Great location Internet was slow and difficult to use from mobile device
The rooms where nice, clean, bright... Bed was very comfortable ... Staff where helpful. The restrant food left you dissatisfied , tast was okay but not up too it's reputation ...
I loved the location--- within walking distance to downtown, Victoria. Nothing
super close to everything tourists do
Everything. Location was great facing the inner harbor. The staff was superb!! Food was excellent!! Look forward to staying there again! No, absolutely everything was excellent!!
Extremely attractive hotel with perfect location by the waterfront. Easy walking distance all over town. We enjoyed our room overlooking the harbor. Gracious, helpful staff. We were happy with the Courtyard Cafe, which provided good sandwiches, coffee, and dessert for low-key suppers. Island Time Tours, booking right there in the Grand Pacific, took us to Butchart Gardens and picked us up again at our requested time. What a very nice arrangement. When it was time to leave Victoria, we chose the Victoria Airport YYJ Shuttle as more economical than a taxi. The Shuttle arrived at the front door and delivered us to the airport comfortably and in good time. We were happy in every way with our four nights at the Grand Pacific and would gladly stay there again.
Bad wireless Internet - the only negative
The room was well appointed, had a nice view and the pool and hotub were excellent.
The room was beautiful and the beds excellent. Enjoyed our stay. Location was excellent for walking.
Staff were excellent location was excellent Curtains were torn
Staff was great and very helpful suggesting restaurants and activities. We were able to arrange A late checkout and keep our car parked. The location was excellent and there are a lot of nearby restaurants. We had a great time. Facilities are undergoing a major remodel. A bit noisy in the morning since they start early
Location is great! The hotel is old, outdated and in desperate need of a facelift. You are definitely paying for location.
We loved it!
The rooms are really beautiful. The facility is under complete renovation. It wasn't as grand as you'd expect. Although the rooms are super nice, I think for the price there are a million better deals to be had. It's slightly over hyped in my opinion.
Very nice room, very friendly people!!
Not one dining room open that children were aloud to eat! Overly expensive for what you get! $50.00 for a pot of tea!!!! Crazy. I guess they have the location that's about it!
This historic property welcomes you in the moment you step onto the property. The immediate attendance to your every need is immediately relaxing and makes you feel wanted. The location could not be better with the entire harbor visible form the front and every floor above as you exit your elevator. The entire city downtown is vibrant and easily walkable with something for every tase and experience.t The room was a bit warm and may not have had air conditioning. We simply opened the windows and used a portable fan form the oversized closet area.
High Tea at the Empress, the concierge was very helpful helping me book Helijet and bus service into and out of Victoria.
Location, location, location The room we got was ridiciuosly old, we had to wait two hours for a normal room which indeed was a good surprise. Staff was not always attentive and responding in a timely manner. Generally, we were expecting more from a Fairmont hotel...
Had an awesome time at the Empress for our 20th Anniversary. The people everywhere were super helpful and friendly. The location was excellent and within walking distance to so many fun things. The afternoon tea was enjoyable but definely over priced.
We booked a Fairmont Gold room based on another recommendation and boy was it worth it. The private lounge is spectacular, the concierges were all extraordinary (and made a big difference helping us maximize our 2 nights in Victoria) and the food and drink (including a fully-stocked honor bar) were fabulous. We felt like royalty.
Breakfast was fantastic.
Location and views are fantastic. I love these old-style character hotels. Not up to the standards of other Fairmont Hotels we've stayed in. They messed up our meal reservations and even messed up the correction, so we never did eat there. Some staff really didn't seem to know what they were doing or could even answer or questions properly and never offered to find anything our or get back to us.
Very good location, staff very nice. We found the bed hard and uncomfortable
Very nice, all staff was friendly and helpful.
The french staff was really nice, the room well cleaned and since we had a discount, we were very happy of the quality.
I enjoyed being close to the inner harbour. While the room needed a few minor repairs, the staff were very accommodating and pleasant. It was great value for the price. I would definitely stay there again
The location was great as were the staff. The beds were a little too hard and the building was showing signs of wear.
The location. I liked everything
Informal but very attentive staff, ease of check-in and the quick drop-box checkout. The location is great, downtown but not right in the town. The Westbay walkway along the harbour is great for a walk, jog, taking in the scenery. Our room was quiet, very clean and comfortable. The workout area is well set up, and the sauna was perfect for a mid-winter warm-up. we were surprised there was no fridge in the room, that would have been helpful.
Great room, excellent staff, shuttle service was fantastic. We had a beautiful view. Walls were a bit thin, we could hear people in the hallway talking. They sounded like they were in our room.
We always enjoy the quiet relaxing rooms and the front desk staff are superb They initially couldn't find the booking but took us anyway
We stayed in room 616 and the view was spectacular. We use the pool and hot tub. A real treat! The staff were all very nice and helpful. We will recommend the Delta to our friends and will definitely come back.
This hotel is remarkable. I am at the Four Seasons in Vancouver right now but the Delta beats it hands-down. The contemporary look is completely attractive and I've never had a hotel room so organized with a place for everything. Great food in the restaurant. The location is perfect on the water, and just a few minutes walk into the heart of Victoria. Also they have a free shuttle that get you to places you want to go.
ease of parking, fast elevator, quiet A bit out of the way for getting to the rest of Victoria. One traveller unable to walk well.
A very relaxed , very friendly and very accompanying resort All was great
The front desk staff were extremely helpful and friendly Our penthouse suite was beautiful, the view was amazing
Our room was spacious, clean and had an excellent view of the harbor. The water taxi stand was right outside the hotel making trips around Victoria very easy and fun. A lovely walkway around the harbor was right outside the hotel as well. The WIFI in our room was unusable in spite of high signal strength. After two days of making calls to Delta's tech support with no success, we finally gave up and used the internet in the lobby. We were unimpressed with the support offered by the staff.
Real friendly staff, clean rooms, breakfast menu was excellent, View from breakfast restaurnant was terrific, parking was excellent. We will go back again and again to this place! Very few carts to haul uggage to room. That being said, the front clerk called and had a cart delivered to our room very quickly.
The view! Cleanliness and location near downtown. Many rooms have no view.
I loved being able to walk over a bridge into downtown Victoria to shop and see the sights and I loved falling asleep to the sound of the ocean and the sight of the parliament buildings all lit up. I loved that the hotel upgraded me to a view room (for only a small cost) and didn't make me feel like a complainer because I was disappointed initially to not have a window to the ocean. The pool was wonderful and I would love to bring my daughters and their babies to enjoy the luxury and friendliness of this hotel.
The location was excellent, and the rooms, quiet, big and confortables. Breakfast was poor.
convenient location, very clean and great services. little noise before mid night.
Have been staying for years. Best value in Victoria. Always stay and eat in the restaurants too - especially important now as drinking and driving is out and my husband cannot walk long distances. We tell our friends! The walls are a little thin and the conversation in the next room was like they were sitting in our room. The bed is a little hard - could be a better mattress. Not really what I would describe as a "deluxe room" and if I was a new client I might be disappointed. We know what to expect so we are satisfied. Affordable does not have to mean "cheap". The bedspreads and drapes look like they are from the 80's - do one floor at a time and spruce it up - solid colours are better than old flowers. The bathrooms are fine. We owned a small waterfront motel in Qualicum and it was "affordable" but the rooms looked attractive. Like you, we had a faithful clientele - keep us happy.
Good housekeeping and front desk crew, all facilities working, excellent location, good value. I didn't care for the continental breakfast, but McDonalds istwo blocks.
Very inexpensive! Great Continental Breakfast ! 3 bars ! ! Right downtown ! Great Staff ! ! I've stayed 3 times, this time I had a room with 1 bed and it had a very small room. Last two times I had a room with two queens, Very large renovated rooms. I'll always get the 2 queens from now on.
There were three things that for sure will determine my next trip to Victoria: the central localization of the Hotel, the proximity to a nice pleasant bar and the quality / price very good for those who wants an Hotel to sleep and go! Hum, for more exigent clients, for sure furniture is a little bit used. And of course, minibar was missing, but for me it was ok !
It had a really good location and many different options for dining and nightlife. My friend and I really liked the rooftop bar/restaurant, although the weather wasn't really appropriate for the volleyball courts.
The proximity to the downtown area was ideal. You could park and walk anywhere. Transit was just outside the door if needed. Very sparse for room amenities. No coffee/tea, lotion, hairdryer etc in the room. Needed to ask for them, and then they would be provided. Quite small rooms even for a deluxe queen.
Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was quiet, beds very comfortable with down comforters. Pool was nice break for kids.
Beautiful decor, excellent staff in breakfast restaurant, good parking. Our room did not get cleaned on the second day, we did get clean towels and wash clothes when we asked for them. Wish there had been a small refridgerator in room. Coffee in room was awful and powdered creamer yuck. Room service for same was pricey.
An excellent staff -- all were exceptionally courteous, friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and pleasant.
Reserved a room with a king bed. We were traveling from Seattle via the clipper that couldn't sail due to the marine forecast. Once we realized our trip was going to take 7 hours via buss to reach the hotel, I called to notify that we would be arriving late and was assured my room would be ready and that we would have a king bed, not 2 doubles. We arrived at the hotel and no king beds were available. But then the representative said I could upgrade for $40 more per night and beaten down by the 7 hour trip I agreed to pay the fee. Then we get the bill and it was $60 + $4.85 PST + $1.21 MRDT + $3.03 GST. I understand that the taxes are what the are but should have been quoted them and the hotel should have honored the quote made on arrival. I was offered $10 per night discount by the manager but still feel mislead. As a Marriott rewards customer for years and one who has stayed at Marriott properties all over the world, I will not be returning to this property. The maid service was also poor. The room was not vacuumed nor were the sheets ever changed on our 3 night stay. Additionally when we arrived there was left over spoiled food in the fridge. Lastly they did not replace plates and silverware in the kitchenette and when we came back to the room with takeout, we had to eat out of plastic containers. I do not recommend this property. If you are accustom to Marriott service and hospitality, you will not find it here.
Price and closeness to the start and finish of the Victoria Marathon.
The support they gave to Marathon participants the weekend we were there. Easy access to the bus terminal an downtown restaurants etc.
staff was friendly and efficient, room was clean and location was good Restaurant was very slow. Parking was expensive.
Clean facility, close to ferry terminal and local tourist attractions, staff was super friendly and helpful, especially the doormen, there were plenty of towels and comfortable beds. Exercise room small but with enough variety of equipment. Wish the swimming pool had been larger, not quite big enough for lap swims, wish they had provided a changing room in the pool restroom. Wish they had provided a small fridge in the room.
We were able to leave our baggage with the front desk while we were out for the day. The workout facility was so nice to be able to use at any time during my stay.
Hotel was close to all Victoria attractions
Beautifully designed room, well-equipped facilities, and friendly, helpful staff. Would like towel hooks in bathroom
Clean room, not far walking distance from downtown Heater did not work all too well, room couldn't get warm enough.
Awesome restaurant Aura in the hotel.
The location was amazing and the staff at the front desk and front door were extremely helpful and friendly. We were here for the Goodlife Fitness marathon.
The restaurant was wonderful. The food was so innovative and delicious. The staff was very friendly and offered every opportunity to help. I would definitely stay at this place the next time I'm in Victoria. I really appreciated the fact that it was actually further away from all of the other hotels because it was quiet and peaceful.
the location is great. room are quiet for resting. I booked a ocean view room and end up a roof top view with very angle ocean view. The bell man help us get to the room, he also said it doesn't look like a ocean view room at all. Beside, the room very dated and furniture, carpet are all smell. So, I decide to upgrade to a newer building and paid extra $50 just for one night. Very disappointed the front desk lady keep emphasized that is a ocean view room!!
Room overlooked inner harbor. Very clean with very helpful staff. Restaraunt menu did not have enough basic food choices, no chicken for my wife but I did enjoy my sable fish..The room was missing a selection of glassware as only had 2 glasses for all purposes, also did not have a makeup mirror which my wife prefers. All in shall s nice spit to stay . We will return.
Big, comfortable, well equipped room, value for money, pool hours (open late) No hot tub, bathroom a bit dated
Only downside was broken curtains so hard to keep apt dark
convenient Location, nice restaurant, good coffee shop, friendly staff, cool bar, have to pay for parking
The restaurant - terrific
Staff was great Shower drained very slow causing over an inch of water to pool in the bottom every time you used it. Bed was not comfy at all. Room was a lot smaller than i expected.
We loved our stay at Hotel Rialto. The location is fantastic, it's in downtown Victoria and we were able to walk to pretty much everything except Butchart Gardens. Our room was clean and beautiful, the staff was helpful and friendly, and the food in the breakfast room was good. Parking was very close by in a reasonably priced garage (hourly, up to $12/day as of August 2015). I loved Victoria and plan to go back, and when I do I will stay at the Rialto!
well it is in victoria. loved the old building, and the satff was great. our room could have used an armchair to read in, and the airconditioners need work.
Very friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms. The restaurants downstairs were fantastic! The bathrooms had radiant heated floors, which was a nice touch.
Rooms have a contemporary look, well located and excellent Tapa restaurant. Space between bed and door is a little tight; however, the rest of the room is a good size.
We enjoyed our stay at the Rialto. An improvement over the old Douglas. Wonderful linens, coffee and wine bar in our rooms. the staff were friendly and helpful, making the visit a pleasant one. The proximity to shopping and restaurants made the visit an easy one. It is definitely worth a return.
its quiet, clean! none but my husband is saying that he was kinda dissappointed coz he couldnt find the channel for WWE - wrestling
Very clean room, friendly staff, great location
Location was great. Bed was not great only ok. Room above bar and noisy till closed. Since no ac had to open windows . restaurant had good food. Staff very good. So all in all ok only would find snother hotel if go again in same area.
good location. Friendly staff no air conditioning in the room!
Location was fine. View blocked by windows that were damaged and cloudy. So much for 'Harbor view' and bathroom tile was filthy. Floor under sink was really dirty. There was too much extra furniture in our tiny room making it hard to move around or even get to window.
Location was excellent. Staff was very nice and friendly. Beds were comfortable. Loved the solid surface floors (rather than carpet) in the rooms. Wi-Fi did not work very well at all. Kitchenette room was so small not enough room to even walk around the beds - much better when moved to a room without the kitchenette. Very loud on the harbor/street side.
Staff was friendly and helpful, gave us 1 hour late checkout without charge, free hotel parking for guests, great location The food at the main restaurant was not good and the service at that restaurant was mediocre, at best
It is economical but with all the amenities needed. It is in an excellent location on the Harbour. The express breakfast was an unexpected surprise and very good. We would come back to stay here when in Victoria. The room was a little warm and we couldn't get the thermometer to work.
Location was excellent and the room rate was cheap The room was noisy, I was kept up by a dog barking next door, paper thin walls. Breakfast was free and in the restaurant below but I heard one of the waiters say to another waiter about my order, 'don't make this a priority, we have paying customers'.
Room was clean and the staff was very friendly. Having a room above the outside bar and roadside was very noisy during the late night hours
The excellent diningroom and bar food
Rooms are nice, modern. Beds/bedding comfy. Big bathroom, tub. Front desk really helpful. I didn't hear noise from other guests, but it was mid-week, so that might be a factor. Turn down service. Continental breakfast wasn't included.
The room is spacious and furnishings in the room are quality. The distance from the hotel to the bus terminal only 3 minutes for walk. The hotel is quiet, good room service....
Enjoyed the food and ambiance at prime. The staff at hotel have gone way beyond expectations in making every stay fabulous. Would like a pool. Roof top bar and city transporting options(bike, hotel car)
The couteousness and genuine friendliness of all of the hotel staff was commedable. The breakfast that was included was fantastic and very efficiently served. The valet service was excellent.
Hotel Staff was very polite and professional. Location could not be better. Rooms are big and very comfortable. During breakfast, should be more waiters looking at the food that is missing.
i love the peaceful feel to the hotel. Each room I have stayed in was very quiet and extremely comfortable. The beds and linens are wonderful. All my needs are met within the room.
Small hotel with professional, friendly and helpful staff. The location is walking distance from most places in Victoria. To demonstrate how well we liked the hotel, the only thing that we remember is that they forgot to put bathropes in our room.
The apples were delicious and the Aveda products were a real treat.. I did not like the smell of the room initially. It smelled as though it needed to be aired out.
I liked how polite the staff were, and I was very impressed with my room. I wish I had known I would have been charged for the Global that was put in our room, tho the price was appropriate.
This is the second time we have stayed at the Embassy Inn. We appreciate the value and have to be back in Victoria in April so will stay at the Embassy then. I have not looked at any reviews. Most bad reviews are given by people who are habitual complainers.
Enjoyed being on the 4th floor with high ceilings and skylight Scrambled eggs were kind of bland Maybe some variety of sauces to spice them up a bit
It was quiet. nothing to say here
Helpful no-fuss staff. Spacious room. Excellent shower. Easy walking distance of most town sights.
Being able to park the car and have a base to explore Victoria on foot. The savings allowed us to have a spa day and afternoon tea at the Empress Hotel. The breakfast buffet had good variety and well attended. The pool area should have some lounge chairs and a bit more privacy.
Location Friendly staff Breakfast Clean. Good value for the superb local
the staff were exellent and helped in a friendly way.
Location Aged appearance
We really liked the location of the hotel. Close to everything we wanted to go to or see. Free breakfast and ample free parking too was a plus. The closet was only about a foot from the side of the bed. It made it hard to get in to. But all the plusses of the hotel made it insignificant.
Close to town Continental breakfast was part of the deal but all we got was two cups of coffee and that to not even 12oz! Pretty pathetic! There was no "gift shop" or "emergency supplies" offered at the hotel (you do tend to forget a toothbrush). For the price, I would have rather paid $10 more and stayed at a nicer hotel & I will do so the next time around.
the best breakfast and dining place I've ever been too. Very clean and best supervised. Food is always replenished. Never ran out. Definitely will comeback. Best location. Staff very friendly. Room is clean and comfortable.
Everything was great! One of the breakfast staff was rude. He took breakfast a little too seriously.
Fantastic location. Next to where you want to be but on a lovely leafy quiet street (one road back from the water front) The hotel is older but has large rooms and is very comfortable.
Convenience of shuttle and friendly staff.
Good access to hotel and rooms and parking. Pleasant staff. Recommend an upgrade new bed mattress
The location of the hotel is excellant, close to the inner harbour, restaurants and beaches. House keeping was not good. Used drinking glasses were n9ot replaced or cleaned. Coffee & supplies were no upkept. At check in we did not feel welcome, although he was not rude.
It was a very pleasant experience. The staff very friendly and helpful. We were upgraded upon arrival to a lovely king suite which was a lovely bonus. The room was very spacious and comfortable with a full kitchen. We stay in Victoria a few times a year and will now be staying at the Royal Scott. Also this hotel is very quiet. Something you don't always find staying downtown Victoria.
We liked the location and that it was quiet. We also liked that there was a full kitchen.
Just a short walk from Parliament, harbor, and all the fun of Victoria. Found several nice markets nearby as well. Clean apartment-type room. Very clean with a great little kitchenette! Quaint, cute, charming, nice parking.
THE clean and comfortable rooms and the friendly staff
Great location. Great staff.
Clean, quiet and convenient. Great hotel for the price
friendly staff and offer us assistance all the time, courtesy vehicle to go around the downtown bed is not too comfortable
The food was good, we only had lunch once but breakfast most mornings. The staff and kitchen staff were very pleasant. The curteousy car was a pleasant surprise and nice to have available both to pick you up and also to take you places. It is very close to the harbor and the ferry coming from Port Angles.
A comfortable suite is much better value for the money than a single room. Very clean and well decorated with neutral colours, granite counter... way better than a stark white wall. Bed was comfortable. Location is great, centrally located but not a crazy busy/noisy street. Great walking around James Bay and Fisherman's Wharf. I really, REALLY like that they take dogs too. The suite was super clean, no sign of dogs from other people which I liked (even though I have a dog)!
I didn't like how in the morning I tried calling and calling but no one answered as I had to catch a 7am and was told the night before someone would be there all night but when I called at least 9 times no one picked up until 5:50 am and all I wanted to do was check out and leave
Super friendly staff, and the were very customer oriented. Room was very clean and perfect for a young couple. Bathroom could be updated
Not much No air conditioning, view of the tar paper rooftop
The only negative for me, was the bottom sheets were not large enough. They would come untucked and you were left swimming around in a loose sheet.
Clean, great location, great value. Furnishings were dated,
Dog friendly and large-family friendly Odd that in a 2 bed suite only 1 bath/shower and that it is in the en-suite. Bathrooms also very small.
Location Very noisy untill 4 am----friend booked a much nicer room for a much cheaper rate.
Great room. Convienent location. Great restuarant with a great breakfast bar. I had to leave!
Fabulous breakfast, location very convenient for walking around downtown area and to Fisherman's wharf and Beacon Hill Park, would definitely come back for a family getaway!
Paid for ocean view which I assumed was Harbour view since it was extra and not the ocean 10 miles away.
Not much. Staff was friendly, location was good. Furniture was nicked/had holes in it. Air conditioning was a cheap portable one you could pick up at Costco. Staff got my order wrong, still charged full price after remaking it. Bed was stiff and squeaky.
Very clean and really close to everything !!! Bed made too much noise , not comfortable
Good Location with Friendly Staff Fitness room was too small and lacking quality and variety, Room was hot with noisy air conditioner. Conversations in hall seemed like they were always right outside door
The room was spacious ans we were travelling with a teenage daughter and we all had our own privacy
For a 5 star hotel with swimming pool etc there were no bath robes provided or available for going to & from the pool.
We loved this location and staff... Room was nice and comfortable with great city view.
We were upgraded from a one to two bedroom suite on the 17th floor with great views.
This is a well located well appointed hotel. Rooms slightly dated, but comfortable and clean. You will be centrally located to everything you want to do in Victoria.
Awesome staff and I got a free upgrade. Even helped with problem with car
Proximity to harbor Maid service - failed to replace washcloths and all pillows on bed
The staff was very accomodating. The rooms felt more like business class, rather than a comfortable vacation hotel.
Your beds and pillows are fantastic. At check-in, I had inquired about a complimentary upgrade. To my delight, I was informed that it had already been done. That was a lovely perk.
