The food was excellent and the staff extremely helpful and friendly. Someone was always on hand to answer the most basic of questions
The room was clean and warm. All facilities where clean and in excellent working order. Position of hotel excellent. Ample parking None
Amazing food - top class! Staff were excellent and very friendly. Hotel in a very isolated spot right on the beach front. Would defo go back. No shops, plenty of relaxation, nothing to do, no amusements or commercialisation! Great place to stay. Be prepared that the last bus back in the Winter leaves St Helier at 18.45hrs.....
Excellent views, great location & quiet hotel. No welcome, ignored in the bar and restaurant, towels not changed, window cleaners working at 8am on Sunday morning, were not given an opportunity to address issues even when paying the bill.
Beautiful location with rooms and restaurant overlooking beach and sea. Bus service (hourly through day and two hourly in evenings during summer) was very reliable so didn't need a car. Lovely cliff top walks from hotel. Good quality bed and linen. Restaurant very good with plenty of choice for breakfast and good range of tasty, well presented dishes lunchtimes and evenings. No dining options in the village on Sunday evenings.
I chose this hotel mainly because of its location, which is superb.
The location was brilliant and the staff were very helpful and freindly food was excellent. Food freindly staff and location of hotel.
Lovely surroundings, excellent food and extremely helpful, polite and efficient staff. Everyone we met went out of their way to make our stay a pleasure. No decent beer !!!
Nice location, friendly staff, nice atmosphere Nothing
First impression of the hotel and grounds was good. Staff were very polite and attentive. All food was excellent and freshly cooked and table service was spot on. N/A
The dining room and bar staff were extremely pleasant and professional. The restaurant was fully booked for lunch on sunday to the exclusion of guests.
The friendly, attentive staff and the excellent cuisine and, of course, the location
Staff were very helpful and polite at all times.
Staff and guests where very friendly, Manager made us very welcome
All the basic requirements were well met, our room was comfortable and the staff worked hard to be efficient and friendly. The hotel was clean and well maintained. Food was good value for money, but in the guesthouse style of English cooking (white bread, tinned/frozen ingredients), and they tried to accommodate vegetarian. Food choices were limited and menus did not reflect the overall quality of fresh food available on Jersey.
Everything, it was absolutely spot on. The owner takes great pride in his establishment and it shows Nothing at all
Very quiet location. Good quality food. Ideal for those who want to be away from the crowds. Evening entertainment rather limited.
The staff were very friendly and made you feel welcome without being too over bearing There was perhaps insufficent parking, but the hotel manager was on hand to deal with any problems
The hoel staff were extremely friendly and always willing to help - they appeared to really enjoy their emplyment. Everything was fine - one of the best htoel stays I've had for a long while
All staff were very helpful during our stay and very accommodating. The food was very good. Room very comfortable with very good facilities. Not having a sea view!
good parking, friendly staff,
The staff at the Grand Jersey were exceptional. Throughout our stay I can say we did not have one complaint during our week. Everything was perfect from the moment we arrived until the time that we left. The food was lovely, breakfast service was wonderful and room service was a real treat! The Spa was fully booked quite often and it was very difficult to book treatments, however this is merely because the Spa is very good and it only reminded us to book in advance next time!
Good central position, even with alterations taking place the hotel did very well to not let this effect our experience and enjoyment. i felt the staff serving on the were not aware of who was being attended to, a lot of people were trrying to get their attention , myself having to wait over 10minutes to place food orders and drinks.
Good central location in st.Hellier Modernisation has not yet been completed
The sea view room was well worth the extra money. Good food and attentive service. The loud music in the bar where we were going to eat but decided against this. And went out instead.
I enjoyed using the spa facilities, and the food was excellent.
The leisure facilities
The bathroom was stunning.
kindness and helpfulness of staff
Well run hotel that enabled us to have a relaxed break in Jersey
Staff were helpful, but communication could be difficult as English was not their first language.
very easy & central for exploring island. room we had was very cold in the evening, heating in room failed.
The convenience of being near to St Helier and also a good setting off point to other parts of the island.
Staff were excellent - nothing was too much trouble
Lovely hotel, pleasant staff, excellent rooms, food superb in the Montana Restaurant, nice cosy lounge and bar
Friendliness of staff
The bar area and breakfast were very good with the staff very helpful and the bonus of friday jazz night. The noise from the saturday night party [wedding] in our room was very annoying.
The breakfast was very good. The Hotel room was very very tired and old.
all the staff were polite and nothing was too much trouble. the food was excellent. the standard room we had was 1st class. well done it would have been nice to have had a nice draft hand pull beer as an option in the bar.
Lovely room, great ocean view, freindly staff at spa, good bar area, Very average breakfast, staff on reception and in dining room not very freindly or helpful, waiting room for spa area felt like a dentist's surgery, treatment rooms very claustrophobic
Excellent food, well served. The heating/air conditioning system, which was difficult to control, leading to disturbed sleep.
The view overlooking the harbour and the buffet breakfast. The sauna and steam room were an added welcome after a days' walking The smell of fish in the evening as you enter the lobby. This was every evening and not very pleasant
Staff extremely helful Didn't like having to wait to be seated for breakfast, especially out of season
The view of the harbour was excellent both from our room and the bar area. The scrambled egg on the breakfast buffet looked as if it was composed of chopped up boiled eggs from the previous day.
The location was perfect, the cleaniless was excellent. The breakfast was first class with plenty of choice. My partner and I would gladly visit again. We liked it all!!
I liked the location (being close to both the harbour, st. helier and the bus station). I wouldn't really recommend it for a long stay with children, as the pool was quite small and not really aimed at children. The Merton Hotel is where we usually stay (when travelling with the children) and that is fantastic for them. However, for adults only the Radisson and The Royal Yacht are both fantastic for a stay in Jersey. The rooms are excellent and beds very comfortable, staff very friendly and helpful too. The mini bar only had two bottles of water in it. That's about it really!
Nice quiet and relaxing hotel where you could chillout
The hotel is located in an excellent central position with very helpful and friendly staff. The city certre is a walk away as is the ferry port. We had a wonderful stay.
A building of character well maintained Not the comfiest bed
my wife and i enjoyed are stay at the hotel, very nice clean comfortable and the staff very friendly and helpful. i read a couple of reviews about the hotel before booking and they seemed a bit disappointed with the hotel but personally we did enjoy are stay and would definitely come back.
Friendly TV Reception
the spa and pool facilities. the quality of the buffet
very friendly staff, they made me feel very welcome. I had a single room and i have never had such a small room for the money. i plan to look at alternative hotels for my next visit.
breakfast was brill and the reception staff were very helpful trying to get me to were i wanted I thought the food at night time was a bit exspensive
Friendly, helpful staff and good, comfortable facilities. I would have liked an easy chair / setee in my room.
Very friendly staff. Good customer service. High standard accomodation.
The spa Restaurants rather expensive
Friendlyness and very helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble to make our stay comfortable Had to ask for the items mentioned in welcome pack as were not ready in accomadtion, eg , hair dryer, phone . Also towels were very worn out eg large holes in one or two and frayed
Large comfortable bed, clean bedroom and public areas, fried breakfast was well cooked and presented. Staff not proffessionally dressed some building leaks were clearly evident when rained. Cold buffete choice limited, Bathroom and some internal ares dated.
it was very good value for money at £29.00 B&B for a double room, however at that price it is a gamble, breakfast was fine, but not a gormet exprience, poached eggs cooked well and the hot breakfast was cooked to "order" - not under arc lights The shower was tempremental, either a faulty regulator or distantance from the boiler, hot water always came, eventually... First time took 5 mins, In asking for another room then I learnt half the hotel has been refurbished and half hasnt, we rejected the other two rooms offered (stained filthy carpets as opposed to wood laminate flooring) and perservered with the shower
Hotel was good for bed and breakfast, rooms clean and a good bar. Only problem was the lack of packing space,
Clean room and comfortable beds Good and varied breakfast and quick service Having just returned home I discovered that I had left a valuable ring in my room, after inquiring about it, I have received a call to say it has been found and will be sent on. I am delighted! Small rooms Lots of little stairs, a bit of a warren
All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and airy with comfy beds and the breakfast was excellent with a good choice. The swimming pool and jacuzzi were a real treat and great to relax in- we had them completely to ourselves! The hotel is just across the road from the beach and is about a mile from the centre of St Helier. On the evening we stayed in, the hotel bar lacked atmosphere with football on the television and the bar food was very basic (the fresh beer battered fish had obviously been frozen), however we did visit out of season and the restaurant was closed.
It was a one night stay for business. Ideal. The car alarm that went of at 0300 and kept going off!!
The common areas, cuisine and location. The shower was inadequate, the bath took ages to fill and there was no mirror suitable for short-sighted people.
Very helpful staff and the location was excellent small room and bathroom
Very pleasant and efficient staff, on arrival, excellent room very clean and spacious, food was excellent again served by pleasant and efficent staff. Kept awake most of the night by party goers outside, two sets of double glazing did nothing the dull the noise and we were on the fifth floor.
Location of hotel is good. Choice of restaurants and food.
It has a great sense of history, individual style, attention to detail, and the guests comfort comes first.
Just what i have said here. Clean, high quality and very friendly. Our company uses it all the time and I can see why.
The comfort of the room and high quality of food presented at breakfast and evening buffets
Staff everywhere in the hotel were better than first class. Reception was fast and helpful when needed. Patrick in the bar was low key but effective, efficient, with a great timing for the next round. Finally, serving staff for breakfast could not have been better. Narrow bath and a light-weight shower curtain means that anyone taking a shower finds themselves trying to hold the shower curtain at a distance and work the shampoo with one hand. Rust points at the top of the bath safety bar made it look fragile. Room 305 is rather tiny to be classed as "Executive". In Europe it would be an ordinary room at around 90 Euros per night (but without the Pomme d'Or top-class breakfast).
the staff was extremely friendly and the rooms clean and comfortable booking a spa hotel i expect to be able to use the spa, but this is only open to guests 8-10am during breakfast and 6-8pm when you would like to get ready to eat. unless you book a treatment then you can use through the day. could not eat in the hotel at all restaurants was either closed or booked , but no advice on booking the hotel to make sure this is booked prior to arrivals
There was a very friendly and tranquil atmosphere. Most relaxing
Attention to customer needs
Our room was clean and well equipped and inviting to return to after a busy day. The situation of the hotel was perfect for our requirements ie closeness to shops yet very peaceful in rooms. Staff very helpful and obliging. Didn't like restricted times for using pool, not that we used it but we might have done if we could have used it at any time - if we had booked a spa treatment, we could have used it any time on that day.
The Food, The Honesty Bar the Staff..all good
the fact you were made to feel so elcome and nothing was too much trouble but with out being hassled.
All staff on reception were more than helpfull didn't like the view out of our window
Very good hotel, service and staff great and in a good location.
freebies + use of spa, excellent hotel facilities everything was great
The spa was wonderful. The manager has a somewhat snotty attitude when checking out. I was asked twice if I had taken anything from the fridge.
Staff were friendly and helpful Single room was very small and I had to change to a double
The hotel was in a good location, the breakfast was very good, the staff freindly, The room could have been cleaner
Excellent priced package Room a little dated and in need of refurbishment - pink bathroom suite!
Very accommodating staff with indoor swimming pool
excellent value for money breakfast was very good had everything you needed, was hot and presented very well the sauna had been closed and i stayed at the apollo last year and was not informed of this change but only a miner hitch didnt spoil my stay
Breakfasts were very good No atmoshere in dining room for evening meal, and compared to breakfast , dinner was very poor
big bed in single room and swimming pools
the rooms need updating and revamping
Ideal for our trip which was to attend a ruby game and my first visit to Jersey.
Efficiency and helpfulness of the staff, indoor pool and jacuzzi, set menu for evening meal was value for money and well presented. On departure the room across from ours was being cleaned, we were surprised at how big this room was compared to ours
THe staff wre extremely welcoming, hotel had a real presence about it with a great selection of bars and restaurants
very comfortable bed and good breakfast close to opera house for concert.
The staff were exceptional. Friendly, Helpful, always at hand to help with any ideas of how best to enjoy your stay. In comparision to other establistments in the imediate area the menu in the Zephur bar was not great and not good value, which put us off eating in any of the other bar/resturaunt in the hotel.
Accessability. helpfulness of reception staff and porters. Cheerfulness of restaurant staff especially when under pressure. Accommodation charges particularly those applying to premier rooms are on the high side.
Staff approach to customers fantastic, customer service very high nothing too much bother. Its nice to see staff smile.
Staff was excellent at all levels. Noise from karioke pub in square for room with harbour view.
Staff extremely accomodating. Room very comforterable. Location excellent. Food and dining and facilitiites good. Quick response to any of our needs.
the staff are all very friendly not baby friendly
food was very good need much better coffee in the rooms, forget fair trade try quality
The views from the hotel are spectacular and close to restaurants
The total efficiency of the staff
A warm welcome....and comfort in all areas of the hotel. A great location and would certainly return.
Service was generally good Breakfast service was erratic, depending on where we sat. Some tables seem to fall in 'no-man's land' between teams of waiters. Breakfasts get left under the warming lamps, rather than delivered to the table.
The Hotel is stunning, and has views across the bay, the food was first class and silver service to match, but be aware that there is a steep hill up to the hotel from the harbour and limited parking available in the town, the hotel does have ample parking and on a wet day the staff even appeared in the car-park with umbrellas, I would strongly recommend this hotel.
Staff were wonderful. Food was also very good. Lovely stay.
The dinners were excellent, the staff very helpful and the sitting rooms welcoming. However, the above reference to offensive language is itself, offensive. The absence of a service charge - I find the request for gratuities rather embarrassing.
excellent location, very friendly and helpful staff and very good menu.
Everything about our stay at the Somerville Hotel was very nice and we thoroughly recommend the hotel.
The hotel was perfectly situated to explore the island and the staff were very helpful in making sure what they could offer was their best. My room was situated at the back of the hotel which was noisey and could be a negative to other guests
Staff were fantastic - courteous and nothing was too much trouble. Even got a room upgrade without asking! Room was fantastic - didn't want to leave it!!! Food was great too. Shame I was there for business but would definitely recommend to anybody who'd like a romantic/relaxing getaway! Will definitely return!!! Cost if you book directly seemed much higher than booking via this website.
The service. The staff was realy willing to help They should be able to speak more fluent english
- Quality to bedroom and bathroom - Little things like our name on the brochure when we arrived, the bottles of champagne and water waiting for us, the attention to details! One of the best experience I had in a hotel of this category. The battery of the remote control was dead.
Rooms tidy well appointed and clean
Spacious rooms, gourmet food, gardens, pool and unobtrusive staff
The food and service was exceptional. very relaxing and restfull Would have liked coffee and tea making in rooms did not have a shower only a bath
The staff made you feel very welcome and catered for all your needs. The food was excellent even for vegetarians! Our Dogs were treated as guests which is a nice change!
The politeness of all the staff members.
Toured the island of Jersey.
Excellent service wonderful swimming pool and great tennis court.
We stayed in a Superior Ocean View Room - fabulous views directly over St Brelades Bay from the big bed and also the good sized balcony. Staff were very friendly, attentive (but not overly so) and helpful and really tried hard to make your stay enjoyable. Both the bedroom and the bathroom were well appointed. The only thing I would change would be the force of the water coming out of the shower - everything else was perfect.
Staff were helpfull. great beach location yet still well conected to the City center Spa is very basic. For a Hotel named 'L'horizon Hotel & Spa' we expected much more from the spa than we really found.
clean friendly v. relaxing
It was a great location. Some of the staff were not that great at customer service. Eg, when ording drinks and food etc.
Lovely room overlooking a beautiful bay. Excellent food and service.
Good facitlities in an excellent location Th pillows were rather hard but were changed for softer ones when requested
The location overlooking the beach was excellent. We felt the comfort and ambience were good. Nothing. Only there for one night and no problems
Exxtremely friendly, fantastic views over the bay - even from the swimming pool and jacuzzi. Had a very "comfortable" feel. Like the fridge and free bottled water and the turndown service when tea and coffee was also replenished. Cost of drinks was quite high in bar/restaurant
The view from the room was fantastic, the staff were very helpful and very professional. We had a fantastic meal - totally wonderful, it definately deserves its double rosette rating. We would definately stay there again ! No.
The staff were most helpful and were always willing to assist us. I particularly liked the health suite as it was always open and never too busy. Most relaxing. Nothing to add here.
Excellent room with good facilities Friendly reception staff
Excellent food, friendly efficient staff, very clean rooms Nothing comes to mind
Lovely hotel, friendly and very helpful staff, free lift to and from the airport Low pressure on shower
Welcoming and friendly staff throughout, dealt with problems speedily. Good swimingpool and attractive building. Unfortunately, the heating of the swiming pool was switched off half way through our stay - ie before end of September. Shower in the bathroom was poor - several outlets seemed blocked. Also shower gels not replaced when empty - had to request replacements. Only 4 TV channels and no radio in room.
Nice and quiet, nice staff, super location. It's a pity about the TV reception though None
Very helpful staff...very comfortable and relaxing atmosphere
Quiet relaxed atmosphere Some areas of the hotel are in need of updating
The room was lovely, the hotel staff were polite and welcoming, and breakfast was very delicious. Everything was just excellent!
Over priced for the quality of hotel.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts very very nice. Location perfect. Wireless connection very good. All very welcoming Room 35 - bed nearest window very soft - too soft, needs replacing. Towel rail heater not working, otherwise room fine.
Quality of food was very good if lacking in variety. Position is excellent. Rooms were old fashioned and needing refurbishment.
Complimentary afternoon Tea
Good location easy access to transport stunning views excellent food, peaceful relaxing surroundings.
there is nothing not to like about the hotel.added bonus we were upgraded to a sea view room only prices of evening dinner
Friendly efficient staff - although the hotel was due to close for the season on the last day we were there there was no apparent diminution in service/facilities.
We received an upgrade to the best suite in the hotel! All the staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was great and the facilities superb.
The breakfast and view from the bedroon The lounge decor and slightly faded bedroom
The location of the hotel was fantastic all the staff were very helpful and pleasant at all times. Could not find any
The service and situation, lovely flowers and pools for children
The position of the hotel and the view of the sea from our bedroom. The general appearance of the hotel and the good service from reception. The road between the hotel and the sea which wasn't described on the website. The fact that at breakfast on both days of our stay we were given a table close to the kitchen because we hadn't had dinner in the restaurant on either of the two evenings of our stay,
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall the hotel was very quiet.
Location. Lack of air conditioning, poor sound proofing, hotel has seen it's best years, breakfast was modest at best, parking places were small and almost always occupied.
the facilities and the location were excellent...and value for money Breakfast service was very poor; asked on 2 days to share table with other guests - whilst there were plenty of clean tables available; no courtesy in asking us or the couple we were to share with...annoyed us quite a lot when the head waiter would not even listen..should have complained and would have done if staying more than 3 days. He actually spoilt the start to the day.
the atmosphere was one of welcome, and although I am single I liked the fact that it was very much family orentated. the staff could not do enough for you.
I thought the reception staff were helpful and the hotel has just recently been decorated and is now very modern. The cocktail bar prices were the same as the local pubs and i was expecting it to be more. We did not get a chance to visit the pool but from what we saw it is a shame we didn't make the time. The location was excellent and near all the shops, beaches and pubs. I could not fault the housekeeping they were great. Apart from the breakfast it should be a 3 star not a 2 star. The breakfast was terrible. We were given one sausage, one slice of bacon, fried egg, some mushrooms and a tomatoe. Not enough for me but maybe for a 5 year old. The service was slow for it not being busy as it had just opened its doors at 8 am, we were finaly seen to after 15 minutes. It will not stop me from advising friends and family to visit the Mayfair.
Freedom and security of no crime and it location Breakfast: no choice for vegeterian, tea cold, no brown bread orange juice watered down.
The accommodation was clean and very comfortable staff were friendly staff in dining room were very efficient
Pleasant surroundings, convenient for exploring the area and within walking distance of centre of town.
Food excellent Beds - springs on bed were so warn I could feel every spring, and was only a 4ft 6 in bed (partner over 6 ft., so the bed too small). Had to sleep on the floor the first night because of the bed springs. When complained they moved us to another room. Rooms very dated, and tired, and overheated without air conditioning were stifling.
