American airlines told me the same, ended up losing my money for the ticket purchase. i booked another new flight with another airline direct. worst experience in my life using kayak."
Pros: "The food and seat back entertainment were great, as well as the staff"

Pros: "Entertainment was great. I really liked the touch screens on the chairbacks. Food was fine for airplane food. It came more than I expected. Get sandwiches over the meals, they are better quality. A vegetarian guy had a hard time but the crew tried to help him out. Comfort was ok for a 13 hour trip. The chairs are not really the best and my back hurt after a while. Make sure you stretch! Crew was nice except for one lady. But she wasent rude just... non responsive. Other members were fantastic though. Boarding was very painless."
Cons: "Veggies and salads: gross - should have been blanched. Mid- flight snack was literally frozen. The meat had ice crystals!"

Pros: "Customer services was good."
Cons: "Seat was too small, food was disappointed."
Pros: "Everything was great their wasn't enough clarification as to what airline I was fliying. It said Japan air on my confirmation email but it would up being through American Airlines. The experience through American was superb but I would of liked clarity on such airline I was going to fly with."
Pros: "Great choices of entertainment that made the flight very enjoyable"
Pros: "Flight staff was friendly."
Cons: "Complainers. Shame on the parents who raised such pretentious a--holes."
Pros: "Crews are very friendly, thank you"
Cons: "My outbound flight to Manila had an overnight layover in Japan. I asked at the luggage check-in at O'Hare International Airport if they can check it all the way through as I had planned to go outside of the Narita airport for the layover. They told me I couldn't check the luggage all the way through and that I had to pick it up from baggage claim once I land in Narita. From there I had to check-in the luggage again on the same day. When I took my luggage out from baggage claim, I tried to check-in and the counter crew told me I was given wrong information. I had to keep my luggage with me until my flight the following day. On my return flight from Manila and another overnight layover in Narita, the check-in crew at NAIA told me I could check-in my luggage all the way through, and that they also allowed this at my outbound flight to Manila. The check-in crew at O'Hare International Airport gave me wrong information."
Pros: "The seats were comfortable. The flight attendants were courteous."
Cons: "The food was not too good."
Pros: "They passed out headphones for the entertainment early in the flight. The meal service was efficient and more than adequate. The fight also arrived 30 minutes early."
Pros: "Got to my destination on time."
Cons: "Where to start? How about when I checked in at the counter, I asked the check in attendant to add my FF number on my ticket. They said they'll get right to it, handed me my tickets and sent me on my way. It never happened. Not a big deal, I can request the mileage post flight, but still something. Look at my tickets, that I had booked a week in advance and specifically reserved an aisle seat. My ticket says "Priority Verification," whatever that means. Turns out it means you don't have a seat, and you get the worst of the worst. So what seat is the worst? How about the middle seat in a row of 5. The middle in a row of 5, on a transoceanic flight... What kind of airlines has 5 in a row? The guy next to me spent $300 for his ticket, I spent $1200, for the same flight, and this is the kind of seat I get? The plane felt like it was straight out of the 90's, carpeted center walls, old seats, tiny tv's. Overall, a plane that felt had not been updated in decades. Took 20 minutes for a flight attendant to respond to the flight attendant sign. This wasn't during beverage or food service, just a normal time at cruising altitude. They also don't have eye masks. Every other transoceanic flight I've been on has them provided in the seat pocket, American Airlines doesn't even have them on the plane! Economy class has no USB or power outlets, the in flight entertainment is about a 5" screen in probably 260p resolution. Decent selection of movies, but you have to join the movie in progress or wait approx 10 minutes for the next movie to start. Legroom was okay unless you had one of the entertainment boxes in your way, then that takes up 30% of your space. Some of the tray tables do not have cup holders, on the top, bottom, or anywhere on it. Also my table was tilted, so every time I put a cup on it, it slid right off. Seems like a minor complaint, but eating dinner and fighting a sliding cup the whole time is a pain. Dinner and breakfast tasted decent, but you can tell American is cheap on the food. Most airlines will give something like a main course, a bread roll, fruit cup/salad, juice, small dessert. American gives you the main course and a fruit cup and that is all. Crappy utensils too. Overall, if I had paid maybe $200 for the flight, I wouldn't have any room to complain, but because American holds the government carrier contract for FY17, I had to fly on them at exorbitant cost, and would never recommend them to anyone."
Cons: "I bought Japan Air but it was American air.. I'm not buy tickets any more!!"
Pros: "It was a very peaceful flight. The crew was extremely professional, and courteous, one of the members went out of her way, and frankly it was the kindest flight attendant has been to me in a while."
Cons: "The typical complaint you would hear regarding airplane food. Though, it does not warrant a true complaint of the flight."
Cons: "Taking away headphones 40 mins prior to landing is ridiculous. AA needs to abandon Bose or figure out a better way."
Cons: "We ordered fruits meal but the crew didn't get the request. I have a confirmation email of the meal"
Pros: "The crew were friendly. We arrived ahead of schedule."
Pros: "The crew was excellent, timing was superb,"
Cons: "Arrived twenty minutes late. AA refused to accept responsibility for this and compensate me, even though my transportation had departed without me as a result of their tardiness."

Pros: "Entire crew members, food, hospitality & aircraft !!"
Cons: "I couldn’t get my aisle seat & missing my Hindi movies.."
Cons: "Towards the end of the flight water started dripping on me. The flight attendant said it was normal and condensation and gave me a blanket. Unfortunately I still got wet for about an hour till we deboarded. The attendants were just fine, not very attentive."
Pros: "Not much"
Cons: "The food not fit for human consumption"
Cons: "See above."
Pros: "The crew was friendly and ensured I got what I needed even though I slept through most of the flight."
Pros: "The air craft seems kinda new and I enjoy staying at my seat watching movies. Generally speaking UA is not great service of all kinds of categories( service, food, and baggage service), but this time wasn’t that bad than I used before."
Cons: "The food became better but still the plate didn’t look a great meal. Personally I need more vegetables."
Pros: "As a tall american person i loved the amount of leg room and the bathrooms had a good amount of room in them."
Cons: "The seats where a little hard on your back"
Pros: "Movies galore. Pleasant attendants."
Cons: "Crying babies"
Pros: "The food"
Cons: "Pay for headphones"
Cons: "I'm 6'1" . The seats are too small for long flights."
Pros: "On time, not crowded, seat with enough space, responsive screen and good sound"
Cons: "The food was so poor I never had such a tasteless food"
Pros: "For a little over $2000 you get an economy seat non-stop from DC to Tokyo and back. Meals were good. As economy seats go, it's comfortable. Midweek the flight is about half to two thirds full. So you might be able to stretch out even!"
Pros: "Staff was ind and friendly. Generous"
Cons: "Wish there was better food. It was okay."
Pros: "Mostly a good experience."
Cons: "The WiFi and TV touchscreen were broken and some of the crew were a bit short with me when I was trying to order snacks and drinks during the flight."
Pros: "Flight attendants were very pleasant and helpful. Food selections were very good. Lavatories were well maintained throughout the 14-hour flight, which is very much appreciated."
Cons: "Movie selections could be a little more current, but the options presented were fine."
Pros: "Overall it was a fairly comfortable experience."
Cons: "The United WiFi was not working on my device. I could not connect."
Pros: "The food was good, the flight was comfortable, the flight attendants were friendly."
Cons: "There was a boarding agent at SFO who was extremely rude. I went to the counter to ask a question, and he blatantly ignored me. Finally, I said "I have a quick question," to which replied bluntly "What is it?" I then asked whether there were TVs on the flight, and he just said "No" and turned his back to me. Extremely rude."
Pros: "ANA: Flight attendents very nice"
Cons: "ANA: Seat was uncomfortable for a seven hour flight....Could not totally recline ANA: Food was very basic--not a business class meal"
Pros: "Great flight and crew"
Pros: "The crew at the gate as well as the crew on the plane were excellent and very helpful. The gate crew made rerouting very easy."
Cons: "The 3 hour delay made for an exceptionally long trip. Delays are so very common on United; especially when connecting through O'Hare."
Pros: "great service from flight attendant Angela and Asian crew."
Pros: "Boa 're ding good"
Cons: "Lights on in plane all time american keeps lights dim so people rest"
Pros: "Hostesses came around often"
Cons: "I don't know if I can ding ANA though I paid for a ANA flight and got an entirely United flight. The media was rather old and the screen looked like it hadn't been updated since they got a touch screen, which didn't work all that well. The food was terrible. Only beer and wine was complementary."
Cons: "Food was not good"
Pros: "Coffe and snack"
Cons: "I coudnt make an on line checked in, and i called i asked for aisle seats the gurl said yes and its checked in but when i recieved the boarding pass it was middle seat and the worst seat ever at the emergency seat, it was really small the food was terrible service was so bad ! No more united airlines for long flights."
Pros: "The gate at the Chicago airport was well designed. There was a line for each boarding group, and you could line up early. This is particularly effective for some Asian flights, which can sometimes be chaotic with many different nationalities all lining up."
Cons: "One of the fight attendants answered no to moving to an empty seat saying it was an Economy Plus seat but in less than 3 minutes another passenger freely occupied that seat. Really?"
Pros: "Ticket price"
Cons: "Long layover"
Pros: "The crew was doing their work well."
Cons: "At the boarding gate over 30 people were in line to get a seat number. I thought I had successfully selected my aisle seat online but was arbitrarily given a middle seat. I tend to use the washroom often. I had to climb over a sleeping passenger many times, without waking him up. One gentleman had some serious problems there but it was clear he was not getting any resolution. he was obviously very very frustrated. Syrupy sweet noodles?"
Pros: "Nah, sorry I don't have any special for the flight!"
Cons: "The United flight so far was a terrible experience for me. the food is so salty and so little!! I am a person who love to eat so much, but the food (noodle) was very bad, I didn't finish it. The ice-cream at first I'm so excited and the taste very good! However, it been already melted so... I'm so disappointing. There is no entertainment on plane... I'm so boring"
Pros: "I made it to Thailandafter 2 flights only to be told iIccouldn'tenter without Thai visa. iIwas sent back and forced to use my flight back. Staff was horrible in Thailand"
Pros: "the japanese speaking flight attendant was exellent! she was very observant to passengers needs. i was also pleasantly surprised by the entertainment system."
Cons: "there was a flight delay due to maintenance, which was inconvenient."
Pros: "Economy Plus seating was quite comfortable. Movie and TV selection options provided wide variety which gave me an opportunity to view several titles on my wish list."
Cons: "The menu card did not provided selections for this flight and the crew description was very broad - pasta or noodles. For example, "ravioli with marinara sauce or chow mein with vegetables" would have been more helpful."
Pros: "Computerised and self check-in was good and fast."
Cons: "Require united app on smartphone or tablet. Don't expect personal screen as its not available. Unfriendly crew and food was bad."
Pros: "Was pleasantly surprised by leg room in coach"
Cons: "More water needs to be offered more often"
Cons: "I had an upgraded complementary first class ticket, that was not honored by the staff at the airplane gate."
Cons: "Cramped and overcrowded"
Pros: "Regardless of product, the 787 is by far the most comfortable aircraft in the sky. Obviously you can't compare UA Economy to EY's "Residence" on the 380, but once you're comparing similar products across different aircraft, the 787 blows all the others out of the water. This is because of the higher cabin pressure, higher cabin humidity, and relatively enormous windows at eye level. Even UA can't ruin the 787 experience with their snippy staff (I almost found myself apologizing for asking for the little bag of snack mix that I missed out on because I was snoozing when they first came around) and ear-splitting announcements. The flight was delayed due to a mechanical, and the staff at NRT was very helpful in getting us to where we needed to be."
Cons: "The plane had a mechanical issue that they had to sort out after we pushed back. This was not so bad, but they changed their minds about whether we would take the original plane or switch to a second 787 that had flown in on NRT-DEN so many times I lost count. This is why I gave the "boarding" process poor marks--please just figure out whether we need to get off (we didn't need to, but did anyway) and whether we are going to switch to another aircraft before letting everyone off. The staff at NRT failed to consider moving the DEN-HKG passengers to a ET NRT-HKG flight (which surely had available seats) that was parked next door. Instead, we were all put on a HND-HKG flight leaving about five hours later than the ET flight."
Pros: "Everyone was nice"
Cons: "Very poor food to compare with Delta and United fed us only twice but it was 14h flight"
Pros: "-- friendly crew"
Cons: "-- small screen for seat back entertainment, but it was adequate."
Pros: "Very friendly and helpful crew. Very typical of an Asian airline. Thank you!"
Cons: "The vegetarian meal was pretty bad..."
