No record of internet booking process available when checking in
Very nice clean hotel No
interesting experience for a short stay the sailings were all black which will feel after a couple of more days depressive
Stylish, hip hotel. Very comfortable mattress on bed. Helpful and accommodating bar staff. The airconditioning was set at 24°C and could not be changed despite the warm weather. The AC dial could be lowered to 18°C but it reset itself to 24°C a few minutes later. The bedding was a doona and despite the fabulous bed I hardly slept due to the overheating. The concept lighting is so stylish that it is not possible to use the bathroom at night without lighting the room. The very hip shower flooded the bathroom.
Everything went smoothly; from letting us in the room at 8am after long overnight flight on September 17, Constitution Day, great style, friendly staff, generous breakfast and location. Loose plumbing fixture in bath.
Design hotel, uncategorized, out of the common standards ! Design is sometimes opposite to functional. The lightning system is the room was surely conceived by a superior engineer...but if you want to stand up at night without disturbing your partner, it's becoming a real challenge ! Otherwise, the lack of view on the outside (the window was giving on an interior courtyard).
The Bar at the roof deck The Service. Didn't get the room I#ve booked. Air Condition didn't work in the suites.
quality breakfast, great location, very helpful staff, everything looks very stylish and cosy - great weekend getaway! Summer rooms are quite small, view to the hotel yard. Get prepared for big spending - Norway is way too expensive!
Gabriel, your service is perfect!!
The balcony of the room was well situated, the room was lovely.Inclusive breakfast had a good selection of food with great coffee. The room was not ready on my early arrival,as had been previously arranged. The room in general was unclean and the bedding was too soft.
Location was perfect and staff was very friendly There was a lot of noise from the street. I was missing a gym in the hotel
Location, decor, confort was good. Rude staff with no clue for hospitality.
City Center; perfect location price/quality questionmark.
The location is perfect, right in the center of Oslo, between the Storting and the National theatre. The room was spacious, and the service at breakfast very attentive. There was no telephone in the room, no WiFi, and the designer chairs looked good, but was not really suited for sitting. The reception area looked unfinished and the minute bar was untidy. Only one of the people in the reception spoke Norwegian. The hotel restaurant did not serve lunch, as advertised, and on top of this, it did not serve alcohol at all (!) I had a room towards the back, but one of the two nights I stayed there, it was incedibly noisy (a night club nearby?) - bring earplugs. If you are looking for a bed and breakfast hotel, this is fine (although expensive), but it is not a full-service hotel. Surprised that the Hilton chain allows a hotel to be opened when it clearly is not finished.
Very good location near the national theater. Polite and friendly staff. Rooms are not very big, but ok size though.
ambiance for that price I expected a bath...and didn't get one
Ecletic hotel and a welcome change from the usual business offering
We were supposed to stay at the Apotek Hote. We arrived early in the morning from an overnight flight from Seattle. The staff was so kind and got us into a room right away at the Bristol Hotel next door. They also wanted us to have a quieter room because of the Pride Celebration that week-end. Loved the location and the kindness of the staff, because I ask a lot of questions. Chris
breakfast furniture a little shabby in places
The gracious public spaces - and great breakfast! All the personel were very pleasant and competent. The noise ourside - but both nights we were there were Saturdays.
It's a lovely old characterful hotel. The room was small but clean. We stayed in a room overlooking a bar. Unfortunately it was so noisy that we couldn't sleep until the bar closed in the early hours.
The breakfast buffet was excellent. Room was well-appointed with wood floors and very nice furniture. Everyone we dealt with on staff was thoroughly professional. The lobby was impressive. There are a lot of rooms and the hallways all look the same, as do the rooms. No big problem, but if you're looking for somewhere with period charm, you'll be let down.
The beds were extremely comfortable and the breakfast was delicious! The reception had a hard time giving us restaurant suggestions for the area.
the location is the only redeming featurem Very poor customer service. The hotel did not have my reservation and wrongly blamed booking.com. The window did not open in first room offered. All rooms at back of hotel are noisy with fans running all night. Staff said the fans would cut out at midnight - they do not. I moved to Bondenheim on opposite corner after one night. lower price and better staff by a mile.
Everything was wonderful. Comfortable room, big breakfast, nice gym, relaxing lounges and restaurants. Great location and pleasant, helpful staff. Gym was too hot.
We stay there every time we are in Oslo. very often .(good answer) This time Bristol had an offer since they had an anniversry. 6 year. I was told when I arrived that we would get the same offer as my friend 500 kr. but next day , I had to pay full price. Must have people in reception that no have to answer.
Room was clean but bit small, good breakfast, friendly staff.
Breakfast was great
Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and were always willing to assist with taxi and other requests. They also prepared breakfast packs for us when we had to leave early. They also had printing facilities connected to the internet. Location appeared to be in the business district rather than the shopping district.
Great hotel. Very service friendly staff. Extra bed free of charge!
The breakfast was good, but the dinner in the same restaurant (with white table cloth) was very poor. It was near the centre of the city, but a long walk from the central station. The fitness room was clean but the sauna was not working. Dinner menu was limited.
Undiscribable bad service do not stay therer.
Comfy beds. Friendly and very helpful staff. Good breakfast. Spotless and new-looking rooms. Decor is little soulless.
The location is perfect. Within walking distance of everything. Not enough personnel to handle breakfast: the poor employees were never able to keep up with table cleaning and replenishing of food and drinks. In addition, the breakfast room was nowhere near big enough for the number of guests. It was like McDonalds on a bad day. I tried calling reception from my room three times to get the internet password but never got an answer. I had to go down and ask for it. There was nobody else there. When I asked why no one was answering the guy said it had been very busy... The view from my room was depressing, a concrete grey wall and the fire escape. Could not see the sky at all. Bathroom door did not provide enough intimacy.
Excellant breakfast, very clean room and friendly stuff..
Location, design, comfort.
Very good location. Too cold in the room and not possible to stop the air conditionning! Staff not very friendly.
location I asked to put the company address on the invoice at check-in, when checking out (so time was limited) this was not done. In restaurant the service was poor: the first 2 red wines by the glass I wanted to order were not available and the waitress only found out when she went to get them, the salad was served without any dressing and the potato gratin consisted of reheated, big chunks of potato floating in a white fluid. Breakfast was meagre.
We liked its central location, close to the water front and the main city centre. It was convenient for all the public transport which was very good. It was easy to get to all places of interest in the Oslo area. Many were within walking distance. We loved the hotel. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was excellent.
Stylish and clean general appearance. No wardrobes in the rooms.
The hotel has a great location. Excellent breakfast choice
Nice hotel inside, nice room, good breakfast and nice staff. Very centrally located Seen from outside the hotel looks grey and dull. The building and the entrance is not impressive, but nice inside !
Excellent hotel in a good location - particularly liked the always available coffee and tea, and the chance to make pancakes in the afternoon
The rooms and service, facilities (food, leisure facilities etc) were all very good. The room was cold as the heating did not work, we were moved to another room and a oil radiator was also put in the room, which made it allot warmer. Also the remote controls in both rooms did not work despite replacing them at reception.
friendly staff, good facilities, walking distance from the centre
Wide and good choice and quantity of food for breakfast and light evening meal. Beautiful sauna and whirpool!!! The air conditioning was out of order! And they didn't fix it during my staying. The hotel is in the city center very easy to be found and with very good connection (10 min to the central station), but not near some street very similar to... A red district...
It was a warm ,cosy hotel, designed beautifully and full of charm.there was fresh fruit, salads and hot and cold drinks which was on offer the whole day.We very much enjoyed our stay at the clarion.
Service at the reception was very good and friendly. We had a choice of different rooms and we had an opportunity to see them first. Beds were comfy. Evening buffet and pancaces were great. The price was much higher than anywhere else and the area was not very pleasant.
Staff very friendly meals offered were great. location is close to train station, but walk to hotel did not feel safe.
I was offered an upgrade at a good price, took it, and got the best hotel room I ever had in Oslo. I spend between 50 and 100 nights a year at Oslo hotels...
The staff was very helpful and courteous. Also the fact that breakfast and "light" dinner came with the price of the room was excellent. It ws actually a dinner. It was an excellent value whicgh sometimes is hard to find in Europe.
Centrally located, especially with respect to shopping and night life (many things just 5min walking), good breakfast, free WLAN. Early check in was not possible – after some discussion suddenly room available -> personal not the most committed. Worst: Air condition wakes you up @7.30 in the morning when you have the room towards the (ugly) back yard (even with closed window). Therefore I will not book this hotel again.
location, staff the room we had was not a double, they adapted it from single to double...6-8 sqm!
Breakfast was good and room adequate Windows are quite thin, so it might get chilly during the actual winter. Now it was ok, but a little bit drafty.
Excellent location! We were very pleased with the service as we got upgraded as we got to the hotel.Would stay there again. This is not about the hotel, but about Booking.com; we did not receive any confirmation when booking the hotel, and as we had book several other hotels that day for a travel, it was hard to find out exactly which hotels that we had booked.
Located in the city center.
The great advantage of this hotel is its central location; also close to one of the airport bus stops and to Oslo public transport. Straightforward and relatively low-priced hotel. Perfectly adequate for our sightseeing requirements.
Tidy and a nice breakfast buffet The room was horribly cold !
A great central location.
our superior twin room was furnished very well, newly decorated and the beds were comfortable; breakfast buffet was great, also the possibility to buy a lunch at a low price; the location of the hotel in the city center is perfect; price-quality in an expensive city like Oslo was perfect we stayed at the backside of the hotel which was the quiet side but unfortunately a very noisy outside airconditioning was turned on between 07.15 and midnight; the air conditioning in our room did not function at all so at night it was too hot; a shower screen would prevent the wooden bathroom door from getting damaged by the water
The hotel is very well located, next to the Parliament building and Karl Johans street, not far from Aker Brygge.
I enjoyed the hotel staff, and the breakfast was also good.
Very good location for main street, national gallery and royal palace a nice area felt very safe. The light evening meal was excellent lots of choice and comfortable room to eat in The furniture in our large room was very sparce, a tiny wardrobe and no drawer space but at least the carpet was brand new
near to main shopping
We liked having a dinner meal included. The hotel's design style was very nice. The hotel was centrally located in Oslo. The elevator was large enough for only one person with luggage and two without luggage.
Location, light dinner, large room. Only one elevator
excellent hotel and very central for shops and harbour.complementry evening buffet very good. We had a great 3 night stay. None
Provision of buffet supper (simple but more than adequate) much appreciated.
The lounge with food Shame the resturant was shut
The hotel position is very good. The hotel was small but comfortable, though it is more like a 3 star hotel. It is a little pricy but it probably is because of the high season.
