The cleaning staff/cooks were very nice. I prefer the bed and breakfasts because I can usually meet interesting people and feel like I am 'at grandma's house'. This B&B was a little disappointing in there is no living/lounge area to congregate. The linens and beds are not nice. I think this B&B has potential with the riverwalk extending to it now. I do believe it needs a living room/gathering room. And very importantly the beds and linens need upgrading. I like most travelers to a B&B expect fluffy, cozy, high quality bedding. There is also no one on staff during the night time hours. You are left to your own devices. And your choice in the winter at least is to sit on a hard chair in the dining hall or on your bed in your room. I did not have an appreciation for this B&B as a single traveler. Everything was wonderful. The room was amazing and the bed was so comfy. We loved the breakfast. The staff was great to us. Very close to the Alamo 6 min driving. The Rooms were so beautiful , the antique furniture and the way everything was put together. Makes you feel like you were back in time but with great AC. My husband and I stayed there for our honeymoon. I was super impressed with the cleanliness and how beautifully decorated the place was. We stayed in the Desert Blossom Suite. Our room was very nice and comfortable, all of the rooms were beautiful. The King William District was beautiful and peaceful, we felt very safe walking around at night and there were others out strolling, walking their dogs and riding bikes. The Riverwalk and Alamo were only a short walking distance, as well as some excellent restaurants (must eat at Tito's). The breakfasts at the b&b were AMAZING and delicious. John and Susan were very friendly and helpful with attraction and restaurant recommendations. The housekeeper was very nice as well. My favorite part of the honeymoon was swinging on the porch in the evenings. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend The Gardenia Inn B & B to everyone, we can't wait to go back to this wonderful place.

I wanted to be near downtown without having to stay at a large hotel. The Gardenia is in a gorgeous neighborhood, walking distance from the center of the city. I got a real feeling for 'old San Antonio' with its regal architecture. Breakfast was luscious.
