10.0 Excellent
Pros: Attractive location, nice pool.
Cons: Food at both dinner and breakfast was fair, not a good value for the money.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast, friendly staff, nice property
5.0 Okay
Pros: The towels were nice and the breakfast was very, very good. The bed was very comfortable.
Cons: Felt a little pressured to make a dinner reservation, which I was not interested in. The layout of the room was not optimal as the bed is very close to the door and I could hear every sound outside it. The bathroom was cramped and odd. The sign defending their toilet paper choice was off putting. Saying they are environmentally conscious is great, explaining toilet paper brand, not so much. To be honest there was nothing overtly wrong with the room, I guess I was just disappointed it wasn't a little nicer for the price. The location is very close to a main road and the layout of the property is confusing with little signage, it gives one the feeling that you have to be in the know to feel comfortable there. I was looking for a serene and relaxing time and I feel they could do more to provide that or come in at a lower price point for what they are offering. I respect that they are aiming high, but they need to live up to that if they aim that high. You can stay at a boutique hotel and get a gourmet cooked to order breakfast for less these days, it's something to take into consideration.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Inn was so charming and welcoming. All the extra little touches in my room made it so comfortable and just a delight to stay in. Breakfast was superb! Bentley was my server and was very attentive and kind. The food was just wonderful. I had the quiche du jour and it was delicious! Next time I stay, which I definitely will, I will have dinner as well. I can't wait to bring my fiancee here! So romantic!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The restaurant and staff were fantastic. Also loved the water pressure in the shower - it’s the little things that count!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were great. Allen was very nice. Jesse, maid, was the best, friendly, nice, cheerful. The breakfast was excellent. My wife found your place on the internet. Bathroom was very nice, but the left side handle kept coming off the handle and the hair dryer holder came off the wall. These very little items did not bother me. I would stay at your place another time because it was so nice, perhaps in the winter to use the room we had with a fireplace. Check in lady on Monday was very nice also. David Peterson PS If you have any room specials in the winter let me know.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent choice of breakfast fare freshly cooked- a real treat.Very comfy bed, steam spa shower, and pleasant gardens to wander in
Cons: Just a little close to a road, but the noise was not intrusive at night
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed at the Auberge Provençale as part of our US Eastern road trip. We enjoyed our stay, the room was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable. We were welcomed at the reception and were toured around the property. Unfortunately, their restaurant was closed that day. We received excellent restaurant recommendations. We bought one of their home-made jams. They have a nice garden area where we stayed to read a book. The breakfast was excellent, we had their amazing omelette.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Dinner was wonderful! The room was very comfortable and charming. It was immaculately clean.

6.8 Good
Pros: Nice old house.
Cons: The house smelled of wood smoke which aggravated my wife’s sore throat. The air conditioning blew cold air on my head all night. The breakfast was nothing special. The shower was disappointing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was exquisite. The room comfy. And the extras such as wine and snacks were a nice tough.

Comfortable and in a beautiful location very quiet and peaceful with abundant bird life and heaps of comfortable seating inside and out to sit and read either your own books or choose from the owners’ great collection. 9.5 Excellent
Pros: The pool, the horses, the staff, the room, the grounds, and Middleburg itself is glorious
Cons: When the hotel is at a certain level of occupancy, it takes a while for the showers to heat up - but that is clutching at straws for a negative comment.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Yes the BED was like a Cloud Staff was super friendly and always asking if there is anything more you need
Cons: That I could have stayed longer my Room with fireplace was Awesome
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I cannot tell you how wonderful your staff really is! They are so attentive, friendly, helpful, and treated us so nicely., The concierge was GREAT!!!! The staff made our stay perfect.
Cons: No big deal - but the light bulbs in the ceiling fixture were burned out. Also you might give information to guests about how to dim or brighten the light in the bathroom. Took us forever to figure it out. After calling down...we found the little place on the fixture to move to brighten the light.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff were incredible!!!! So warm, friendly, and professional! All of the food was superb!
Cons: Housekeeping knocked on door both days at around 8:30 - we should have had our do not disturb sign on but they even did it on our checkout day.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I LOVED everything! The concierge and limo service was surperb. The turn down service with the evening treat was also delightful!
Cons: Absolutely no complaints
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was so well thought out, the rooms were huge and comfortable, the gym was fantastic, and the spa was amazing. Oh, and the food was AMAZING!
Cons: Absolutely nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was fabulous, grounds were beautiful and the staff was awesome!
Cons: I would definitely go back but there were some things that were disappointing about our stay. 1. We ate dinner at the resort restaurant and were hopeful to eat sushi but we were told the sushi chef was on vacation. We of course ordered something else but then service was VERY long to eventually get our food. My friend and I had spa services the next day and a particular product she needed for her wrap they did not have. Also on our last morning for breakfast my friend ordered smoked salmon only to be told that the resort did not have any. So there were just too many examples of the resort not having something when requested which at times left my friends and I disappointed.
7.5 Good
Pros: The landscape with lots of trails
Cons: 1 small family pool lots of kids and noise. To access the adult only pool you have to book a service at the very expensive spa. The decor of rooms and restaurants is outdated- heavy curtains, dark colors, ugly artificial flowers at main restaurant.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous.
Cons: Tried to charge a resort fee even tho pool was closed and we didn’t use anything else. But other than that, it is just abt perfect.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything, the staff are wonderful and helpful and nice, the Christmas decorations were impeccable.
Cons: Leaving....
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Almost everything except the lights. Next time I will bring a real lamp!!
Cons: Just the lighting in the room.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: The Salamander resort provided a wonderful site to reconnect with my family as our daughter was home for spring break. We even brought our pup along and she got the royal treatment -- greeted with a doggy treat, photo op and placement in a patio room with easy access to the walking trails. The resort location was ideal. It's one of the few resorts that's a short drive from our home - so traveling in didn't take away from relaxation time at the spa, on grounds for a trail ride or taking in a swim. The cooking classes were also a great bonding event.
Cons: There were a number of onsite activity promotions offered to those booking through the resort or from independent dealers like Groupon. I wish your online booking would partner up and extend these perks as options when reserving online.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Bed was very comfortable and room met our need for a place to get some sleep! Staff went above and beyond despite experiencing a power outage.
Cons: A place on the room to hang clothes.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Easy access to stores, food or shopping. Staff is super friendly and room was clean and ready to go
Cons: Nothing. Will stay again in future
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Bed was great. Loved the fitted sheets.
Cons: The eggs were fake tasting. The link sausage was cooked well but why the maple flavor? The English muffin was dry as well. My sadness is that the TV was on news. America needs a break as the dining room was filled with different races. We needs to celebrate our differences and not be filled with negativity from the news.
7.0 Good
Pros: The location. The soaps were a great convenience. The tub was nice. The ladies at the front desk were very helpful and super sweet.
Cons: The mattress. It hurt both our backs. It should probably be replaced soon. We did find left over food in the refrigerator.
7.0 Good
Pros: It had vacancies
Cons: The morning breakfast selection was pretty slim. The fruit was pretty good but the rest of the food was fairly sub standard.

6.8 Good
Cons: Wanted earlier check in. When guests request this, can you possibly take their cell # and call them the minute their room is ready? Guests often need to take a nap after a long journey to the hotel location and are willing to pay extra for early check in.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Location...
Cons: A/C on the room was very noisy and I couldn't sleep at night we only had two options to change the room temperature very cold or too hoot...Time to replace A/C unit for a new one and with a better location, please not so close to the bed.
6.8 Good
Cons: the person working the front desk was rude told her about food in front of the building she just seemed as she didn't care came back a few hours later food still there and on a holiday weekend the hot tub not working .we had to call and have towels sent to the room as for it wasn't cleaned.
6.8 Good
Pros: Nice clean room.
Cons: No microwave, you were expected to eat at the generic overpriced restaurant.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was a nice size
Cons: Room had a little bit of a weird smell
6.0 Good
Pros: Just had an overnight stay not much stood out. The beds were comfortable and the room spacious.
Cons: The carpet was stained in several spots and the bathroom could have been cleaner, there were toenails stuck in caulking around the door. The hallways and elevator areas were extremely hot. There was a pungent odor in the hallway.
5.5 Okay
Pros: We have stayed here many times and were very pleased. It’s convenient for us.
Cons: There was a piece of a tampon wrapper and dried blood on the floor. The couch and chair were disgustingly dirty that we had to cover with sheets. We paid for a suite and really ended up using the bedroom for relaxing. Even Though we draped furniture with sheets we didn’t want to sit on it. At least we didn’t have to look at it. I wish I had taken pictures. We won’t be staying there again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful and clean!
Cons: Nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: Room was clean and quiet!
Cons: Issues with both key cards that were given to us upon checkin. They would not open our door when inserted into the card reader. Apparently the one card was programmed for the wrong room (I found this out after standing outside of the room trying to get in for 10 minutes). This was "fixed" by someone at the front desk, but when I returned to my room, I still couldn't get in. I kept swiping until I finally got a green light and was able to get in. This happened each time we left the room. Nothing major, just frustrating after a long day or if your standing there with your hands full.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Bed was great, pool and hot tub good, easy to get to from the highway, near to town. The staff was really helpful and friendly.
Cons: No changing room at the pool. Had to wear my bathing suit to my room to shower. Did not like that.
5.5 Okay
Cons: No continental breakfast very disappointing at that price.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: comfortable beds and pillows, friendly staff, pool/hot tub,
Cons: room was a little small
Goodstone Inn & Restaurant - Middleburg - Building
7
8.6 Excellent (130 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Goodstone Inn & Restaurant in Middleburg, you'll be 8.1 mi (13.1 km) from Chrysalis Vineyards and 8.3 mi (13.3 km) from Aldie Mill Historic Park. Featured amenities include luggage storage and a safe deposit box at the front desk. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.3 Excellent
Cons: The decor in the dining room is not up to the standard of everything else about Goodstone. Particularly the stained glass panels on the windows.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Service, hospitality and food
6.3 Good
Pros: The surrounding area is beautiful. Middleburg is a lovely town. Goodstone have done a good job with adding the conservatory but it does somewhat take away from the cosyness of the place (we last stayed there 10 years ago in the Hayloft room). The breakfast is excellent with a good choice.
Cons: We found a dead mouse in the Dutch cottage living area which the staff removed after quite a long wait and unless it had only just died it had been there for a little while. The floors of the cottage certainly had not been vacuumed recently (allowing for the fact that people were coming and going from outside the floors still would not have been that dirty). The Delphinium room certainly needs a refurb. the bathroom carpet is completely worn out and the drapes are dusty and need replacing (not shabby-chic!) . We had turn-down on New Year's Eve but were forgotten about the next evening. The heating in the Dutch cottage was very spasmodic to say the least and we had to call service on a couple of occasions as it was -2F. Booking.com indicated that we must book for 2 nights over NY eve but upon check-out the staff said that wasn't necessary! On NY Eve we had an excellent dinner but we were seated on the balcony overlooking the main dining room with people walking past the whole time which was annoying and we felt rather 'out of the celebrations'. The sommelier was quite surly.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location was quiet and offered relaxation. We will go back when the weather is warmer to explore the countryside. They also gave us a free room upgrade to a larger suite, which a delightful surprise!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful historic property. Our room was in a cottage that also had a living room and it had a sofa, fireplace, full kitchen - all just really beautiful. Since it was New Year's Eve it also had a decorated tree that was still up. Magical!
Cons: I realize it has record-breaking cold in Virginia, but our room was COLD. The bathroom was so cold we would run in and out as quickly as we could and we didn't even consider showering!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: More than just having a room, there is an entire cottage or house to use while staying here. Very private with gorgeous countryside to look out at. Staff is very friendly and accommodating
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great ambiance and delicious foof
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Overall friendliness of staff was very good. Our dinner was excellent. Great waitstaff for breakfasts.
Cons: Stink bugs
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great place. Loved walking through the fields. Had great cocktails prepared by a true professional, and a wonderful dinner in front of the fire in the solarium area. Special place. Hope to come back.
Cons: Restaurant/bar is a bit pricey, but you do get what you pay for.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had one of the most relaxing getaways here, compared to many other good domestic and international destinations. Location, that is only an hour from DC, made it an excellent escape, while the amazing ambience and sceneries took us hundreds of miles away from the routine. We had a reservation for three bedrooms in one cottage, and received the best of services that are expected from luxury hotels, charm of a quaint inn, and privacy of the entirety of a three bedroom cottage, including two living rooms, kitchen, and two patios. Staff, especially management, are extremely helpful and genial. Thanks to everyone, more than all, Ms. Sara R.

Located in Front Royal, Twi-Lite Motel is within a 5-minute drive of Bing Crosby Stadium and Belle Boyd Cottage. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was very clean. We walked across the street for dinner and a wonderful Mexican Restaurant. The owners were very cordial.
Cons: There were cigarette butts all over outside. Pick them up or put something for the smokers to use to dispose of their cigarette butts.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The Twi-Lite Motel is perfect for my needs in Front Royal. I am on my annual work/relax vacation on a budget. It’s a clean, convenient, low-key, reasonably priced place to sleep and shower while going out to various activities. If I feel like staying in and reading, relaxing, or taking a dip in the pool, it is good for those activities, too. I enjoy “one-of-a-kind” places rather than big national chains. I also like the fact that it’s an older building where I can open a window for fresh air. The personnel are cordial, down-to-earth people who are in residence to meet the needs of their guests.
Cons: Only down point, not the motel management’s fault, is that it is a bit noisy in the early morning from truck traffic, work and delivery trucks up and down shifting on the hill just past the motel. I’m not particularly bothered by it, but some might find it more annoying.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable bed! Room was clean. Location was quiet. Older facility, but don't let that stop you from staying there.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: CLEAN...PRICE RIGHT...PEOPLE CARE ABOUT THEIR BUSINESS...I was very impressed with the cleanness...it is an older moterl but that is charming...pool is VERY VERY CLEAN...nice family place for responsible cost.

8.5 Excellent
Pros: The owner was super nice and accommodating. The room was clean.
Cons: Room is small, but for a quick trip on Skyline Drive on the bike it was perfect.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Older hotel but clean and comfortable. The location was convenient and there are a couple of places to eat within walking distance. I like being able to park right in front of my room.
Cons: Very few electrical outlets in room and most were old 2 prong plugs, Couldn't plug my laptop in anywhere near the table in the room.

7.0 Good
Pros: The owner checked me in and he was wonderful, friendly and nice which is always good after a long day on the road. Rooms are very basic which was fine for our overnight, catch some sleep needs. Shower had alternating warm and cold, again not a problem but not ideal for anyone staying awhile. Good tv and selection of channels, good parking (right in front of your room!) and for us it was an easy location to hit Shenandoah NP first thing in the morning before we headed out for a long drive. I'd stay there again, it was a clean room and we slept well.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The mattress was nice and soft. Like sleeping on a cloud...
Cons: Nothing...

Pros: Actually nothing
Cons: Room floor wasn't clean. No hair drier. Small and thin (low quality) towel and not 100% clean and no shampoo (just soap bar). Room ceiling lamp was broken. Matress cover and pillow cover wasn't clean as I desired. No coffee maker and air conditioning was really noisy.
4.3 Okay
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Our room stunk.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Richard and the cleaning lady were awesome and we had great conversation with them
Cons: The people that live at the hotel are beggers. One guy that has been living there since Jan with his wife keep asking us for our stuff...like cigarettes and what ever we had to drink. He even brought his chair over to our room to sit outside with us. We were there for a mini vacation not to have the locals join us.
6.8 Good
Pros: Inexpensive
Cons: Smoke detector battery needed to be changed and they had none in stock and they didn't change it while I was there. Empty pool was an eyesore.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Not too much but front desk person was very nice.
Cons: Very little hot water Bathroom 1950 vintage Horrible mattresses

Pros: Front staff member who checked me in was delightful!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: very clean, comfortable room. pool. wifi worked well. staff person very friendly and professional.
Cons: i wanted a bottom floor as i am disabled and use a walker. the hotel has a policy of charging 25.00 to change the room downstairs. they are renovating so i guess they are trying to recoup. however i thought this was ridiculous fee. i paid it but gave me a bad taste in my mouth for quality inns.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Poor quality smelly rooms. The worst Quality Inn I ever stayed. Below expectations.
1.0 Poor

Cons: I was happy with everything
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: I didn't like anything about this property. It's a dump.
Cons: Everything. Receptionist was abusive. Due to severe mobility issues I asked for a downstairs room. The property was almost empty. Receptionist said we could have one but that would be USD 25 per night. As it was already overpriced we couldn't afford the extra. I tried to explain that in an emergency I would not be able to evacuate quickly. He told me USD 25 or he would not give us a downstairs room. The Reception is Only part of the property which is clean. Cigarette butts everywhere. Rooms dirty. Paint peeling in bathroom and the door and surround was dirty. This property us not in keeping with Quality Inn brand. Pool needs refurbishing. Breakfast was ok for choice, but bacon dripping with grease.
6.0 Good
Pros: It was an average room. Included continental breakfast. Room was pet friendly. I thought it was pricey for what you get.
3.0 Mediocre
Cons: The front desk person is extremely rude and argumentative. Ridiculous that they place a 100.00 hold on on --- night room.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, enabling a quick walk into town/main St. . Fridge and microwave in rooms.
Cons: Limited choice for breakfast, but found it very shocking that everything in hotel was single use and non recycleable. All cups/beakers in rooms were plastic/polystyrene, individually wrapped in plastic bags. Everything in breakfast from plates, cups, cutlery were thrown away. This was really disappointing to see, but very easy to sort out.

Shame on you booking.com

7.5 Good
Pros: convenient location convenient parking great price for a one night stay
Cons: I couldn't get the gadget to do anything to the A/C heating. I pushed all the buttons on the gadget and on the wall unit, and nothing lit up. Fortunately, the weather was warm enough and cool enough. The toilet flushed, but it gave the impression that it might run over.
3.8 Mediocre
Cons: The room door did not close properly and the bathroom door got stuck more then once. The bathroom mirror is too high, could not see to brush hair or teeth.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: I made reservations almost a week in advance. When we arrived about 9:30 pm Friday 5/24, we were rudely informed by someone sitting outside that there were full and was very rude about it. When I tried to show him my confirmation number, he blew us off. I would not stay there for free if offered

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Price was a good amount
Cons: It was comfortable and clean.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Had a fridge and microwave
Cons: Tobacco smell was harsh. I even sprayed the carpets, curtains, chair and bedding with febreeze and used a room fragrance pod thingy. That temporarily took the smell away but by the time we awoke in the morning it was back full force and we all smelled of it. All our clothes did and our hair. Pillows were very thin and only one each. Some kind of bug in the bathroom in the morning. Big enough to send us on our way pretty sharpish. It advertises HBO, but in actuality you can’t get it unless you already subscribe to it at home. The WiFi is erratic and unstable - continually having to refresh connection. Ok. It’s very low price, you can’t expect luxurious comfort but this didn’t meet a minimum.
5.8 Okay
Pros: It was quant and cozy
Cons: The staff
