10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfasts were well presented, with a good selection. The host had previously asked for our choices and the cooked breakfasts were served on time. Our rooms were clean and very welcoming with everything that we needed.
Cons: Our rooms were ideal for a single occupant in each, but could be quite small if two people needed to share room 3.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: breakfast was adequate
Cons: I have no complaints but would have preferred a more flexible breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We liked the friendliness and charm of our host and hostess. The guest house and our bedroom oozed class with their beautiful appointments and variety of antique furniture and fittings. The breakfast was excellent (although the salmon - scrambled egg mix Mr H patience ordered was somewhat on the salty side). Very good value for money.
Cons: An opportunity to extend our stay by a second night as the guest house was full for the following evening!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Rooms are beautifully appointed and I really liked the decoration. Everything is very clean and comfortable. Breakfast is up there with the best English breakfasts I’ve ever had. Friendly owners. Easy to come and go as you please. Excellent location for us, visiting my parents.
Cons: The only minor detail, which I forgot to mention to the owner, is that booking.com lists the property as having air-con, which it doesn’t. This would hardly ever be a problem as the room remains cool and comfortable. However, if you stay there on the hottest night in Nottinghamshire history it gets a bit toasty. Unfortunately, with global warming and Brexit, temperatures are rising all the time...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the home and the breakfast was more than we could have wish for
Cons: You could not have improve on the guest house or the service
8.3 Excellent
Pros: good location good staff very nice breakfast all in all a good place to stay recommended - decor rather dated but I quite liked that excellent value for money
Cons: TV was poor in terms of ease of use and channel selection
9.5 Excellent

Cons: Nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The room was fantastic, the attention to detail was excellent, it was one of the nicest rooms I've ever stayed in. The owners were very welcoming and a pleasure to meet. The breakfast was good quality and very tasty. Would defiantly stay here again. We stayed for a wedding reception at a nearby venue, so not able to comment on the immediate area, but look fine, couple of pubs Tesco etc.. If I was visiting the Newark/Lincoln area again this B&B would be my first choice.
Cons: Nothing, it was a pleasure to stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts went over and above to help us as I stayed the night before my wedding & on our wedding night. Superb stay, food & friendliness. Nothing was too much trouble!
Cons: Having to leave!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous Guest house, very welcoming and friendly. Loved having drinks in the garden on arrival chatting to our hosts. The beautiful house was spotlessly clean , really comfy bed, top notch bed linen, we slept really well. Breakfast was beautifully served and very tasty. Look forward to returning another time. The location was really convenient to visit the theatre.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A warm and wonderful welcome from Pablo, shortly followed by an introduction to the beautiful home and my room which was large and well appointed - and the bathroom was gigantic with walk-in shower and claw foot bath. All furniture is outstanding with fine art on every wall. Great relaxing garden. A welcome drink was well received as was the fine breakfast in the morning.
Cons: Nothing, it was all outstanding.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The takeaway breakfast that Pablo prepared for me as I had to leave so early was delicious and substantial and got a very long business day off to a good start. The spacious bath tub was a much enjoyed relaxation after the stresses of finding the place.
Cons: It was really hard to find the place as the B&B sign was tiny and easy to miss as I drove up and down the main road outside in torrential rain and where there were few places to stop and gain my bearings. As a result I arrived after a very long car journey feeling rather flustered and not at all relaxed. The parking was also very tight.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful house with wonderful hosts. Pablo & John were amazing Everything about the stay was perfect Would recommend Definitely will return
Cons: Nothing everything was perfect

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Continental breakfast in the room was good and plentiful. Room in converted out building and to a very high standard.
Cons: Probably a one off, but we booked in to the pub for dinner and probably because the weather was so good and their was a hunt meeting in the village and because it was fish & chips for £7.50 night, it took over an hour to get our food.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: i would have liked a cooked breakfast ,but that is my only complaint. the staff were very good and friendly, the food excellent.the beer superb, the room was of a deluxe standard.if i am ever in the area again i hope i can book this place again

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great place to stay- everything I could need was provided. Peaceful location, great nights sleep!
Cons: Everything was great! Only small recommendation I would make is to have a small shelf next to the sink to put toiletry bag on but certainly not a grumble, just a suggestion...

Pros: The greeting on arrival. Everything explained. The breakfast already in the room ready for the morning. Lots of choice to eat for breakfast. Lovely room with little dining table set up for breakfsst. Lovely quiet location but very near Sherwood Forest.
Cons: My only comment would be being put in a small area of the inn to eat with 2 other families when there was lots of room elsewhere set up. I struggled to see with little natural light. That is my only negative.

Cons: Nothing I didn’t like
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was very good and when I told the owner (Sue) that I preferred normal sausages to chipolatas she went to the trouble to provide them for me on the 2nd day of my stay. Good location in a quiet village but within easy reach of Newark and National Trust properties around Grantham.
Cons: My room only had a small skylight which made the room rather dark and a bit airless. Not a deal breaker as the room was spotlessly clean and comfortable, but I would have preferred a window. Central courtyard a bit drab.

7.5 Good
Pros: Food was excellent. Owners who really care and are trying hard to renovate to a high standard.

Pros: The service and the food were excellent. The menu was extensive especially breakfast.
Cons: Bathroom door kept sticking when shut making it very difficult to open the door.
4.5 Okay
Pros: Bathroom was good Large car park.
Cons: The bedroom carpet was disgusting. When I walked bare-foot on it, I thought my feet were going to stick to it. The corridors and bedroom were smelly, probably because of the carpet. The cooked breakfast food was fine but the instant coffee very disappointing. The bedroom literature warns you in extra large font that if you lose your room key, you will have to pay for a new lock and the cost of it being fitted !

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. The room, the breakfast, the hospitality.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great property with wonderful host. The little treats provided were much appreciated!
7.0 Good
Pros: Set in a quiet location close to the village pub. We stayed in the Annex and it was very well appointed and roomy. The property allowed the use of an Electric Vehicle Charge point. Plenty of options with the vegetarian breakfast, some of which was homemade.
Cons: Cobwebs in the toilet and bedroom. We found a banana skin in the bedroom waste bin on arrival. The bed valance was dirty. The breakfast had been kept warm for a while on the first 2 days. Glassware was dirty on the first day and some crockery was chipped. Despite checking we had access to the electric vehicle charge point before our booking, it wasn't until the day before our arrival we were told that there would be a charge. As it happened the £7.50 per day charge wasn't unreasonable, but they did try to add a 50 pence per day surcharge for paying it by credit card. (Illegal in the UK since January 2018).
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Location very nice and quiet. Breakfast was perfect.
Cons: Parking at site/not en-suite
7.5 Good
Pros: So much thought and attention to detail. A property with atmosphere and character. Everything provided with flair. Breakfast was lovely and hosts could not have been friendlier. Linen towels etc luxurious.
Cons: There did need to be more thorough dusting and cleaning of our room. Hygiene and bathroom /food areas were spotless. We do appreciate we were in the room designated for staying with dog.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Susannah makes all the difference, she is unique! Caring, chatty, concerned and interesting with a fascinatingly inquiring mind. Such a fun person. The apple juice is superb, tangy and sweet at the same time. The house is one of a kind, a listed building which I should have loved to learn more about. Wifi was high speed and consistent. The local pub (The Plough) was really friendly and the food was excellent.
Cons: I should have welcomed a little more heat. The en-suite bathroom was down the corridor but in the event this was not a problem, Susannah said I wouldn't meet anybody and I didn't!

Pros: Nice clean room good bathroom. Good food and great staff
Cons: I had a room outside on the car park . The room was very hot as there is only one window to open I had an uncomfortable nights sleep. The TV in the room is too small I was woken by a van pulling into the parking space outside my room at 0650 not the best alarm call

We were made to feel very welcome even though we had 2 dogs with us, Nothing is a problem for these guys and girls.

6.8 Good
Pros: Location is great.
Cons: Room was very hot - we had the window open but as we were the nearest room to the reception it was quite noisy, people were sat right outside our window drinking in the evening, plus the internal door to rest of the hotel was next to us too so banged alot. Am not sure there should be a bedroom in this location, or should get some air conditioning and sound proofing! We were also woken by early risers who were leaving the hotel before breakfast. Am sure this isnt a problem in winter obviously. Breakfast wasn't the best - no proper coffee, hot food was disappointingly cheap tasting. The selection of their non cooked breakfast was quite good though and, although the room was not to our taste, it was clean and well maintained. We wouldn't stay again Im afraid we've had better experience at other B+Bs in the area.
7.0 Good
Pros: No comment
Cons: Bed, breakfast, bathroom fan. NO EMERGENCY EXIT.
10.0 Excellent

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Locality and easy access to the town centre. Nice clean cozy room, good breakfast, friendly staff, good nights sleep and place is quiet.
Cons: Nothing of note, hotel had all the necessary facilities.
7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast was excellent with a good selection of hot and cold food. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. The hotel is clean with a pleasant outside seating area.
Cons: Rooms are a bit dated. We had a ground floor 'executive suite'. However privacy was an issue could do with blinds at the window instead of heavy curtains and the room lighting was poor. For the price point we expected slightly more.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location is near the Newark Castle and many restaurants are close by..the interiors of the hotel are relly good and looks like heritage..
Cons: nothing much
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good location. Nice walk along the river into the town. Breakfast was lovely with lots of choice. Staff were pleasant and rooms were clean and comfortable.

Cons: bedding and towels were not clean, there were from previous tenants.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: there was no bfeakfast, staff were not available until after 3 pm, bedding and bathtowels not changed as agreed. No cleaning of the rooms were done, very disappointed.
Cons: unfriendly staff and poor service
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Room was very spacious and comfortable beds.
Cons: The shower over the bath was very difficult to work out how to use. Instructions would be helpful. Also the problems with the shower causing dampness/mold around the bath which needs a thorough clean.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: the beds are a good size and the decor is lovely, rooms are very spacious. The staff were friendly and welcoming
Cons: The shower unfortunately overflowed and is in need of renewing and the television was a bit too small
6.8 Good
Pros: Large, Spacious rooms, nice decor in main bedroom. Like the fact the rooms are away from the restaurant sort of Stable/Motel style. 2 Double beds/Twin Settee Lots of parking Easy to find Easy check in at restaurant & seamless checkout as you just deposit the key in the box on the wall.
Cons: We were allocated room No 1 Although curtains were black, they need to be darker, blackout curtains would be an advantage and something to stop the light of dawn glaring through the Fanlight at the top of the door. Bathroom, sorry but requires serious need of attention! Very old and dilapidated, cold tap spinning round from its fixing and hanging off, grout missing and mouldy in places. Shower cubicle was also mouldy in places and absolutely tiny for such a large spacious room. The flooring/shower tray was broken and cracked and moved up & down. My partner drew my attention to this as he had a shower first, and as I am still recovering from foot surgery, was concerned you could get your foot or toe trapped. Therefore a germ hazard too! Can’t understand why when installing, they did not take advantage of the space and put a decent, larger, new shower cubicle in and a regular height sized toilet as the one in this bathroom is reminiscent of those at a primary school. The whole bathroom is just floor to ceiling white tiles which looked like you were entering a cell or a lunatic asylum. Not too pleasant. Could do with some hangers in the wardrobe as there was none. Sorry for having to write my thoughts as we didn’t complain as it didn’t really affect our stay to much as it was only one night to celebrate a friends 50th in Newark-on-Trent. However, I do think it’s constructive criticism and I hope it helps the owners get it right! Thanks
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was good for its money it was great that the rooms were on the side and not in the bar it self
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: There was nothing to like about this place!

Pros: Breakfast was excellent. Four poster room overlooking main road was lovely. Bathroom could do with upgrade.
Cons: Considering it's such a beautiful old building it somehow lacked atmosphere. Bar prices extortionate
10.0 Excellent
Pros: All was really good.
Cons: Only 1 issue. On the hottest day ever recorded we could not turn off the heated towel rail in the bathroom. In winter this would be an excellent feature but not in summer.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: very good
Cons: no complaints.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very good evening meal and a first rate breakfast, not the biggest but done to perfection.
Cons: A little warm in the bedroom and the fan fell to bits
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Room lovely. Location lovely
Cons: Not too keen on the gentleman at breakfast who thought he was very funny asking if my friend wanted him to throw her plate of poached eggs on toast at her !. Also not very happy that the receptionist suggested to a male member of our party when asking if they had a room for the night that he bunk up with me in my room to save costs!!!! Definite no!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a comfortable room with a bathroom, not just a shower. The reception staff were friendly and helpful as were the dining room staff and we loved all the chiming clocks in the dining room. If you want history, you could not choose a better place. We were able to see the Elizabethan wall painting in a couple of their rooms. Despite being very central we had a quiet stay. Free parking in a generously sized car park is a bonus and the hotel is centrally placed for walking to the Cathedral, Museum etc. There was a beautiful continental breakfast selection, which was what we wanted. Those having a cooked breakfast also seemed well satisfied.
Cons: Everything was fine

5.5 Okay
Pros: We got what we paid for. Basic, very. Basic
Cons: A mirror in the room would help. A top up the next day on tea, coffee etc. A table dusted cups cleaned and returned. A general sweep up to the outside around the entrance. Plus a look at the door lock to room 1, it’s very Temperamental and a worry it will open in the morning.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Evening meal was excellent and good vaue for money. Serving staff friendly and helpful.
Cons: 1st the toilet waste system were run by an electronic disposal system - this created a continuos loud nouse when running and for one flush it went on working for approximately 10 minutes.when other people flyshed toilets we were subjected to the same nouse. This went on for sometime disturbing our evening and beginnings of sleep. Complimentary breakfast was a nice thought but there was no butter for the crousants and the coffee jar was empty. Because of this it only got a fair rating.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely place that was easy to find. Staff were friendly and was clean and comfortable. Even though breakfast wasn’t included in the rate we paid we still had the option for cereal, croissants tea and coffee which you help yourself to.
Cons: It is right next to the railway which may bother some people, but really didn’t bother me. Was still able to get a brilliant nights sleep.
6.3 Good
Pros: Breakfast Basic serve yourself if you were able to get there quick. Very limited choices.
Cons: Close to railway line. Horrific noise of doors being slammed early hours of the morning. No staff to deal with any problems with noisy guests.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The property was simply decorated, clean and staff were welcoming.
Cons: Please get some fans. Really hot in the rooms.

Pros: Variety of choices for evening meals
Cons: Croissant box empty and we were the only people staying.
6.3 Good

Cons: Dead moth in bathroom blind, dirty bedsheets with holes in.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: I’ve used the Fountain twice now, I’ve found the rooms to be very clean comfortable and tidy, ideal for a one nighter or even weekend stopover always free breakfast bits available also tea coffee ect
Cons: Please note the building is old it is a pub/restaurant so sound proofing could be an issue but to be honest everyone was quite when I stayed there so no major probs, you do get the odd train go by now and again but it’s not really an issue
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great service, fantastic food, i had spicy meatballs and sticky toffee pudding. Room was fine and bed comfortable if a bit cramped. Plug sockets a bit hard to use because in tight positions.
