Cons: "The flight was delayed by 15 minutes. We had well over an hour to go have dinner, so we did. While we were gone, they moved our flight to another gate and left no sign behind-just an empty gate. Nobody, including AA staff at another counter would tell us whether we missed our flight. A passenger getting on another flight overheard us and told us what happened. When we found the right gate, I told the attendant that they should have left a notice on the digital board at the previous gate. He became very effeminate and gave me a piece of his mind, since he had "personally" made the announcement. It didn't matter to him that we weren't there to hear it. That was our problem. The flight was delayed even longer after we boarded because of a fuel gauge issue, and when a few passengers moved about to use the restroom or get belongings out of their luggage, the female attendant on board scolded everyone like school children. We finally got home, an hour and a half late."

Cons: "I arrived at the airport 2 hours before my flight as suggested (especially during busy summer travel), boarded the plane, and waited on the plane for about 55 minutes for 4 people who were late to make the flight. This was announced to us as we sat down. I've only ever been late once on a flight (as a teenager) and the plane was still at the terminal but the gate was closed.... I was told there was no way they were opening the doors for me. Since then, I make it a point to be early and if necessary, have plenty of time between connections because of delays. I was shocked waiting almost the same time as the length of the flight for a few people who were late. They could have been placed on a later flight (I saw there were plenty of flights). Also, why trouble the majority of travelers for a small minority? I haven't flown American in a while because of other past experiences and spent a lot of time looking at delay history for this particular flight before giving AA another try. I am once again reminded of why I avoid traveling AA and why other people speak poorly of it. PS In the future, give travelers timely, honest updates so that people aren't siting in their seats staring at the door for an hour waiting for someone to walk in so we can take off. I don't know who these people were, how they were connected, and what kind of money they paid you guys but it was all around unprofessional. I know I wasn't the only unhappy traveler. Please get your act together American, you used to be great."

Cons: "The 7:00 flight was delayed for an hour and then delayed for another 2. Meanwhile, the 8:00 flight was called for boarding. It was very frustrating. Those of us who got in line quickly were able to fly standby on the 8:00 flight. I felt the airline did not treat us honestly. I believe the reasons for the delays were known long before the delays were communicated to passengers. (For example, there was a new delay announcement at 8:00 for a flight scheduled to leave at 7:58). Had we been informed earlier, people could have made alternate plans if they wanted to do so (e.g. Rent a car or reschedule for the next day.)"

Cons: "Even with being checked in, the line was so long to check bags, it took over an hour. I had to run to catch my flight. Several people missed their flight. It was an 8 hour flight, with cramped seating, no internet, no TV. They ran out of meals with exception of vegetarian."

Cons: "Booked Brittish Air. Got switched to American. Have flown both in the past & would NOT have chosen American. Now, we will not choose Brittish Air either, as we can't be sure we are really going to get the high quality of Brittish air or substandard American Airlines."

Cons: "When we got off the plane in LA from Sydney they told us our flight to Boston was cancelled, and the next avail option home was in 12 hours. We spent two hours with them and on the phone trying to work out different options to get home sooner, when they brought the flight back again, cancelled it again and then eventually brought it back. The customer service agent on the phone said the flight was on, while the agent on the ground said it was cancelled. They were all confused. Caused an unnecessary amount of stress and work. Would make me think twice about ever flying with American again"

As a result, our (2) originally selected, opposing seats on the aisle were not available without a fight--which we declined to enter into--and settled instead for an aisle seat and an adjacent center seat."

Cons: "Pandamonium boarding process. If you're traveling with elderly, you need to pay for priority boarding to help them get on the plane at a pace they can sustain. There was a bad sewage smell on the plane. No in-flight entertainment, not even music. Very unfriendly gate agents; won't even acknowledge your alive as they take your boarding pass. I hate flying American Airlines. Flying is lousy these days. American takes it to a new level."

Cons: "It began going downhill at the United Lounge, where I put two chairs together to get a little sleep since my flight was scheduled to leave at 12:30am. I was summarily woken up and told that it wasn't appropriate to sleep in a lounge. I complained at the front-desk (politely) and was told ... "This is a lounge". Oh and yes, the Wifi wouldn't connect and the food was stale ... so I left, and found a very nice sofa in the concourse. On the flight, service was non-existent, whoever was in the galley was clattering things about, despite the fact that this is a short red-eye flight ... the coffee was awful. The steward forgot to give me my coat and I had to ask twice AFTER we landed and were leaving the plane to get it. By contrast, Lufthansa has daybeds and a special quiet area to snooze, and offer pillows and blankets. Clearly, the Germans are louche compared to Americans."

Cons: "All of the restaurants in the airport have changed to this "high-end" bistros. No fast food anywhere except the premade wraps and stuff at the kiosks. If you need food fast don't try to sit down and eat. My sandwich took 30 minutes to come out. Food was ok."

Crew was not friendly and did not follow captains orders when we hit turbulence as some members would not remain seated which lead to head crew member to make a public announcement to the crew to remain seated and follow captains orders."

Cons: "Just got off a SF to Boston flight on a new looking 737. It was the worst, most uncomfortable flight experience of my long life. The seats are narrow to the extreme (BTY, my doctor tells me I'm under weight for my 5/7 frame), and the leg room is practically non existent. You can't stand up if the person in front of you has their seat inclined. Shame on you United for packing us in this tight. There are tv screens on the back of the seats but you have to pay for tv and movies, unlike JetBlue, where tv is free. It would at least have been nice to have the flight path shown at no cost."

Cons: "Upon arrival to Newark there was no gate agent available to check in with for the first two hours of the delay. In the air there was no food or drink service. The plane loaded at 1230 but did not push back from the gate for almost another hour. Upon arrival in Boston we spent near another hour on the tarmack waiting for a gate free up with very little comunication. I got to Boston 5 hours after I had intended to with no ability to give my rid from the airport any info for when I would be getting off the plane. The whole time dance moms rotated between a different show but must have come on 3 times with no ability to shut the screen off and take a nap. No compensation was offered in any way."

Pros: "The pilot was great. Understanding that all passengers were tired with traveling and the flight delayed he did everything he could to get us to our destination quickly and safely. I could tell he was excellent at his profession. Kudos to all the flight staff!"
Cons: "I was most upset that a bottle of tequila I bought in the duty free store in the cancun airport was confiscated by tsa in Houston. I know this was not united's fault but perhaps my discontent can be forwarded to the proper people. I went through all the correct procedures to transport this via a connecting flight and through no fault of my own had it taken from me. It seems like sort of a scam that travelers are told they can purchase these items and legally transport them home only to have them not make it through security at the connecting airport. I was not the only one this happened to. Bad form!"

Cons: "This flight was cancelled and I was given no notification. I was only told once I got to the airport. Luckily the staff member I spoke with at checkin was helpful and put me on another airline, but only after she tried to tell me they'd sent an email and said there were no flights til the following day. I had to explain that I hadnt been notified, had taken off work, had just taken a cab there, was 2 hrs early, and due to the nature of my trip not able to leave the following day. Though she was very helpful I feel it was luck and the nature of using a small airport, not something I can expect. Either way I shouldn't have to explain and insist when it was clearly the airline's mistake. When I later checked my email I actually had never recieved a cancellation email, just an email saying cancellation was possible. Overall another bad experience with United. Flew American Airlines and was happy with the flight."

Pros: "Reasonable amount of leg room. Much better that the flight out, during which all passengers were squashed in like sardines (and I'm a short, small-boned person). United should stick with this model plane and sell the other one for scrap."
