We showed up at the office to pick up our car and the agent said that even though we had a reservation, there were no cars because they decided to send all of the cars to Cancun. We pointed out we had a valid reservation but he said that doesn't obligate them to hold a car for us if they can rent it at a better price at some other location. He said he couldn't help us and offered no additional assistance.

I arrived just after pick up time and was met by a rude staff member informing me that they have no cars today. After explaining that I had a reservation he just replied; "it doesn't matter there are no car today". So I had to walk around the other rental places and had to pay more.

They did not have the car I rented available. Then they charged me for the upgrade to the only car they had. Then the gas tank was partially empty. AWFUL EXPERIENCE.

You had no cars! I waited two days before taking a taxi to playa where I got a car immediately. It was literally faster to take a taxi to playa, rent a car, and drive back. Terrible experience.

Pick up took ages… When the contract was finally signed, after having to pay a massive insurance surplus for a limited coverage, the personnel did not find the assigned car. We had to wait at least half an hour at the parking lot until the personnel showed up with the car. Once the car was found, it turned out the car was still dirty and thus not ready for delivery. Another long wait for the car to be washed. We finally took possession, but had to ask the personnel to do some additional cleaning in the copilot’s place, as it was still dirty. Whilst I had agreed to a partially filled tank, after driving just a few miles, the indication jumped to a lower level, not really reflecting the gas tank level I had agreed to. The water tank for washing the windshield was empty, which we noticed only later. Due to rain and dirty roads we had to fill it at a gas station… Drop-off in Mérida was efficient. Car worked well.

Terrible. They had 0 cars available. I had to take a bus to the airport to pick up the car and they didn’t tell me until I arrived. They gave me no discount. I wouldn’t rent with them again.

We got a confirmation that our car was reserved. After waiting in line for about an hour we heard that there were no cars available. After insisting they could give us a car that was quite a bit more expensive. Not amused we opted for that, but it took them another hour to "unlock" the car in the system. We decided not to wait any longer and cancelled the whole thing and took a taxi to bacalar, which ended up even being cheaper. Horrible customer service!

Hi, I had to travel an hour go get to the hertz store in Tulum. One arrived, the representant told us that the car was no longer available and that hertz was not able to honor my reservation. Without compensation, the hertz representative told us to leave without a car rental, with is the total opposite of what customer service is. I had to take another taxi back to my hotel and lost mu entire AM. What compensation are you offering to your customer in these cases? Regards,

Car was not ready, had to wait till it was cleaned. Car wash quality was horrible. Car itself was beaten up from all sizes, it was hard to follow all cracks and scratches. Have no complains for staff in the airport tho. Was very helpful and understanding.

the online reservation and the car rental do not work together at all. I made a reservation online (boojed a car) but when I arrived at the car rental, they told me my reservation is worthless and they don’t even have cars anymore.

The car was great for what we wanted.

Cons:

The Avis representative in Tulum, MX was very difficult to work with at pick up and drop off. Avis offered insurance coverage at three times the total rental rate. My credit card company provides rental car insurance coverage so I opted to decline the Avis coverage. Upon drop off he attempted to find any way to charge us for any prior damage on the vehicle “since you did not pay for insurance.” We took great care of the car and added no additional damage (already had visible scratches and door dings in some places). It was over the top ridiculous!! I am still awaiting my final bill.
