The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. the surroundings were stunning, the rooms were large and comfortable.
The owner and staff could not have been more helpful and we had a very enjoyable overnight stay, though the location is such that it is more suitable to short stays. The setting is hard to beat and the views spectacular. Dinner was freshly prepared and absolutely delicious. The breakfast was a little disappointing and lunch menu limited, although every effort was made to accomodate our requests.
the place was very quiet and clean. we also enjoyed the receiving and staff availability.
too far from the city centre and 25km from airport, down deserted road, all staff french, no tv despite request, overpriced, no free transfer as advertised only one shuttle bus at 9-30 am, otherwise £30 for taxi
Everything was great! Peaceful place to relax away from busy Marrakesh. However free daily shuttle to the city available so no problem to visit. Very nice staff and food. Great rooms, spa and swimming pool. Pricey food (for the Marrakesh), however still less expensive than English restaurants :)
Staff were freindly. Very spacious rooms. Free transfer from airport and daily free stransfer to Marrakesh centre. Restaurant was expensive and not very good. It was a very long way out.
This is a hotel where guests are welcomed by the owner and rooms are unique with very tasteful funiture. Decoration is authentic to the berber region of marrakech. The hotel is situated on the outskirt of marrakech. Its perfect for relaxation, no noise, pool with view to the mountains, hammam and massage in the hotel, fine food etc. Travellers looking for a city hotel might find better places. Far from the city (30 min drive).
Great location, clean, good size apartment, fantasticviews from swimming pool, very friendly and helpful staff Lack of English amongst staff, poor meal choices, prices! Despite the special offer quoted at the time of booking - Stay 3 nights pay for 2 in the Riad Apartment - this was not honored by the hotel at the time of settling the bill!
All the attention and the confort
Well located, this smaller hotel will not attract the big crowds. Personnel very friendly. This is not a 5 star hotel were you can eat and enjoy a la carte food or spa treatments. You can not order a la carte if not reserved your food 12 or 24 hours in advance and your spa treatments if not in package is costing a fortune. Best to take a journey with food included (and its not high cuisine) than doing like us only suit facility. You will end up eating the same every evening. Attention ! for room service , they will charge you 5 euro per person (yes even for 2 glasses) although wrongly mentioned in their room booklet at + 5 euro per room.
Well appointed, spacious room. Big swimming pool with elegant poolside furniture. Felt we were being held to ransom! Meals were astronomically expensive and poor, and only way to get away was by taxi as location is very isolated. Breakfast was identical (and dull) each day- would have expected a buffet at hotel like this. Lunch- no apparent choice and again identical 3 out of 4 days. After dinner on first night kept well away- good restaurants in city centre much better and cheaper, and entertaining! Felt we were being exploited because hotel was nearly empty. Wish we had stayed at a riad in city centre.
Best feature of this hotel is the quiet and spacious area this hotel offers. The small number of rooms and the huge available area really creates a relaxed and quiet atmosphere. Hanging around on the pool and relaxing some days can be done perfectly well here. Improvement potential is definitely existing in the relation of price and offered service of the restaurants. Prices for drinks and dinner / lunch are really too high. The abroad location of the hotel (>20 minutes taxi ride from city center) leads to expensive taxi rides if you are not with your own car.
We were in Jenna Rouge (same company), & for the money, can't be beat! Great staff. Those 2 were fantastic, & genuinely friendly, kind, & considerate. Great location, 8 min walk to the main square. Very quiet & calm area. Saggy mattress, not great for 2 people.
Everything is outstanding. Every single dish served tasted extremely good, hotel staff is very helpful, the Riad is outstanding (very clean, beautifully decorated and very quiet). Good air conditioning and nice roof terrace with jacuzzi. The pool is beautiful but small and is in the patio, so swimming disturbs any guests eating/relaxing but the rooftop jacuzzi makes up for that!
staff fantastic and helpfull
The Riad was so beautiful and so well run, a calm and welcoming place with a lovely family-staff feel - relaxed but efficient. I would love to go back often.
very nice and genuine design&settings, calm and relaxing atmosphere, warm and friendly people with an utmost professional approach.
Flam, Steve, Emily and all other staff are wonderful! Everything is possible. The hotel is absolutely beautiful (designed by Flam herself). It's very close to Djeema el-Fna square and other major tourist attracions. Make sure to go eat at Kosybar (5 min walk).
We loved Riad Flam. There was no request we made that the staff did not do everything possible to accommodate. The Riad is an oasis which surpassed all of our expectations from setting, the beautiful decor, to service (including an impromptu cooking class where we learned to make lamb couscous. We would absolutely recommend this place to anyone
staff were very warm and helpfull . food is excellent, service first class, crisp bed sheets, clean, very comfortable stay .children loved it .will go back again for sure. the neighbourhood is not great.price is bit dear .just hope next time they have bigger pool .
A lovely and relaxing riad. Also excellent food and great spa treatments. -
It was very relaxing, beautiful surroundings an oasis in the middle of a busy Medina. Staff were friendly and helpful. Highly reccommend this hotel.
Loved this beautiful Riad. Couldn't fault it. Flam and her staff were very friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome and safe. Cleanliness of a high standard. Food good. Loved the spa. Treatments excellent. Comfortable beds and very nice bathroom. Fabulous rooftop garden with jacuzzi and comfortable sunbeds. Service on hand at any time of the day. Had heard it is the best Riad in Marrakesh and I think you would be hard pushed to find a better one! Would definitely stay there again.
All of it. There are many pros and cons in deciding a traditional Riad over a modern hotel. With the Riad Dar Shana it was definitely the case of the glass being more than half full. The ambiance, tranquillity, and personalized service we received at the Riad Dar Shana made our stay terrific. The staff were very accommodating to our young family (sterilizing baby bottles, boiling water, kids running around and making noise etc). The Moroccan decor of the Riad was great and the courtyard was cool, tranquil and inviting after the hustle and bustle of the Medina. Nothing but you need to be accepting that staying here is an experience. For instance the walk to the souks took 20-30 mins but was an adventure that many tourists would not get if staying elsewhere
Lovely Riad within the old walled city, it was an oasis in the middle of the hussle and bussle of Marrakesh. The staff and accommodation was simply fantastic and although we initially thought it was a little bit far away, it was always a nice walk down the locals main street into the Medina - turned out to be a fantastic base for sightseeing by foot.
Good value for money. The hosts were friendly and helpful. The room was very nice. The location is not perfect, but not bad. It is a bit of a walk to main attractions. Careful of 20% fee for credit cards. Be prepared to have local currency on hand to pay your bill.
Staff was very welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was not particularly amazing and the same each day with no choice.
Lounge area with pool and comfy chairs. Helpful staff, great atmosphere and food, good bathroom. Very quiet. Potential guests should be told there is a 5 minute walk down narrow lanes from where taxis drop you off. This was very intimidating in the dark when we arrived. Also, there was no name outside the riad when we reached it, and it would have been reassuring to see one. Minor quibble - the western "muzak".
A great stay. Staff very freindly and the loaction lets you experinece a more authentic area of Marrakech. Easily beats the glitzy 5 star hotels that surround the city.
The Riad Dar Shana is a little oasis in the caos of the city . It's a wonderful place near the city center: 20 minutes to walk, but if you want a taxi it costs only 3 euro. It's elegant, peaceful and extremely clean. The room are fantistic with their maroccan design and the bathroom too. The staff was the better i have never met . It is always helpful and help you in every your request . Here the tourist is not a number like the big hotel but it is a special guest. Furthermore, you have to try the delicious dinner that it's possible to order there. I suggest this riad to everyone who wants to visit marrakesh in order to have a great stay.
Friendly environment, very quiet location, cousy, warn reception and availability of the staff. We would recommend this to our friends.
Friendly environment, peaceful and tranquil in what is a busy hustle bustle of street life.
The courtesy and kindness of the staff, always available night and day for any information or need. We felt like at home and wish to come back soon!
The ambience in the hotel was awsome
Good position, 5 minutes walking from the Place Jemaa El Fnaa Staff was not very nice and the room was not really clean (i found some hairs in the bed). Moreover it was not possible to pay with credit card. The shuttle for the airport, by the way, costs 15 €
The beautiful room and bathroom. The lovely terrace just the whole riad was beautiful! And the nice typical Marroco breakfast. There is no swimmingpool what was in discreption of the riad.
The great price, the position, the breakefast, the trips organized by the riad Unfavourable change practized by the hotel: remember always to pay in Euro and not in DHS. Hi prices of some trips, considering that there is no tourist guide or lunch included.
Great experience of local Marrakech way of living.
We loved everything about this hotel, the owners were fantastic, so helpful and kind. The room was beautiful and very comfortable. We could find no fault with anything.
Everything! Authentic Morrocan feel, an oasis in the hustle/bustle of Marrakech, totally relaxing. The staff and owners could not do enough to enhance our stay! No
The Hotel is managed by Colette and her husband who are increadibly helpful in making your sty more comfortable. The hotel syaff offer a friendly service without being intrusive. The hotel is located just outside the souk.
Very friendly and informative staff - made to feel very welcome
Outstanding staff/owners, very friendly and helpful. Beautiful riad with good location. Would love to visit again.
The host and hostess were very helpful and lovely, Made us feel very welcome. Our room was very comfortable and quiet but the highlight was the delicious breakfasts up on the terrace.
Beautiful, clean moroccan style rooms with spacious bathroom. Lovely continental breakfast on the rooftop terrace. Personal attention and help from the riad owners on places to visit in the city. Location was a bit hard to find in the back streets, but the owners provided a personal taxi from the airport which is recommended.
Great position in the medina, really friendly staff and owners. A really great place to stay.
very nice - no complains. The hosts are very helpful too.
Location was good and Riad hosts were extremely helpful. There were some ants in our bathroom...
Very nice staff, very clean , good location , would definitely stay there again
Beautiful riad and rooms (Racine). The quality of the linen and towels are a real luxury. It takes a little while to orientate yourself in the city, but that would apply to most riads. It would help if a city map was provided on check-in.
The common areas, the staff, breakfast, decor The room was a bit small
The Riad is located in a very quite part of Marrakech. To come back after a busy day in town was always a pleasure. The Riad is nicely designed and very relaxing to stay in. The only negative point was the noise. The doors and windows are not sound proof and so in the morning you hear quite a lot of noises !
Gorgeous riad. They could not do enough for us - from free transfers from the Airport to water , tea, soda whenever we wished. Luxurious bedding and a great cooking class made our stay perfect.
Excellent location ,room and very friendly and helpful staff .Free and very efficient transport to and from the airport The only problem like most places in Marrakesh is finding it- as there are very few street or building names. The advice is that first time out remember the route!
The riad is clean and tidy. the cook, cleaner amd two boys who serve on are very polite The riad is set amongst 'real marrakech' If you do not want to step out of the riad and see beggars, rubbish, street life then this place is not for you. The room descriptions may leave a lot to be desired, our room said had a bathtub which is why we booked. It doesnt have one. The manager offered us one night in a room that did have a bathtub which we took up, the manager has found herself a very secure niche and takes advantage of the free wi fi in the riad most afternoons. The food is very expensive compared to the square..Wine is 25euro a bottle and beer 2.50 euro a can this compares with most restaurants in the new city..Remember alcohol is not usually available in the old town,,,
The location, the traditional meal, the breakfast, the room, the design of hotel.
Beautiful historic building refurbished to high standards and quality, very peaceful, great food excellent staff and very clean. Set in a great location 15 min from the central areas of Marrakesh. A very peaceful standard Riad with helpful staff highly recommended. The manager was excellent and spoke several languages but more written information could be made available for consideration such as available trips meals etc.
Very nice athmosphere and lovely breakfast.
Clean, nice people, very good breakfast, calm, pretty decoration, Never showed up at the airport to pick us up as asked, bad french and english spoken by staff, hard to find, toilets in the room without wall between, expensive, no help with a map for touristic spots, no possibility of credit card payment, payment asked the day before,
