Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "Pilots and crew are still great- all negative comments have to do with corporate policy."
Cons: "Not able to social distance at all. We had to board a bus to get to the plane and we sat there for 20 minutes breathing in exhaust while we were packed in like sardines rather than the bus going back and fourth with smaller groups. The plane was tiny, so again- no way to distance at all. Seats at the front were left unoccupied rather than allowing others to move to them for social distancing."
Pros: "Crew was pleasant, flight went as expected."
Cons: "Only issue was being held on the tarmac for 50 minutes causing delayed takeoff. No other issues"
Pros: "The young man was so funny - crew!!!"
Pros: "Left on time or a tad bit early, arrived early."
Cons: "When I checked in, it indicated a smaller plane. I thought I was going to be in a window seat, instead middle. I also wasn't able to carry on my bag, had to check, and then wait at baggage terminal."
Cons: "You were out of earphones"
Pros: "The crew was friendly and the plane was comfortable and clean."
Pros: "On time"
Cons: "Reduce time spent on tarmac."
Pros: "Nothing. Door closed in my face departure board never showed it was boarding and I ran from my other delayed flight to try and catch the Wilmington flight"
Cons: "American needs to step up their device and the airlines should be punished for their lack of service If an airline vises a non weather delay there should be immediate compensation for passengers. No different than what retailers do to their suppliers when supplier is late delivering merchandis"
Cons: "Delayed significantly. When we landed there was no gate for us to taxi to. All around a bad experience."
Cons: "The crew, the whole experience,"
Pros: "Crew on the plant was friendly."
Cons: "I think at least some small food should be offer even tho it wasn’t dinner time."
Pros: "Seats are too close"
Cons: "Some food"
Pros: "I liked the ability to choose my meal ahead of time."
Cons: "Pre-boarding drinks could have been offered to all business class customers, but again, the flight attendants with American aren’t as customer service oriented as those from Delta."
Pros: "Seat was comfortable"
Pros: "No delays"
Pros: "The people working for Avianca were especially helpful and curious. We need extra help with wheelchair assistance for my wife."
Cons: "We delayed one day do to rescheduling"
Pros: "I didn’t like anything. I was stressed the whole time because my flight was late in Abilene and was going to cause me to miss my flight in Dallas to Portland possibly and I had to run through Dallas to make it on time."
Cons: "Our flight was overbooked and we were moved to a later flight causing a 7 hour layover and arrived at 2am the following morning."
Cons: "Being delayed"
Cons: "Flight got delayed by 2 hours"
Pros: "Premium economy was excellent service, great food, and nice wide seats with legroom"
Pros: "On tume"
Cons: "American and all other airlines need to improve leg room in coach."
Pros: "Absolutely nothing was good about this flight."
Cons: "An 8 hour delay to get from DFW to DC, after an 18 hour flight from Sydney. No one knew where the plane was and the delay changed from 3 hours, to 5 hours to finally 8 hours. The former, refitted United Airlines plane, with no frills, no electric outlets, uncomfortable seats, and the joke that is the "recline" position."
Pros: "We arrived safely."
Cons: "I don’t like having to pay for luggage or upgraded seats, WiFi. All money makers. Wish every airline could be like southwest."
Cons: "Three hours delay. I paid for a upgrade to first class. But because of the flight change i didn't get to keep my upgrade and I had to beg for a refund. I have had two trips in the past 5 days and all flights have been anywhere from 1 to 3 hours late. Worst experience with AA I have had in a long time."
Cons: "My bags were sent on an earlier flight so they were sitting on a different terminal and I was on a different one. At 9:30 pm in -12 degree Celsius I was waiting for a shuttle to take me to that terminal which was very unnecessary because it’s their responsibility to give me my bag at the right terminal."
Pros: "Nice crew"
Cons: "I booked a LATAM flight for a 10.5 hour flight specifically because they have better in flight entertainment. I arrived at the airport and found it it was operated by AA. 10.5 hours with zero in flight entertainment. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE."
Cons: "I cancelled this flight months ago, yet it was still in your records"
Pros: "Plenty space due to flight not completely booked ."
Cons: "No personal choice in entertainment."
Pros: "It was a larger plane than the first leg of my journey so I did not have to gate-check my carry on luggage."
Cons: "It was a bit of a bumpy flight during take off and landing. Flight was cold, but not freezing - tolerable."
Cons: "Flight delayed and the costumer service was very bad in terms of providing information to the costumers, I have called and there was no proper line to reach them at, I got my information from British Airways, as they were operating the flight."
Cons: "First hearing news of my flight being severely delayed I asked the ticket agent if I should just drive down to DFW from Lawton he reassured me that the plane would get there with time I had to make a split decision to drive down very rapidly"
Pros: "excellent from ticketing to depaning"
Cons: "We waited at the gate in Frankfurt once the plane was loaded for 40 minutes for the aircraft to get pushed back from the jetway . Waited another 25 minutes in Dallas for an operator to place the jetway to the aircraft. One of the stewardess we had was really rude."
Cons: "The flight was delayed hence felt a sufforcation the flight as well"
Cons: "Total incompetence. Navigational system broken, two hours on the tarmac, unboarded, then reboarded one at a time, then out to the tarmac and then back to the gate to do FAA paperwork before finally being over 4 hours late. And they don't really care. Very sad."
Pros: "Flight left on time. Staff was excellent like always."
Cons: "No outlets on the plane. My flight was suppose to have WiFi but it didn't work."
Pros: "The movies were great. Staff wonderful, accommodating."
Cons: "I absolutely hated the flight from pdx to Minnesota. Plane felt unsafe, smelly & generally scary."
Cons: "Bathrooms in the airport deplorable. Gates not so clean as well."
Pros: "On time and smooth flight"
Pros: "They provided tablets."
Cons: "They changef aircraft for an old one. Bc Seat really uncomfortable. Not dorect aisle access. No avod. No wifi. We were waiting 20min at the aircraft door waiting to enter."
Pros: "Got to my destination on time."
Cons: "Where to start? How about when I checked in at the counter, I asked the check in attendant to add my FF number on my ticket. They said they'll get right to it, handed me my tickets and sent me on my way. It never happened. Not a big deal, I can request the mileage post flight, but still something. Look at my tickets, that I had booked a week in advance and specifically reserved an aisle seat. My ticket says "Priority Verification," whatever that means. Turns out it means you don't have a seat, and you get the worst of the worst. So what seat is the worst? How about the middle seat in a row of 5. The middle in a row of 5, on a transoceanic flight... What kind of airlines has 5 in a row? The guy next to me spent $300 for his ticket, I spent $1200, for the same flight, and this is the kind of seat I get? The plane felt like it was straight out of the 90's, carpeted center walls, old seats, tiny tv's. Overall, a plane that felt had not been updated in decades. Took 20 minutes for a flight attendant to respond to the flight attendant sign. This wasn't during beverage or food service, just a normal time at cruising altitude. They also don't have eye masks. Every other transoceanic flight I've been on has them provided in the seat pocket, American Airlines doesn't even have them on the plane! Economy class has no USB or power outlets, the in flight entertainment is about a 5" screen in probably 260p resolution. Decent selection of movies, but you have to join the movie in progress or wait approx 10 minutes for the next movie to start. Legroom was okay unless you had one of the entertainment boxes in your way, then that takes up 30% of your space. Some of the tray tables do not have cup holders, on the top, bottom, or anywhere on it. Also my table was tilted, so every time I put a cup on it, it slid right off. Seems like a minor complaint, but eating dinner and fighting a sliding cup the whole time is a pain. Dinner and breakfast tasted decent, but you can tell American is cheap on the food. Most airlines will give something like a main course, a bread roll, fruit cup/salad, juice, small dessert. American gives you the main course and a fruit cup and that is all. Crappy utensils too. Overall, if I had paid maybe $200 for the flight, I wouldn't have any room to complain, but because American holds the government carrier contract for FY17, I had to fly on them at exorbitant cost, and would never recommend them to anyone."
Pros: "We flew with 4 different airlines on our trip to New Zealand and American Airlines was by far the best. We were comfortable and had plenty of good food and free entertainment. I would fly with American Airlines again."
Cons: "I can't think of anything."
Pros: "The only thing I liked was how polite and helpful the staff was at the airport."
Cons: "The flight attendants both seemed unhappy and we're not very polite. They hardly came through the cabin at all. It took a while to get anything. They mostly just stayed in the back talking to each other. The pilot didn't greet us. Just stood there when we walked in. And there was a kid screaming for most of the trip. My seat was broken and wouldn't recline. This was my first trip flying, and on the trip to Miami I flew with Delta. The service with them was tremendously better. I was really disappointed."
Pros: "Flight crew was fantastic. Pilot did a superb job. Whole flight was like sliding on glass."
Cons: "They could've fed us or least gave us more drinks when we were rerouted and stick in the Norfolk airport for hours."
Pros: "Allthough is was I bird strike, y'all handled the delay good."
Pros: "American Airline flight was on time, actually, early departure and early arrival. Crew was friendly and helpful, and I arrived safely. There was room overhead for my carry-on. And I got a great deal thanks to Kayak."
Cons: "Delay with out any real information or updates. Nothing done for the inconvenience. Will not fly American Airlines."
