Changed gate more times than I can remember, and delayed the flight without much of an explanation.
Flight delayed out of LHR causing missed connection and night spent in Dallas
Yet another delayed American Airlines flight (the one coming over was delayed too.). I understand these things happen. My issue is that the flight crew does a lousy job of keeping passengers informed of what is going on with the delays. They wait until 15 minutes after your scheduled departure to tell you why you're still sitting at the gate. Then they tell you it will only be another 5 minutes. After 20 more minutes they decide to tell you why you haven't moved, and it should only be 5 MORE minutes. Really, American, if you don't have any idea how long the delay really might be, don't just pull numbers out of the air. People prefer honesty to BS.
During the flight there wasn't much turbulence so that's a plus for me, the snack was pretty good, the attention and amability from the flight crew was incredible.
Given Covid protocols, it is still baffling to me how these planes can be so overcrowded. But the flight in general was okay.

Cons: "This was an older Airbus A321 with no power outlets at the seats and no video screens on the back of seats. As an Executive level Advantage member, I felt that I received no special recognition from onboard flight staff; they did the minimum as scripted."

Cons: "On my first flight from SLC to ORD I asked 3 different American Airlines employees if I needed to pay for my carryon before I got on the plane. They all said no. I got on the plane, put my carryon under the seat in front of me and everything was great. I landed in Chicago, got to my gate, went to board and this very rude employee stopped me after I scanned my ticket and told me I couldn’t board with my bag. The EXACT bag I had boarded with in SLC. After harshly grabbing my bag and putting it in the carryon basket to check for size, she wouldn’t let me pass by her into the boarding bridge and told me I was going to have to pay. I tried explaining that I had asked I’m SLC if I needed to check it and they had all said no and that it fit under my seat. She said, “I don’t care what they said in SL, this is what I’m saying here.” And directed me to the front desk where I had to pay $50!! $50 for a carryon backpack that fit under my seat comfortably 20 minutes before!! Without saying a word (cause I didn’t want to yell at the poor girl behind the desk) I paid the $50 and proceeded to enter the bridge but before I passed through, the rude woman said, “have a nice flight ma’am” and scoffed!! An audible scoff. So I’m short, I hate American Airlines and I will do my BEST to not have to fly with them in the future."

Cons: "Took off late from Minneapolis only to announce that there was something wrong with the plane, no explanation as to what but that we had to circle to burn off fuel before returning to Minneapolis. Switched to a flight to D.C. with a connection to get to LGA. As soon as we sat down on that flight an announcement was made that we wouldn't make our connecting flight. Got to D.C. and asked to switch to go into Westchester instead of LGA which we were denied. So changed to another connecting flight to LGA that didn't take off on time. Offered nothing for any of the inconveniences. Etc."
Cons: "The staff member at the gate counter in Philly was very short and rude. She asked for people volunteer to check their carry-on bags and when I took mine up she was very curt. She asked me for my seat number (I didn't hear her) and her tone got worse. A woman who did not speak English need assistance and was turned away by this person with s shrug. The Latina finally stood in the middle of the gate area asking for help from anyone who could speak English. I just spent 18 days I Madrid and never once was rejected when I asked for assistance. I was not happy with your employee and I was ashamed to hear an American treat someone that way. In the employee's defense, she was alone at the dest up until boarding time and was juggling a lot of balls without any other support. Not a good experience."

Cons: "There was no inflight entertainment at all. Your only option is to purchase WiFi so that you can view entertainment on your phone or other electronic device. For a plane that cannot offer inflight entertainment, the WiFi should be free."
Cons: "Thanks for the cheap flight. Oh wait, still over $200 and they passed out iceless water. Why can't they give coffee as an option or heaven forbid, anything other than iceless water?"
Cons: "After flying from Denver to Philly, I had anticipated an hour and a half layover. First email came speaking of a delay, then second, then about five emails later American Airlines notified me that there will be a 4 hour delay. To get from Philly to avoca on a flight is half an hour. On a bus, its two hours. If an airline knows there will be a four hour delay, how do you not provide that service? I watched plent of other flights go to AVP and even to Allentown, no one could offer one of those options to me? Cold, compressed and miserable experience."
Cons: "the AA flight arriving to Charlotte experienced a door malfunction that delayed deplaning by 15 minutes. Not a big deal unless you had a close connection to begin with. Result was a dead sprint to Charleston gate where no attempt to hold the plane for those passengers. Also, a black, middle-aged woman with short hair working the ticket counter had the personality of a piece of cardboard with zero responsiveness. AA should reconsider who it places to interact with the general public."

Cons: "We had some Change of plans and we're going to just get off in Phoenix and not take it straight to San Diego, we called American they said no big deal they would ticket our bags to Phoenix, got to the airport and the American Airlines gal stated in no way shape or form could they do that, I tried explaining the whole situation and her response always ended in 'and your bags will be in San Diego'. By the grace of God we were able to cram two checked bags worth of stuff into our carry ons which I still do not know how we did that, and were fine. On the flight we had a decently nice lady and a horrible male. When passing out drinks he seemed almost irritated that we had asked for water and rudely gave it to us which was room temperature. He totally skipped the lady in the row with us and got irritated when she asked for a water as well."
Pros: "Had good bathroom access and place to stand in the back galley so you could exercise and stretch as this was a connecting flight and I had been in the air a long time."
Cons: "The older woman stewardess was rude. I tried to give her my papers and she ignored me. So I put them in the pocket and the man next to me saw what happened and she responded to him. Curt. The plane is old and no individual TV. The food choices were very limited. I felt like cattle rather than a relaxing flight. Flying use to be fun and exciting and part of a great trip. Now it is endured to get on a trip."

I got warned not to use BA anymore and that the standards had really slipped. From check in and waiting 2 and a half hours to drop our bags off. To the miserable flight staff who didn’t want to do anything or bring drinks (anything) and god awful food (genuinely disgusting) I would never fly with BA again and would advise all other travelers to go with any other provider
The flight was late, crew made an attempt to recover the lost time but communication was poor.

Check in catastrophic. Over an hour….in Business Class line. Access to one Lounge had a long, moving queue. Access to the other had a shorter queue, but once inside, an even longer queue to get anything to eat or drink. Arrived at Heathrow T5 on-time, but Passport Control is a disgrace; a national embarrassment. Officious stewards, enormous queues, random barriers, non-working e-Gates and so on

Cons: "My husband and I paid a combined $100 to reserve seats on our flight from LAX to London. When we got to check-in at LAX airport we did not get our reserved seats. Everything had been changed around. We did not even have seats next to each other. Upon complaining at arrival in London (there was no time at LAX to deal with this, as usual that airport was one chaotic mess) we were given a British Airways business card with a phone number that did not work/had been disconnected. I would like to get the $100 reservation fee back. Thank you."

Pros: "British Airways provides complimentary amenities in coach not found on US carriers: A hot meal, snacks, beverages other than water or coffee/tea. Their media selection is superb. They seem to work hard to make a nine-hour flight over The Pond as tolerable as possible."
Cons: "My comfort was better on the return leg because I had the extra leg room that comes with being seated on the emergency exit row. However, regular coach seating is at best tolerable. You are packed like sardines and the seats are firm, to put it mildly."

A very short lady in front of us leaned all the way back and caused such major discomfort my boyfriend had to push her forward. She then complained even tho she visibly had a lot of space. We requested an upgrade from gate crew and flight crew upon boarding but were told the flight was full even though multiple seats were available. Will not fly British Airways again."

Cons: "We booked a wheelchair transfer from the connecting flight, and BA refused to provide the service. My elderly mother in law with limited mobility was left alone and stranded at Heathrow and was only assisted by fellow passengers (NOT BA staff). Unbelievable."

Also, this is not the airline's fault, but the woman sitting next to me was wearing an excessive amount of perfume, which gave me a headache. I think the airline should make recommendations for passengers not to be heavily scented. As a physician, I worry about patients with RADS (reactive airways dysfunction syndrome) who can develop bronchospasm if exposed to individuals wearing lots of perfume, and a plane is an enclosed space."
