The owners are extremly kind. The pool and the nice resturant/ bar with the seaview is very well placed. If you want to stay at the northern part of madeira, this is the perfect relaxing place sorrounded by beautifull green mountains.
We arrived quite late but the staff was waiting for us. The village is much nicer than the guidebooks said and is a great base for visiting the North Coast of the island. The rooms were spotless and spacious, and the overall feel of the place was most comfortable even with young children. A great home away from home!
It is in a lovely location - quiet and peaceful with super views to the sea, perfect for a relaxing break. We stayed two nights though we could have happily stayed longer!
Very nice appartment. Livingroom and sleepingroom
Good and quiet location. Nice rooms. Evening meals à la carte (try the local fish). Friendly staff. Nice uphill trail starting 50m down the street. No breakfast service. Sofa bed (in the living room) smelled stale.
This is three star hotel !!!! Not for star hotel !
Very friendly and nice. Apartment is really very big and offers all what is required. We enjoyed very much Smell of dampness from kithenette. Once cockroach detected. Probably issues of specific apartment. Car is a must.
The restaurant was very good.
We were traveling around Madeira
Casa da Capelinha is a lovely, new, small complex in an beautiful location overlooking the sea. The owners are friendly and helpful, the apartment and the grounds are well kept. The apartments in the newer section are bright and overlook the ocean.
Peaceful, great views, very amenable and accommodating friendly owner, ample continental-style breakfast bar with gorgeous home made cakes and jams, the pool, overall ambience, free internet and self-service (trust) bar. though we have firm orthopaedic mattress at home these were very firm - and we would have preferred a double bed. some noise from adjoining rooms at night.
Cleanliness, decor, relaxed quiet atmosphere, pleasant discreet owner. Access was a little difficult - steep and initially narrow lane requires care.
The facilities were good, and we were very comfortable there. Most staff were at least very pleasant and levels of English speaking were helpful. We wished our room had had tea and coffee making facilities. Also the mountain setting was lovely, but it was often much cooler than on the other side of the island (Funchal).
Everything very good, good value for money, good and comfortable rooms. It is a bit of a shame that for breakfast they provide with canned fruit instead of fresh fruit - particulary in an island like Madeira!!!
This is a great place to stay for those who can tear themselves away from the mecca that is Funchal and wish to spend time in the quieter and, in my opinion, more picturesque north side of the island. The hotel is flawless. The rooms are great, the staff excellent, and breakfast and evening meals highly recommended. The only thing I would say about staying here is that you really do need a hire car, or at the very least, access to taxis or guided tours to make the most of your stay.
quiet setting/location heated pool was very cold
Friendly English speaking staff. Very good restaurant. There was neither a table nor a chair in the room. The bed was more for one man than for a couple.
Facilities for children, excellent rooms and suite, good restaurant. Rooms were not ready at arrival (13.00)
Just about everything.
The quiet location - waking up to dogs across the valley and the chickens next door !
Lovely room (superior double) with an amazing 6' bed and nice balcony. We were told that we couldn't order a sandwich at 3.15pm as the restaurant was closed. Would have been nice to enjoy our A La Carte meal away from the buffet area. Note no Tea/Coffee facitlities in room, although was a fridge.
The comfort and the quiet location of the hotel made it a peaceful weekend retreat - What we were looking for... The lack of TV channels were a little disappointing when compared to the rest of what the hotel has to offer...
Nice historic building, wonderful garden, large communal space, nice oldfashioned forniture in the room. The restaurant does not display prices. The design of the bathroom could be improved. Breakfast is quite poor.
The setting and the layout was wonderful- so was the food cooked for us in the evening the breakfasts could have been a little more varied
We were able to do 2 good walks/lavadas from the hotel No
This is one of the best hotels we've stayed during so many trips. Spacious room, extremely clean, friendly staff and dilicious food. Highly recommended!!! None !!!
Very quite in February - guess we were the only guests, but the service was fine. We had a good meal in the restaurant - only place to eat in Boaventura. Rooms were nice and clean and the Hotel had charm. No tv set in the room, but there was one in a living room
As it is remote, we played pool and had a few drinks in the bar.
The building and its immediate surroundings. Helpful staff when needing internet access to check air flight situation. Food disappointing.
The peace and quiet, and to see village life in Madeira. Good local walks far from the madding crowd. Very comfortable hotel for reading with many well lit lounge areas. Lovely small garden with amusing crazy golf. Very friendly and helpful staff. Less than an hour's drive from the airport. A beautifully appointed hotel, very comfortable and relaxed but a little bit let down by its dimly lit restaurant with its limited menu.
Very friendly staff. Nice food. very quiet.
Dinner was very good. The meat and fish were very good. We were suprised by the nice vegetables, which is quite exeptional in restaurants. The rooms did not have TV: we considered that absolutely super! (having all the times in mind being kept awake due to the TV noise from other rooms). The rooms provided a lot of space. The room had a view over the village, including a large window in front of the bathroom...which didn't have curtains. Although the staff assured us "it was not a problem", we didn't feel comfotable going to the toilet and in the shower in front of the village (especially not in the evening when the light had to be turned on).
the hotel has now started 'all inclusive' and the food is typical of 'all inclusive' which is not very good. The standard of food used to be good at this hotel -it's a shame they have resorted to 'all inclusive'. Also there were a lot of children staying in the hotel who were tottaly bored as this hotel do not cater for children.
Perfect staff and atmosphere at the hotel.
friendliness and efficiency of reception staff. Ease of parking facilities this time. Have stayed here before bathroom in need of refurbishment. mouldy grouting and mirror
Receptionists very helpfull especially the blond lady. All staff generally nice.Rooms good size with a beautifull view of the sea.Dinner and breakfast good, location great.
excellent staff good location for a peacefull break
Situation near the sea was splendid. Rooms were a little humid (the weather was wet) and the water in swimming pool was a little cool.
We had a lovely time at this hotel, a lovely spacious room with veiws out to sea.Near a very plaesant little town with some very nice restaraunts nearby.Indoor swimmimng pool and outside, jaquissi, and sauna all included. Was a little out dated with the decor, but i think the good price reflected this so not a problem for us ,good value for money.
Beautiful location with wonderful coastal views. Friendly, staff and exceptional value for money Rooms, while clean and well decorated are getting a little "tired" and need a refurb
Smart and constant noise of ocean Successful site The affable personnel Old, but pure hotel For a breakfast one and too every day There was no fruit in the summer Pillows awful From a balcony it is visible nothing, when you sit on a balcony
Good hotel with pool and everything what is needed. Nice see view with rock wll behind hotel. Near to the top of mountains and turistick walks. Opening hours of pool till 9 pm are limiting.
