The staff at the White Bluff Savannah location is AMAZING!!! None of my review marks have anything to do with them. In fact I would tell everyone to go to them if they need a rental in Low Country because they are fantastic!!!

Cons:

Fist off, I booked for an airport pick up and drop off, what I got was a 50 dollar taxi ride 30 minutes away. Second, my information was never passed onto the rental location. They had no way of getting a hold of me. Complete garbage. So naturally, there were no vehicles available, even though I booked a solid month out.

Staff at the counter not overly friendly, and there was confusion about what car we rented and needed as their current inventory was very low. We ended up getting a vehicle that worked, but it was different from what we booked. Returning the car was quick and easy, and the car itself was very nice.

Pros:

Nothing. The place was temporarily closed. Even though I was sent a reminder email the day before.. Called Priceline to inform them and was told they apologize that their system was not updated. The only thing they could offer me was to cancel without penalty. I was set to travel out of town. Will never use again

I booked through Kayak and my confirmation had an estimated total of $197.74 but once I landed and gave the Avis desk my confirmation details, they said my rate for the reservation no longer existed even though I had email confirmation from both Avis and Kayak showing the rate. Instead, I was charged $388.77 and the associate told me there was nothing she could do, nor could she give me a cheaper rate on any other vehicle (I asked if I could simply take their cheapest car/rate combo instead). Now, these total charges have exceeded my company's travel policy, so I cannot be reimbursed for the excess fees associated with the overcharged booking. I need an explanation immediately regarding the upcharge and the shady business practice of confirming an estimated quote, then practically doubling it once I arrive to pick up the vehicle.

Convertible

Arrived after selecting a convertible. No convertible available, so they gave us a jeep with a hard top, and although you could remove it, the sections were large and we were in a hotel with no where to store them. Returned the same day instead of the 6 days we had planned. The staff at the airport were very nice.

Aweful. My flight got delayed so they cancelled my car because I didn’t pick it up at the exact reservation time. I had to make an emergency trip due to my Grandmother being in the hospital. This was really inconvenient and I will never give Thrifty my business again.

Check in and check out was great! Quick and easy, efficient people working the desk. Didn’t like the price changed at counter verses on line. $10 more per day to upgrade from a van to a compact car. I requested a compact car being it was only me in the car. Doesn’t seem right!

Pros:

The Payless counter in Savannah is closed. A sign directed me to the Budget Rental Car counter which had a long line and only 2 agents. There were people standing around for hours waiting for a car to become available. We got lucky and didn't have to wait once we finally checked in, but the car we got was not cleaned. At that point, we had been in line for an hour, so we went ahead and took the dirty car. It smelled like sour milk, but at least it was the size we reserved and otherwise was issue-free.

Cons:

More rental cars are definitely needed in Savannah!!

Cons:

Payless does not have any employees working at the Savannah airport location. You have to go to Budget/Avis. Then they walk you all the way back to the Payless counter where they have to manually fill out paperwork because computers do not come up properly and the printer is broken. The employee that helped me was fantastic. Had she not been this extra time spent and nonsense would have been a terrible experience. There is no one to check cars back in for Avis/Budget or Payless. For Avis and Budget you can fill out mileage and put it in the box but for Payless you have to go back to Avis and budget wait in line and give them the key and paperwork. They should just add a Payless box. Had that line been longer I could have easily waited 20-30 min just to hand that to someone. The process is not well thought out.

They did not have one single car available but still booked my $450 reservation turning me away from the rental counter after three tries. No upgrades, just said they had no cars and there weren’t going to be any no matter how long I waited.

Took an hour to get the rental key in my hand at Savannah airport. . Even thoug the parent company Avis is at every airport- Payless is not so when I needed to fly out of another airport - I could only return it to Savannah even though Avis was at Charleston. They need to fully merge all 3 companies budget / Avis/ and Payless - makes no sense to keeep separate. Not worth the few bucks I saved . Won’t use again
