Pros: We just needed a place to sleep on our long drive and that seemed to be the last town for a while on our drive back to KC. We were not sure what to expect as we walked in, but was greeted with hospitality, a lovely room and a great breakfast in the morning.
Cons: Creaky floors. Call the hotel directly for check-ins after 9pm.
Pros: Building is very old and quaint. Well designed and cozy. Rooms looked nice. The staff was very friendly to us, and we felt very welcome.
Cons: Bed matress must have been made out of solid rock. Train whistle is piercingly loud at 4am, as is the parking lot vacuum truck at 430 am. The last two items not the hotel's fault, but they affected our stay.
Pros: The location is possibly the best feature of this property
Cons: Very old, and in need of updating. Questionable cleanliness, old, stained bed sheets, uneven floor at ground level.
Pros: I've stayed here several times now, and it's always been very acceptable. The single story rooms look interesting, but I haven't stayed in them, only the main building. The main building is great, and Sunday breakfast was made from scratch (by their in-house chef?) biscuits and gravy; very good.
Cons: It would be nice if there were more parking out front. There's room for them to expand, and pave over some dirt area.
When visiting Cuchara, The Cuchara Inn is a great choice to consider. Guests can grab a bite to eat at the coffee shop/café and visit the outdoor tennis court for a workout. Other highlights include a garden, and rooms offer room service and premium bedding.
