Considering my wife and I were already at the airport, we had no choice but to pay for our checked bags – resulting in almost $380 in luggage fees for our round trip flights. This restriction was buried on the ticket purchase information – a very sneaky move that cost us significantly. Won't be flying TAP Air Portugal again!"

Cons: "There was a hefty charge to reserve seats which wasn’t clearly mentioned on the Justfly website. Knee room was the tightest I’ve had on a commercial flight. The seats barely reclined which is important on an overnight flight."

Cons: "We had to pay $200 each way to check in a luggage and just pick regular seats. That was not clear when we bought tickets. Additionally, they don't announce the gate until 30min before boarding. If you're going through passport control that can be a 45min process. On top of that even though I paid $100 to reserve seats, when we arrived at the gate the seats we reserved weren't reserved. Why did I just pay $100?! Luckily I had receipts. Our connecting flight was delayed 4 hours, making our layover 7 hours! For an hour flight. This is the worst airline."
Cons: "I don't think I have ever rated any service negatively, but here's my first. TAP completely ruined my birthday trip that I have saved up for a long time for. DO NOT TRAVEL WITH THEM! I had a valid Schengen tourist visa issued by the Consulate of Portugal. At the time of visa issuance, the printer of the Consulate was not functioning, so part of the visa information was hand-written, but it was properly signed and stamped. The Consulate told me it's valid and said they have been doing so for ten years. The Consulate also said that they, not the airlines, have the sole authority to determine the validity of the visa. When I went to the airport to check in with TAP, TAP staff denied me boarding because they did not believe my visa was valid. I only learned later that this action was inconsistent with TAP's own internal policies. The staff at the kiosk told me that I could either ask for a refund or rebooking of the ticket. But when I called TAP the next day, I was told I could not get a refund even though they should not have denied me boarding. I called TAP many times and got a different answer each time. They simply refuse to compensate me for their own mistake. It's the most horrible travel experience I've ever had!"

Cons: "My flight arrived late, apparently, as myself and people on two other connecting tap flights all deplaned after our respective boarding calls had begun. There was no announcement for people with tight connections or about what to do if we couldn't make them. That tap didn't plan out sufficient connection times for the conditions of the airport, and that it was security, not to itself, that did anything to try to expedite is through passport control, etc was disappointing and resulted in several extra hours stuck in the airport for me and for those on one of those other missed flights having to wait overnight for another seat"
Cons: "Our flight leaving Boston was delayed by 2 hours due to a mechanical issue. So, we missed our connection in Lisbon to Venice (our final destination). We were rerouted from Lisbon to Rome and then to Venice, turning our 2 leg journey into a 3 leg flight. We were offered just 16 euros worth of food vouchers for our trouble. We asked for lounge access because missing our connection meant we had to cool our heels in the Lisbon airport for 3 hours until our flight to Rome took off. We were told we'd have to pay for the lounge! Then, our flight to Rome was delayed. We stood at the gate for 40 minutes past boarding time. No staff even announced that the plane was delayed or how long we should expect to wait. When we finally got to Rome, we had 10 minutes to make our connection to Venice. We lost an entire day in Venice."

From the customer service to the services provided and the legroom on the flight -- everything was more than what we expected and we would consider flying TAP Portugal again."

They made me a check my carry on bag because it was over small mediocre weight requirement even though lots of people had heavier bags. Then they LOST that bad for 2 days and it was a nightmare getting it back in another country. The second leg, a person whose bag was on board was unaccounted for, so we were delayed again."

Cons: "Boarding in Casa Blanca was incredibly disorganized and lengthy, with no communication from airline staff to help alleviate the chaos. We left one hour late. When we arrived at JFK we spent 1.5 hours on the tarmac waiting for a gate. There was no communication from airline staff explaining the delay or any attempt to minimize our discomfort- (provide water for example). Once we disembarked, we waited more than 2 hours for our luggage. After an hour, an airline staff explained the delay and then disappeared. She was remarkably defensive and unsympathetic. I understand that weather conditions u in NY contributed to some of this, but the lack of communication by airline staff was unconscionable. Also the food was terrible."

Pros: "The crew staff is simple rude. After I boarded the plane, I found out that I had my period, which was more than one week of my anticipated date. I travel almost every month domestically and internationally, and I had my period when flying before, and all the airlines have tampons or pads, even including United (which had a bad customer rating last year because of the incident). However, when I talked to the staff, first of all nobody understood what period, tampons, or pads mean since there is not a single English speaker, and this is a flight to NYC!!!! When I tried to describe them my problem, they simply dismissed me saying they could not understand me and passed me around from staff to staff until finally some kind traveller offered to translate. Then the rude staff members told me that they did not have anything and this is my own problem.They were completely unsympathetic and their attitude was horrible. I had to end up stack a thick pile of toilet paper in the underwear to prevent staining my clothes."

The crew was friendly even though their english was quite hard to understand on the PA system. What I do like is that the crew does not sit there badgering you about cell phones and the like. Boarding could definitely be improved. It is like one huge gaggle of people when they ask to board. At least the flight operates on time."
Pros: "Our flight was cancelled and no notice given. We were treated like a dog when we tried to get help from the RAM supervisor. I've been try for a week now to get a cancellation letter from the airlines so my travel insurance will rememburse me the extra $1800 I had to spend on new flights to get home. I was told by the airlines they may look at my case sometime in the next 30 days to give me the letter I need. Really! All you have to do is hit a key on your computer to kick one out. Never again with these guys!"

Then eventually when you get someone, they tell you it's your responsibility to go to the various airports and check for your luggage. My 1 month vacation was ruined as a result bc I lost some priceless items and my IT lab workbook which I needed crucially for some work. On my way back thru Morocco, I was told at the airport to go to their main office in down town casablanca. Then here in the US, getting told different things only to end uo with a 1800 number that no one picks up. Horrid customer service!"
Cons: "We were denied boarding passes when we arrived *before* the boarding desk closed according to the Air Maroc website (45-50 minutes before take-off) but *after* the local employees like to close the desk (60 minutes). None of the employees denied what was on the website, or that we were there 56 minutes before the flight took off. They nevertheless would not let us check in, and our vacation was ruined. We had to buy last-minute flights to avoid missing our trans-atlantic return home. We received zero compensation, nor any acknowledgement that they had wronged us, but the next day the changed the website! Filing a dispute, but I assume it will be ignored."
