Good example of historical coaching inn Rather expensive, breakfast food patchy in quality.
Nice looking place, very traditional English decor. Perhaps we caught them on a bad day but there was some initial confusion about our double room being a double. We then had to change rooms because of a shower fitting that hadn't been repaired. Staff accommodated this fine, but we'd not have been able to if it had been full. Very expensive for what it is - Central London hotels are cheaper than this - and it doesn't really offer anything to justify the cost.
Friendly staff and very clean rooms.
the atmosphere of the hotel
Did not like noise from a wedding reception below our room and the need to move rooms at 11.30p.M.
Atmosphere - mixing the old with the new
reception by staff and dining facilities excellent. Evening meal and breakfast top quality. Floral display beautiful and antiquity of hotel wonderful the rooms and hallways leading to them require a little "refreshment". Though comfortable, given the tariff, I felt some improvement in this area would bring enhance this beautiful old hotel.
The Staff were friendly The building was extremely old and the floor is uneven and not level in some places, this was understandable due to the age but my bed (room 4) was not level and when lying down my feet were higher than my head. I found this disturbing to sleep on. I think they should address this issue as it definately effects the comfort of the stay.
I felt that for the price of the room, it should have been more spacious! A more overall welcome!
Comfortable room.Excellent food with helpful, friendly service No air-conditioning in the room
