Pros: "I managed to slip ahead a couple of rows into what I guess was a slightly upgraded seating area. This resulted in my flight being very nice. But had I not been able to pull off this minor theft, I think it would have been miserable. Sitting up straight, without the seat ahead of me reclined, my knees touched the back fo the seat in front of me. It felt like I was sitting at a table in a kindergarten classroom, not a chair meant for an adult. In the upgraded seat I was very comfortable. Staff on board was friendly and helpful throughout the flight."
Cons: "I haven't flown American Airlines in quite a while and one gets quite spoiled flying on Emirates or Qatar or Singapore or Norwegian or whatever other airlines. It's easy to forget how utterly mediocre AA is. The food isn't great, the air quality on the flight is terrible and leaves you feeling oily. They don't air-condition the plane until after everyone is boarded so the whole process is hot, sweaty, and unpleasant. Many of the staff are flat out rude to people (I was never on the receiving end, but I overheard what I considered very abrasive tones to others). And so on. Ideally I'd fly on other airlines I think."

Cons: "Seat 2L Rocked back-and-forth every time person in seat 1L moved. This was a day flight from Chicago to London so I wasn’t sleeping. I could see if you were sleeping and had to deal with all the seat movement it would not be ideal."

Cons: "My wife and grandson got bumped from first class to business. This was my grandsons first transatlantic in first class so I was livid. I booked the ticket with the most miles and had their seat assignment since March and was checked in with a boarding pass at first point of departure. Seeing your grandsons enjoy their or not is priceless"

Cons: "AA has nine boarding groups, which queue up in two lanes. Each of the two lanes hold about 5 people, at most. This is ridiculous. It creates enormous crowds of people jockeying to be near the tiny lanes for when their number is called 5 or 10 minutes down the line. AA needs to reduce the number of boarding groups, lengthen the lanes, and provide more of them. No other airline boards this way. That's because this boarding method is stupid. Unsurprisingly, our plane took off late because they couldn't get everyone boarded in time."

Pros: "Comfortable seats, for the most part friendly crew, with one exception. Flight left right on time and landed with no extra time to taxi. That was a welcomed benefit."
Cons: "No wifi on plane and no individual tv's for movie selections. Also had to pay extra for an aisle seat. Could not select seat at time of purchase. Didn't know if I called Iberia or American to make seat selection. Confusing with two different flight numbers. One from Iberia and one from American. Passengers should be made aware of which airline they are flying on at time of purchase."

Pros: "The food and drink were abundant and served at a decent pace. The boarding seemed quick and I was able to get to my seat quickly."
Cons: "I had a 2 hour layover to switch from my BA flight to my American Airlines flight in Heathrow, but since I, and every other AA passenger had to wait in line to reprint my boarding pass to an AA boarding pass after we had taken the bus to the terminal, I waited about 45 minutes in that line. Then we had to go through security again. By the time I made it to my gate the flight said it was "closing." We took off about 15 minutes after that. The "hot box" snack had goat cheese and I'm not a fan."

Pros: "I booked a codeshare ticket through Alaska Airlines reward program. I was worried I'd be shafted when it came to seats. Not so. I had the row to myself on both flights and just 2 rows shy of first class! Very impressed."

Pros: "I was flying with 2 children on my own and had an issue booking seats together, the gate agents worked to find a solution when we arrived and we were all seated together. Thank you so much for keeping us all together, as my one child has aspbergers and the other is only 8 and we are not frequent flyers. I highly recommend your airline to everyone I meet. Everything met or exceeded our needs. Thank you so very much."

Pros: "The PWM airport, ALMOST makes air travel tolerable. Great little airport. Crew was pleasant, Seemed to enjoy their work. That, alone makes a huge difference in an industry that truly doesn't put customer service anywhere NEAR the top of the priority list."

Pros: "Again the wheel chair attendant was helpful, patient and considering we were not feeling well, assisted us at customs. We are seasoned travelers and this is not usually how our travels usually go. We appreciated the wheelchair services, the flight attendants."

Cons: "The in-flight entertainment choices were lame. I suppose most people sleep on long flights. The food was not great. Mostly edible if you're really hungry. There was not enough room for everyone to put a carry on in an overhead bin. Luckily, I'm short and I keep mine under the seat."

They did put us in a hotel and pay for our meals, so that was good, but it was still several hours in line and a big inconvenience. The $30 off coupon for a future Avianca flight is pointless since we live in the US and don't plan to be back in Peru anytime soon. I free ticket or at minimum an upgrad on any star alliance partner would have been appreciated."

Cons: "For an airline that has been around as long as they have, their customer service is lacking signicantly. Communication was lacking to the passengers. As far as helpful, I cannot say they I witnessed anyone being helpful or trying to make a pleasant experience. The flight attendants seemed lacking in knowledge, friendliness, consideration, or empathy."

Cons: "Why would United use a 757 when they know that if the plane is full and there is a strong headwind that the fuel capacity won't get them to their destination! Of course this happened to me. We were diverted to Newfoundland to refuel (after spending 3 hours sitting on the tarmac while the captain arranged to redirect). THEN... the flight crew had been working too long and they had to send another crew which took 4 extra hours. 17 hours from Lisbon to Newark is unacceptable! It could have all been avoided with a larger plane."

Cons: "The Overnight flight I had was EXTREMELY uncomfortable. Too uncomfortable to even sleep at all. The seating is so tight, I could barely move my legs when the seat in front of me was reclined (and I am tiny!) I landed after my connecting flight was already boarded, causing an employee from the airline to announce my name over the intercom on the plane and tell the passengers to "clear a lane for me." I ran with my suitcase over my head, bumping into people and making it to my next gate...where I was told there was ABSOLUTELY NO ROOM for my carry on...which was also, very tiny. I specifically did not want to check my bag because I needed to immediately hop off the plane to make it to work on time. Another customer was VERY upset about having to check his bag and was pulled aside. I finally was told I needed to check my bag at the gate to get on. So i did. As I entered the plane, about half of it was COMPLETELY empty with PLENTY of room. I was floored. About 10 minutes later, the very angry man happily entered with his carry on and stored it easily in the overhead bin. My frustration was at a peak. But I said nothing. When I arrived to Newark, I rushed to baggage claim and guess what? After 30 minutes of waiting, my bag never showed up. I had to check in with information and finally found it. But this caused to me to be late for work. I have usually had a great experience with United. But this experience has changed my mind completely and am very upset."

Pros: "The best time to fly a particular airline is right after they've been in the news with bad publicity. Every single personnel was attentive and cordial."
Cons: "It was a smaller plane and very full. The seats are packed so tightly together, you dare not sneeze."

Cons: "What got me was the 2ND flight where a very large lady who pulled out three different seat belt extenders out of her purse was sat next to me. I could serious feel her sweat on my leg the whole ride. If a seat belt extender is need then she should have had to buy two seats."

Cons: "Was told upon checking in that they did not have s seat for me. United airlines informed me that third party websites do not guarantee seats. You must book directly on united. They over book the flight and several passengers were not allowed on the flight"

Pros: "Flight was smooth and on board crew was nice and helpful. Flight attendant noticed I came on with a cane and offered to have a wheelchair ride available in the SF airport. Reminding me that it was a large airport. I declined, but she encouraged me to try it and I agreed. She was concerned and very helpful."
Cons: "The plane was a small plane and we had to disembark on the tarmac. There were two attendants with wheelchairs but they didn't have my name so I walked on. The flight attendant called to me and said to wait. One of the attendants came up with a wheelchair and said he would take me. Unfortunately, a steep ramp had to be used to get into the airport building. He asked another worker to help him and all the way up the ramp I had to listen to comments about "good thing they had eaten their Wheaties" and "they were getting a good workout." I know that I am not a small person, but these ongoing comments were rude and insulting. When we got into the gate the attendant told me that he didn't have my name on his list and had to call for permission to take me through the airport. I waited and he came back and said he couldn't take me, but if I could wait someone else could come for me. I had waited enough already and suffered their rude comments, so I said no thanks and walked slowly through the airport. This experience has left me with a bad feeling for the airline and its personnel. I believe their staff could use sensitivity training at the very least!"

Cons: "In SF, I paid wheelchair assistant, who left me at Gate 62, and I told him to come get me if gate changed. He never came back, even after hefty tip, and last minute I had to get to Gate 73, almost fainted, I have leukemia. Though I was able to,board first, the plane was older, smaller, and I was out in an E, middle, seat. Horrible experience."

Cons: "Compeltly ridiculous that you had to pay for every single thing. I think the only complimentary thing was cranberry juice and water. Paying for entertainment and wifi with seperate fees felt really cheap and tacky along with the plane itself. It was run down and looked and felt even more that way when you're competing with flights from companies like JetBlue where they work to make you feel comfortable and provide free entertainment. We also were an hour delayed and sat on the runway for an hour before we left due to too much traffic over Cuba. It felt as a customer that it was poor planning on the companies part and that that could have been avoided earlier. Companies that put effort into a comfortable flying experience and care about customer satisfaction will be getting my money in the future. United would be my last choice when make travel plans in the future."
