Pros: "We flew from Anchorage to Boston via Seattle. If there had not been a delay in Anchorage, the flight would have been excellent. However, there was a mechanical problem earlier in the day with a plane to Cincinnati. Our flight was scheduled to leave Anchorage at 4pm, but Delta decided to take our pane from us and use it as a substitute for the original but nonfunctional Cincinatti plane. A ridiculous decision. The Cincinnati people already had missed all their connections, but now all the Seattle people missed theirs as well. When we finally got to Seattle 3 hours late (just before midnight), the desk agent said that Delta had no hotel rooms for us and also no hotel vouchers. We thus had to find a room and pay for it on our own. The next day, we had been rescheduled to Detroit and then on another flight from there to Boston. The flight to Detroit arrived nearly 30 minutes late, and we just barely made our connection. Had we missed it, we would have had to spend that night in Detroit. Delta did its best to keep the two of us together. On the Seattle-Detroit flight we were on opposite sides of the aisle in the same row, but that was in a row right behind a bulkhead, making it easy for us to walk over to each other. On the Detroit-Boston flight we were next to each other. Both flights were completely full, so Delta must have made some effort to keep us together as well as possible."

The gate crew keeping us updated is what saved the name of Delta. If she didnt do that people would have been angry."

When she showed up, she said she would not give seat assignments for another 15 minutes, so come back then. That agent said she couldn't give me a seat, but watch the monitor for my name for seat assignments, then come back. Why couldn't the first gate agent say that instead of giving me the runaround and wasting my time???"

I brought it to the flight attendants attention however she wasn't able to reset it. A 7-hour flight from NY to Zurich travelling with small children without the movies was not as pleasant as it could have been."

Cons: "The boarding on a connection in Reykjavic was the worst I've ever seen in my thousand flights. Customers were very upset wanted to break through the longest boarding line they'd ever seen. I was somewhat concerned for the potential of the passengers getting out of order. Safety became an issue as passengers began threatening to bust the line. "But, our flight leaves in 10 min." was heard again and again as we slowly meandered toward our plane for which we were over 30 min. late. Planes in Reykjavik were held up, though there was no weather problem, because of an overwhelming number of passengers trying to board their connecrtion. We were told this is common. On an eight hour flight we had little food available for purchase. After delivering the food we waited about an hour before the attendants came through to pick up the paper and boxes remaining from the food."

The crew closed the gate and would not let us board even though the plane was still there. Other airlines wait for passengers from a connecting flight. This is unacceptable and we will never fly Icelandair again."

Cons: "Good evening, I’m not sure under which category our complaints should fall on your website so I will include them here. To summarize our complaint, we booked our tickets on Icelandair through Kayak (and Webjet) and upon arriving at the check-in counter on December 2, we were informed that the baggage fee for our flight would be $95 each! Understandably, we were shocked and very displeased. Nowhere in our confirmation emails or flight details was there anything about having to pay such a high rate for our luggage. The first employee we spoke to said that your airline has recently started charging such fees to compete with WOW Air and as I said to him, I would like to point out again that this is the very reason why I never choose to fly with WOW Air: they clearly state that there is a high baggage fee from the beginning of the registration process and I know of too many other airlines who don’t have such inflated fees. This ticketing agent and the manager said that the level of our ticket (apparently called Economy Light) indicated that we would be charged this baggage rate. It is now my understanding that on the Icelandair’s website, these levels are described but no such options were listed or explained on the Kayak website or any of our confirmation materials/emails. It is the responsibility of your site to post these important details in a conspicuous place so that travelers can make informed decisions. We could’ve flown with Air Portugal for a mere $50 more and saved not only over $200 each but also the inconvenience and frustration. Upon the check-in manager’s suggestion, I looked up our flight by the booking reservation number (LCWNEG) and again, the only “flight type” shown was called Economy, nothing more. The same is true for when we checked in online and reserved our seats - there was never an indication of the fees that were awaiting us. All this to say, we were incredibly upset to be surprised with an additional cost of $200/person (round trip ticket) but then, to add insult to injury, not only did we nearly miss our flight due to the length of time spent at the check-in desk, once we got on the plane and we realized we would not be served anything other than water or soda - since all food/meals must also be paid for in most Economy levels. This was our first experience with your airline/website and I highly doubt we will ever choose you in the future. I know now for a fact that other passengers who have booked through 3rd party sites have found themselves in similar bad situations. If you choose to work with airlines and offer lower rates, it is only honest and fair to make your policies clearly known to your potential customers. We felt mislead and deceived as these rates seemed hidden until it as too late. I eagerly await your response and look forward to hearing what steps will be taken to rectify the problem and make amends for this unacceptable situation. Sincerely, Mandi Vermilyea and Judith Arp"

Cons: "too many flights landed at KEF at one time. the iceland customs could not handle all the flights at one time. it seems like the idea/plan to make iceland a primary stopover location was done without determining how many flights could descend on the terminal at one time. i was in a line that was almost all the way down the terminal. we truly were processed quickly - but it gave many around us a lot of stress over thinking they would miss their connecting flights. since i had done this before and the exact same thing happened (too many to process in too short a period of time) i reassured the people around us that icelandair holds the connecting flights until all people were processed. it gives a bad look to iceland and icelandair and i am sure could be remedied by changing some arrival/departure times. again, the idea of having iceland be a primary stopover to put them 'on the map' and glean the revenue from the potential travel is excellent, great marketing strategy - but is iceland air shooting them in the foot if they have implemented this plan without the infrastructure - please pass along to iceland- a country i really loved when i visited before this marketing plan!"

Cons: "Admittedly this is something of an airport issue more than an airline issue, however considering Icelandair is one of the few airlines servicing the airport in Reykjavik there has to be some level of coordination going on between the two entities. Regardless, 5 different US-bound flights were all scheduled to leave within 15 minutes of each other in the same small corner of the Reykjavik airport, so when delays started coming in due to weather that area became an extremely congested mess. Perhaps its a cultural norm in Iceland to just remain silent in times of mini-crisis, but the desk attendants made no effort to communicate what was going on to the hundreds of people crammed in atop one another in the waiting area. This led to a lot of frustration from the waiting travelers. Both of these problems could have been prevented by better planning (not scheduling all outbound flights happening in a quarter hour's time into the same small corner of the airport) and better communication from the airline staff, the lack of which really aggravated a difficult situation for the people there. Once on the flight, though, everything went very smoothly, and the flight crew was quite apologetic and professional."

American Airlines screwed us again. Just paid $300 for a rental vehicle so I could make it home."

I'm not sure how much of an influence the airline has on the airport part of it all, but the check-in process was good. The self check-in machines for AA were a little "buggy" and difficult to navigate but helpful staff was readily available as were the short lines. I am 6'2" and was impressed that I had adequate leg room in my seat."

Also it was tough doing transfers because once again, none of the departure screens refer to "Iberia flights." It was also tough to check-in. Instructions were not clear in terms of the booking number to use. The Iberia app had a lot of usability problems. The seats are too cramped. I'd have to take out a loan to be able to afford business class or 1st class. It's absolutely horrible for everyone in coach. Especially for long flights as this one. The food was subpar, but that is to be expected in my opinion. Would have been nice to offer complementary headphones. I wasn't able to utilize the entertainment because my headphones are blue tooth. Upon arrival, we had to sit on the tarmac for 20 minutes because there was another airplane in our spot."

HOGWASH! 1) it was another AA issue where an AA aircraft drive of the runway while I was in flight on the first errant leg. 2) if they had just been straight from the outset, I wouldn't have been delayed. I will never fly AA AGAIN!"

We do not all go into an all-inclusive resort! The only drink offered during the flight was plain water, again a step down from before where they also offered others, e.g. orange juice. Seating - now that big persons have the right for two seats for the price of one, when will the same rational apply to tall people?"

Everyone waiting for the bathroom was in my bubble. To add salt in the wound, the TV and light for reading also did not work. This was the worst flight I've ever had and I feel Air Canada put these 2 seats there as a money grab. No one should ever have to sit there, especially when paying full price."

However, that may be the content of modern TV. Access to the toilets were often hindered by staff, especially in the rear of the cabin. We were 45 minutes late. I was already booked on a flight 5+ hours later, which was nice. However, I was given a only a food voucher of 31CHF. The amount was wonderful, but they offered this at a time when I had already eaten on the plane and was not hungry at all. I could only buy a few things to eat or take with me, and the rest of the amount was wasted. Alternatives, could have been a partial refund, a visa gift card, an upgrade on my flight back, etc."

Plane was clean, bathrooms clean, nicely kept that way throughout the flight. I did have help reconstructing my import-export card."

With passengers waiting in the aisle to get their seats, I had a second to decide what to take out of my one carry-on before putting it in the overhead bin, and as a result, was without some necessities during the flight. Pearson is a problem. Flights from everywhere were backed up behind a single person operating in security, and hardly any AC personnel there could speak English clearly. The confusion & wait time pretty distressing to most people in line. I had 4 hours to the next flight so wasn't worried, but waited 1 hour in line in the airport hallway before getting in to present information to security. Situation at airport is not good at all. I'd try to avoid Pearson as a transit point if I could, in the future. The music channels were so distorted I couldn't listen to any of the offerings. Too bad about that, but it didn't ruin the flight. Arrival in Zurich was on time and easy."

The staff sat in the back gossiping the entire time and looked offended every time I came to ask a question or ask for something - they would get silent and just sit there, like I was interrupting an important conversation and so I even offered to get my own stuff. Ridiculous! What happened to customer service? The food is HORRIBLE! Worst food I have ever had on a flight, and I flew to 8 countries this last year, so that says a lot. I'd recommend only eating food you bring, or just starving yourself."

But enough time had not been given to the passengers to even get down the aisle before such a snippy comment about needing everybody seated was made."

After checking in our bags, we found out that the first leg of our flight is 2 hours late, so obviously we couldn't take the second flight. Looking at the TV monitors, I noticed that pretty much ALL Air Canada flights are seriously delayed. Luckily, there was an earlier flight to Toronto (which was scheduled to have already left, but it did not leave because that was delayed, too). The staff put us on that flight and double promised to make sure that our checked in baggage gets transferred to this alternate flight. The checked bags did not get transferred. When we arrived at Delhi, after an exasperating 1.5 hour delay after a 20 hour flight, the airline told us, and many others in the same situation, that our baggage did not arrive, and we have to come the next day to pick them up. The issue was, we were not staying in Delhi, just transiting through it. No luck, the airline said, because the customs have to be cleared at the port of entry. We are still waiting for our baggage. Oh, and if that was not enough, the airline allocated well separated seats for all the members of our family. I'd think it would be a common sense that people who have been booked on the same ticket must be assigned consecutive seats. But apparently Air Canada does not have much common sense. NOT flying with them ever again!"

"This flight was a mess. For almost 6 hours, we were told conflicting information from the pilot, crew, members stationed at the gate and United members online and at the service desk. We had multiple technical difficulties that were communicated to us falsely or extremely late, leaving the passengers in a state of constant chaos. We boarded our flight after a heavy delay, then we were told by the pilot that we could not fly and deplaned. Dozens and dozens of people were sent across the entire gate to the customer service center that was no help for over an hour before finally telling us our flight was still leaving and stationed at a new gate. At this point, we were all unsure who to trust but went to the then empty gate, all very exhausted and frustrated. We finally left almost 2 hours later, arriving hours after our scheduled arrival. The first meal options contained both wheat, something I was unable to previously able to request special meals from the airline, and the ice cream was completely melted. Breakfast 6 hours later was also lackluster, containing only cookie briskets and a small Jogurt."

Cons: "Wouldn't let me select a seat at check-in, meal selection only worked for return flight, and the airline confirmation number provided by Kayak wasn't accepted by United. Kayak referred me to Swiss Air's website rather than United's. The whole check-in process was a convoluted mess when I've never had any issue with other airlines. I'm a slender guy with broad shoulders and the middle seat felt very crowded when surrounded by medium build people. Didn't manage to sleep a bit on an 8 hr red-eye flight."

It would have been good for the ticketing agent to tell me I should contact United and give the United Confirmation number. Also the crew were somewhat tired and even seemed a bit irritable. They wanted as few questions as possible."

Cons: "Agent took an hour trying to figure out how to check me due to the connecting flight being under a different carrier. This is clearly something I couldn’t do anything about. kayak allowed me to book a flight and expect that no matter the number of carriers, there should not be an issue tying the connection with the other flight at the time of check-in. Because of the delay, my husband and I sat apart on am 8 hour flight and because we both were assigned middle seats, no one wanted to sswitch with us. The check in staff was very unfriendly and seemed stressed and overworked. United needs to ramp up on resources quick. The flight crew were very unpleasant. It was just the worst of all flights."

Pros: "The boarding was a bit confusing by having another carrier handle the boarding. It was a Swiss airline but we had to check in with United...? Entertainment was great, easy to use. Flight was seamless with no rough turbulence. Smooth landing. Very good experience in all."
Cons: "The food and comfort could have been better, not bad overall. The fact that the connecting flight info (gate number) could have been shown on the screen much sooner so there would be a smooth transition,"

Cons: "We had to be redirected because the plane's instrument landing system (ILS) failed. We were redirected to another airport where they had to make repairs and then fly back from Geneva to Zürich Switzerland. It made for a very long flight."

Pros: "It was generally quiet and peaceful. I called the stewards at one point and they were very prompt and attentive."
Cons: "Teeny tiny seats on an overnight flight? I had to ask my rowmates to clear the row so I could find my glasses that had fallen under my seat because there simply wasn't room to maneuver even an arm down to manually search for them. This is not to mention that most people sleep on these flights; how is that comfortable for most regular Americans?"

Pros: "My flight attendants on my flight were wonderful and so was the boarding crew at San Fran's airport to Las Vegas were awesome as well. The space I had on my connecting flight to vegas was awesome and the feature it had to charge devices were a nice too."
Cons: "The crew at the front desks and at the boarding area for my flight from Anchorage, AK, to the San Fran airport however, were extremely rude. The rating for the crew is a 2 because although my flight attendants were awesome, but the service given to me and to my fellow flyers by the Customer Service Agents/Reps at the front desk and the training of a newbie at the gate, when boarding at the Anchorage, Alaska, airport was terrible. They were extremely unprofessional and did not seem to care that the tones of their voices, their facial expressions, as well as their body language, showed that they lacked the manners and knowledge of compassion, respect and courtesy. Their rotten attitudes were insufficient at making the customers/guests of the airlines feel comfortable before flying. I did not appreciate being spoken to the way some of the reps did."

Cons: "United check-in at IAD was chaotic. Worst process I have ever seen."

Pros: "The attendents were helpful and nice except in the situation I've listed in dislike. The plane left on time and arrived early and we didn't have to wait 20 minutes for a gate to open up."
Cons: "I chose the back window seat right in front of the restrooms. Crewmember even said it was the worst seat in the house. Although I didn't pay to upgrade, thee were available seats up there. The attendant even said she would ttry to move things around once people were seate without anyone asking. She just knew our row was going to be uncomfortable.. I am tall with big shoulders, the gentleman next to me was large. All that I ask is the attendant come back after all is settled and explain that it wasn't possible to move things around. Although, if there were seats available I should have been offered a different seat. I have flown a lot on different airlines. I've flown on a 15 hour flight overseas. This is BY FAR the most uncomfortable I have EVER been."

Cons: "If nothing else United has been consistent in their late departures and arrivals backed by absolute lies about the reason for delays. Staff says one thing then Pilot says something completely counter. Then the lack of any sort of heartfelt appology adds to the insult. Every flight was overbooked by at least 5 people. Total incompetence. Moreover, United has made profit so obviously more important than client comfort. The seats were similar to a straight back Dining room chair except with your knees in your chest. They even took away the seat back pouch as a smal comfort to place items to be replaced with an 8 inch high mesh that fits nothing larger than your cell phone. A 6 hour flight and 1 drink service with 1/2 glass of soda. Pay $7.99 only to find out that video does not work through Canada which was the majority of the flight"

Cons: "After boarding, we waited on the plane for a long time before they said there was a mechanical problem and we would need to deboard while they fix it. After waiting another four hours they finally canceled the flight. They couldn't get us another flight and said to come back the next day to see if there is another flight out."

Cons: "I am 5'4" and had no leg room. My knees touched the seat in front of me the whole time. The in seat entertainment was broken on the entire plane for the flight. Simply won't ever fly in a plane so cramped ever again."

Cons: "Entertainment was not given freely, as if you didn't just pay 300 per ticket to fly on United. It would cut in and out just to tell you it wanted your credit card. The seats were so full the middle person doesn't even have room to sit up straight without touching shoulders"

Cons: "Flight was delayed leaving Newark, which resulted in a frantic attempt to make our connection. We made it, but the luggage did not - not a great way to start off our honeymoon."

Cons: "They canceled my flight, lost my luggage made me miss events in my life on my vacation and only comped me 20$ food ticket which is nothing in an airport. And I was stuck in an unfamiliar airport for 10 hours waiting for a new flight through another airline. Oh and dod I mention the bag they lost for a whole day was 50lbs of fresh Alaskan seafood and yes it all was thawed.... I will never fly United airlines again."

Cons: "The flight was not Swiss as I booked it. It was operated by United. It was over 45 minutes late boarding and over 2 hours late leaving. Tone of people were checking in at the gate and thus didn't pay extra for economy plus. There were loud and inappropriate passengers and the flight crew didn't do anything about them. I will avoid United at all costs the next time I travel...truly."

Cons: "First of all it was delayed, no big deal but once i checked in I wasn't even assigned a seat. I try to find an agent at the boarding gate and none to be found. They finally arrive 30 min before take off and then assign me a middle seat when I specifically picked my seat weeks earlier and of course was one of the last people to board barely enough time to search for a place for my bag and get to my middle seat in the back of the aircraft. Not even a sorry or any type of compensation for a terrible experience"
