So the questions are- why don’t the airport hold a larger inventory of parts, why aren’t there back up planes and why doesn’t the software better cope with these types of situations?"
Cons: "If they had noticed the first plane was extremely hot before boarding everyone and leaving the gate and if once they found a new plane they had bothered to put fuel in it during the hour we deplaned, walked to a different terminal, and reboarded. Also, if they had passed out drinks or snacks during the flight."

Cons: "Earlier in the day when I was checking in, there was a prompt to be added to the list of volunteers to take a different flight should one of my later flights (it did not specify, I flew from DAY to ATL, and then ATL to ORF) was overbooked. My schedule was accommodating enough that I selected yes. In ATL I was called up as a potential volunteer as they needed 3 volunteers to take a later flight that day. I was told that I was not initially assigned a seat since I had earlier agreed to be a potential volunteer. I was okay with all of this. We were told that the decision would be made at the end of boarding, and we would know if our seats were needed. At the end of boarding they called for the 3 volunteers to board. I was the last one to board and was given my seat assignment. Once I got on the plane I saw that someone had already been assigned my seat and let a flight attendant know what had happened. I stood on the plane for about 10 minutes while the flight attendants and other crew members tried to figure out what had happened. My name was not listed under any cabin (main, comfort, etc) even though I had a ticket and a seat assignment. Eventually they had to open the doors again for me to get off the plan as there were no available seats. Once I got back to the gate podium I was booked on a later flight, as would have been the case had the normal course of action for volunteering to give up my seat taken place. Everyone was extremely helpful in trying to figure out what had happened, but it was still frustrating that it had to happen in that way. Luckily I don't believe the delay caused any major delay for the flight. In the end, things worked out fine, it just seems as though this is an issue that didn't need to happen."

In getting to London, I was automatically rebooked, but with a flight that got me in 10 hours later than expected. I asked customer service about alternate flights, with or without connections, that might get me in earlier, but was given a quite curt, "that is not possible," and turned away. Even if that was the case, which seems unlikely given the multiple other flights arriving in Luxembourg from European airports earlier in the day, it was not particularly friendly."

Also when I casually talked about how I didn't get to eat before the flight she gave me two of the cinnamon crackers that are offered during the flight. This was very thoughtful and considerate of her. It was the little things and the attendants attention to detail that provided me an excellent experience."

WestJet discovered that it was an AA problem and returned me to the AA counter where it was resolved. Then I had to rush to catch the flight and missed any opportunity to have a decent lunch between flights. Then there was no food offered on the AA flight to Dallas."

New York to Toronto, Toronto to Edmonton and return. Not one single flight was on time! We got put in a Hotel - only nice part of the trip - got Vouchers for $15 each - such a low amount!!! Didn't get our luggage with our clothes and amenities to use at the hotel - had to sleep in our plane clothes. Spend extra money we didn't have... it was awful! We will be staying away from Air Canada for awhile!"

Pros: "In-flight entertainment console is pretty good"
Cons: "Departure was 40 minutes delayed right off the bat for reasons unknown and unexplained. Then, worse, mechanical trouble on the tarmack, we had to return to the gate and power down the plane, while still remaining on board, unventilated and unpleasantly sweaty, in the dark even for a while. What should have been a quick 1.5 hour flight and 8:30pm arrival thus became a sweaty 4-hour ordeal and almost 11pm arrival. Not the end of the world, but I was a bit taken aback at the absence of apologetic behaviour, like perhaps serving drinks while we're sweating on the tarmack, or heaven forbid, a meal of some sort considering we were departing later than we should have all already been home."

Cons: "Seats in First Class were not as comfortable as I would expect. Hardly any padding in the back or in the armrests. Didn’t care for the food on either flight. Can’t you just serve some good ol’ Meat and potatoes with gravy, a plain vegetable and a roll?"

Cons: "This is one of several times I have flown United, and been delayed at the last minute and then excessively delayed with no communication. Once we finally boarded we sat on the tarmac another 30 minutes before we started take-off process and only THEN did anyone tell us what was going on. We got the feeling the flight was delayed all day - would have preferred a heads up so we could have enjoyed more time NOT in the airport!!!"

Cons: "There was no in-flight entertainment option on this leg of my journey, which makes a four-hour flight seem long."
Cons: "We were not informed about the cause of the delay without asking at the departure desk and other carrier planes flew to San Francisco while our flight continued to be delayed. The posted time also was erratic both at the airport and on the app for the people meeting us. Luckily our time was flexible so though frustrating and inconvenient we managed OK."

Cons: "The temperature on the plane was awful! It was absolutely too warm and uncomfortable. On a full flight. Arrived early again, had to sit on the plane to wait for the ground crew and then had to wait over an hour for checked luggage. Again ridiculous."

Cons: "It wasn't until AFTER everyone boarded the plane at 9:45 that they informed us that " they only had until midnight to reboot their system so they HAVE to do it RIGHT THEN" then they informed us twice that it was "stuck" and "not working" our plane was supposed to land at 11:18 and we didn't take off until 11:00. My husband has work at 5:30 in the morning as well as my brother who was supposed to pick us up and they are in the navy so being late isn't an option. My brother could no longer pick us up due to the fact that we did t get our luggage until 1 in the morning and he has work in a few hours so we had to wait for a taxi and pay a buttload to get home in Virginia Beach. NOT PLEASED!!"

Pros: "This was the worst and most stressful trip of my life. Heard of Murphy's law? Everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. And did go wrong again. And again. It wasn't my fault or the people's fault, but an unfortunate chain of circumstances. And United personnel helped me deal with so many challenges and went above and beyond their duty. On the trip to Calgary my flights were delayed, I was denied boarding or the flight was canceled. It took me 3 days to get to my destination and this happened after I arrived 4 hours in advance for every flight, but the first one. I did everything I could in my power, but my best was not good enough. And so when my rental car broke down two hours before my departure, and I failed to start it, I took a cab to YYC and hoped for the best. And United didn't disappoint. They listened to me, respected me and tried to help me as much as they could. My leg cramped and I was not able to cross the hallway to the flight, just as the boarding was starting. The board agents called the wheelchair, walked over to me and tried to calm me down, just as they were wrapping up boarding. They then checked my luggage and held me by the hand all the way to the airplane,"
Cons: "Once again, the agents did the best they could given a set of highly unusual circumstances. Yet the flight was one hour late for a very predictable reason. In the winter it snows in Calgary. You have to de-ice the plane. This takes time. Yet, the airline treated snow as emergency and didn't allow time for that. One hour delay stressed a lot of people out and canceled their plans. Do allow for more time for travel in the winter. It is cost effective and leaves customers happier."
Cons: "Could not understand the announcements on the overhead speakers. Chicago remains one of the poorest hub airports to go through. Crowded. Small gate areas. People lining up to board need to stand in the walkways."
Cons: "We were at the counter 57 min before flight. They would not consider letting us on the flight even though no one else was in line. My father had a heart attack and i was trying to get home. Zero bending the rules."
Cons: "I had to take a different flight to make my destination on the same day. I landed 6.5 hours later thanks my original flight."
Pros: "Good crew on both legs of my flight. Airbus from LAX to Chicago was a bit tight, but Chicago to Norfolk was pretty comfortable (different plane). . The SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT thing about this.....and any other flight.....is leaving your place or origin and arriving at your destination SAFELY and without incident. For this, I'm always happy for an uneventful flight. Thanks United."
Cons: "You DO have to have the United app to watch any entertainment. This is kind of a downer. If you have WiFi on a plane, why limit it to just ONE app? Standard snacks and drinks so nothing special there"
Cons: "The fact that my wife and I were not able to check in at kiosk is a technology problem, and then we waited in line forever as United tried to deal with other large group of problem customers. Because if their bad service we missed cutoff, even though I had already checked In and we had no checked bags. We We were forced to pay for hotel our of our pocket, get another rental car, and change itinerary to have to go through Denver to get back to Chicago and arrive a full day later, causing havoc with work schedule and coverage for kids. Thumbs down United! I used to be 1K with you, this Is why I don't fly this airline often."

Cons: "Process for customs was not well explained (where/how to meet up with bags for customs process). We went through customs on the second leg of the flight with barely enough time to get through customs and then back through security at the Calgary airport. Our flight had been unilaterally changed by the airline due to too tight a connection but the new flight (much less convenient, had to get up at 3:00 am) was as bad or worse. We would have missed our connecting flight if it had not been delayed due to weather at our destination."

Cons: "When i got to Houston, the monitors were down, getting help from United was not easy, was passed off to many people and finally directed to the ticket counter. This was my first time in Houston and the gates were a bit confusing. I was in B area of airport for my tiny plane. I was told where to go with the wave of her hand and she did not want to be bothered more...got to the gated area and the agents there were way too busy chatting to be bothered. On my return trip home was better because i now knew the layout. I am sure my next trip will be improved."
