Price was fairly affordable compared to many of the other hotels in Springfield. Room was adequate, bed was comfortable. Liked having a fridge and a microwave in the room. Within a pretty short walk from the Amtrak station, and I came in via train, so I could just walk over on arrival. Saved a taxi fare. Liked having a free computer with Internet in lobby for guests. Outdoor swimming pool was big, and seemed quite popular, though I didn't try it myself.
A few things: -- Front desk is not staffed adequately. The desk seemed deserted for fairly long periods, and no staff appeared even if the bell on the counter was rung or people called the number of the hotel on the phone -- the phone just rang and rang, with no one responding at the desk. One lady was standing at the front desk and told me she had been waiting for someone to appear for 20 minutes. -- There was no coffee maker in the room, despite the online site saying it had one. -- There was no clock radio in the room -- first time I ever saw this anywhere. The clerk said maybe it was stolen or defective and not replaced. Not good. -- It would have been nice to have some movie channels in addition to basic cable -- HBO, pay-per-view, anything. -- The location isn't ideal if you want to visit downtown, the government area, etc. It's a pretty far walk. There are also very few restaurants nearby except some fast-food places, and those are about 6 blocks away.
