Pros: "We paid $400CAD as a OneUp bid to upgrade to Skycouch. We then saw there was a skycouch row free on the plane, and I appreciated that they gave the first choice of this row to paying customers. So we ended up with two skycouch rows, one per person. Was a dream flight, could not fault them."

I was informed a plane was not a bus that I could hop on anytime I liked. When I protested that I had a confirmed reservation I was calmly told. “We canceled it because we didn’t expect you to make it.”"

The air New Zealand part was all great plane boarding etc, the horrible part is that we bought baggage allowances with virgin and they never transferred the information to air New Zealand. So there I am from the USA in a foreign country boarding a flight being asked to pay 500 nz dollars for a few kilos when I had already paid for it. Having to produce emails and payment information on something I had done months in advance. Overall I won’t recommend virgin next time I’d book directly with air New Zealand"

Food and the entertainment on the airline was good. The legroom between seats was OK because I am a female and I’m not too tall. As mentioned before the only issue I had was with the luggage. The only allowed one suitcase first passenger on the way to Karachi Pakistan. On the way back they allowed me to suitcase per passenger

I felt like the person was almost in my lap. My cup even got crunched. I think my biggest issue, though, lay in how I was treated after paying $127.00 to obtain a day pass for the lounge each way. For my inbound flight my purse was branded with an “economy” class luggage type tag, and I was made to feel as though I was trying to sneak in. I had to show my boarding pass a number of times to employees after asking for the location of the lounge in order to be directed there, and then my credentials were examined as though I was trying to get into Fort Knox. Upon arrival at the desk, I was somewhat tersely informed that I had 6 hours. I went out of my way a bit in order to fly Qatar, which is supposed to be so wonderful, and I was underwhelmed. I’ve had better experiences on Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines."

Initially charged $1000 for 3 tickets for modification of return trip - confirmed the same and tickets issued (i'm fine with this). But, after i made arrangements for new date, I got a call saying calculation error and asked to pay another $500 leaving me no choices. How can such a reputed airline have no tools to calculate the pay? Other airlines offered one-way for half of the price i paid. On top of it, online helpdek promised front line seat to satisfy me but nothing was offered even if i ask explicitly. Simply declined saying i am not in priority list. Why do they make false promises? Friends, Just don't fly in Qatar for food....."

Cons: "I booked this flight for my mum who has dementia. I was told o pick her up at the excess baggage area, where her walker would be and that she would be brought by staff there via wheelchair. After 45mins and no mum, I asked staff where she was. They said they were waiting for me at the gate as they didn't have enough staff to bring her, and I couldn't take her walker through security, so I had to go there and pick her up (passing 4 staff members with golf carts just sitting and waiting). luckily she wasn't distressed, but when I got to her, the man at the desk was then told over the radio tthat he could bring her down... poorly organised. Not the end of the world, because she was okay, but it could have been really upsetting for her otherwise."

Cons: "Boarding was chaotic - after having first class and preferred passengers board, it was a free for all for all other passengers, which doesn't make a lot of sense and caused a long line. Due to a malfunctioning piece of equipment, the plane was about 90 degrees during boarding and while waiting for takeoff, which was pretty miserable. Temperature was fine after takeoff. The plane itself was very old, seats were cramped, and the screens for movies/tv (and selections themselves) were very poor, which is disappointing for an 8 hour flight. There were no power hookups either, which my Aer Lingus flight a few days beforehand offered. Finally, the passenger in front of me put his seat back while the plane was boarding, making it a struggle to get into my seat while boarding and to get out of it to let others in my aisle out from time to time for the restroom. Can't really blame the last one on the airline, but it added to the misery."

We eventually had to rebook our direct flight from ORD to CDG to then ORD to LHR and then to CDG. Because of this delay we missed most of our first day in Paris. The flight crew from LHR to CDG was very polite and friendly! I will be doing business with British Airways again in the near future. I will not be doing business with American Airlines anytime soon. Neither will my friends and family once they find out about my horrible experience with their lackluster customer service."

Flight boarding and departing were on time, friendly staff. Arrived at our destination early with no problems.

The airport experience. Check in and bag drop at Adelaide airport was terrible. Security even worse.

The flight was delayed by more than four hours. We had to be at the airport 4 hours before the flight because of road closures for US Secretary of State. We arrived and got to our Sydney hotel after 1am.

I recognize some of these small children could have been suffering ear pain from the cabin pressure changes but trained cabin staff could have offered remedies for this. It does not explain the continuous screaming at cruising altitude. I recognize that JETSTAR is an intentionally cheap and nasty airline. I reluctantly took this flight because there was no quality service (like QANTAS) at the time I required. I accept the lack of amenities offered by REAL airlines like complimentary food, drink, entertainment and healthy legroom are the cost of cheap travel but I would have happily paid a higher price for QANTAS had there been a flight. I will not fly JETSTAR again and if no alternative exists with QANTAS, I will choose another airline in spite of my long allegiance to QANTAS CC: QANTAS"

We did everything right to make sure we could travel, just to be refused at the gate. Disgusting."

It was a carry on size they said it was over weight had flown with same items on several different airlines, Quantas, American, and virgin no one else stop me. If this is how they get the ticket cheap, just state that upfront. So I know and am not surprised at airport."

The chat was clunky and not compatable with mobile phone. Then they couldn't refund the extra fees I had paid for assigned seats - that is a "different chat site" though I was reassigned a Quantas ticket and given tickets that had us split up on that flight. They couldn't give me a booking number or anything like that for the Quantas flight either. I will just save the hassle and fly with Quantas next time. Unimpressed with JetStar and their customer service was terrible. Still out the refund money and frankly it is worth it not to have to deal with them again."

I tried multiple times but only ever got to the same check-in page. Figuring that perhaps I needed to check in first, I did this step only to find that if you pay for your bag after check in, it costs more money!! On the return trip, I felt wiser so I refused to fill in the check-in page before paying for baggage. I exhausted every possible link on their website and ultimately had to call customer service. This took an annoyingly long time. I was told when I tried to pay for a 15kg bag that they had run out of space on the plane and I couldn't pay for this; however, I COULD pay for a 20kg bag at a higher price. WHAT? As I was told this was my only option, I took it, but the logic defies reason and makes me conclude that their systems are simply designed to force you to pay for extras. If I had it to do over, I would just book Air New Zealand for an extra $50-- it would save me plenty of time and hassle."

We were also told that had we paid for our luggage ahead of time, it would have only been $60. Be very careful if you fly this airline. Make sure you know what is and what is not included with your ticket, especially if you use a third party to purchase your tickets. PS - All drinks (including coffee, tea, soda, etc.)are extra. Frankly, I'm surprised they don't charge for using the toilet in flight"
