Visited this hotel in Winter and the heat was not controllable in the rooms as the regular heating system was malfunctioning requiring heat to be pumped through the central AC. The result - some very high temperatures and major discomfort in the rooms. The staff was great and very apologetic and the rooms were otherwise very clean. It would've been nice to receive a discount of some kind (not sure if it was already baked into the price online) to account for the heating issue. Overall, the location, staff, and cleanliness of the hotel balanced out the heating issue.
Great place and walking distance to museum
The location It was way too expensive for what the hotel offered. The only rooms left were ones listed as "lake view" which means a 4'x10' concrete area facing a cove with two lawn chairs. You can hear the people who dock their boat there at night and the morning. It's a fairly decent motel room that is priced at least twice as much as you would pay anywhere else. With taxes and fees the two nights cost about $600, quite a surprise for upstate NY. Only choose here if it's one of the last places available, which we did.
My trip was just an overnight stay - with my 22 year old son. I chose this venue because of its location to the Baseball Hall of Fame Museum. It did not disappoint - it was within a few blocks walking distance. Our room was right on the lake - very nice setting, as was the dining area outside the hotel restaurant. Complimentary breakfast, and boat tour on the lake was included. Very clean, but smallish (queen size) room. Free parking was nice (not much parking in Cooperstown). I would definitely stay again.
Beautiful lakeside, downtown location.
Wonderful staff, perfect location Rooms a bit too cozy but not terrible
The hotel is right on Lake Otsego and it is a beautiful setting. The entire facility is updated and very clean. The proximity to town and other local attractions is very convenient. The room was a litlle cramped. There was an exhaust fan in the bathroom that sounded like a jet engine. It didn't have a seperate switch so it went on every time you turned the light on. VERY annoying. Be aware there are NO cancellations. We were going to leave one night early to visit old friends we hadn't seen in 30 years, and they would not refund the one night. The woman at the front desk was not very personable, however the other staff members we met were all friendly.
The location is ideal - less than two blocks from the Hall of Fame - and it is right on the edge of the lake. It was dark, uncomfortable, the bathroom fan sounded like an air raid warning, the walls were bare, and the sofa rock hard. At $150 a night this might have been okay - at $300 pretty much unacceptable.
The location was ideal. They claimed to have free wi-fi and breakfast, but there were neither. The rooms were decently clean, but I found some dirty socks on the floor and a hole in the wall when I arrived. Shower didn't drain properly. It was way too expensive for what I received. And there were only double beds, no queen beds!
They had rooms available less than $200/night. Outside of town, small beds, no breakfast, wifi was totally unusable, way too much money for what you got.
We had a medical appointment in Cooperstown. The Red Carpet Hotel was very convenient and more reasonable than others of equal quality. We will use your hotel again.
An older property, but well maintained with a very polite, helpful staff. Small room, but adequate for a short stay and the bed was very comfortable. If you are a light sleeper, make sure your is away from the train tracks.
The deluxe rooms are huge! The staff was always smiling and friendly even when not engaged with a guest. The hotel was nicely updated and very clean. The breakfast selection could have been better.
My students loved it, and myself as well. Breakfast was good, and rooms were excellent and luxurious under affordable prices.
Reasonably close to Cooperstown village and Dreams Park baseball fields. Across the street from fishing docks and swimming in the lake. Very reasonable prices during peak season. Strong AC window unit. Nice staff. Musty smelling room due to lack of bathroom ventilation so all of the humidity is stuck in the room. Old tube style TV (some rooms have flat LCDs). Beds are terrible....lumpy, squeaky and old. Wifi was very sporadic and slow. Parking can be tight for certain units next to the entrance.
The heat worked and was controlled from the room. The cheapest possible option. Room wasn't clean. No food or coffee in the morning. Lots of ways for bugs to get into the room.
The Hotel was reasonably close to the Glimmerglass Festival. The condition of the room was pretty poor. The room smelled absoluitely awful; we bought an air freshener to try reduce the odor. The shower doors were impossible to move without coming off the track. The cold water line wasn't connected to the sink.
Location The bullet hole in the window was different. It needs updates.
Nothing Most disgusting room I have ever been in. The bathrooms were filthy with hair in the shower and on floors, no soap or cups, room was not vacuumed with garbage under the bed. I don't believe the sheets were changed. There was no continental breakfast.
