Cons. Bedding was dirty upon check in, no free water in room, toiletries were not replenished. Check in was quick and they accommodated is early which was nice.
Cons. This used to be the place to be - via Veneto, Harry's Bar, a beautiful tree-lined windy boulevard in the heart of Rome. A recent overnight at the Excelsior which is in the Westin group was very disappointing. Sadly, our "upgraded" room facing via Veneto was in disrepair, the carpet was soiled and stained, doorknobs loose or broken, paint chipping and wallpaper peeling. Staff were fairly friendly but as I have stayed in many hotels in Rome, this group did not compare. Hefty nightly charge not worth the money. We only enjoyed the high ceilings and 18th-century architecture.
Pros. We have stayed at this hotel numerous times over the years and have loved it. The building is beautiful and the lobby/main area are spectacular.
Cons. The hotel was full with a conference of some sort. The gentleman that checked us in couldn’t care about us. We’ve loved this hotel in the past but I think this was our last visit there. The room was mediocre, the staff was mediocre, I was very disappointed.
Pros. The staff were incredibly lovely and helpful. The location was terrific in relation to many sights. Can walk to Spanish Steps & many others. Hotel is clean, beautiful & basically comfortable.
Cons. I visited in December and with the heat turned up to high I wasn't able to get the room warm enough. That is my only complaint.
