Pickup and dropoff at the rental location was quick however we did have to wait 30± mins to get the van from the airport to take us to the off-site lot. I was given a Hyundai accent as an intermediate vehicle. I would normally consider this compact class but they insisted it was correct. I'm not sure who was right but it was smaller than I anticipated.

The process to check out the car took too much time. I was able to show them my prepurchased insurance through Kayak. No problems there. I change the reservation from the airport to the hotel. No problem there with increased charges. They meet you at the airport to pick you up with a sign. They used my What’s app app to contact me. Don’t disregard that. There is a person watching the app to respond. They upgraded us for the inconvenience. Person at the desk spoke English well. Nice new, maintained car. Streets in Chile are very good and cell tower will run quickly keep you informed on your maps apps. I would rent a car in Chile again.

Met at airport by a Hertz employee with a sign and brought to the offsite location via a third party shuttle. They had a problem with their system and weren't able to enter my Hertz Gold # so had to give all. All worked, great car, kind staff but between shuttle and info, took >45min to get on the road.

Pros:

When we arrived the car was not available.

Cons:

The whole process sucked. NO car available despite a conformation.

The car was clean and good, like promised

Cons:

Significant extra price for obligatory insurance. Got car with a bit leftover of gas, and was told that can return with any amount in tge tank, but on return was demanded to fill up to a quater of rank (a lot of quarrel for $10 worth of fuel, very frustrating). Still waiting the estimate for the flat ture (small puncture in the airport)

Pros:

I'm not sure how much it cost me in telephone roaming charges. I have to see on my phone bill when it arrives, But I was called twice during the rental to first, provide my credit card a second time and second, on the fourth day of the rental, I was asked to trade out that vehicle for another one. This isn't easy in the US and in Chile, when I don't have telephone connections and the language, it makes it very complicated. I still am mystified why my vacation stopped and had to focus on Avis emergencies.

The Garmin Satnav. Didn't recognise some of the towns in Chile. Google maps was better
