clean, cheap, basic, no frills, but not needed if youre just there to sleep, shower, etc.
Good location for our needs, good price. No breakfast as advertised.Just coffee and juice.
The staff were excellent, calling us via phone in our room to ensure all was well and then responding immediately to a question we had. Great location and easy access to several gems of towns. Lovely view nestled in the Berkshires. Big room and quiet surroundings. Had a variety of cable channels. Good deal for money! The rooms are pretty dated and the bathroom fixtures were a bit quirky. The tub and sink are dated and looks aged.
From the moment we arrived at the Shaker Mill Inn we instantly felt at home. We walked into our room and the lights were on, music was playing, the electric fire place was on, and there was wine, compliments of the owners. The room was extremely clean and well-kept and full of little personal touches. We stayed for two nights and went skiing at Catamount during the day. It was just a half hour drive from Catamount and worked out for us very well. Our room wasn't completely modern and updated, but what it lacked in updates, it made up for in cleanliness.
The innkeepers provided a small bottle of wine as a welcoming gift, there is an electric fireplace for ambience and you can eat the provided breakfast in your room. There are games and movies available and the innkeeper was very informative. Also they provide robes, have a fridge, toaster oven and microwave in the room. Ice is in the freezer. The woman who is part of the cleaning staff (Kim I believe) was very nice when we were leaving. Unfortunately my elderly mom was ill at 2:00pm the night before from eating fried food and I cleaned up as best I could. Kim was very sweet and expressed her concern and said not to worry about anything. Can't say enough about the owners and staff. They are there to meet your needs and ensure that you enjoy your stay. Only suggestions would be to have a wall mirror in the living area so when one guest was in the bathroom the other could get ready outside. Little plates would have been nice for our bagels, quiche and other baked goods. Not major inconveniences by any means.
We were delighted with the suite accommodations.Until we located the stool, the bed was something of a challenge, but fun. We had a friendly visit from Simon who settled into the most comfortable chair in the room , and since my daughter and I both love cats we really enjoyed him.
It was a lovely stay. The hotel was crowded, and so a bit noisier than we'd have liked. Not their fault though. Service in the dining room and on the terrace was outstanding.
The location and proximity to our family in Stockbridge when I booked in August your site led me to believe that the room I booked at $135 per night was for a private room. However, upon arrival we learned that was for a shared bath and a private room with bath was $250 per night. We felt your ad was misleading or the Red Lion was not honoring the agreed upon nightly rate. We feel booking.com should refund the difference. We are not satisfied--we found bugs in our bed, and very mediocre room for $250 a night--we are seasoned travelers--this is one of the least appealing rooms we have stayed in and we love bed and breakfast type of rooms--
The Red Lion Inn is very old fashioned and quaint. The service was excellent andfriendly and the breakfast in the dining room was great every morning. Remember this is a very old building, the floors creak and the doors were a little sticky but I didn't mind.
It is so easy to be a guest at the Red Lion Inn. The staff are so willing to make your stay comfortable, the food is good and there is plenty to do and enjoy.
We had come specifically to attend programs at Tanglewood & maybe some things extra. We went to the Norman Rockwell Museum and two galleries nearby. We had coffee & breakfast in, picnic lunches, and dinners at the Inn. The meal food & service are excellent & my companion has food allergies. The swimming pool was calming and beautiful, even for my quick morning swim in a light rain. All the staff were so friendly and accommodating. The frosting was Simon = the beautiful, big cat that roams about the Inn. We were in Steves' House, not the primary inn. It turned out to be a delight. It is a half block away. There was a small, but fully efficient kitchen, with ice machine & coffee maker. The tennis courts were across the street. I grew up less than 45 minutes away, but hadn't stayed for at least 20 years. Old things can get even better with time.We will definitely return as it is a pleasant & easy drive from the New York City metro area, well maybe not in a January snow storm, but I have no doubt that there would be a smiling face at the front desk when we arrive.
We stayed in Stevens House. The rooms were very nice. We enjoyed the parlor with fireplace and big screen. The kitchenette was great and had everything we needed . The location is good for a nice walk around town or a game of tennis. The lack of a breakfast option. There really aren't many alternatives in the town either. We didn't have children along , but there isn't much for them to do in town IMO.
