The Historic Davenport is a unique and beautiful hotel that you’ll almost assuredly let out an audible wow at some point during your stay. Renovations on historic hotels are necessary and important. Unfortunately, they happened to be during our stay, which prevented us from the full Davenport experience. But it also left us with a great reason to visit again!
Cons. We loved the historical pictures and stories that were told through out the hotel. It was like going back in time. Magical
Pros. I love the historical elements of this hotel. The rooms are large, elegant and quieter than the newer Davenport Tower across the street. The staff are friendly and upbeat. The special touches include a nightly turndown with peanut brittle candy.
Cons. The only thing I don't care for about this facility is that the atrium area of the main floor always feels dark. There is a lot of beautiful dark wood, andiIt is true to the original era I suppose, but when I took my book downstairs to read, despite the sunny day, the room was too dark to read in. It's such a beautiful room, I always want to turn the lights up a but brighter.
