The room was really nice
Reception wasn't friendly Very poor shower, almost no running water
Location is good . Front desk staff are rude and unhelpful. I stayed once before but I'd forgotten how rude she was. If I would have remembered I would have never returned .
free parking and free internet Very late breakfaste. 7.30 AM, I am on the road at this time
good location worn and used building, quite noisy inside, breakfast not really good
There was free parking, the hotel was near the places and restaurants we wanted to go to, it was also close to a gas station and a 7 Eleven. There was a free breakfast included in the price saving us time and money. The building has an elevator. The beds were very high and there were no bars in the restroom to help people with disabilities or Senior Citizens who have difficulty moving. There were no Senior Citizen or AARP discount rates.
Clean rooms, friendly staff, nice sized room with a balcony. TV not much good, although there were probably 50 channels listed on the guide next to the TV only about a dozen came in. Seems like they cancelled cable and put up an over the air antenna.
The location is amazing. We took the train into Santa Barbara and the hotel was only about a 5 min walk away. It's one block from the beach, close to the breakwater and a short walk to the peir or downtown. Rooms are clean, comfortable and modern.
Nice location, close to the beach, but has a baseball field across from the hotel which I was not too crazy about. Quiet area. Free breakfast The place could use some updating. Nasty old carpets in the hallways. The room was somewhat dusty. The whole place can use a facelift. Was not overall impressed with the place, thought it could be cleaner and better kept in shape.
It was a super clean and very modern. Having a microwave and a frig in the room was extremely useful! The shower was spacious and the bathroom was tighty! Would stay here again! I did not like the fact that for both check-in and check-out I was waiting five plus minutes for someone to help me. They have a button that you press for service and I pressed it several times for service. No one came till I had pushed it four times.
spacious room dirty towel left from last guest
The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is very well kept and the remodel was nicely done. Very good location, close to dining and shopping. You cant beat a 1 min walk to the beach! My wife and I enjoyed our stay and will be returning soon. Maybe next time we will borrow a couple of the beach cruisers and ride along the beach. Nothing
The check in process was easy - the people are beyond friendly - the rooms are comfy (great bedding). We booked too late to get a good price- we paid twice what our friends did.
Location Noisey manager. Actually counted the items we took at the continent breakfast. Very creepy!
Great location. Just steps from the beach. Great breakfast. Uncomfortable bed, furniture looked worn/heavily used. The toilet and toilet seat were OLD. Like they probably didn't change it out when they bought and remodeled the place. The floor in the bathroom was disgusting - a woven grass cloth/vinyl. I'm sure it holds all the germs. Old metal shower doors were just painted over. Tv only had about 10 working channels. In general for what I paid, I definitely expected more. The pics make it seem much nicer than it is.
Our original plans were set for the Fess Parker hotel where my conference was scheduled. Due to poor customer service at the Fess Parker I searched yelp and found Inn at East Beach. Let me just start off by saying Fess Parker did me a favor and finding Inn at East Beach was the best thing ever. Frank and Linda own and reside there and you couldn't ask for nicer people. The hotel is spotless, the decor is warm and inviting. We stayed in their fireplace suite and loved it. Many people have commented about the "jello" bed, we did not feel that this was an issue. Other people commented about the thin walls and unfortunately that is true. When the occupants next to us start their shower, it reverberates through the wall that it wakes us up each time. Breakfast is included as is the wifi here. You are a block from the ocean and blocks from downtown. Lots of great restaurants and the wharf is nearby. Inn at East Beach is where I'll be staying from now on when I come to SB. Thank you Frank and Linda for your hospitality, we'll be back!
Location. Staff friendly, they try to be helpful. Continental breakfast was generous, they need more tables and chairs for guest to sit, maybe more table for two. Towel/shower were separate from the sink. Generous assortment of toiletries. The décor was appealing but badly needs to be maintained. Nice glass desk. Glass side table was wobbly. Lots of hangers in closet. Nice big dresser could have used a mirror over it. The room was not clean. Rooms are tired looking. All decks and walkways look dirty, need to be hosed down. Our reservation was for a double Queen with a Kitchenette (4 ladies). We were were given a King Kitchenette. After being persistent they moved us to a double Queen Kitchenette. No air-conditioning and our window opened up to the parking lot. Uhg! The beds are ok, very springy, the linins appeared clean. Bath towels are nice size and thick. Upholstered chairs were comfy but not clean. Edges of carpet and base boards not cleaned in a long while. Glass on fireplace had hand prints and drips on it. Bath floor covers and sink area are a beach mat type of material and moldy. Bath sink is a huge rectangle with two facets, but the facets are to close together for two adults. The vanity should have spanned the entire wall with a the mirror spanning the wall as well for more light and use. Vanity needs electric out let at each end. The LED lights over the bed did not work properly, but a great idea. Door matts in front of each room were cute but falling apart. Kitchenette was ok, badly needs remolded the microwave was on top of the refrigerator. The full size refrigerator, stove top and oven are to big for the small kitchenette. More counter and pantry space less appliance! A full size coffee maker would be better. There were only 2 coffee mugs (for 4 people). Poor assortment of dishes and glass wear. Use Small dish sponges and or dish clothes, not sloppy drippy scrub pads. When the maid washed the drinking glasses she left them face down in the bottom of the sink! Ick! Minimum toilet and paper towels, no extra we ran out. Beach; chairs, towels and umbrellas broken and shabby. Consider ordering good ones business name or logo on them. Pool needed vacuumed. Pool lounges broken down, deck dirty. The over all décor would be lovely but is not standing up to commercial use.
The manager, Frank, was pretty much the only highlight of the hotel. The hotel was EXTREMELY HOT. Yes, Santa Barbara was having very humid weather, but the hotel was much hotter than the temperature outside. Be warned, this hotel has NO AIR CONDITIONING. I can guess that the walls are not insulated either. I have stayed at so many hotels in my life, from very very basic motels to high end hotels, and never in my life have I been to a hotel with no air conditioning. It was miserable. Guests had to leave their doors open and every one just seemed so uncomfortable. Nothing about the room was inviting or cozy. The shower finish was all peeling off. The bathroom floors were an odd bamboo material and were actually damp when we arrived, which seemed very odd. To me it just seemed like an old motel that went through a crappy renovation so that it could charge hundreds of dollars per night. Arriving at the hotel did not feel like a vacation - no charm, no excitement. Unfortunately, I would never return.
Very enjoyable experience. Staff was very courteous, professional and helpful. Concierge was very knowledgeable of the area. I will return and recommend to friends and famil Sandy
The breakfast bar was great! Rooms are dated but ok. Don't let the photos fool you. Staff was EXTREMELY helpful and EXTREMELY nice! Had a great walk along the beach and was close to many things to do. we would stay again!
-Great location! -You can see the beach right from the Inn -Friendly and informational gentleman at the office during check-in -Room was simple but very clean -Clean room and bathroom -Bathrooms comes with small shampoos and soap -Very close to the beach and State St. -Comes with a mini fridge -Room has Cable with HBO and Wifi -A bit overpriced for a Inn/Motel -Wifi barely worked
Friendly people, near the beach, clean. One of the rooms had a good ocean view, which we liked.
Lovely, unexpectedly large rooms in a beautifully designed, renovated motel space--Wendy, the owner/manager, is super friendly and accommodating. Totally recommended and would definitely stay here again.
the decor was kind of cute. I just needed a safe place to sleep after bday celebration in DT Santa Barbara and this place did the job. I liked the bathroom sink....and there was lots of shelving to set my hairdryer and makeup and straightener. Not as pictured. No kitchenette. Tiny room.
Easy, Cute , Perf Location !!! UCSB near by !! Zero
The breakfast in the morning was great. This is not a 3 star hotel. I would say it's 2. It was really loud. Bedding was not soft. Old facilities.
Very nice staff and nice room Shower leaves a little to improve.
The location was close to transit routes and restaurants The tv was in the living room with no tv in the bedroom, the couch and chair were worn and that's where the tv was
Breakfast was mediocre and shower was mediocre - kept being much too warm and much too cold. Found a few bugs in the shower room.
BED THE BREAKFAST
Large shower. Table with two chairs plus ergonomic desk chair and comfortable arm chair.
The bed was comfortable 4PM check in time? That is silly. Every place I've ever stayed has a 1PM check in. I got into town early and had to walk around on sit and wait because of this policy. I'll never stay at the sandpiper again
Location. Front desk staff was very helpful! WiFi signal was spotty in our room.
Clean, practical, comfortable.
The room was clean, remodeled and comfortable. It was a good motel for the price.
Everything was fine. No complaints -- but nothing was special about this place. We arrived late and left early so we were just looking for a place to sleep. The rooms were convenient, clean and comfortable. this was one of the few places in its price range that had a pool, free breakfast and Queen (as opposed to double) beds. $200 a night for what was basically a Motel 6 seemed pricey to me -- even for Santa Barbara. The breakfast was a little skimpy: I would have like bacon or sausage to accompany the scrambled eggs and typically a Danish or sweet roll is included. The conveyor machine wasn't working so the entire breakfast room had to wait to use the toaster.
Room was cozy and coffee kuerig machine. Decent breakfast. Walls are thin and our neighboring guests were very loud till middle of the night.
- very nice garden area that is unusual for hotels of that price category - clean - breakfast and free wifi included
Although my room was small, it had been updated. The bathroom was recently updated with nicer fixtures. The grounds, although small, were well-tended and a respite from the typical motel fare. This is just across the street from Gelson's market and less than a mile from the La Cumbre Mall, so it's close to shopping and not far from Downtown Santa Barbara. There is a very nice residential area behind the motel so I had no concerns walking at night. The staff was very friendly too. My room was fairly close to State Street, so I did start to hear traffic around 7am. If you're a light sleeper or like to sleep in you might want to get a room near the back of the motel.
This property is an older motel on a busy street that has been completely remodeled and updated. They have done so with great attention to detail and have stylishly created a space that feels like a quaint Latin American Village. The rooms feel modern with good beds and shower heads and accessories. Best of all, it is a really good value. Even though we needed to be on the opposite side of Santa Barbara, we have stayed here and enjoyed it on two occasions. You could argue that their continental breakfast is lacking because of a lack of a dining area but they have maximized a small outdoor patio for a pleasant 3 table setting if your plans allow. In this city of inflated hotel prices, we will return to Oasis Inn and Suites.
wonderfully friendly staff. cool murals. Not the hottest in terms of decorating style.
Hot tub and massive 42" tv Nothing
It was clear they are actively working on improving the property. The staff was nice and compared to othe hotels in the area the pricing was good. When we did our pre check in we were told we were being given a free room upgrade. However when we got there they said the were unable to honor that upgrade. I would suggest not offering things you can not provide.
The bed was the BEST I've slept on!! SO soft! There was a plastic bag (?) outside next to the trash bin. No big deal but hard to miss.
easy to book and took us late as we were driving from northern california south. it was terribly expensive for the facility they offer. old, smelled like smoke, small bathroom, and the sheet had a stain. would have rather stayed in my car. wish we had.
The bedding was clean The shower was disgusting! Old, not updated at all. And not very well cared for.
There was nothing I really liked relative to any other hotel/motel There was trash under the bed, stains on the cover. Room had an irritable smell and I just was not a fan of the overall experience. I picked it because it was the cheapest room available last minute but had I would've known what the experience would have been like I would have rather spend twice the price for something more acceptable.
Location and price. Room smelled bad. Carpet was very worn and tattered. Few and inconvenient electrical outlets.
It was close to whole foods Most everything.
The cleanliness Size, no breakfast
The price was acceptable for the location. Good parking lot. They had a pool.
Cheap hotel with honest price, with all you need and free parking. Too many truck drivers and weird figures attending hotel. Not a family environment, mostly at night.
As always Santa Barbara is an expensive place. The hotel was a big surprise as to it's modern design and functionality, very nice. The cost was high but what you would expect for Santa Barbara.
Close to near by attractions The room was small
The location was good. I was very very disappointed that there was NOT a hair dryer in the room. I have NEVER Stayed at a hotel or motel that did not have a hair dryer.
Close to downtown Santa Barbara and walking distance from local eateries and bars
It smelled so bad in the room, not tolerable we both got a huge headache.
I booked a queen sized bed but we were given a room with 2 full size beds. When we called the front desk we were told that it was our mistake not the hotel's and no rooms would be available for a few hours.
The people at the front desk were very helpful and understanding. All rooms smelled like smoke
The hotel was clean and comfortable. It was easy to get around Santa Barbara. The location was quite central. It would be better to stay further down State Street towards the beach. However, this was fine for our purposes.
The oceanfront location is absolutely perfect! The suite rooms with the jacuzzi tubs are the only way to go. Seriously, bring your own towels. You will also want to consider ear plugs as this is an old wood structure which is great at carrying noise.
Unfortunetly, I cannot comment on one feature or attribute that I enjoyed at the Alamar By The Sea Motel. The rooms looked absolutely nothing like the ones online. They were extremely small and cramped. You literally had to step sideways to cross the bed. The room was adorned with furniture that looked like it came from a yard sale.... 20 years ago. There wasn't an iron in the room, and only 2 out of the 4 lights functioned properly. Parking was a pain because they only had 8 or 10 parking spots, but they were compact, and small. I was always worried that it was going to get damanged. The breakfast was a joke, they crammed a waffle maker on the front counter at the reservation desk. This motel was a terrible disappointment.
The location was great as across the street was the ocean and a block down was the pier. The guy at check in was very nice as well. Bed was rock hard. No light in bathroom. Only one light in the room was functional. Smelled musty. The guy at check out seemed more interested in the TV than the guests.
Beach proximity Poor facility and dirty. Way too for thé poor state it is in.
Nice clean room with seaview, perfect location.
great location, by the sea. did not have thermostat for heat, there was a fake firplace but no instructions on how to work it.The bathroom window did not close, but we were on 2nd floor. the facility needed updating. The breakfast was to be picked up and carried back to your room, or eaten on the patio.
Needs basic maintenance. Plumbing, Electrical outlet put my cell phone out, but clerk fixed.
Place, near the beach Small old towells ,only for hands and face, lights equipment not working - no reaction from stuff, Breckfast exist - but you need get it in very small place downstares and bring to you room- very non comfortable
It was within walking distance of many restaurants. The best part was it was directly across the street from the beach!
Great location across the street from the beach/warf. Sundeck offers a beautiful place to enjoy breakfast. 3 star location, 1 star room. Small bathroom, shower backs up, noises from other guests walking upstairs.
Nothing. Terrible smell all over the hotel. Could not even take a shower!!!!
Hotel staff was very nice. I had bug bite around my neck and leg and cups are not clean at all.
good location, clean no coffee in the hotel supplied coffee maker
High service quality. Staff and management are friendly, competent and caring. Good Room standard. Cleaning seems perfect. Seen as tourist, we give this motel a high ranking. For us non-urban people, Santa Barbara makes a perfect stay for a couple of days of recreation, coast-line and scenic expieriences. There is a broard balcony at first floor. An arrangement of a small plastic table + 2 chairs to be place in front of some og the apartments - Good quality and a type, which can be stacked. To booking.com: At point 4 - question 3: A category "Couple - mid age" is missing. As I saw the typical visitor, many were, as we, in between young and elderly.
staffs there r super nice
As an alumni I was looking for a place to stay that was between IV and Downtown. This place proved to be exactly in the center. It has an iron and ironing board. The shower was clean and had hot water. Had a small fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Has Cable and HBO If you're looking for an inexpensive place to stay just to eat and shower this is it. I wouldn't look for anything more than that. I would consider this place a 2.5 star motel. The room was small - the King size bed took up most of the space. The sheets were clean but stained. The bed was hard and not very comfortable. I'm normally a deep sleeper but I woke up every few hours. The sink water smelled like sulfur. The TV was very small. The parking lot can fill up very quickly and its sometimes difficult to get of your parking spot.
Blankets really dirty and smelly, no swimming pool, way too expensive for what it is.
The room was clean and had an microwave and a fridge. Free parking area. The price was to expensive for our room. 5 min drive by car to the shopping area and sea-side. Our room had a bad smelling.
The sheets were dirty.
It was quiet and centrally located. Basic accommodation at a reasonable price (for Santa Barbara). There was a disagreeable odor in the room - like body sweat. Could have used a hook on the bathroom door for clothes etc
Cute room, large room---the king room is awesome! Large bathroom! Very spacious and nice. You'd pay the same at Motel 6---you might as well get something better for your money.
Close to downtown sb (2-3 miles) for really good price Not clean, i saw bugs and there was a spider falling on my bed out of the blue.
Walking distance to restaurants and necessities Poor bed, small space, no hair dryer, one mirror, stayed in two different rooms and one had lousy TV and bad wifi connection, too loud to hear traffic at 2-4 am, not enough pillows on bed. Room was very clean so tolerated inconveniences
Cheapest in the area. Walking distance to plenty of places to eat or buy amenities. Mattress was a rock, bed sheets were sandpaper. We could easily hear the TV next door and every single person that walked by outside the room. No separation between toilet and rest of bathroom (sink and mirror). Wifi cost extra.
Price Staff flexibility to give us a different room even though I accidentally only booked one bed but obviously a family cannot sleep in one queen size bed. Even though they were completely booked they made it happen. met all my expectations for a Motel 6
The picture is COMPLETELY accurate, the room looks exactly as shown. There is an additional 3 seat table under the TV which both beds face. You can't hear the neighbors or the noise from the street. The AC is not loud enough to disturb sleep like I have experienced before in other hotels. The non-carpeted floors is a good thing to note in case you were expecting to throw down a blanket and pillow for someone who didn't want to share a bed. Free coffee in the morning and a pool, it was the perfect spot for what we needed!
Clean and predictable, which is GOOD! You can count on Motel 6 to be the same generally everywhere. Don't like paying for wi-fi. That's silly in this day and time.
Clean and simple Very little toiletries no shampoo
not anything small dirty rooms. noise. would NEVER stay again
Gentlemen behind the desk was very courteous and helpful
